4. Ten Steps for Implementing Repeated Reading Tactic
1. The teacher explains the value of the repeated reading tactic to students with
varied reading abilities, particularly to those who have learning deficiencies.
2. The teacher and students select an appropriate reading rate and goal in terms
of words read correctly per minute.
3. The teacher selects reading passages based on the reading instructional level
of a particular student.
4. The teacher should calculate the reading rates of each student.
5. The teacher should also orient each students on how to calculate, record and
interpret his/her reading rates.
6. The students is encouraged to choose an interesting story and to practice
reading it alone or, with a buddy.
7. The students is encourage to ask for help in pronunciation when necessary
during the first three readings or practice readings.
8. After the third reading, the student should read the story again, as fast as
possible, while being timed.
