- Both problematic definitions, WHY?

Civilization courses in the U.S.?
• Connecting U.S. to “Western tradition”
• First broadly introduced after WWI
• WWII & “Atlantic Civilization”
• Recent focus on World History
- So why do we still study Western Civilization
in college today?
