By end of the lesson students will be able to:
Identify external features of 3 animals.
Record the external features of animals in a table.
Prior knowledge : Pupils know some parts of
animals such as ears, eyes,
legs and nose.
Misconcept : Pupils think that claw and
hoof is same.

7. ORIENTATION (5 MIN)
Teacher puts on the blackboard a picture of a cow.
Teacher asks pupils.
What is this?
Pupils answer.
This is a cow.
Teacher asks again by pointing to the cow’s tail, horn and
leg.
What would you call this?
8. Pupils answer one by one.
Pupil A - It is a tail.
Pupil B - It is a horn
Pupil C - It is a leg.
Teacher uses flash cards to name the external
features.

9. ELICITING IDEAS
(12 MIN)
Teachers shows the external features of some
other animals. (wing, beak, horn, tail, scale, fin,
hoof.....)
Pupils read them loudly.
Teacher asks pupils to read the given flash cards.
Teacher gives each pupils to match the flash cards
to the given picture of an animal.(fish, hen and
cow together with their external features).
Pupils match them correctly. Read again loudly
infront of the class.
10. RESTRUCTUNING
Students are instructed to sit in groups of 3.
Teacher provides Majong paper to each group
which contain with 3 animals pictures.
Teacher asks pupils to write correct external
features in the blank provides.
Students present their work infront of the class.
11. Activity 1
Student required to do exercise. Pupils colour the
external features that they learnt.
