Great!
How about if I will give you an activity,
what are you going to do, Ellah?

Before we will start our new lesson, what
was our previous lesson all about,
Micah?
Very good Micah.
Who can tell the class what is a habitat,
Seth.
What are vertebrates, Amor?
(The pupils clap)
Pupils: Listen attentively and Participate
actively, Ma’am.
Micah: our lesson is all about habitat,
Ma’am.
Seth : habitat is an environment where
an organism lives throughout the year
or for shorter periods of time to find
mate.
Very well said.
Since were already know the different
types of habitat of animals.
B. ELICITATION
“PINOY HENYO”
Are you familiar with the game, Pinoy
Henyo?
Category : Animals
Mechanics in doing activity: The team will
be given 30 seconds to get the given words.
No body language is allowed. The more
answers correct in the given time would be
the winner.
From the activity you did awhile ago, what
do you think our lesson is all about?khurt?
That’s right.
The words that you have guessed are
vertebrates and invertebrates animals. That
is the lesson we will be discussing today.
Vertebrates are animals that have
backbone. Their backbones support and
protect their spinal cords and their bodies.
Invertebrates are animals lack of
Pupils: Yes Ma’am.
Khurt: Animals Ma’am.
backbones.
C. EXPLORATION
This morning we will have a fieldtrip.
Do you like the idea class?
Since we don’t have actual animals inside
the classroom, I will show you pictures of
animals. We will have a “Gallery Walk”
inside our classroom.
I will let you to walk and take a look of
the exhibit. As, you can see, we have
three (3) station inside the classroom.
Station 1, 2 and 3. Each station, I will give
five seconds to look at the exhibit.
Enough for that.
Now, what things have you seen in the
exhibit?
What animals did you see?
D. EXPLANATION
Let’s proceed. Since, you have identified
the animals belonging to vertebrates and
invertebrates, let us classify them
according to their characteristics.
Pupils: Yes, Ma’am.
(The pupils take their time to have a
gallery a walk)
Pupils: We saw animals, Ma’am.
(Pupils’ answers: cow, horse, chicken,
dog, cat, fish, birds, and others.)
I will show you a video on how
vertebrates and invertebrates group
according to their characteristics.
(Present the video)
According to the video I have shown to
you, the animal kingdom is divided into
two groups. We have the vertebrates
and invertebrates. Vertebrates are
animals with backbone. And
invertebrates are animals that lack of
backbone.
Vertebrates and invertebrates grouped
according to its different characteristics.
(Present the chart)
Classification of Vertebrates and
Invertebrates.
Vertebrates
Amphibians
Reptiles
Birds
Mammals
Fish
Invertebrates
Worms
Sea Jellies
Mollusks
Anthropods
Sponges
Now, let’s go back to our exhibit. Again
class, take a look at the exhibit with your
group. This time, I will give you task.
Group 1: make a list of animals that
belong to the group of vertebrates
based on the exhibit.
Group 2: make a list of every animal that
belongs to vertebrates and invertebrates
based on the exhibit.
Group 3: make a list of animals that
belong to vertebrates and invertebrates
according to their characteristics based
on the exhibit.
I have a brown envelope here which has
manila papers inside. For further
instructions, just open the envelope and
read the instruction inside. I will give you
five (5) minutes to do the task.
Each group must select a leader to report
your work.
Am I clear class?
You can go now.
Time’s up! Enough for that.
Very well, Class. You do it well.
How are you going to show that you care
for those animals, Zeph?
E. ELABORATION
Now, we are done discussing the
classification of vertebrates and
invertebrates. Let us check your
knowledge.
As you can see, I have here three (3)
tables in my chart. The first table has
pictures of animals. All you have to do is
to choose the animal picture according
to its characteristics. Then identify which
classification of animals it belongs. Paste
it in its corresponding group.
Zeph: To show that I care for animals, I
will show great love towards them.
Vertebrates Invertebrates
Characteristics
Are all your answers correct?
Really?
It seems you are that confident enough,
let check your work.
Checking of the activity
Correct! Good job class.
What are the characteristics of mammals,
Marianne?
Pupils: Yes Ma’am
Marriane: Mammals have hair and they
produce milk, Ma’am.
