interviewer instead of looking directly to
the camera.
 Most shots of an interview is a close-up,
medium close-up or a medium shot.

understand the footage being showed.
 At the end credits are also used to credit
everyone who took part on the making of

without any actors or directed production.

 Conventional editing is where they delete
the questions they did in the interview. On
the final product you will only hear the
answers.

5. Archive footage
 A soundtrack or voiceover is often heard
while the footage is being showed.
 It is a good way of showing evidence of
the past, gives historical knowledge to the
audience.
 Gives realism to the documentary. And it
is cheaper to show footage of photographs
then trying to recreate the scene
(dramatization).

6. Sound
 A soundtrack or voiceover is
used while seeing the footage to
show emotion.
 Voiceover gives the idea of the
wise voice giving the right
opinion by a special knowledge
person.
 The music normally indicates a
dramatic view and tells what
emotions are expected.
 Narration gives a personal
experience opinion, giving more
interest and entertainment to
the audience.

7. Dramatization
 Helps the audience have a better view to
what happened to the past event the
documentary mentions.
 This reconstruction is made with actors
which try to demonstrate from
information given from those which
experienced the event too or were
informed by primary source of information
supported with feedback of specialists in
the event.

8. Mise en scène
 Establishing shot to set the scene.
 Props are frequently seen to associate
constantly with the theme. They are
usually seen in extreme close-ups or placed
behind the interviewee as a decoration.
Creates a synergy with all scenes towards
the theme.
 Natural lightning is often used.
 The overall all room in which the person is
being interviewed could tell about the
person and connote an ideas.
