the brand sentence
,they are always in
capital letters and
every MIXMAG
magazine has the
same sentence.
Prices, barcode
and website are
all placed in the
bottom right of
the magazine.
All singers are
wearing an
accessory a
sunglass, necklace,
rings or earrings.
Opinion on the
cover line ”she's a
bit of a badass”.
Cover lines are
gathered
together but
separated with
the colour of
the font.“PLUS” is used as
the extra articles
you are gaining as
if they are free,
separated from
the magazine
content.
Clothes are plain
(no pattern) to not
attract attention
from singers face.
Background is
lighter than characters
face and sometimes
also lighter than the outfit.
Font of cover lines
are smaller than
expected but still
very clear.
Month is written in
capitals followed with
the year.
Masthead changes colour for
each magazine to coordinate
with the colour sheme, but does
not change design.
3. Magazines with more than one character
More than one character the background
has a scenery and is mainly done in a long
shot and rarely mid shot so both could fit
in.
The characters take all the
attention of the scenery as their
black clothes are very
contrasting to the background.
Iconic styles of
characters are
produced.
The shot is also done in a
shallower depth of field which
is done by changing to a bigger
aperture. This sharpens more
the main characters.
There is no eye
contact as the main
focus is the name of
the duo.
The cover lines are in the centre
and the characters are on both sides as if
framing the min information.
This gives layout drags the attention as it is the
opposite of the ordinary sides cover lines.
Both characters are
equally presented,
almost the same
clothes to not happen
any generalization of
which is the main
character.
On Mixmag
magazines on the botton
left hand side it shows who
was the illustrator or
photographer.
Mixmag
Always lists all
artists that are
mentioned on
the front cover.
The font of the masthead is
very different from any
other fonts used in the
magazine.
4. And also been given different dramatic elements such as face
makeup of open skin, Photoshop of holding Fire and fire
background or storms to show power, danger and fantasy.
Overall dark colours showed and contrasting white cover lines
and masthead to standout.
On the Kerrang! Magazine the masthead is kept
the same.
There are many other people displayed on the front
cover taking out the attention even though they are
in a smaller size.
Cover lines are much bigger and bolder.
However the characters have been exaggerating emotions for
attention.
On the Date the Day is also shown.
Band names are showed with original logo and symbol.
