1. Who should be the ideal character for the magazine photo-shoot?
This graph shows very clearly that my target audience preferred
the band to represent the magazine cover.
I agree with my target audience as the whole band
was involved to make the band’s songs. Two people
from 25-35 thought it would be a good idea to have
only the band singer. This could be because the main singer was more
famous than the rest of the band. This is also said by a famous singer
Mick Jagger who has been part of two
bands; SuperHeavy and The Rolling Stones.
From this I will make sure that in my band cover shoot, all the band members
would be equally represented.
The bands Identity is defined a lot by the singer’s voice,
However if all members of the band could sing well
making a harmony all band members would be equally
popular, such as The Beatles.
2. How should the cover shot be?
This helped me a great deal to make the decision, as It gave me a strait forward result. Most of my target
audience wants the cover shoot to be performed in a long shot . This is perfect because it would have
been difficult to fit all members of the band in a close up shot. Long shot gives more space to reveal more
about the band, such as their style physicality and their instruments.
3. How could I make the cover shot stand out?
Most wanted features were the abstract/bizarre fashionable
outfits, to include instruments and the shot must be in
movement .
I will make sure to include the most wanted features in my
cover shoot.
Comparing the options for the background which were
scenery or coloured background, coloured background had
more votes.
I am left with the artistic makeup and use of props.
The makeup and use of prop statics are difficult to define of
which is mostly preferred, male 15-25 prefer the use of prop
much more then the makeup. However the female15-25
prefer much more the makeup than the props, leaving me to
decide.Because the instruments are already a prop I will not use any more props, because I don’t want it to distract from the
band members attention. And the artistic makeup will be used as it can be applied satisfactorily, vigorously or not.
4. Do you think the masthead should go over or
behind the character?
The results showed me that my target audience believes the masthead would look better behind the character.
This can stop my brand from becoming popular as it is not well known yet, people cannot recognise from the
font, colour or style when it is interrupted by more than one character (a band) which could affect the masthead
by covering the whole name.
Even so I am scared to put the masthead over the character, because it would take a little of the attention from
the band, but I believe the first magazine release should be focusing more on the brand’s name then characters
which would be already famous.
5. Do you find better when there is many
puffs and cover lines or not?
Most wanted a few of cover lines and puffs,
I am satisfied with this outcome as more expensive
magazines usually has none or a small amount of
cover lines and puffs. Which in my opinion
aesthetically looks nicer, not producing a visual pollution.
£1 £26
Only Females aged 15 to 25 thought that many would
be better, this could be because most girls magazines
has many puffs and cover lines because of the amount
of gossip advertisement.
6. What articles do you think the magazine should include?
The higher the
column is less my
target audience
wants.
I can assure They
would like concert
information,
articles on new
songs and lyrics,
the history of the
band and lastly
posters of the
band.
I will defitnelly not
include articles
about instrument
information such
as the brand and price of instruments the band uses. I will discard the idea of adding gossip and quizzes where you could
be able to see which band member you relate the most, as the only group that mostly liked was Females from 15-25.
Fashion articles
I will put to keep
Females 15-25
still a group of
my target
audience as this
was another
article category
that they most
liked compering
to the rest of the
groups.
