Australian Propaganda Poster
Source three is an Australian propaganda poster created for World War One, which is attempting to recruit soldiers, and especially sportsmen, to
replenish the front lines for the war going on in Europe. The main idea of the source contemplates the idea of uniting as a political and military power
to stop the rebel forces, over the ability of healthy Australian men playing sports, and not protecting their country's freedom. In the forefront of the
photo, we see an image of Victoria Cross recipient and Australian soldier, Lieutenant Albert Jacka. This image serves both as an inspiration and a sign
of hope for the people of Australia. The people of Australia view Jacka as a war hero, and the picture of him may have acted as a means of enthralling

Common themes throughout all three sources are linked to the idea of egocentrism and self–benefits, different beliefs and values that compose loyalty,
and the value of collectivism and unity that is tied into all three of the sources. Sources two and three both display the idea of egocentrism the best
as in source two, Sharnay condones those who remain loyal when the benefits remain in the individual's favor, and not for one's country or as a
collective. Comparably in source three, the author attempts to sway sportsmen who are currently participating in activities like hunting, tennis, golf,
rugby, and sailing to change their mindset and fight for the greater good of society. Furthermore the second source spoke of various unidentified
loyalties through the use of a simple yet complex quote, whereas, the third source is more direct om speaking about the loyalties that affect
individuals. As a reader we are able to imply that in source two they are speaking of class, cultural, and ideological loyalties, whereas in source three
they directly speak of regional, ethnic, and cultural loyalties. The idea of the values of collectives is evident in both source one and source two, and
speaks to the effect in which you should embrace belonging fully to a collective or rebelling against a collective that imposes harsh sanctions against
your society. One of the differences between the

Taking someone's words and using them without a proper citation is a problem. Without being taught the correct way, this problem is not going to
correct itself and will continue to become a bigger problem. There are major consequences for plagiarising, but these can be avoided with a simple
citation. Tying together the definition of plagiarism, reasons for using documentation, and an explanation of MLA 8 and APA citations will all be
brought together. Learning what kind of citation, and what needs a citation is a very important concept in becoming a successful writer. Citing a source
correctly will save you time and problems.

These students were taught a life lesson, something that they will never do again. Being taught, the correct way, at a young age will solve many of
the problems that we have today. Becoming aware of the consequences that this could lead to would be worth the extra time citing a document, or
writing your own paper. Taking someone's words or writing could lead to loss of job/school, fines, and so much more. To avoid these problems, a
simple citation will help anyone become aware that you did give credit to the author. Jim Carnett published an article in the Los Angeles Times stating
that he had tried to submit a column to an editor but they sent it back because it contained plagiarised material. Carnett said, "I lifted a portion of one
of my columns and inserted it in the Daily Pilot piece without attribution." He hadn't cited his own work and now what he did was plagiarism. To
Carnett, this was a total accident, but this shows that you should cite any information that you use. Although there are arguments that there is no such
thing as plagiarism, "If a novelist uses a non–fiction book for research, how is that stealing? Non–fiction promises facts, there is no copyright in facts,
ergo no stealing..." (Independent.co.uk) it is always best to give credit to the source that you received the information from; thus not having a chance of
plagiarism.
Having a correct citation for a source is very

How Has Human Technology Evolved Over Time?
Long before there was the genre of science fiction, humanity has questioned the future what it brings. How it will be different tomorrow from how
it is today and how to prevent or make it possible. Such wonderings bring about inventions such as an ancient earthquake detector in the form of a
vase with dragons on the outside that would drop a ball into a bowl in the direction of the quake. Or the invention of many weapons in the time of
war to gain an advantage over the enemy. If we look at how both have changed and evolved over time, I pose a question that I am trying to find
sources to answer for an average adult audience. How has human technology evolved over time, and what does this mean for how it can and will
change in the future?
I would like to start with the source I thought was the worst for such a paper, 23 Incredible New Technologies You'll See by 2021. A blog post that
talks about technology that are believed to appear in the next ten years from before the paper was written (Wire, 2013). While there are some
positives to the source: it being written with the average reader in mind, and some of the predictions close to when the year it was guessed. There
are also heavier cons that make it the worst. There is no way to know where the information came from as there are no sources listed anywhere on the
page. Many of the predictions to a reader today would see are incorrect or know that it has grossly overestimated how much it has integrated into
society. In

The Impact Of Margaret Thatcher's Social And Economic...
Source A could be considered to have great value to a historian studying the impact of Margaret Thatcher's Social and Economic policies, as it comes
from a speech that Margaret Thatcher made herself 5 years into her premiership. This lends the source some value, as it comes from Thatcher's own
point of view, and therefore could be considered to be very valuable to a historian studying the impact of Thatcher's policies as no one would know
more about how she arrived at her decisions and what her intentions were than Thatcher herself. It could however be argued that the fact this source
comes from Thatcher herself is in fact a detriment to its value, as she will be more likely to defend herself and her actions rather than speaking
honestly about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this source could also be considered of little value as it is unlikely Margaret Thatcher would criticise herself, there is very little mention of
the impact her policies have had, and the speech coming from 1984 means that there is very little scope for any information about the long–term impact
of her policies to make it into the source. Source B has a similar set of advantages and disadvantages to a historian studying the impact of Thatcher's
social and economic problems, as, while it does focus on the effects that her policies had at the time, it still was not created at a time when it could
offer insight at the long term impacts of her policies, comes from a speech from an opposition party leader, and so is therefore likely to focus on the
negatives, and again contains very little statistical evidence to support its

Common Sense Primary Source Critique
Primary Source Critique: Jacobs, Harriet Ann ("Linda Brent"), Common Sense Due: November 10, 2013 Common Sense, by Thomas Paine, is a
pamphlet that was written in 1775–76. Paine's purpose for this writing was to be an encouragement to the general people of the thirteen colonies to
seek declaration of their independence from Great Britain. Paine's desire to connect with the common people is evident in his plain and easy to
understand writing style; he wrote in an educated, but straight–forward manner. Dubbed a "political quack" by Loyalist, James Chalmers of Maryland
in the Plain Truth (New), and accused of producing a "crapulous mass" by none other than John Adams, we see just two examples of the many attacks
on Paine, who prevailed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, society grows; a government becomes needed, and in turn laws. Next, because of growth and the inability to gather the people all together,
elections become needed. He describes these simple concepts as "the best balance between government and society" (Paine, n.pag.). After clearly
explaining to the people his ideas, he uses his concepts to discredit the "monarchial and aristocratic tyranny" (Paine, n.pag.) in the English
Constitution. He further examines the lack of appropriate checks and balances, and charges it as unable to "be the gift of a wise people" (Paine,
n.pag.). In this section, Paine successfully illustrates an expectation of appropriate government, in a basic construction that puts organization to the
public's desires. In Section II, Of Monarchy and Hereditary Succession, he incites the spirit of Americans that lives on today by talking of mankind's
"equality in the order of creation" (Paine, n.pag.). He uses biblical foundation to discredit the fallible distinction of king and subjects. He also
discredits a government of mixed state and warns of the concentration of power. Paine's building on biblical reference in relation to equality and natural
rights is clearly written in the value held by the majority, and expresses his commitment to the people. In Section III, Thoughts on the Present State of
American Affairs, Paine presents appropriate course of action in the form of independence in dissatisfaction of

Biased Sources
It is important to add sources when they provide information that will help you make your point. There are two instances that make using sources
appropriate; one is in research papers, the other is in essays. In research papers, your thesis and ideas are original, but sources are useful to back up
your claims. Using sources in this way gives your paper a strong wall of evidence to base your ideas on. In other essays, you can use sources to add
detail, which makes your thesis more solid. These sources can add statistics, evidence, illustrations, and historical information.
It is important to differentiate between facts, opinions, and bias when choosing sources because opinions and bias can be false or misleading. A factual
source is usually the best type of source for a paper because it is concrete and can be checked for verification. Opinions, on the other hand, can not
be verified because they are beliefs. Unless it is an opinion made by an expert, you should not use opinions as sources because they can be false.
Bias is the writer's personal view about a subject and may be distorted. Biased sources aren't always wrong, but if you use one, add other sources with
differing views. At its worst, bias can be misleading and cause the audience to have a one–sided view of the subject.

With note cards, you can write each source down on an index card with its author, location, summary notes, paraphrases, and direct quotes. The
advantage of this system is that you can go back later and rearrange your information, but the disadvantage is that you have to handwrite everything.
The second way to organize information is by using annotated source copies. These are made by photocopying or printing out sources and then adding
underlines and marginal notes. This method saves time by copying and pasting material, but can be a disadvantage because you can not rearrange your

Preventing Plagiarism When Writing A Research Paper
PREVENTING PLAGIARISM WHEN WRITING
In a research paper, you have to come up with your own original ideas while at the same time making reference to work that 's already been done by
others. But how can you tell where their ideas end and your own begin? What 's the proper way to integrate sources in your paper? If you change
some of what an author said, do you still have to cite that author?
Confusion about the answers to these questions often leads to plagiarism. If you have similar questions or are concerned about preventing plagiarism,
we recommend using the checklist below.

TAKE EFFECTIVE NOTES
One of the best ways to prepare for a research paper is by taking thorough notes from all of your sources so that you have much of the information
organized before you begin writing. On the other hand, poor note–taking can lead to many problems–– including improper citations and misquotations,
both of which are forms of plagiarism! To avoid confusion about your sources, try using different colored fonts, pens, or pencils for each one, and
make sure you clearly distinguish your own ideas from those you found elsewhere. Also, get in the habit of marking page numbers, and make sure that
you record bibliographic information or web addresses for every source right away–– finding them again later when you are trying to finish your paper
can be a nightmare!
WRITING YOUR PAPER
WHEN IN DOUBT, CITE SOURCES
Of course you want to get credit for your own ideas. And, you don 't want your instructor to think that you got all of your information from
somewhere else. But if it is unclear whether an idea in your paper really came from you, or whether you got it from somewhere else and just changed
it a little, you should always cite your source. Instead of weakening your paper and making it seem like you have fewer original ideas, this will
actually strengthen your paper by:
showing that you are not just copying other ideas but are processing and adding to

Is Pride And The Most Common Source?
Let us say your favorite team just won the super bowl, and you just feel this overwhelming feeling you just can not name. You become a parent a few
years later and again that same feeling. Your child learns to ride a bike without the training wheels and there it is again that feeling. Many more
instances though the years pass where that feeling creeps up on you. That feeling is pride. Pride is any instance in your life where you feel that
overwhelming sense of we or they did it, success in doing what was set out to do. Now pride comes in various shapes and instance for everyone,
but they can all have a common source. Some of the most common things you have a connection to are sports, work, people and possibly your
sexual orientation. Though you have some many different possibilities or interconnecting occurrences within these topics, you will encounter. Some
are more prideful in one instance than other, but it does not take away from any lesser situation either. With these only being a handful of prideful
occurrences, as there are too many to name. With football season upon us we all have out teams, most of us being Packer fans. So we sit in front of
that tv and wait for the magic of Rodgers and Nelson, or Matthews doing what they do. You cannot help the feeling of pride and joy when they score

Going straight to the source is the best way to check if the information in the article is reliable and credible.
A New Tool to Check the Quality of Articles German professor Stock created a new tool that allows checking the quality of articles posted on
Wikipedia and stated,
Wiki–Watch serves as a research tool indicating lack of sources and evaluating the reliability of every entry made, using WikiTrust's color code system
to display reputation of a text according to the reputation and number of revisions by users. Wiki–Watch analyzes every Wikipedia entry ever created in
a few seconds, checks the number of sources used in the article and the quality of editing (para. 2). Wiki–Watch uses a color codes system to check the
reputation of the article by figuring out how many times people revised the article. White color means reliable information; therefore, yellow color has
an opposite meaning. This system also checks for the credibility of the article and emphasizes individual words used in the article.
Many Editors to Correct the Errors Wikipedia counts 75,000 editors who check the articles and their content to make sure that the information is valid
and reliable. According to Schaffer (2009), the journal Nature conducted a study in 2005 and proved that Wikipedia is just as valid as any other
encyclopedia, including Britannica, keeping in mind that errors and vandalism can occur to any of them (para. 2).

The Importance Of Finding Useful And Strong Evidence
Finding useful and strong evidence is always one of the most difficult, yet one of the most important aspectpart of writing an essay. Evidence is the
foundationbase of an essay and all the essay's content relies on the evidence to support it and make a powerful statement. Most college students are
familiar with the concept of finding and using evidence to support their arguments in their essays. It has been something that we have learned in grade
school that we have all executed on all of our essays. Evidence is used in order to make all statements and arguments deemed correct. It is always

between the two so i have the perfect amount of my own work and analysis and the evidence I need to include in order to justify my analysis. Another
weakness I think is the way I cite my sources. I'm not completely sure the best way to cite my source. I know that I need to have a works cited part but
I struggle with incorporating my citation into the actual text. Some strengths that I have are my organization. I was able to split my article into
separate sections and each section describes a different factor that students should take account of when finding sources and evidence for their
writings. I also think a strength of mine was relating to the audience because I know that my audience is college students, so incorporated different
scenarios and situations that they would relate to more. For example, I know that college students are typically very experienced in social media, so I
incorporated a section about social media because I know that many college students may not know that using social media as a new source is not
resourceful.

What Common Sources Cause Carbon Dioxide?
An odorless and colorless gas that occurs because of an incomplete combustion of fuels, when people get exposed to CO gas, it starts to displace the
oxygen levels in the body, and this is what leads to carbon monoxide poisoning. Because carbon monoxide has no taste, color or odor, you cannot detect
it with your senses. In dangerous concentrations, humans indoors have no method of detecting it until they have grown ill. If you start to notice
flu–like symptoms, it can cause you to ignore the earlier signs of a CO poisoning because you figure you are just sick. According to the CDC, around
500 individuals die from an unintentional CO poisoning every year within the US, and they estimate that between 8,000–15,000 individuals have to be
treated at the hospital for this dangerous problem every year. Nevertheless, you can take steps to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. For example,
you can install a carbon monoxide alarm. Also, make sure that you are keeping your fuel burning appliances at the right level of maintenance. What
are some other sources of carbon monoxide? In essence, carbon monoxide will be produced whenever you burn material. If you have a fuel burning

Common Share as both an Investment instrument and a Source of Finance Share Share is sometimes referred to as stocks, equity or securities.
The Company Act defines a share as 'movable property transferable in the manner provided by the articles of the company.'(PratapGiri S. 2013,
p152) The two main types of shares are common shares and preferred shares. Types of shares: 1.Common shares Common share (ordinary shares)is
an equity investment which represents common ownership in a company and a claim on a portion of profits which is known as dividends. For
example, purchase of Perodua shares mean ownership of the company. Investors also have voting rights which will get one vote per share to elect
the board members, who are obliged to supervise the major decisions made by management. Besides, income that generated by the company would
belong to the owners which are called as shareholders or stockholders. If the company goes bankrupt and liquidates, the common shareholders only
have rights to company assets after creditors, preferred shareholders, and bondholders have been fully paid. 2.Preferred Shares A preferred share
represents a class of ownership in a corporation that claims more on its assets and earnings than common share. For the most part, preferred shares
have a dividend that ought to be paid out before dividends to common stockholders, and the shares generally do not carry voting rights. Preferred

The Effects Of Mining On The Environment And Economy For...
Mining is the process or industry of obtaining coal or other minerals from a mine. A new mining project, called the Back Forty, is was proposed
and is located on the Michigan and Wisconsin border. This project is said to begin around 2020 and created concern for some people. The Aquila
Resources Inc. is the company behind this proposal, and they said "it will invest more than $300 million to extract gold, zinc, copper and silver along
the Menominee River" (Bergquist, 2016). The Menominee river is part of the border between Wisconsin and Michigan. The mine will have large effects
on the environment and economy for Lake Michigan and Wisconsin. The next paragraphs will discuss the positive and negative effects that the Back
Forty could create. One side would be for the mine and say that the economic benefits would outweigh the negative effects on the environment, while
the opposing side would say the opposite.
To begin, those who are for mining would say that the Back Forty will have positive effects on the economy in places near it. Many people could
assume that opening a mine could create more jobs, and essentially help the economy. One example, from another mine from Hunter Valley, is that
mining "provided the major source of energy for industry, transport and economic development," (Cottle, 2013). This shows that mining can have very
good impacts. A specific way the Back Forty can affect northeastern Wisconsin is it "would generate more, than $20 million in new tax revenue

The Common Sources Of Workplace Essay
The current essay aims to present and analyse a common incident that often occurs in the workplace: conflict. Firstly, the present paper will examine
the common sources of workplace conflict. In particular, attention will be given to the main sources of conflicts, such as poor communication amongst
individuals and values and personalities clashes. Secondly, an analysis of the repercussions that can arise due to conflicts will be provided, and both
positive as well as negative consequences will be taken into account. Thirdly, the current paper will explore and discuss the main conflict resolution
strategies. Lastly, the paper will examine the BIG FIVE personality traits and discuss their influence on conflict management.
According to Freud and his Psychoanalytical view, conflicts and therefore psychic pain are two inescapable characteristics of the human conditions
(Freud & Gay, 1989). Although Freud was mainly referring to psychic and internal conflicts, it is possible to make a connection between Freud's
theory on internal conflicts and the more practical conflicts that occur within the workplace. Freud argues that internal conflicts are caused by the
clashing of instinctual drives and social expectations, two opposite agencies (Freud & Gay, 1989). Similarly, Ejaz, Iqbal and Ara (2012) define
conflicts as inevitable characteristics that occur during the individual's life and that are caused by disagreements between two or more conflicting

Thomas Paine Common Sense
Context:
In result of The Seven Years' War Britain controlled American trade and territory. In order to pay for the expenses of the war several taxation acts and
military presence were implemented such as the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, Currency Act, Quartering Act and the presence of British troops at the colonies.
Consequently, Americans who thought these actions violated their political and constitutional liberties opposed these policies with petitions, boycotts,
and resistance strategies known as the Imperial Crisis. In January 1776 Thomas Paine's Common Sense was composed to convince Americans of the
need for independence from British rule and establishment of democracy. This pamphlet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues that a democratic system based on continual elections and rights of the people protected by a written constitution would be more beneficial
to society. To strengthen the concept of democracy, Paine speaks of a hypothetical society brought up in an isolated part of the world, away from other
inhabitants. This supposed society represented the first people. Thomas Paine claims that some of its people will have many accomplishments other
will not; thus through hunger, disease, misfortune and death it is inevitable that the people will set up some form of government that "...will establish
a common interest with every part of the community, they will mutually and naturally support each other, and on this (not on the unmeaning name of
king) depends the strength of government, and the happiness of the governed" (Thomas Paine, Common Sense). This statement reassures his beliefs
towards democracy while showing how pointless English rule is to society. Thomas Paine is attempting to promote American independence with this
document by explaining the benefits of democracy, in doing so he is demeaning the English government. Paine emphasizes the prejudices the English
may have had by stating, "And as a man, who is attached to a prostitute, is unfitted to choose

Thomas Paine : Common Sense As A Historical Source
In 1776, a young man who had been unsuccessful for most of his life, Thomas Paine published the pamphlet Common Sense. The pamphlet persuaded
the colonists to declare independence from England, and take up arms in the Revolutionary War. Common Sense was highly effective in motivating the
colonists to permanently separate from England and form a new nation. In American history,Thomas Paine became known as one our founding
fathers. Paine's influence on American history is vastly significant, and remnants of that influence continues to be an aspect of our nation today.
When analyzing Common Sense as a historical source, it can be seen that Paine utilizes the rhetorical appeals of ethos and logos to gain support for
independence from England, and support for liberation from the hereditary succession in a monarchy. In order for Common Sense to be successful,
it had to be able to reach a vast and diverse audience. Meaning, the ideas that Paine had needed to be conveyed to both farmers and scholars. Paine
accomplished this by writing Common Sense in a way that sounded like a sermon when read aloud. By writing Common Sense in that manner it
created an ethos appeal. During that era, people looked to their religious leaders for guidance, and to the bible to help shape their opinions about
government and political affairs. It wasn't uncommon for people to make a strong biblical connection with their political belief. Since Common Sense
could be preached to people, it became a

Common Sources Of Primary Care Practice
For centuries, all medical–related services such as providing cares, cures, and treatments are all common sources of primary care practice. Primary
care practices consist of family physicians, general practitioners, general pediatricians, and all other fields related to healthcare. The purpose of a
primary care practice establishment is to provide patient with access to healthcare, a treatment for an illness or injury, and continuously providing the
services until the patient is fully recover. Once a patient is well, primary care is not necessary. Nevertheless, the focus will be shifted onto long term
care as elder population in US continues to increase over time, with the ratio of elderly vs. mortality rate increasing. Long–term care means providing
hands–on care such as showering, eating, emotional support and many others assisting for chronic illness and disabilities. The purpose of this is to
provide assist elders with high quality of care in he or she remaining time left. Nonetheless, long–term care faces its challenges; low wages for its
workers, occasionally difficult working conditions, and a heavy workload. The effects of these challenges is directly linked to the shortage of
providers working in long–term elderly care. This point of this paper is to illustrate the purpose of long–term care, its' duties and functions, as well as
addressing the challenges of this branch of healthcare in America. Primary care has existed since the beginning of time in order

Reflection Paper On Nutrition
The lesson that was completed in stage three directly aligns with the Common CoreStandards and are things that should be accomplished at the
fourth–grade level. The concepts that were taught were all factors that would help illustrate the bigger picture to students so they could understand the
logic behind this lesson.By the fourth grade, students need to have a good grasp on nutrition. They need to understand why healthy eating is important
and ways they can achieve that. They are beginning to think for themselves and need to know that important choices with food is imperative for their
health. By having them complete pamphlets that would be distributed, they need to understand what they are promoting. By having them go through
the different steps that were in stage three, they were able to gather that information and help them boost their understanding of nutrition and healthy
foods. Throughout stage three, technology was used in planning and helping the students achieve their learning goals. The first example of the lesson
accomplishing this was when the students had to watch the nutrition video on the computer on the first day of the lesson. This was an informative
video that was age appropriate. I think that without the students watching this video they would have had a difficult time reaching their goals with this
lesson and future, related lessons. By having the students view this video it helped them connect the content and specific learning goals. They were

Plagiarism And Why It Is Considered Wrong
Students around the globe have the tendency to resort to copying certain sources as a manner of getting work done quicker and with strong recognition.
It is considered human nature for students in the modern day to turn to readily available sources to aid their work. However, they do not understand the
concept of plagiarism and why it is considered wrong in the educational world. To build upon this essay, we need to first understand what plagiarism
exactly is. Plagiarism is well–defined as making use of the language and viewpoints of another source as an individual 's own either on purpose or
accidentally, and is therefore considered a form of cheating (Check 3). This definition encompasses copying the whole source, portions and the
rephrasing of passages or material from any source in every piece of educational work might it be oral or written, without acknowledging the author or
source using a suitable reference style. Students ought to verify that their work is unique and their own. Using sources evidently and morally should be
the foundation and most pivotal goal of every student that aims to carry out any research and write a paper. The common assumption on the whole that
all of the content and notions of an essay belong to the author, unless the sentence lies within in quotation marks or the summary is cited (Check 21). If
the writer utilizes words or concepts from a different source without clear citation of the content, the grader ought to give the

Self Congruity In Advertising
The 2017 commercial for the Samsung Wireless Charger acts as a fairly successful attempt to provide an appealing ad for a specific target audience.
Namely, it targets a consumer base that already uses Samsung products. This is obvious by the product advertised in the ad; rather than presenting the
general Samsung brand in a persuasive manner, it focuses on a specific product that accessorizes the Samsung phone and therefore can only be used by
existing customers. In the ad, three distinct persuasive features–specifically, selfl–congruity (or source similarity), appeal to positive emotion, and
source likeability–are implemented in a way that, though ineffective in attracting new customers, is effective in the purpose of reinforcing the brand
image and product usefulness for existing customers.
One typically effective persuasive feature is that when the source is similar to the audience; this source feature is also known as self–congruity.
Self–congruity is described by Basfirinci as "the match between product–user image and the audience's self–concept" (p. 59); Basfirinci's research
(2014) subsequently demonstrates how a high amount of self–congruity in an advertisement will increase its effectiveness specifically when the image
aligns with the audience's ideal self–concept and not their practical one. In this sense, not only does self–congruity serve to represent source similarity,
but it also satisfies a content feature by appealing to higher–order human needs including

A Common Source Of Conflict Essay
A common source of conflict in India is the lack of a Uniform Civil Code. This argument stems from the discrimination Indian women face under
religious personal laws. A Uniform Civil Code replaces patriarchal personal laws with a common set of laws that would govern each citizen and cover
matters relating to marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption and maintenance. While India is a democracy, Indian leaders recognize that there are
several religious groups living within their borders so they strive to be a pluralist country, a country where there is more than just one center of
power, which in India 's case are Muslims, Hindus, and Christians. While this approach looks good in theory, it leaves critical matters such as
marriage, dowry, and property rights solely in the hands of religious leaders. This approach allows for the subjectivity ofreligion to be exploited and
removes the checks and balances system that many countries thrive on. The discriminatory nature of these laws is a direct antithesis to the equality that
the Constitution grants all of its citizens. While religious leaders argue that changing these laws is an assault on the rights provided to them, it 's also
critical to note that they directly assault the laws granted to Indian women. While Articles 25 through 30 of the Indian Constitution protect religious
freedom and cultural rights of minorities, Articles 14 through 24 ensure an individual 's rights to equality and freedom. This forces the question: why be

Badke (2008) begins his article reminding us that Wikipedia although controversial is still the online encyclopedia of choice by 36% of the United
States population according to Pew Internet & American Life Project's findings. (As quoted by Badke, para. 1)
Even if the public likes it, though, for the most part academic circles do not. Many professors will not allow their students to use Wikipedia. These
professors think Wikipedia is trivial, untrustworthy, insulting, and too often completely incorrect. (2008, para. 4) Could this be because the university

In her article, Murley (2010) presents different reasons to use Wikipedia to teach students how to evaluate and edit articles. She believes that she has

Wikipedia has existed since January 2001 by Jimmy Wales andLarry Sanger. Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia written and edited by volunteers.
Murley states that as of March 2008, Wikipedia contained more than nine million articles, of which two million were in English. More than 75,000
contributors write in more than 250 languages. (2010, p. 594) However, any one can edit an existing article by clicking on the edit tab found at the

Completing All Of My Assignments For Writing
After completing all of my assignments for Writing 102, I have learned to manage my researching and synthesizing skills in a different way.
Furthermore, I now have a better understanding of what I should include in my synthesizing process. After reviewing the learning objectives, I have
found that integrating evidence, synthesizing, and producing research–based writing in context are now familiar to me. When I had passed in my first
synthesis, a lot of the feedback that was given to me was to further evaluate my context. The revisions that were provided, gave me the chance to
revaluate and restructure my evidence for a stronger summary. In my opinion, synthesizing was the most important duty in this course. It taught me
how to closely match similar ideas together for a single analysis. It was interesting to weave out information from one text and pair it with another. For
example, in Synthesis #1, I included both authors, Barbara Ehrenreich and Robert Reich. Ehrenreich's piece of writing talked about the living
conditions of a maid while Reich focused his work on sinking boats. Even though each author talked about different circumstances, they both discussed
income inequality. Building my synthesizing skills was a major advantage to me. I can now express to works that have similarities and differences.
Having a variety of examples that explain the same message in a different way is important to include. This will influence readers in the point a writer
is trying to make.

Politics In Allen Guelzo's House Divided
The first of the two sources to be examined here is Allen Guelzo's House Divided: Lincoln, Douglas, and the Political Landscape of 1858. This source
took a more technical examination of not just the speeches and overall influence of Lincoln during this time, but also on where politics stood around
the middle of the nineteenth century. To begin with, this source took a more critical examination at the Lincoln–Douglas race from the perspective of
the complex political situation that was inherent during this time. That is to say, the campaigns that were waged were not merely about how viable
each candidate was for office, but rather the philosophical differences between these individuals and many others, according to the source. This means
that the source was able to take a closer look at why Abraham Lincoln, as well as Douglas, actually believed what they did. This retrospective aspect of

There was a great deal of emotion inherent within politics and this oftentimes boiled over during senate hearings and other events. This is one element
of politics that is effectively demonstrated by the source here because it is able to utilize quotes and tie these quotes to some of the most important
singular elements of character within these individuals. In the process, the author is able to create something of a profile within each of these major

Analysis Of Danah Boyd's Essay
High School Teachers have been adamantly against the use of Wikipedia as a credible source in essays. Students have been told by them that because
anyone can post information on Wikipedia, that the information is always changing, and that it has been known to be wrong before, Wikipedia is not a
safe place to receive reliable academic information. In Wikipedia as a Site of Knowledge Production, Danah Boyd offers persuasive and interesting
perspectives on why Wikipedia is a credible source for information. Boyd is attempting to convince teachers to give Wikipedia a chance using
students personal stories, it's strengths as a collaborative source of info, and examining Wikipedia's pros and cons. Wikipedia has its weaknesses but

He would then cite that his information actually came from the Encarta. Since the teacher didn't check the source and the information was
accurate, the boy would get away with it. She stated "nearly every teenager I met told me stories about teachers who had forbidden them from
using Wikipedia for schoolwork, nearly all of them used the site anyhow" (pg. 766). Boyds's implying that if these kids are getting away with
using Wikipedia as a source and writing essays with credible information, than maybe teachers shouldn't be so quick to discredit Wikipedia. This
is something that I also experienced in high school, I often times cited other sources for my information even though I used Wikipedia. I also know
of other of my classmates doing the same thing, I imagine that this is something done regularly among high schoolers in America. Boyd's example
implies the question "What is the point of banning the use of Wikipedia if kids are going to use it as a source anyways?" After Boyd gives the example
of a boy that used Wikipedia as a reliable source and faking the actual source, Boyd talks about why Wikipedia is

What It Take to Be a Scholarly Writier Essay examples
Scholarly writing is no different from all other writing, except, beside it having a purpose and having an audience like any other writings, scholarly
writing is evidence–based (Laureate Education, 2012). It is important, since the scholar–practitioner write for a specific audience, that his or her

Joy Is Not Just Happiness
In our everyday lives, joy has become synonymous with both happiness and pleasure. We have diminished the meaning of the word by using it in
place of the more appropriate terms in order to provide emphasis. C.S. Lewis takes more literal definition of joy, and so assigns it more significance in
his mind, separating it from any other emotion. Though he acknowledges that oftentimes happiness and pleasure occur simultaneously with joy,
they are not the root cause, nor are they the same emotion. I think the best distinction Lewis makes between happiness and pleasure is when he
states "Joy... must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable longing" (Lewis 72). This look into the root of joy demonstrates that joy is not just
happiness, it is more complex and not always a fully positive emotion. There can be sadness and longing behind the joy, but it does not diminish
the great properties of joy. Because joy is so great it is often sought, but as Lewis says "it is never a possession, always a desire for something
longer ago or further away or still 'about to be'" (Lewis 78). The fleeting nature of joy only adds to the intrigue, as it often comes at the most
unexpected times. Lewis recognizes this, as he titled the book "Surprised by Joy." Lewis also thinks that one's definition of joy is constantly changing
with our experiences. As he learned more about some subject, one that used to bring him joy to study, he "realizes that this was something quite
different from the original Joy."

Do you accept the view that More was a cruel man with little compassion for others?
More was a rarity among political figures: a man who wouldn't lie about his principles, even to save his own life. He was Henry VIII's chancellor, and
a loyal and highly effective administrator. A lot can be said either about his cruelty or about his sainthood and loyalty to the King. Using my own
knowledge and the information from the sources, I can state that Thomas More was not a cruel man, considering the commonness and customs in which
people of that time lived.
More, a major humanist, was acknowledged to be one of England's greatest thinkers ever, and far ahead of his time. Four centuries before anyone
offered women an equal education, More ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Peter Ackroyd attacks More almost entirely on grounds of his own religious partisanship, pointing out that More, in his official capacity, sent six
heretics to burn at the stake, but neglecting to mention that More's contemporaries enthusiastically killed hundreds of thousands of Catholics.
Edward Hall in Source O says: "he...had a great wit, but it was so mingled with taunting and mocking that it seemed...that he thought nothing to be
well spoken except he had ministered some mock in the communication". This explains that he could never be cruel, but only could have aggressive
and offensive manner of speaking, (as far as the source acknowledges) which nobody liked and nothing that could be a hint of cruelty. Therefore,
Hall only says about More as about an unpleasant man with a cruel tongue. Of course, we can't deny that Hall could have been biased as he lived at
the same time as More and could have been his supporter.
R.W. Chambers' source is probably the most sensible, clear and qualitative one. All this because it includes clear strong evidence: "when More was
increasingly in power, there were no death sentences (1520–1531!!!)...; during the few months he was neither in power nor in favour there were three;
during the three years of his retirement (1532–1535) there were fifteen of sixteen". This is why, in my opinion, this source best proves that More
could not be a cruel man: it provides certain facts. "The figures

Australian Propaganda Poster

  • 1. Australian Propaganda Poster Source three is an Australian propaganda poster created for World War One, which is attempting to recruit soldiers, and especially sportsmen, to replenish the front lines for the war going on in Europe. The main idea of the source contemplates the idea of uniting as a political and military power to stop the rebel forces, over the ability of healthy Australian men playing sports, and not protecting their country's freedom. In the forefront of the photo, we see an image of Victoria Cross recipient and Australian soldier, Lieutenant Albert Jacka. This image serves both as an inspiration and a sign of hope for the people of Australia. The people of Australia view Jacka as a war hero, and the picture of him may have acted as a means of enthralling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Common themes throughout all three sources are linked to the idea of egocentrism and self–benefits, different beliefs and values that compose loyalty, and the value of collectivism and unity that is tied into all three of the sources. Sources two and three both display the idea of egocentrism the best as in source two, Sharnay condones those who remain loyal when the benefits remain in the individual's favor, and not for one's country or as a collective. Comparably in source three, the author attempts to sway sportsmen who are currently participating in activities like hunting, tennis, golf, rugby, and sailing to change their mindset and fight for the greater good of society. Furthermore the second source spoke of various unidentified loyalties through the use of a simple yet complex quote, whereas, the third source is more direct om speaking about the loyalties that affect individuals. As a reader we are able to imply that in source two they are speaking of class, cultural, and ideological loyalties, whereas in source three they directly speak of regional, ethnic, and cultural loyalties. The idea of the values of collectives is evident in both source one and source two, and speaks to the effect in which you should embrace belonging fully to a collective or rebelling against a collective that imposes harsh sanctions against your society. • 2. Plagiarism Essay Examples Taking someone's words and using them without a proper citation is a problem. Without being taught the correct way, this problem is not going to correct itself and will continue to become a bigger problem. There are major consequences for plagiarising, but these can be avoided with a simple citation. Tying together the definition of plagiarism, reasons for using documentation, and an explanation of MLA 8 and APA citations will all be brought together. Learning what kind of citation, and what needs a citation is a very important concept in becoming a successful writer. Citing a source correctly will save you time and problems. There are many different definitions of the word plagiarism. Merriam–Webster's dictionary definition, also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These students were taught a life lesson, something that they will never do again. Being taught, the correct way, at a young age will solve many of the problems that we have today. Becoming aware of the consequences that this could lead to would be worth the extra time citing a document, or writing your own paper. Taking someone's words or writing could lead to loss of job/school, fines, and so much more. To avoid these problems, a simple citation will help anyone become aware that you did give credit to the author. Jim Carnett published an article in the Los Angeles Times stating that he had tried to submit a column to an editor but they sent it back because it contained plagiarised material. Carnett said, "I lifted a portion of one of my columns and inserted it in the Daily Pilot piece without attribution." He hadn't cited his own work and now what he did was plagiarism. To Carnett, this was a total accident, but this shows that you should cite any information that you use. Although there are arguments that there is no such thing as plagiarism, "If a novelist uses a non–fiction book for research, how is that stealing? Non–fiction promises facts, there is no copyright in facts, ergo no stealing..." (Independent.co.uk) it is always best to give credit to the source that you received the information from; thus not having a chance of plagiarism. Having a correct citation for a source is very ... • 3. How Has Human Technology Evolved Over Time? Long before there was the genre of science fiction, humanity has questioned the future what it brings. How it will be different tomorrow from how it is today and how to prevent or make it possible. Such wonderings bring about inventions such as an ancient earthquake detector in the form of a vase with dragons on the outside that would drop a ball into a bowl in the direction of the quake. Or the invention of many weapons in the time of war to gain an advantage over the enemy. If we look at how both have changed and evolved over time, I pose a question that I am trying to find sources to answer for an average adult audience. How has human technology evolved over time, and what does this mean for how it can and will change in the future? I would like to start with the source I thought was the worst for such a paper, 23 Incredible New Technologies You'll See by 2021. A blog post that talks about technology that are believed to appear in the next ten years from before the paper was written (Wire, 2013). While there are some positives to the source: it being written with the average reader in mind, and some of the predictions close to when the year it was guessed. There are also heavier cons that make it the worst. There is no way to know where the information came from as there are no sources listed anywhere on the page. Many of the predictions to a reader today would see are incorrect or know that it has grossly overestimated how much it has integrated into society. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Impact Of Margaret Thatcher's Social And Economic... Source A could be considered to have great value to a historian studying the impact of Margaret Thatcher's Social and Economic policies, as it comes from a speech that Margaret Thatcher made herself 5 years into her premiership. This lends the source some value, as it comes from Thatcher's own point of view, and therefore could be considered to be very valuable to a historian studying the impact of Thatcher's policies as no one would know more about how she arrived at her decisions and what her intentions were than Thatcher herself. It could however be argued that the fact this source comes from Thatcher herself is in fact a detriment to its value, as she will be more likely to defend herself and her actions rather than speaking honestly about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this source could also be considered of little value as it is unlikely Margaret Thatcher would criticise herself, there is very little mention of the impact her policies have had, and the speech coming from 1984 means that there is very little scope for any information about the long–term impact of her policies to make it into the source. Source B has a similar set of advantages and disadvantages to a historian studying the impact of Thatcher's social and economic problems, as, while it does focus on the effects that her policies had at the time, it still was not created at a time when it could offer insight at the long term impacts of her policies, comes from a speech from an opposition party leader, and so is therefore likely to focus on the negatives, and again contains very little statistical evidence to support its ... • 6. Common Sense Primary Source Critique Primary Source Critique: Jacobs, Harriet Ann ("Linda Brent"), Common Sense Due: November 10, 2013 Common Sense, by Thomas Paine, is a pamphlet that was written in 1775–76. Paine's purpose for this writing was to be an encouragement to the general people of the thirteen colonies to seek declaration of their independence from Great Britain. Paine's desire to connect with the common people is evident in his plain and easy to understand writing style; he wrote in an educated, but straight–forward manner. Dubbed a "political quack" by Loyalist, James Chalmers of Maryland in the Plain Truth (New), and accused of producing a "crapulous mass" by none other than John Adams, we see just two examples of the many attacks on Paine, who prevailed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, society grows; a government becomes needed, and in turn laws. Next, because of growth and the inability to gather the people all together, elections become needed. He describes these simple concepts as "the best balance between government and society" (Paine, n.pag.). After clearly explaining to the people his ideas, he uses his concepts to discredit the "monarchial and aristocratic tyranny" (Paine, n.pag.) in the English Constitution. He further examines the lack of appropriate checks and balances, and charges it as unable to "be the gift of a wise people" (Paine, n.pag.). In this section, Paine successfully illustrates an expectation of appropriate government, in a basic construction that puts organization to the public's desires. In Section II, Of Monarchy and Hereditary Succession, he incites the spirit of Americans that lives on today by talking of mankind's "equality in the order of creation" (Paine, n.pag.). He uses biblical foundation to discredit the fallible distinction of king and subjects. He also discredits a government of mixed state and warns of the concentration of power. Paine's building on biblical reference in relation to equality and natural rights is clearly written in the value held by the majority, and expresses his commitment to the people. • 7. Biased Sources It is important to add sources when they provide information that will help you make your point. There are two instances that make using sources appropriate; one is in research papers, the other is in essays. In research papers, your thesis and ideas are original, but sources are useful to back up your claims. Using sources in this way gives your paper a strong wall of evidence to base your ideas on. In other essays, you can use sources to add detail, which makes your thesis more solid. These sources can add statistics, evidence, illustrations, and historical information. It is important to differentiate between facts, opinions, and bias when choosing sources because opinions and bias can be false or misleading. A factual source is usually the best type of source for a paper because it is concrete and can be checked for verification. Opinions, on the other hand, can not be verified because they are beliefs. Unless it is an opinion made by an expert, you should not use opinions as sources because they can be false. Bias is the writer's personal view about a subject and may be distorted. Biased sources aren't always wrong, but if you use one, add other sources with differing views. At its worst, bias can be misleading and cause the audience to have a one–sided view of the subject. Preventing Plagiarism When Writing A Research Paper PREVENTING PLAGIARISM WHEN WRITING In a research paper, you have to come up with your own original ideas while at the same time making reference to work that 's already been done by others. But how can you tell where their ideas end and your own begin? What 's the proper way to integrate sources in your paper? If you change some of what an author said, do you still have to cite that author? Confusion about the answers to these questions often leads to plagiarism. If you have similar questions or are concerned about preventing plagiarism, we recommend using the checklist below. PLANNING YOUR PAPER CONSULT WITH YOUR INSTRUCTOR Have questions about plagiarism? TAKE EFFECTIVE NOTES One of the best ways to prepare for a research paper is by taking thorough notes from all of your sources so that you have much of the information organized before you begin writing. On the other hand, poor note–taking can lead to many problems–– including improper citations and misquotations, both of which are forms of plagiarism! To avoid confusion about your sources, try using different colored fonts, pens, or pencils for each one, and make sure you clearly distinguish your own ideas from those you found elsewhere. Also, get in the habit of marking page numbers, and make sure that you record bibliographic information or web addresses for every source right away–– finding them again later when you are trying to finish your paper can be a nightmare! • 11. Is Pride And The Most Common Source? Let us say your favorite team just won the super bowl, and you just feel this overwhelming feeling you just can not name. You become a parent a few years later and again that same feeling. Your child learns to ride a bike without the training wheels and there it is again that feeling. Many more instances though the years pass where that feeling creeps up on you. That feeling is pride. Pride is any instance in your life where you feel that overwhelming sense of we or they did it, success in doing what was set out to do. Now pride comes in various shapes and instance for everyone, but they can all have a common source. Some of the most common things you have a connection to are sports, work, people and possibly your sexual orientation. Though you have some many different possibilities or interconnecting occurrences within these topics, you will encounter. Some are more prideful in one instance than other, but it does not take away from any lesser situation either. With these only being a handful of prideful occurrences, as there are too many to name. With football season upon us we all have out teams, most of us being Packer fans. So we sit in front of that tv and wait for the magic of Rodgers and Nelson, or Matthews doing what they do. Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger launched their creation in 2001 giving an opportunity to all willing people to work together to develop a common resource of knowledge. Many people have different believes and ideas about Wikipedia, therefore, some tend to think of it as a credible and valid source of information, others strongly disagree. Going straight to the source is the best way to check if the information in the article is reliable and credible. A New Tool to Check the Quality of Articles German professor Stock created a new tool that allows checking the quality of articles posted on Wikipedia and stated, Wiki–Watch serves as a research tool indicating lack of sources and evaluating the reliability of every entry made, using WikiTrust's color code system to display reputation of a text according to the reputation and number of revisions by users. Wiki–Watch analyzes every Wikipedia entry ever created in a few seconds, checks the number of sources used in the article and the quality of editing (para. 2). Wiki–Watch uses a color codes system to check the reputation of the article by figuring out how many times people revised the article. White color means reliable information; therefore, yellow color has an opposite meaning. This system also checks for the credibility of the article and emphasizes individual words used in the article. Many Editors to Correct the Errors Wikipedia counts 75,000 editors who check the articles and their content to make sure that the information is valid and reliable. • 13. The Importance Of Finding Useful And Strong Evidence Finding useful and strong evidence is always one of the most difficult, yet one of the most important aspectpart of writing an essay. Evidence is the foundationbase of an essay and all the essay's content relies on the evidence to support it and make a powerful statement. Most college students are familiar with the concept of finding and using evidence to support their arguments in their essays. It has been something that we have learned in grade school that we have all executed on all of our essays. Evidence is used in order to make all statements and arguments deemed correct. I need to find a perfect balance between the two so i have the perfect amount of my own work and analysis and the evidence I need to include in order to justify my analysis. Another weakness I think is the way I cite my sources. I'm not completely sure the best way to cite my source. I know that I need to have a works cited part but I struggle with incorporating my citation into the actual text. Some strengths that I have are my organization. I was able to split my article into separate sections and each section describes a different factor that students should take account of when finding sources and evidence for their writings. I also think a strength of mine was relating to the audience because I know that my audience is college students, so incorporated different scenarios and situations that they would relate to more. For example, I know that college students are typically very experienced in social media, so I incorporated a section about social media because I know that many college students may not know that using social media as a new source is not resourceful. An odorless and colorless gas that occurs because of an incomplete combustion of fuels, when people get exposed to CO gas, it starts to displace the oxygen levels in the body, and this is what leads to carbon monoxide poisoning. Because carbon monoxide has no taste, color or odor, you cannot detect it with your senses. In dangerous concentrations, humans indoors have no method of detecting it until they have grown ill. If you start to notice flu–like symptoms, it can cause you to ignore the earlier signs of a CO poisoning because you figure you are just sick. According to the CDC, around 500 individuals die from an unintentional CO poisoning every year within the US, and they estimate that between 8,000–15,000 individuals have to be treated at the hospital for this dangerous problem every year. Also, make sure that you are keeping your fuel burning appliances at the right level of maintenance. What are some other sources of carbon monoxide? The Company Act defines a share as 'movable property transferable in the manner provided by the articles of the company.'(PratapGiri S. 2013, p152) The two main types of shares are common shares and preferred shares. Types of shares: 1.Common shares Common share (ordinary shares)is an equity investment which represents common ownership in a company and a claim on a portion of profits which is known as dividends. The Aquila Resources Inc. is the company behind this proposal, and they said "it will invest more than $300 million to extract gold, zinc, copper and silver along the Menominee River" (Bergquist, 2016). The Menominee river is part of the border between Wisconsin and Michigan. The mine will have large effects on the environment and economy for Lake Michigan and Wisconsin. The next paragraphs will discuss the positive and negative effects that the Back Forty could create. One side would be for the mine and say that the economic benefits would outweigh the negative effects on the environment, while the opposing side would say the opposite. To begin, those who are for mining would say that the Back Forty will have positive effects on the economy in places near it. Many people could assume that opening a mine could create more jobs, and essentially help the economy. One example, from another mine from Hunter Valley, is that mining "provided the major source of energy for industry, transport and economic development," (Cottle, 2013). In particular, attention will be given to the main sources of conflicts, such as poor communication amongst individuals and values and personalities clashes. Secondly, an analysis of the repercussions that can arise due to conflicts will be provided, and both positive as well as negative consequences will be taken into account. Thirdly, the current paper will explore and discuss the main conflict resolution strategies. Lastly, the paper will examine the BIG FIVE personality traits and discuss their influence on conflict management. According to Freud and his Psychoanalytical view, conflicts and therefore psychic pain are two inescapable characteristics of the human conditions (Freud & Gay, 1989). Although Freud was mainly referring to psychic and internal conflicts, it is possible to make a connection between Freud's theory on internal conflicts and the more practical conflicts that occur within the workplace. Freud argues that internal conflicts are caused by the clashing of instinctual drives and social expectations, two opposite agencies (Freud & Gay, 1989). Thomas Paine claims that some of its people will have many accomplishments other will not; thus through hunger, disease, misfortune and death it is inevitable that the people will set up some form of government that "...will establish a common interest with every part of the community, they will mutually and naturally support each other, and on this (not on the unmeaning name of king) depends the strength of government, and the happiness of the governed" (Thomas Paine, Common Sense). This statement reassures his beliefs towards democracy while showing how pointless English rule is to society. The pamphlet persuaded the colonists to declare independence from England, and take up arms in the Revolutionary War. Common Sense was highly effective in motivating the colonists to permanently separate from England and form a new nation. In American history,Thomas Paine became known as one our founding fathers. Paine's influence on American history is vastly significant, and remnants of that influence continues to be an aspect of our nation today. When analyzing Common Sense as a historical source, it can be seen that Paine utilizes the rhetorical appeals of ethos and logos to gain support for independence from England, and support for liberation from the hereditary succession in a monarchy. In order for Common Sense to be successful, it had to be able to reach a vast and diverse audience. Meaning, the ideas that Paine had needed to be conveyed to both farmers and scholars. Paine accomplished this by writing Common Sense in a way that sounded like a sermon when read aloud. By writing Common Sense in that manner it created an ethos appeal. During that era, people looked to their religious leaders for guidance, and to the bible to help shape their opinions about government and political affairs. It wasn't uncommon for people to make a strong biblical connection with their political belief. Since Common Sense could be preached to people, it became a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the ad, three distinct persuasive features–specifically, selfl–congruity (or source similarity), appeal to positive emotion, and source likeability–are implemented in a way that, though ineffective in attracting new customers, is effective in the purpose of reinforcing the brand image and product usefulness for existing customers. Self–congruity is described by Basfirinci as "the match between product–user image and the audience's self–concept" (p. 59); Basfirinci's research (2014) subsequently demonstrates how a high amount of self–congruity in an advertisement will increase its effectiveness specifically when the image aligns with the audience's ideal self–concept and not their practical one. • 28. A Common Source Of Conflict Essay A common source of conflict in India is the lack of a Uniform Civil Code. This argument stems from the discrimination Indian women face under religious personal laws. A Uniform Civil Code replaces patriarchal personal laws with a common set of laws that would govern each citizen and cover matters relating to marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption and maintenance. While India is a democracy, Indian leaders recognize that there are several religious groups living within their borders so they strive to be a pluralist country, a country where there is more than just one center of power, which in India 's case are Muslims, Hindus, and Christians. While this approach looks good in theory, it leaves critical matters such as marriage, dowry, and property rights solely in the hands of religious leaders. This approach allows for the subjectivity ofreligion to be exploited and removes the checks and balances system that many countries thrive on. The discriminatory nature of these laws is a direct antithesis to the equality that the Constitution grants all of its citizens. While religious leaders argue that changing these laws is an assault on the rights provided to them, it 's also critical to note that they directly assault the laws granted to Indian women. While Articles 25 through 30 of the Indian Constitution protect religious freedom and cultural rights of minorities, Articles 14 through 24 ensure an individual 's rights to equality and freedom. Furthermore, I now have a better understanding of what I should include in my synthesizing process. When I had passed in my first synthesis, a lot of the feedback that was given to me was to further evaluate my context. It taught me how to closely match similar ideas together for a single analysis. It was interesting to weave out information from one text and pair it with another. For example, in Synthesis #1, I included both authors, Barbara Ehrenreich and Robert Reich. Ehrenreich's piece of writing talked about the living conditions of a maid while Reich focused his work on sinking boats. Even though each author talked about different circumstances, they both discussed income inequality. Building my synthesizing skills was a major advantage to me. • 36. Joy Is Not Just Happiness In our everyday lives, joy has become synonymous with both happiness and pleasure. We have diminished the meaning of the word by using it in place of the more appropriate terms in order to provide emphasis. C.S. Lewis takes more literal definition of joy, and so assigns it more significance in his mind, separating it from any other emotion. Though he acknowledges that oftentimes happiness and pleasure occur simultaneously with joy, they are not the root cause, nor are they the same emotion. I think the best distinction Lewis makes between happiness and pleasure is when he states "Joy... must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable longing" (Lewis 72). This look into the root of joy demonstrates that joy is not just happiness, it is more complex and not always a fully positive emotion. There can be sadness and longing behind the joy, but it does not diminish the great properties of joy. Because joy is so great it is often sought, but as Lewis says "it is never a possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or still 'about to be'" (Lewis 78). The fleeting nature of joy only adds to the intrigue, as it often comes at the most unexpected times. Lewis recognizes this, as he titled the book "Surprised by Joy." Lewis also thinks that one's definition of joy is constantly changing with our experiences. As he learned more about some subject, one that used to bring him joy to study, he "realizes that this was something quite different from the original Joy." ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More was a rarity among political figures: a man who wouldn't lie about his principles, even to save his own life. He was Henry VIII's chancellor, and a loyal and highly effective administrator. A lot can be said either about his cruelty or about his sainthood and loyalty to the King. Using my own knowledge and the information from the sources, I can state that Thomas More was not a cruel man, considering the commonness and customs in which people of that time lived. More, a major humanist, was acknowledged to be one of England's greatest thinkers ever, and far ahead of his time. Four centuries before anyone offered women an equal education, More ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Peter Ackroyd attacks More almost entirely on grounds of his own religious partisanship, pointing out that More, in his official capacity, sent six heretics to burn at the stake, but neglecting to mention that More's contemporaries enthusiastically killed hundreds of thousands of Catholics. Edward Hall in Source O says: "he...had a great wit, but it was so mingled with taunting and mocking that it seemed...that he thought nothing to be well spoken except he had ministered some mock in the communication". This explains that he could never be cruel, but only could have aggressive and offensive manner of speaking, (as far as the source acknowledges) which nobody liked and nothing that could be a hint of cruelty. Therefore, Hall only says about More as about an unpleasant man with a cruel tongue. Of course, we can't deny that Hall could have been biased as he lived at the same time as More and could have been his supporter. R.W. Chambers' source is probably the most sensible, clear and qualitative one. All this because it includes clear strong evidence: "when More was increasingly in power, there were no death sentences (1520–1531!!!)...; during the few months he was neither in power nor in favour there were three; during the three years of his retirement (1532–1535) there were fifteen of sixteen". This is why, in my opinion, this source best proves that More could not be a cruel man: it provides certain facts. "The figures ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
