The First Half Of The 19th Century
The first half of the 19th century was a time of sweeping changes. With transportation, and factories increasing, North America was in for a major
upgrade. While all of those things are going on, the two regions that made up the growing nation was the North and South. These two sides were
very different in their approach of lifestyle which would soon lead to conflicts. Two issues stood out more than others as the North and South headed
towards civil war. One reason increase of tariffs and taxes the Congress placed on the south to ship goods to other countries. The other was the idea of
keeping slavery in the country. The tariffs placed economic inequality between the northern states and the southern states. For the South, plantations
and farms where sugar, tobacco, and cotton were the main crop brought much of the economic growth. Money was made off of these products through
being sold to other countries overseas. In the 17th century, America was only colonies for England during that time in order to prosper the colonist
would send their goods across the sea to England, the mother land. From 1813 to 1840 the North had begun to create factories that could help make
products out of cotton, sugar, tobacco faster. This created tension between the north and south due to prosperity fluctuations in the economy of the
Unites States. "The reason for this shift was that after 1815, the United States developed self–sustaining domestic markets for farm produce and

First Century Women
This information really tells me that women were treated poorly with respect back in the First Century because: Women were considered unclean
because they would normally give birth and do other tasks. It was considered unnecessary for girls to go to school since they had no place in religion.
The wife would normally have to act as the subordinate to her husband which would mean obeying him and his rules. Women were the people that did
mainly household jobs e.g. making bread, making meals/supper, keeping the fire burning, retrieving water from the well and managing the children and
the house.
They were treated in this manner because they had to abide by the rules.
This information tells me how the women were treated and how Christianity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Christianity really helped equal men and women's rights because Paul said to the men "To treat your wives like you would treat Christ with love
and respect" and Christianity was spread and grew all across Palestine. After this was done the women got given mainly the same rights as men.
This information tells me that women were in charge of managing the house and drawing water out from the well. If the women had to leave the
house to collect water from the well they always to be escorted by a male in public.
This information tells me about their everyday chores and what they had to do and what they couldn't do. – Couldn't do: Divorce their Husband They

Glass Blowing in the First Century
The production and creation of beautiful art pieces using glass only began after glass blowing was used in the First Century BC. Two unique artists
have used this medium to create work that is both beyond its time and surpasses many other glass works. The first artist, Louis Comfort Tiffany, was
the son of the founder of Tiffany and Company, Charles Lewis Tiffany. His work focuses on aesthetic beauty while encompassing the techniques he
established throughout his career. The second artist, Beverly Fishman, is an artist from Philadelphia who has not only made a name for herself, but has
also accepted the Artist–in–Residence position at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Both of these individuals have a strong passion and drive that
elevates their work to the next level. The difference between the work of these two artists lies in the conceptual realm. Connecting work to outside
concepts gives the artist versatility, while aesthetically pleasing work reaches the viewer on a much deeper level. Both of these strategies allow the
artist to express themself, but have profoundly different influences on the receptive audience. Louis Comfort Tiffany is known for his array of works,
which includes both glass and non–glass pieces. He not only designed stained glass windows, lamps, glass mosaics and blown glass, but he is also
known for his work in ceramics, enamels, jewelry and metalwork. The piece by Tiffany that will be the main focus of this argument is his
Flower–form Vase from 1910.

First Nations Of The Twenty First Century
In his book 'First Nations of the Twenty First Century', James Frideres raises the question "Why do the health concerns of First Nations differ from
those of mainstream Canada?" I hope to show that the health and well–being challenges faced by First Nations people are different from those of
mainstream Canadians primarily because of the history of colonization, Canadian government policies and social acceptance of those policies.
In order to explore the state of the health and well–being of First Nations peoples I first need to explain the measuring stick used to determine health and
well–being. According to the World Health Organization, "health is a complete state of mental, physical and social well–being, not only the absence of
disease". In keeping with this philosophy Statistics Canada, collect data on what they term "Non–medical determinants of health". These determinants
fall into the following categories: Health behaviors, Living and working conditions, Personal resources and Environmental factors. Frideres' question
suggests a difference exists so I will compare the health and well–being statuses of Indigenous and mainstream Canadians to understand just what
differences exist between both groups. Statistics show that Indigenous people measure lower on almost all aspects of well–being when compared to
Non–Indigenous populations. To demonstrate how pervasive the disparity is I would like to review some statistics for each determinant listed above.

Women 's Work And Worship Of The First Century Churches
Women in Paul's Letters: Women played an important role in the work and worship of the first century churches. In Paul's letters he portrays
women as equals to men. Paul's ideas were to renew a community of God's people; including all races, sexes, and religious backgrounds. While
some people will argue that Paul is all for the equality of women, others say that he is misogynistic. Some things that were written may sound harsh
to our ears in today's society; however, when considering the era that these letters were written in, most of the things that were written would not
have been taken in a bad way. In Paul's letters women had various roles and positions, Phoebe was a deacon and a benefactor. Paul perceived
Andronicus and Junia as "prominent among the apostles". (Romans 16:7). In Romans Verse 12 he describes Tryphaena and Tryphosa as "workers in
the Lord". While he didn't really place restrictions or limits on women he did encourage women to wear a head dress while worshiping in Corinthians
11:2–17. He also stated in Corinthians 14:33b–36 that women should be silent in the churches. This contradicts his acceptance of women from his
previous statements in Corinthians 11. In Romans 16:1–2 we are introduced to Phoebe who was a deacon and a benefactor. A benefactor is someone
who gives money or helps a person for a cause. In the first few lines of Romans 16 it is said "I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the
church in Cenchreae. I ask you to receive her in

Essay about Twentieth Century Evolves to the Twentieth First
Anderson (2007) claims, "The technological innovations, improved surgical techniques, and revolutions in drug therapies presented another problem:
The field of medical ethic, or bioethics as it is now called, had to undergo radical change to keep pace with improvements in diagnosis and patient
care" (Anderson, 2007, p. 262). Technology unquestionably created changes in every area of our lives, particularly throughout the last two hundred
years, and in no industry is that more clear than the field of medicine. Throughout this time, machines began to assume a bigger role as innovators
improved and invented better approaches to diagnose illness and treat wounds. As healthcare continues to evolve, so does restorative technology, and

With HIV being a major global epidemic, we are still seeing high numbers and new cases arise every year. In the twentieth century the syndrome
was the most famous epidemic and still is considered to be so today with many people dying from the disease. In the healthcare community the top
priority for HIV/ AIDS for both periods have been prevention and access to treatment. Researchers continue to push forward toward a cure for this
epidemic as they did in the twentieth century through clinical trials and exploration. We also see similarities when it comes to the cost of health care
treatment. We are still seeing today how health care is a distress to many people who are not able to afford it just as it was prohibitive to persons
without medical insurance in the past (Anderson, 2007).
The medical advancements and "improvements in twentieth century medicine involved inventions of a vast number of technologies and medical
equipment for diagnosis and treatment (Anderson, 2007. p 268). These medical advancements certainly influenced health and medicine today.
Technological improvements made it possible for physicians to provide medical care and more accurately diagnosis illnesses and trauma with
less–invasive methods. "The accelerated growth of computer technology that began in the 1970s has paved the way for many dramatic changes in

A blog allows web savvy students to legitimately use their favourite source of information, the internet, and make use of their skills for the purpose of
the programme. It increases the students' motivation to take active part in the learning process since blogging is fun and interesting. Blogs develop the
communication skills of students that are less internet savvy through peer to peer learning.
Through comments and other forms of feedback, it develops critical thinking. Blogs make learning flat, not hierarchical, with the teacher as control
point rather than unique source of information and interpretation. Instant messaging can be an effective online learning tool that can build community
and foster collaborative learning. It is synchronous communication. Synchronous text communication tools allows two or more users to communicate
via typed text messages in real–time. Students can negotiate meaning, which is a cognitive process that speakers use to understand one another better,
that is, to increase the comprehensibility of language input.

Civil Disobedience In The Twenty First Century
In the twenty first century, civil disobedience is the only way to further our constitution to fit the unique needs of our society today. The media and
the Internet influence the lives of every citizen in America every day and allow people to communicate with so many that otherwise would never
be able to communicate with, leading to more opportunities of disputes and disagreements. When laws were written a long time ago, the framers
had no idea the world would evolve this way, so obviously the framers could not write laws that fit needs regarding the new society. When a law is not
fit any more or a revision is needed, people need to somehow show how the law or revision is needed and to spread the word via social media.

Twenty–first–century culture is inclined to award trophies to all participants of a sport, even if the participant did little to contribute to the team's
success; they all receive participation awards. In doing this, it may remove the incentive to be the best in that sport. Mathematical equations no longer

First–Century Palestine and the New Testament Gospels
The authors of the New Testament Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, each wrote their accounts from occurrences that took place in
first–century Palestine, and the subject of each book is Jesus. Jesus's life, ministry, and teachings were within the same century that the gospel writers
wrote their accounts. Although little is known about first–century Palestine, there is a sufficient amount of documented history to discover how the era
and region affected the writings of the Gospels. Palestine, known today as Israel, had a clearly defined culture and incredibly limited resources, and it
is inspiring to affirm how these few resources are represented so richly in each of the Gospels. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

nature, even to their deaths (Smith 2961–62). Jesus, and the writers of the gospels chose to use sheep because of the people's significant and universal

The Literary Works Of The First Century Romans
Understanding ancient civilizations is always a hard process. The only resources that are readily available, are the texts written by people of the
times. But which helps better the understanding of the society and political structures: historical or literary works? The first century Romans are a
great example of this. The literary works of the first century Romans, help further the knowledge about the ancient civilization. While the historical
works do show a lot of the facts from the era, the literary works possess more information about the people 's lives in that time. The political aspects of
the Romans were very advanced. The government system they had set up, was better than any of the other civilizations of the time. (Virgil, Aeneid)
Under the rule of Augustus, the Romans were at some of the strongest times of the empire 's existence. The empire in this time conquered most of the
known world. They were not a force to be taken lightly. Virgil connected the political aspects of his time to the Greek gods quite often. He would
reference the Roman empire as being strong and mighty much like the gods. (Virgil, Aeneid) He also described the empire as always in a state of
tranquility, order, and emotional stability. (Virgil, Aeneid) Augustus was also highly regarded to during his reign. One historical fact from the Aeneid
that Virgil mentions, would be the hatred between Carthage and Rome. This was truly a big struggle during the ancient Roman times. The way that

Transportation In The First Half Of The 19th Century Essay
During the first half of the
19th century, improvements in transportation developed
rather quickly. Roads, steamboats, canals, and railroads all
had a positive effect on the American economy. They also
provided for a more diverse United States by allowing more
products to be sold in new areas of the country and by
opening new markets. Copied from ideas begun in England
and France, American roads were being built everywhere. In
an attempt to make money, private investors financed many
turnpikes, expecting to profit from the tolls collected.
Although they did not make as much money as expected,
these roads made it possible for cheaper (not cheap)
domestic transportation of goods. It still cost more to

The water allowed horses,
once only able to pull a ton of materials, to now pull over a
hundred tons with the same amount of work. These canals
were not only economical for exporters, but also for the
state. Tolls alone collected from the ErieCanal had, by
1825, already paid for the entire project ($7,000,000), and
now was making a substantial amount of profit. Even though
it had not totally expanded yet, the cheapest, most
economical method of transportation was the railroad.
Speed, durability, and safety all contributed to the success of
it. State legislatures and the national government all provided
aid to the railroad companies by decreased the tax on rail
iron. During this time period, manufacturing also boomed.
New ideas and inventions made it faster to produce
products. However, it is because of these new modes of
transportation that this was ever able to occur. The cotton
gin, invented by Eli Whitney, would never have been able to
develop fully if the transportation system did not make it
easy to obtain cotton from the south. With these new
technological breakthroughs, American economic growth
was significantly increased. By allowing cheaper importation
and exportation of goods, manufacturers were able to
produce more of these products. Also, it opened new
markets to different places. In the northwest, where coffee

In thinking about living in the first century Palestine as a Jew, I choose to focus on factors that influence political and religious loyalties: There is only
one God.
In the first century Palestine, during this period, many people from Judaism believed that there was only one God because of the Jewish biblical
tradition. Since "both Jesus and his original disciples were children of Israel, that primarily explainable in terms of Jewish customs and beliefs" (pg.
43). The shared beliefs were from the Hebrew Bible, which proclaimed that there is one God of Israel by the name of Yahweh (Deut. 6:4–5). They did
this by remembering the most important commandment (Mark 12:28–30). This made them loyal to worship the God of Israel named Yahweh.

The definition of the word family was changed completely. Before the industrial revolution family used to work all together. For example, the uncle,
cousin, mother, brother, etc. used to work all together as a group so that they could live and because the word family used to have the meaning of
working together. Also marriages used to happen not because of love, but because of economic stability. Imagine that there is a woman who is poor
and a rich man wants to marry her; she would marry the man because her father would force her. Woman before the industrial revolution would have
around six to eight kids because the more kids the more the help they would have while farming. The turning point came after the industrial
revolution when the word family meant something very different. Family now was only the nuclear family (mom, dad, brothers). Families have now
been more private and became disconnected from the world. Marriages occurred not because of an economic interest, but because there was actually

First Century Judaism
Many see in the first century Judaism a unified or state religion from which Christianity sprung off. Truth is, looking at Judaism from a monolithic
perspective might be the reason why some understand it to be a monolithic block. Though one cannot justify the claim that Christianity split off of
Judaism as a new religion, it remains certain that the former finds its origin in the weakness of the latter, a process that happened over a few
generations. However, this should not be taken to mean that Christianity was originally a simple outgrowth of Judaism under Jesus because the former
can be anything but a different form of Judaism. It is indeed the fulfillment of Judaism.

First century Judaism meets Christianity in their conception of God whom they describe in the quintessential verbal expression of "Shema Yisrael"

Judaism in the way they behave in accordance with the Law of Moses. Also, the concept of resurrection taught by Jesus was also embraced by the

One of the many ways Jesus' teachings differ from the Jews' was on their Messianic beliefs. It is true that both Jews and Christians were in the wait

Intuition was huge to the thought of transcendentalists. The self–actualized individual is able to make choices on their own and be more independent
based on the nature of reality, rather than having society tell people what they ought to do. The transcendentalists were involved deeply in a form

A Marketing Mix for the Twenty–First Century: New Media, New Markets, and New Messes
Introduction The twentieth century was a period of rapid development and change in the world of international business and geopolitical affairs,
reshaping the world in both practical and political terms into something of a more cohesive unit one rife with conflicts, to be sure, but a unit
nonetheless. What was once a set of disparate countries and populations that could not communicate with each other over intervals shorter than weeks
or even months is now an interconnected globe that can communicate instantaneously and can transport goods faster than it could transport news just a
century ago. This has led to many new opportunities for a variety of businesses, and indeed has given rise to (and been prodded onwards by) many
newer industries, such that economic growth and overall wealth have reached heights never before seen. There are also, of course, new challenges and
new conflicts that rise in the world of globalization and ever–faster technology. From directly practical issues in the supply chain to the more abstract
elements of brand identity and ethical concerns, every bit of progress in the business world has come with a series of considerations and potentials that
required examination and reevaluation of old practices and concepts. Ideas about the ideal workforce and the necessity of centralized control began to

The weaving process was similarly improved by advances in technology. Edmund Cartwright's power loom, developed in the 1780s, allowed for the
mass production of the cheap and light cloth that was desirable both in Britain and around the Empire. Steam technology would produce yet more
change. Constant power was now available to drive the dazzling array of industrial machinery in textiles and other industries, which were installed up
and down the country.
Also another innovation that changed martial lives was, the first washing machine was a washboard called the scrub board invented in 1797. There

First Century Jewish Concepts of the Messiah
WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY
1st CENTURY JEWISH CONCEPTS OF THE MESSIAH
1st CENTURY JEWISH CONCEPTS OF THE MESSIAH Religion as seen by many is a set of principles which gives you a purpose to live and lead
your life. For others it is a force and a law which restricts their freedom and their choice of living their life. Despite how it appears to be and how it
may be defined, there are several religions in the world such as Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and more. Each one of them may differ in the
set of beliefs and the principles which they lay but all of these world religions preach some universal truths; spreading the message of love,
abstaining from crime and doing no harm to the others. Since every religion has a whole new concept of dimensions worth studying, this paper
focuses the religion followed by the Jews; Judaism. It might not be new if it is stated that religion was one of the major reasons behind the
establishment of the state of Israel. In other words, the land of Israel was created to recognize Jews and give them a place to live and settle.
However, apart from providing them shelter and safeguarding their rights, Judaism is a very old religion with a number of beliefs. Amongst the
several principles of faith, Judaism is a monotheistic religion as they belief in the existence of One and Eternal God. Jews have a faith in the dead
being resurrected and their holy book is the Torah. Moreover, their greatest prophet is Moses and they belief that there

The First Crusade In The Twenty-First Century
On July 15, 1099, during a sweltering Levantine summer day, the crusader host broke into the holy city of Jerusalem. Overcome with piety and
bloodlust, they proceeded to massacre the populace. Eyewitness accounts speak of horrible atrocities: unarmed civilians shot down from the roof of the
al–Aqsa mosque, women and children cut down in the streets, cowering people in the Dome of Rock decapitated by ruthless Franks. The slaughter
was so great that streets were said to be covered ankle–deep with the blood of the thousands of victims. Those who survived were forced to drag the
bodies of their neighbors outside the city to prevent the stench from becoming overwhelming. Thus ended the sacred venture of the First Crusade, with

They condemned the crusaders as violent psychopaths in search of nothing more than land and wealth and the First Crusade provided a perfect
opportunity for such ambitions. Muslims could be killed without suffering the consequence of sin and their land confiscated for the greater good of
Christendom. In more recent times, historians have backed away from the condemnatory tone of their 6 ancestors; however, some still maintain that
the crusade was fought mainly for the acquisition of land. To them, the massacre of Jerusalem (and indeed other massacres, like at Antioch) was
committed out of bloodlust and ignorance of Islam in the effort to win lordship and wealth. Others, such as John France, state that massacre was a
common part of the medieval siege and that any settlement taken through assault could fully expect to be slaughtered by their captives.
1
There have been some, like Thomas Asbridge, who have stated that violence and piety, acts of which were displayed numerous times by the crusaders,
coexisted in the medieval world. According to Dr. Asbridge, it was not unusual to see such acts happen

The First Black Theatre In The 19th Century
"Black theatre, in the United States, dramatic movement encompassing plays written by, for, and about African Americans." (Encyclopaedia
Britannica) The first black theatre originated in the early 19th century. However, all those plays were written by white people. Although the play may
consist of black characters; only white persons would play the parts. Between the ending of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century is
when the black people were really allowed to act in plays. Instead of the black characters being play by white people, the black people were finally able
to participate. "African American Theatre is a vibrant and unique entity enriched by ancient Egyptian rituals, West African folklore, and European

Time Frames In The Thirty-First Century
Time frames in the thirty–first century. In our global village, irrespective of country, regardless of class, regardless of gender, regardless of sexual
orientation, all people are equal, free and happy and just enjoying life. The human average life of one hundred and twenty years. Machinery in various
fields to replace human manual labor, one–third of all the necessities of life only human resources can satisfy all the supplies, and two–thirds of the
population in the kindergarten age can enter retirement. The only problem facing humanity is: who should be the one–third person to work, who
should be the twe–third pure enjoyment of life? Because all men are created equal, there is no standard to judge who should be divided among the

First Century: Compare And Contrast Essay
Christianity and Judaism diverged by the end of the first century because Christians had been persecuted, had differed views about Jesus, and had
become anti–Jewish (Ehrman, 350). In the first century, Christians experienced persecution through imprisonment and losing rights to property
(Ehrman, 350). This was done not because Christianity was illegal, but because Christians were seen as harmful to society due to closed worship that
non– Christians were not allowed to experience or understand (Ehrman, 358). Those who were persecuted were gentiles and not Jewish followers
(Ehrman, 352). This may be because the Jewish followers did not agree with how it was asked of them to reject what God had created to accept Jesus
(Ehrman, 352). Gentile

Racism in the Twenty-First Century
Racism in the 21st Century As the 2008 presidential election proceeded to break racial barriers in America, many people have come to believe that
racism in America no longer exists since we now have a Black president. However, This could not be anything further from the truth. When many
people think of racism, they think of blunt discriminatory actions made against people of color. Thoughts of segregation and the Ku Klux Klan
probably come to mind when people envision what racism may look like. Since many of this is now considered illegal or less evident in today's
society, many people may believe that racism is no longer a major issue. Racism in today's society, however, is constructed differently. Robert M.
Entman notes that American society has changed from "traditional to modern racism" (206). Modern racism is more complex within our political
and social systems. So how does racism still exist you ask? Racism still exists in our society because minorities remain to be the largest group of
people who are unemployed, disadvantaged in their ability to obtain a decent education, and misrepresented by the media. Minorities have a higher
rate of unemployment than whites in America. Black unemployment in America rose "from 15.3 to 15.5 percent" in March 2011, while only "7.9
percent of white workers were jobless" (Ross). The factors causing this lack of employment among minorities are explained as having to deal with
education, age, ethnic–sounding names on job applications,

The World During First Century Palestine
The World in First–Century Palestine was similar and different in many ways to the present. The Jews were in their Holy Land and proud to be the
chosen people of God. The Roman Empire occupied their land during the first century. First, Romans did not threaten their way of life. Later on with
higher taxes and greater oppression all changed. This led to political backstabbing, religious uprising and insurgency. More than a million people died,
mostly Jews. Back in that time religion guided the chosen people's lives more so than today. Jewish people had very important rituals. The term we
know as "unclean" had a different meaning in those times. Women did not have the same rights and freedoms that we have today. Crucifixion was
the extremist penalty to all the Jews in the Holy Land. Rituals, "Unclean", and crucifixion was part of normal everyday life in Palestine in the First
Century. The Jewish people had many rituals. There are important ones that will be looked at. Rituals baths were the most important. Those baths
are called Miqwaoth. "And yet, since the Law insisted on purity, the people needed a place to clean themselves." (Korb, S. P.106). There was public
and private baths. They were most common around the entrances to the Temple Mount. Long lines would form whenever there was a religious
festival. In order to get into the temple one had to be ritually pure. In order for them to do that, a dip in the public pool would do the trick. "Away

Roman Empire In The First-Century
Upon their return to Palestine after their release from exile, the Jews were struggling to "maintain their religious and social identity" (Wenham &
Walton, 2011, p. 7) and found themselves in the midst of great military powers, first the Greeks, and then the Romans. Their influences on the Jews
were remarkable. This essay will examine the Roman Empire in the 1st century AD by describing a typical Greco–Roman city, then discuss the various
levels of Roman administrative structure, explain where local authority resided in the cities/villages of 1st–century Palestine, and finally support with
Scripture the structure of authority within the Gospels and Acts. The typical Greco–Roman city was rich in Greek culture because of the influence of
Alexander. His influence succeeded in Hellenizing the region, in fact, Greek became the international language and was spoken everywhere, even in
synagogues (Wenham & Walton, 2011). Also known for their commerce and trade, these cities amassed great wealth. Herod, known for his extravagant
building projects, built lavish palaces, fortresses and theatres (Wenham & Walton, 2011). These cities were the epitome... Show more content on

included the Roman Senate. The Emperor had complete rule over the empire, and depending on the type of state or territory, the Emperor could have
direct control. If not under the direct control of the emperor, each region or city–state had a governor (or prefect or procurator) who then reported to the
emperor (Tomorad, 2014). Interesting to note that Jewish leaders (high priests) and families found privilege with the Roman administration and
became comfortable with the lifestyle that the Romans lived and took full advantage of it (Wenham & Walton,

Twenty-First Century Christianity
First century Christians founded their new identity on the understanding of being sinners, saved through Christ Jesus, and true people of God. The
Jews had a misinterpretation of the coming of the Messiah and they did not acknowledge his resurrection and believed Jesus was cursed by God for
being crucified. It was a necessity for the Apostles to preach the Gospel with truth and bring awareness to the people of the true interpretation of
scripture. The Apostles pleaded the people to get saved (2:40) and acknowledging their sin by repenting and get baptized (2:37–38). The opportunity of
repentance is a gift of God's mercy and grace to nullify our understanding and pride. Israelites considered themselves God's holy people (22:3; 26:4–5)
but they were sinning in ignorance (3:17). I am a sinner in nature and I will either sin intentionally or unintentionally. ThroughJesus Christ crucifixion
and resurrection, I am able to repent and ask for forgiveness with the confidence that my sins will be wiped out (3:19). Repentance and being able to

As being part of God's true people, I partake in the Abrahamic blessings. I am no longer of the world, God is my judge and I was called to spread the
gospel (4:19–20). I need to share the gift of salvation and opportunity to repent and forgiveness of sin which was given to me by God to others. God
confirms the first century Christian with the filling of the Holy Spirit and they spoke boldly (4:31). All people are lost without Jesus (11:17–18;
10:43), there is a great need for Christians to evangelize the good news. I am responsible as a steward of God to proclaim the good news to those

The First Wave Of Feminism In The Twentieth Century
Throughout the twentieth century, feminism became a common topic of discussion, especially among relatively young women, and today has not
proven any different. Feminism is divided into three time periods or "waves." The first wave began in the early twentieth century as women began
fighting for the right to vote, while the second wave began nearly half a century later and targeted other equality issues, such as discrimination. The
world is currently in the middle of the third wave of feminism, which has become more personal and responsive to the failures of the second wave.
Though many people still fight for the equivalency of rights between men and women, feminism has changed greatly since the first wave, and the third
wave's differences are now negatively impacting the female minds of today. Though modesty can be an opinionated topic, it is important to address
how feminism has changed fashion and its timidity. During the first wave of feminism, women often presented themselves in skirts or dresses that
came down as far as the knees or longer. Ladies dressed with class and embraced the beauty of a woman. Today, however, feminists present themselves
much differently. For example, one of today's leading feminists, Emma Watson, was recently shown on the front of a magazine hardly wearing any
clothing. Many feminists today claim to be embracing the human body when they flaunt their attributes. In reality, they are showing the world intimate
parts of themselves that

By design twenty–first century learning prepares students to be successful, contributing citizens in the locale of today's global society. Twenty–first
century learning requires students to understand how to learn independently and develop strong critical thinking and interpersonal communication
skills (Mcleod, 2010). The principles and practices of progressive education convey a striking resemblance to the contemporary principles associated
with twenty–first century learning (Little, 2013). Progressives from the twentieth century and twenty–first century educators both have focused on the
particulars of schooling, teaching, instruction, and concern for the individual leaners through the curriculum (Hewitt, 2009; Little, 2013).
In the late nineteenth, the factory system gathered people into America's industrial cities (Waks, 2013). The old system of the home and
neighborhood that trained children in the physical realities and social responsibilities of life was voided by the factory system (Waks). Only schools
remained available as agencies to provide basic real–world experience and social responsibility (Waks). Progressive educators saw this challenge as a
way to emphasize new teaching

Dbq Buddhism In The First Century
Buddhism in the 1st Millennium
Buddhism as a universalizing religion in the first millennium was influenced by many different factors during the time it spread across Asia. Buddhism
both adapted and resisted some of these factors. As a result of these factors Buddhism transformed, created new forms of art and literature, and also
universalized Asia. Buddhism was also able to surpass several features such as distance and differing cultures but was resisted by other influences
Buddhism was transformed by Hellenism and other east–west connections during the first millennium CE. "In addition to Hellenism, other layers of
influence came together in South Asia through increased seafaring and interaction with nomadic peoples."1 These Kushans brought ... Show more

The far–reaching and appealing aspect of Buddhism allowed some Chinese Buddhists to travel Asia to learn about its peoples and origins. For example,
a Chinese Buddhist, Faxian, who traveled through South Asia to learn more about the religion collected many original texts and translated them back
in China. He described " They still followed the course of the P'oo na river, on the banks of which, left and right, there were twenty monasteries,
which might contain three thousand monks; and (here) the Law of Buddha was still more flourishing." (Doc E) This description is about the
importance of Buddhism was to South Asia and its power to overcome so many barriers and universalize South Asia. This is also shown in a
description of by another Chinese Buddhist by the name of Xuanzang. His reflection of his time in South Asia for the Tang emperor describes a
unique, but totally different world from that of China. It says,"Now Buddha having been born in the western region and his religion having spread
eastwards, the sounds of the words translated have been often mistaken, the phrases of the different regions have been misunderstood on account of
the wrong sounds, and thus the sense has been lost. The words being wrong, the idea has been perverted." (Doc G) By this Xuanzang means how the
original word of the Buddha has been so distorted by the language barrier that its is almost impossible to understand what he truly meant when it is

Racial Profiling And The Twenty-First Century
Just recently in the news, a seventh grade Muslim student brought a homemade clock to school for a science project. When he gave the clock to the
teacher, she immediately called the police and had him arrested. This is one example of racial profiling. If Americans understood the prejudices of
minorities, less stereotyping would occur. Racial profiling is being suspicious of a certain person because of race or a stereotype. Racial profiling goes
back to slavery. In 1693, Philadelphia's court officials gave police the right to stop any black person on the streets. This act kept going through the Jim
Crow era and now the twenty–first century. Racial profiling is common in many United States cities. Supporters defend racial profiling by emphasizing

First Century Christian Persecution
First century Christians were persecuted for their faith, because of the assumptions made by the Romans, and sometimes just because they didn't like
them. Even though the first century Christians had it tough, their persecution shaped Christian history. Even though they were persecuted and treated
like trash, many converts were made. These Christians made history and put are religion on the map. So what were their terrors like, and why did
others join the faith that was being slaughtered? Two words bravery and faith. First century Christians were mostly persecuted by Roman authorities. It
was believed that thousands were persecuted, but only twelve out of fifty–four emperors went out of their way to persecute Christians. There was

He punished the Christian clergy by ordering them to sacrifice to other gods, if not the punishment was exile. This changed a year later to death.
Christian senators, knights, and ladies also had punishments. These punishments could be any of the following fines, reduction of rank, and/or
death. He also banned Christians from visiting cemeteries to see their dead. Diocletian was harsh and long. It started in three hundred and three and
ended twenty one years later. His reign was known as the 'Great Persecution'. His reason for persecuting the Christians was unclear, but most have
thought that it was from the influence of Galarius, Porphyry, or for political unity. He burned Christian books and churches, however, he didn't want
it to get violent. His wish was never granted and the persecution was extremely violent. These Roman emperors caused pain and strife for Christians.
Some were ruthless others, not so much. The worst rule was under Diocletian and Nero. However, along with these rough times, peace found them,
allowing Christians to catch their breath before it started up again. Life wasn't easy for them, and it didn't get any easier. Persecuted for their faith,
most would've forsaked God and ran off. So as I have learned more about them, I can say that they were brave and knew that they were repaying God,
for when bad times struck them, God didn't leave, he helped them

The First Half Of The Twentieth Century
Sidi Mahdi Mardakli The first half of the twentieth century has been the most dreadful, and the most unstable of all time for the humanity. Wars,
conflicts, and genocides plagued many parts of the world during that time especially in Europe which became the main battlefield for two major
wars. It is certainly the worst period of human kind's history. Millions lost their lives in what became the deadliest period of humanity. Beyond its
dreadful aspect, this period showed how radical nationalism combined with deep imperial rivalries and "frantic scrambles for land and resources"
came close to wipe out a whole generation and may be the whole world. Some attitudes and practices made the ground to all these situations. But

Battle for lands and territories As mentioned earlier, Europeans powers and Japan start looking for land and resources in other places. "The period
between 1870 and 1945 was characterized by sustained and intensive imperial activity that remapped significant portions of the globe". In what became
a fierce competition for land and resources, the "territorial accumulation became both a symbolic and material index of national power and international
standing: advocates of colonialism in recently unified nation–states of Germany and Italy as well as in Meiji Japan gave particularly strong expression
to the idea that an extensive empire was a crucial indicator of a nation's strength and modernity." This element describes the feeling inside European
powers about their colonial policy. A deep nationalistic feeling about the competition for land was prevailing. New powerful empires were built
thanks to the land and resources controlled in other parts of the world. The German empire was an example. But "World War 1 ((1914
–1918) marked
the end of this empire: some German colonies were seized by rivals at the outset of the war, while the remaining territories were redistributed among
France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan under the provision of Article 22 of the Treaty of Versaille." German's

Nifty Fifties to the Twenty–First Century
Most of our grandparents remember the times of the fifties. A time of youthfulness, rebellion and rock and roll is what the fifties were all about. As the
teenagers of the twenty first century start to grow up, and have families of their own, they will also remember what their youth was like, as did their
grandparents. The teenagers of the fifties and the twenty–first century could be compared to day and night. The 1950's have come and gone, but it is
not an era that will be forgotten, the teenagers of the twenty–first era will soon remember what it was like just as their grandparents are these days.

Divorce papers are handed out now days like candy to babies. If you are unhappy and married then why not get divorced until you find happiness. Most
teens of the twenty–first century have many friends whose parents are also divorced unlike the teens of the fifties.
In the fifties it was very common for teenagers to get married straight out of high school. The teenagers of the twenty–first century are sometimes not
committing to marriage until their late twenties, or even late thirties. Unlike the teenage women of the fifties, most girls now go onto college in hopes
of earning a higher standard of learning, which in turn gives them a chance to earn a higher standard of living. Most of the teen women in the fifties
depended upon their husbands to provide for them, to be the bread winner and wear the pants. Teen women of the twenty–first century are now much
more independent, and in the worst case scenario plan to make needs to provide for themselves in certain situations.
Poodle skirts and jumpers are definitely a thing of the past. Teens now are into jeans, shirts, and mini skirts. Destroyed jeans are a major hit with the
twenty–first century teens, if a fifty's teen had worn jeans with tons of holes in it, they were thought to be very poor. The bikini is a popular choice of

The First Half Of The 19Th Century

  • 1. The First Half Of The 19th Century The first half of the 19th century was a time of sweeping changes. With transportation, and factories increasing, North America was in for a major upgrade. While all of those things are going on, the two regions that made up the growing nation was the North and South. These two sides were very different in their approach of lifestyle which would soon lead to conflicts. Two issues stood out more than others as the North and South headed towards civil war. One reason increase of tariffs and taxes the Congress placed on the south to ship goods to other countries. The other was the idea of keeping slavery in the country. The tariffs placed economic inequality between the northern states and the southern states. For the South, plantations and farms where sugar, tobacco, and cotton were the main crop brought much of the economic growth. Money was made off of these products through being sold to other countries overseas. In the 17th century, America was only colonies for England during that time in order to prosper the colonist would send their goods across the sea to England, the mother land. From 1813 to 1840 the North had begun to create factories that could help make products out of cotton, sugar, tobacco faster. This created tension between the north and south due to prosperity fluctuations in the economy of the Unites States. "The reason for this shift was that after 1815, the United States developed self–sustaining domestic markets for farm produce and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. First Century Women This information really tells me that women were treated poorly with respect back in the First Century because: Women were considered unclean because they would normally give birth and do other tasks. It was considered unnecessary for girls to go to school since they had no place in religion. The wife would normally have to act as the subordinate to her husband which would mean obeying him and his rules. Women were the people that did mainly household jobs e.g. making bread, making meals/supper, keeping the fire burning, retrieving water from the well and managing the children and the house. They were treated in this manner because they had to abide by the rules. This information tells me how the women were treated and how Christianity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Christianity really helped equal men and women's rights because Paul said to the men "To treat your wives like you would treat Christ with love and respect" and Christianity was spread and grew all across Palestine. After this was done the women got given mainly the same rights as men. This information tells me that women were in charge of managing the house and drawing water out from the well. If the women had to leave the house to collect water from the well they always to be escorted by a male in public. This information tells me about their everyday chores and what they had to do and what they couldn't do. – Couldn't do: Divorce their Husband They couldn't go to school They couldn't go further than the Court of Women in the Temple They were exempt from certain religious ... • 3. Glass Blowing in the First Century The production and creation of beautiful art pieces using glass only began after glass blowing was used in the First Century BC. Two unique artists have used this medium to create work that is both beyond its time and surpasses many other glass works. The first artist, Louis Comfort Tiffany, was the son of the founder of Tiffany and Company, Charles Lewis Tiffany. His work focuses on aesthetic beauty while encompassing the techniques he established throughout his career. The second artist, Beverly Fishman, is an artist from Philadelphia who has not only made a name for herself, but has also accepted the Artist–in–Residence position at the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Both of these individuals have a strong passion and drive that elevates their work to the next level. The difference between the work of these two artists lies in the conceptual realm. Connecting work to outside concepts gives the artist versatility, while aesthetically pleasing work reaches the viewer on a much deeper level. Both of these strategies allow the artist to express themself, but have profoundly different influences on the receptive audience. Louis Comfort Tiffany is known for his array of works, which includes both glass and non–glass pieces. He not only designed stained glass windows, lamps, glass mosaics and blown glass, but he is also known for his work in ceramics, enamels, jewelry and metalwork. The piece by Tiffany that will be the main focus of this argument is his Flower–form Vase from 1910. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. First Nations Of The Twenty First Century In his book 'First Nations of the Twenty First Century', James Frideres raises the question "Why do the health concerns of First Nations differ from those of mainstream Canada?" I hope to show that the health and well–being challenges faced by First Nations people are different from those of mainstream Canadians primarily because of the history of colonization, Canadian government policies and social acceptance of those policies. In order to explore the state of the health and well–being of First Nations peoples I first need to explain the measuring stick used to determine health and well–being. According to the World Health Organization, "health is a complete state of mental, physical and social well–being, not only the absence of disease". In keeping with this philosophy Statistics Canada, collect data on what they term "Non–medical determinants of health". These determinants fall into the following categories: Health behaviors, Living and working conditions, Personal resources and Environmental factors. Frideres' question suggests a difference exists so I will compare the health and well–being statuses of Indigenous and mainstream Canadians to understand just what differences exist between both groups. Statistics show that Indigenous people measure lower on almost all aspects of well–being when compared to Non–Indigenous populations. To demonstrate how pervasive the disparity is I would like to review some statistics for each determinant listed above. Considering ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Women 's Work And Worship Of The First Century Churches Women in Paul's Letters: Women played an important role in the work and worship of the first century churches. In Paul's letters he portrays women as equals to men. Paul's ideas were to renew a community of God's people; including all races, sexes, and religious backgrounds. While some people will argue that Paul is all for the equality of women, others say that he is misogynistic. Some things that were written may sound harsh to our ears in today's society; however, when considering the era that these letters were written in, most of the things that were written would not have been taken in a bad way. In Paul's letters women had various roles and positions, Phoebe was a deacon and a benefactor. Paul perceived Andronicus and Junia as "prominent among the apostles". (Romans 16:7). In Romans Verse 12 he describes Tryphaena and Tryphosa as "workers in the Lord". While he didn't really place restrictions or limits on women he did encourage women to wear a head dress while worshiping in Corinthians 11:2–17. He also stated in Corinthians 14:33b–36 that women should be silent in the churches. This contradicts his acceptance of women from his previous statements in Corinthians 11. In Romans 16:1–2 we are introduced to Phoebe who was a deacon and a benefactor. A benefactor is someone who gives money or helps a person for a cause. In the first few lines of Romans 16 it is said "I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church in Cenchreae. I ask you to receive her in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay about Twentieth Century Evolves to the Twentieth First Anderson (2007) claims, "The technological innovations, improved surgical techniques, and revolutions in drug therapies presented another problem: The field of medical ethic, or bioethics as it is now called, had to undergo radical change to keep pace with improvements in diagnosis and patient care" (Anderson, 2007, p. 262). Technology unquestionably created changes in every area of our lives, particularly throughout the last two hundred years, and in no industry is that more clear than the field of medicine. Throughout this time, machines began to assume a bigger role as innovators improved and invented better approaches to diagnose illness and treat wounds. As healthcare continues to evolve, so does restorative technology, and its use in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With HIV being a major global epidemic, we are still seeing high numbers and new cases arise every year. In the twentieth century the syndrome was the most famous epidemic and still is considered to be so today with many people dying from the disease. In the healthcare community the top priority for HIV/ AIDS for both periods have been prevention and access to treatment. Researchers continue to push forward toward a cure for this epidemic as they did in the twentieth century through clinical trials and exploration. We also see similarities when it comes to the cost of health care treatment. We are still seeing today how health care is a distress to many people who are not able to afford it just as it was prohibitive to persons without medical insurance in the past (Anderson, 2007). The medical advancements and "improvements in twentieth century medicine involved inventions of a vast number of technologies and medical equipment for diagnosis and treatment (Anderson, 2007. p 268). These medical advancements certainly influenced health and medicine today. Technological improvements made it possible for physicians to provide medical care and more accurately diagnosis illnesses and trauma with less–invasive methods. "The accelerated growth of computer technology that began in the 1970s has paved the way for many dramatic changes in medicine (Bartkowki & ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Civil Disobedience In The Twenty First Century In the twenty first century, civil disobedience is the only way to further our constitution to fit the unique needs of our society today. The media and the Internet influence the lives of every citizen in America every day and allow people to communicate with so many that otherwise would never be able to communicate with, leading to more opportunities of disputes and disagreements. When laws were written a long time ago, the framers had no idea the world would evolve this way, so obviously the framers could not write laws that fit needs regarding the new society. Jesus's life, ministry, and teachings were within the same century that the gospel writers wrote their accounts. Although little is known about first–century Palestine, there is a sufficient amount of documented history to discover how the era and region affected the writings of the Gospels. • 11. The Literary Works Of The First Century Romans Understanding ancient civilizations is always a hard process. The only resources that are readily available, are the texts written by people of the times. But which helps better the understanding of the society and political structures: historical or literary works? The first century Romans are a great example of this. The literary works of the first century Romans, help further the knowledge about the ancient civilization. While the historical works do show a lot of the facts from the era, the literary works possess more information about the people 's lives in that time. The political aspects of the Romans were very advanced. The government system they had set up, was better than any of the other civilizations of the time. (Virgil, Aeneid) Under the rule of Augustus, the Romans were at some of the strongest times of the empire 's existence. The empire in this time conquered most of the known world. They were not a force to be taken lightly. Virgil connected the political aspects of his time to the Greek gods quite often. He would reference the Roman empire as being strong and mighty much like the gods. (Virgil, Aeneid) He also described the empire as always in a state of tranquility, order, and emotional stability. (Virgil, Aeneid) Augustus was also highly regarded to during his reign. One historical fact from the Aeneid that Virgil mentions, would be the hatred between Carthage and Rome. • 12. Transportation In The First Half Of The 19th Century Essay During the first half of the 19th century, improvements in transportation developed rather quickly. Roads, steamboats, canals, and railroads all had a positive effect on the American economy. They also provided for a more diverse United States by allowing more products to be sold in new areas of the country and by opening new markets. Copied from ideas begun in England and France, American roads were being built everywhere. In an attempt to make money, private investors financed many turnpikes, expecting to profit from the tolls collected. Although they did not make as much money as expected, these roads made it possible for cheaper (not cheap) domestic transportation of goods. It still cost more to transport a ton of ... These canals were not only economical for exporters, but also for the state. Tolls alone collected from the ErieCanal had, by 1825, already paid for the entire project ($7,000,000), and now was making a substantial amount of profit. Even though it had not totally expanded yet, the cheapest, most economical method of transportation was the railroad. Speed, durability, and safety all contributed to the success of it. State legislatures and the national government all provided aid to the railroad companies by decreased the tax on rail iron. During this time period, manufacturing also boomed. New ideas and inventions made it faster to produce products. However, it is because of these new modes of transportation that this was ever able to occur. In the first century Palestine, during this period, many people from Judaism believed that there was only one God because of the Jewish biblical tradition. 6:4–5). American communities changed during the first half of the nineteenth century, shifting the way that Americans live their daily life. With the presentation of new innovations, cultures, machinery, and ideas the United States is not what is used to be 100 years ago; in fact, you don't necessarily have to go 100 years back in time the United States in 2015 is not the same as in 2005. Imagine that there is a woman who is poor and a rich man wants to marry her; she would marry the man because her father would force her. Woman before the industrial revolution would have around six to eight kids because the more kids the more the help they would have while farming. The turning point came after the industrial revolution when the word family meant something very different. Family now was only the nuclear family (mom, dad, brothers). Families have now been more private and became disconnected from the world. Marriages occurred not because of an economic interest, but because there was actually love and those two persons wanted to be together for the rest of their life. Truth is, looking at Judaism from a monolithic perspective might be the reason why some understand it to be a monolithic block. Though one cannot justify the claim that Christianity split off of Judaism as a new religion, it remains certain that the former finds its origin in the weakness of the latter, a process that happened over a few generations. However, this should not be taken to mean that Christianity was originally a simple outgrowth of Judaism under Jesus because the former can be anything but a different form of Judaism. Also, the concept of resurrection taught by Jesus was also embraced by the Pharisees in contrast to Sadducees. Despite these resemblances, the teachings of the first century Judaism were different from the teachings of the Master in many ways. One of the many ways Jesus' teachings differ from the Jews' was on their Messianic beliefs. It is true that both Jews and Christians were in the wait for the forthcoming of a redeemer from the line of David whose mission would be to proclaim a day of final deliverance and to establish his Kingdom. A Marketing Mix for the Twenty–First Century: New Media, New Markets, and New Messes Introduction The twentieth century was a period of rapid development and change in the world of international business and geopolitical affairs, reshaping the world in both practical and political terms into something of a more cohesive unit one rife with conflicts, to be sure, but a unit nonetheless. What was once a set of disparate countries and populations that could not communicate with each other over intervals shorter than weeks or even months is now an interconnected globe that can communicate instantaneously and can transport goods faster than it could transport news just a century ago. This has led to many new opportunities for a variety of businesses, and indeed has given rise to (and been prodded onwards by) many newer industries, such that economic growth and overall wealth have reached heights never before seen. There are also, of course, new challenges and new conflicts that rise in the world of globalization and ever–faster technology. From directly practical issues in the supply chain to the more abstract elements of brand identity and ethical concerns, every bit of progress in the business world has come with a series of considerations and potentials that required examination and reevaluation of old practices and concepts. Thoughts of segregation and the Ku Klux Klan probably come to mind when people envision what racism may look like. Since many of this is now considered illegal or less evident in today's society, many people may believe that racism is no longer a major issue. The First Wave Of Feminism In The Twentieth Century Throughout the twentieth century, feminism became a common topic of discussion, especially among relatively young women, and today has not proven any different. Feminism is divided into three time periods or "waves." The first wave began in the early twentieth century as women began fighting for the right to vote, while the second wave began nearly half a century later and targeted other equality issues, such as discrimination. The world is currently in the middle of the third wave of feminism, which has become more personal and responsive to the failures of the second wave. Though many people still fight for the equivalency of rights between men and women, feminism has changed greatly since the first wave, and the third wave's differences are now negatively impacting the female minds of today. Though modesty can be an opinionated topic, it is important to address how feminism has changed fashion and its timidity. During the first wave of feminism, women often presented themselves in skirts or dresses that came down as far as the knees or longer. Ladies dressed with class and embraced the beauty of a woman. Today, however, feminists present themselves much differently. For example, one of today's leading feminists, Emma Watson, was recently shown on the front of a magazine hardly wearing any clothing.
