EXISTING PRODUCT
o The key features I like about this make up website is how the colour scheme is very plain and
simply making it easy on the eye its not right in your face. I also like the lay out of the website
how they is interactive images of the models using of wearing the different products, showing
off what the website about this allows the audience then to know straight away what the
website has to offer. I also like how the navigation bar is simple but easy to follow and find
what you are looking for.
EXISTING PRODUCT
 This screenshot of a website home page is what sells all of the well known special effects make
up products e.g. Mehron, BenNye etc. From the home page you can see what content this
website holds, they website is very easy to follow as it has a navigation bar to help the audience.
This then allows you to look at variety of products available. The image of the products in the
middle of the page is a slideshow, it shows different products to the audience what can be found,
showing off the big names. Just from a little interactive slideshow it gets the audience interested
and want to look more into the products.
EXISTING PRODUCT
o This poster is both aimed at female and male, as we can see
that the hands are male as well as female this then opens the
target audience to all genders, this also shows that it takes a lot
of time and effort to create these amazing looks. By showing
people creating this look it is showing off the products that are
been used getting the products on display. The colours used are
also very neutral but also towards male using blues and greens.
I think also one half of the face loses the gender identity when
they have all of the special effects make up on, the only reason
we know it’s a female is because of the other side of the face. I
like how they have shows two different sides of a person it
shows that a person can change at anytime and from the direct
eye contact she is making with the audience shows a bit of
attitude. I think that the way they have placed ‘FACE OFF’ like it
has been cut in half like the females face. Where the ‘FACE’ is
placed on the special effects half side of the females face its like
it is telling you to be your true self don’t cover up left it all out be
creative where as the ‘OFF’ is where its just natural and her
been her self what everyone sees on a day to day bases. I really
like this poster as this is how I want to represent my website in
the same way as half and half.
EXISTING PRODUCT
o This 1990’s make up poster is very similar to
the posters now in 2017. this poster has kept
the main image of the model separate from the
background leaving the background in a neutral
colour they have then placed the products
around the model this then shows the target
audience what the have used. The model is
giving the audience direct eye contact to the
audience making a connection. The bring
colours of her make up tells you that this is in
summer and she also has flowers surrounding
her face that are brightly coloured like her eye
make up and lips. They have also placed the
brand name at the top of the page as it is a well
known brand and if they see the name they will
want to have a look. They have also added in
some information at the bottom of the poster for
the audience to read about the products.
RESEARCH ANALYSIS
 What common features do the researched products
have?
 They all show off the products used either in the poster of
website they always show off their products this means that
the audience can see straight away what they have used and
where they can get it etc.
 What aspects of the research will you include within
your on work?
 I think I will include the products I use to show my audience
what I have used so that they can process the same product if
they wanted. I also like the layout of the websites as they are
plain and simple but easy to access everything and find what
you want and this is what you need other wise you will lose
your audience if they don’t know how to work out what to do.

INTERVIEWS
INTERVIEW 1
 What interests you the most about special effects make up? The
techniques that they use interest me as it helps me understand how the
accomplish their work. I also like interesting and bizzare styles which are less
common.
 What do you like most about special effects make up? I
like that all SFX makeup is unique and it can show off very different and individual
talent and styles
 What do you think is the best way to show my work? Video
tutorials are very good as they allow you to see the work in real time as they
narrate and discuss strategies and products. You can also pause and replay the
content often to understand.
 What would you expect to see on a SFX website and why? Tutorial
videos, visual illustrations of designs, a bio about the artist and a range of different
looks and work.
 What other ways do you think would be a great way to advertise and why?
Online banners for social media, twitter accounts with the links to the website and
maybe flyers to hand out at events.
INTERVIEW 1
 Observation: I can see that tutorial videos are the key to show
off different styles of work.
 What this says about my audience: That they like to see
visually how and what to do.
 How will your product appeal to this audience: I will
make sure I include a lot of visual aspects on my website to reach
my target audience needs.
INTERVIEW 2
 What interests you the most about special effects make up?
The things that I like about SFX, is the fact it can look so real life like,
when do properly
 What do you like most about special effects make up?
I like SFX when its used in TV programmes and its done really well.
 What do you think is the best way to show my work?
The best way for you to show your work is through a video of you applying
the make up, because then people can see for themselves how its done
and applied.
 What would you expect to see on a SFX website and why?
I would expect to see a section on the website where you can maybe buy
the products you use, then people could practice what your doing at home.
 What other ways do you think would be a great way to advertise
and why?
I think another way that would be good for you to advertise would be
making a blog about SFX because blogs are very popular in this day and
age and are seen by a lot of people.
INTERVIEW 2
 Observation: I can see again that videos will help my audience in
the best way to help them create the same looks.
 What this says about my audience: that they like to
watch how the looks are created rather then text and pictures.

RESEARCH EVALUATION
RESEARCH EVALUATION
 Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss
the strengths and weaknesses of each method
 Product Research
The strengths for product research would have to be seeing existing products and been
able to get different ideas from them to then expand on your original idea.
The weakness for product research would have to be finding the existing products, but
once I have found them and had help off other people I managed to gather loads of
information to help me with my final product.
 Questionnaires
The strengths of making a questionnaire would be been able to find out what your
audience is interested in and what they would like to see included in the product.
The weakness of making a questionnaire would be trying to think of the right questions to
ask so you get the answers you need to create the best final product you want.
 Interviews
The strengths of the interviews is I am able to find out more information that I need to
know about my audience and their views on the product I am going to create.
The weakness of the interview is you cant always think of what you want to know to make
making the product easier.
RESEARCH EVALUATION
 What sort of a response did you get?
From the survey my responses were all very similar, with age,
gender, what they like etc. this then told me that I have reached the
same audience and that this is the audience I need to aim my
product to. This helped me then to know what to ask in the
interview to what I need a little more information on to create my
product.
 How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage
and a disadvantage
The way I distributed my survey was through social media and
black board, I did this so that the people in my class had a say so I
knew that my age range would be answering the questionnaire this
is an advantage as then I knew that I was going to get responses
from my age range. I then give the link out on face book to my
friends not in the college and family this then gave me more
responses at a wider rang of people.

I also like the lay out of the website how they is interactive images of the models using of wearing the different products, showing off what the website about this allows the audience then to know straight away what the website has to offer. I also like how the navigation bar is simple but easy to follow and find what you are looking for.
  • 3. EXISTING PRODUCT  This screenshot of a website home page is what sells all of the well known special effects make up products e.g. Mehron, BenNye etc. From the home page you can see what content this website holds, they website is very easy to follow as it has a navigation bar to help the audience. This then allows you to look at variety of products available. The image of the products in the middle of the page is a slideshow, it shows different products to the audience what can be found, showing off the big names. Just from a little interactive slideshow it gets the audience interested and want to look more into the products.
  • 4. EXISTING PRODUCT o This poster is both aimed at female and male, as we can see that the hands are male as well as female this then opens the target audience to all genders, this also shows that it takes a lot of time and effort to create these amazing looks. By showing people creating this look it is showing off the products that are been used getting the products on display. The colours used are also very neutral but also towards male using blues and greens. I think also one half of the face loses the gender identity when they have all of the special effects make up on, the only reason we know it’s a female is because of the other side of the face. I like how they have shows two different sides of a person it shows that a person can change at anytime and from the direct eye contact she is making with the audience shows a bit of attitude. I think that the way they have placed ‘FACE OFF’ like it has been cut in half like the females face. Where the ‘FACE’ is placed on the special effects half side of the females face its like it is telling you to be your true self don’t cover up left it all out be creative where as the ‘OFF’ is where its just natural and her been her self what everyone sees on a day to day bases. I really like this poster as this is how I want to represent my website in the same way as half and half.
  • 5. EXISTING PRODUCT o This 1990’s make up poster is very similar to the posters now in 2017. this poster has kept the main image of the model separate from the background leaving the background in a neutral colour they have then placed the products around the model this then shows the target audience what the have used. The model is giving the audience direct eye contact to the audience making a connection. The bring colours of her make up tells you that this is in summer and she also has flowers surrounding her face that are brightly coloured like her eye make up and lips. They have also placed the brand name at the top of the page as it is a well known brand and if they see the name they will want to have a look. They have also added in some information at the bottom of the poster for the audience to read about the products.
  • 6. RESEARCH ANALYSIS  What common features do the researched products have?  They all show off the products used either in the poster of website they always show off their products this means that the audience can see straight away what they have used and where they can get it etc.  What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?  I think I will include the products I use to show my audience what I have used so that they can process the same product if they wanted. • 25. RESEARCH EVALUATION  Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each method  Product Research The strengths for product research would have to be seeing existing products and been able to get different ideas from them to then expand on your original idea. The weakness for product research would have to be finding the existing products, but once I have found them and had help off other people I managed to gather loads of information to help me with my final product.  Questionnaires The strengths of making a questionnaire would be been able to find out what your audience is interested in and what they would like to see included in the product. The weakness of making a questionnaire would be trying to think of the right questions to ask so you get the answers you need to create the best final product you want.  Interviews The strengths of the interviews is I am able to find out more information that I need to know about my audience and their views on the product I am going to create. The weakness of the interview is you cant always think of what you want to know to make making the product easier.
  • 26. RESEARCH EVALUATION  What sort of a response did you get? From the survey my responses were all very similar, with age, gender, what they like etc. this then told me that I have reached the same audience and that this is the audience I need to aim my product to. This helped me then to know what to ask in the interview to what I need a little more information on to create my product.  How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage The way I distributed my survey was through social media and black board, I did this so that the people in my class had a say so I knew that my age range would be answering the questionnaire this is an advantage as then I knew that I was going to get responses from my age range. I then give the link out on face book to my friends not in the college and family this then gave me more responses at a wider rang of people.
