Evaluation of my media products.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real
media products?
In CountryWeeklythe mainimage isaclose up or medium
close upshot of the artist.My frontcover usesa medium
longshotwhere we can see the whole bodyof the artist,
alsoit showsthatthe artististhe same as any othersinger,
she iswearinga simple costume whichwe cansee where
as ina close upwe can’t see any of the costume exceptthe
makeupandjewellery.Alsoinmyfrontcoverthe
backgroundiswhite whichfollowsthe conventionasmost
countrymagazineseitherhave aplainbackground
therefore mymagazine frontcoverfollowsthe convention
of the setting.Ichose to change the camera shotand
followthe settingconventionbecause Iwantedmyfrontcoverto
standout but notbe completelydifferenttoanyothercountry
musicmagazine.Ichose to do thisbecause the plainbackgroundmade the artistandsell-
linesthe mainfocustothe readersandif my magazine challengedthe conventionsof
countrymagazinesthenthe readersmaynot read or buy mymusicmagazine. Withthe
name of the magazine I chose a similarstyle asMaverickwhere the artist’sheadcovers
the middle of the name,andfollowedthe positioningof the name;atthe topof the
magazine;asto stand outand alsoleave space forthe two mainsell-lineswhich
challengesthe use of sell-linesoncountrymusicmagazinesandmostonlyhave theirmain
sell-lineonthe frontcover.
Withmy contentspage the mainconventionthatIfollowedwasthe
use of an image thatwas relatedtothe frontcover andalso a
similarlayout,howeverinmycontentspage Ichose to use three
imagestoshowthree differentarticlesthatwere positionedonthe
rightside of the page leavingthe leftsideforthe contentsof the
magazine meaningthatIfollowedthe convention. Withthe colours
for the writingon the contentspage I followedthe use of brown
and redbut developedthemslightlyandusedbrownasthe writing
for the articlesandadaptedthe redto for a reddishorange and
useditfor the title of the contentspage;Features;thisisthe same
as most countrymagazine contentspagesandtherefore Iuseditto
showthe connectioningenre of music.I change the positioningof the mainarticle
name to underthe image whichchallengesthe positioningof the mainarticle name
on the Maverickcontentspage, thisisbecause Iusedthree imagestorepresentthree articlesand
positionedthe articlenamesandpage nexttoor underthem.I believe thismakesmycontentspage
unique withinthe countrymusicmagazine industryandalsomakesitstandoutmore withthe
readers.

2. Withthe double page spreadIusedthree imagesanddidan
interview,thisisdifferentfromthe double page spreadonthe
rightas it isan article about Maddie andTae. In bothwe can see
the use of an image onthe rightside of the page as well asan
image onthe leftpage,showingthatIfollowedthe amountof
imageswithinadouble page spread.HoweverIusedan

challengingthe otherdouble page spread,asitisquestions,but
the mainlanguage used
