Grading Criteria: Project 2 (15%)
Deliverable 1: Research Dossier
1. Format, Design, and Arrangement: The dossier is organized to help writer
effectively retrieve the data gathered from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics website.
For example: titles and headings and/or subheadings help identify clipped content
from pages on this site if using Evernote (or another tool) or content from was cut
and pasted if using a document file.
2. Citations: The writer clipped the citation if using Evernote (or another tool) or the
citation was cut and pasted if using a document file.
3. Analysis Notes: The writer has composed brief notes useful to understanding how
data collected might be compared or otherwise used in the white paper.
4. Audience and Purpose: The writer has effectively achieved the two purposes of a
dossier. The dossier will be useful to draw upon to write the Career Guide, and the
writer's methodology in is visible to others.
5. Mechanics: The writing is free of errors that would interfere with remembering why
source content was clipped if using Evernote (or another tool) or if content was cut
and pasted if using a document file.
Deliverable 2: Career Guide
1. Format and Design: writer effectively integrates the following design features to
achieve maximum readability.
1.1. Headings and/or subheadings help reader navigate through content and revisit
information easily.
1.2. Line justification, line spacing, and use of white space enhance readability.
1.3. Page numbers and smaller heading for secondary pages help readers to know
where they are at in the document.
1.4. Typeface and any accent colors or use of the UI logo adheres to the UI brand.

2. Arrangement: writer has arranged information in the Career Guide using logical
headings that respond to reader expectations.
3. Audience and Purpose: The writer has effectively achieved purpose and met the
needs by adhering to UI style guidelines in use of typography, color, and design
elements. The Career Guide’s sections follow requirements covered in the guidelines
and lectures in the following sections:
3.1. The title page is visually interesting.
3.2. The table of contents is balanced on the page.
3.3. The introduction uses purpose and forecasting statements.
3.4. The body of the paper uses headings and an organizing pattern to logically
present the findings. Comparisons are made at the national, Idaho State, and
one other state level and are graphically represented in the format appropriate
to convey the data’s significance.
3.5. All graphics are created by the writing and are labeled, captioned, and referred
to in the text. Text is wrapped around graphics.
3.6. The writer has drawn one or more conclusions from the data.
4. Mechanics: writing is free of noticeable errors.
Deliverable 3: Flyer
1. Design: the layout and design reflects effective application of design principles such
as Gestalt, color, and typography theories and the composition is balanced with one
or more focal points. The flyer's design would easily capture a person's attention as
they pass by a billboard or wall where the flyer is posted.
All design choices adhere to the UI brand.
2. Audience and Purpose: The writer has effectively achieved purpose and met the
needs of the audience in creating a flyer for a UI-sponsored career fair. The audience
would be able to attend the fair or event based on the flyer's information.
3. Mechanics: Textual information is free of noticeable errors.
