Deliverable 1: Progress Report with Research Dossier (1/2)
1. Format and Document Design: document is formatted as a memo report according
to standard conventions for this workplace genre and effectively integrates the
following design features to achieve maximum readability.
1.1. Headings and/or subheadings help reader navigate through
content in the progress report and revisit information easily.
1.2. Line justification, line spacing, and use of white space enhance readability.
1.3. Page numbers and smaller heading for secondary pages help readers to know
where they are at in the document.
2. Arrangement. Information is logically and cohesively organized.
3. Audience and Purpose: writer has effectively achieved purpose and met the needs
of the audience in reporting progress on the project.
Deliverable 1 and 2: Research Dossier (1/2 is due with progress report, and
completed dossier is due with deliverable 2).
1. Format, Design, and Arrangement: dossier is organized to help writer effectively
retrieve the data gathered sources in the three required source areas. For example:
titles and headings and/or subheadings help identify clipped content from sources if
using Evernote (or another tool) or content from was cut and pasted if using a
document file.
2. Citations: writer has included citations if using Evernote (or another tool) or a
document file.
3. Analysis Notes: writer has composed brief notes useful to understanding how data
collected might be presented in the formal report based on the four categories of
Stasis Theory.
4. Audience and Purpose: Research dossier provides supporting proof for statements
about progress.

5. Mechanics: writing is free of errors that would interfere with remembering why
source content was clipped if using Evernote (or another tool) or if content was cut

6. Format and Document Design: writer effectively integrates the following design
features to achieve maximum readability.
6.1. Headings and/or subheadings help reader navigate through
content and revisit information easily.

6.3. Page numbers and smaller heading for secondary pages help readers to know
where they are at in the document.
7. Arrangement: writer has arranged information in the white paper according
modified IMRaD structure.
8. Audience and Purpose: writer has effectively achieved purpose and met the needs
of the audience in the following sections of the white paper:
8.1. Title Page uses design elements to create visual appeal.
8.2. Table of Contents can be automatically updated, or if manually done, the table
uses dot leaders that are properly aligned, and TOC is balanced on the page.
8.3. Abstract concisely and briefly summarizes the four parts of an informative type
abstract (purpose, methodology, results, and conclusions).
8.4. Introduction is specific and concise in describing the public policy
issue, stakeholders, and specifically states the research objectives.
8.5. Methodology specifically states how the research was conducted,
including how stakeholder and stasis theories were applied.
8.6. Results /Discussion is organized using a divided or alternating pattern or other
logical arrangement. Claims are supported by evidence and connections to this
evidence are clear. Writer does not take a position on the policy issue but rather
presents an objective analysis of the data based on applying stakeholder and
stasis theories. Visuals and graphics support purpose and are labeled, captioned,
referred to in the text, and text is wrapped.
8.7. Conclusions. Writer has drawn one or more conclusions from the analysis.
9. Mechanics: writing is free of noticeable errors.
