Learning Preferences



In the beginning of the semester, when I took the preference learning
quiz, my score came out to this: reflective – 3, sensing – 9, visual – 7 and
sequential – 5. In the end of the semester, I’m still consider myself a
visual learner because I remember things easier if I can see what I am
learning or write everything down when someone is saying important
in order to study or to memorize. Although my reflective score is low, I
feel I’m a reflective learner because I like to think or write down what I
want to say before a presentation/speaking in front of class or group
work. In order for me to become a better learner, I would need an
explanation or show me to do things in order for me to understand the
materials even if I am a visual learner.

Learning Pathway


I picked learning sage because I am the kind of person who wants
the general basic knowledge of any type of technology when it
comes to social networking. Social networking especially through
the use of the Internet is easy way to communicate with people all
around the work such as through facebook or aol aim to chat with
people. Certain social networking can be very easy to use if the
individuals use it on a daily basis. Although I don’t join that many
social networking, I can tell if the website or any social technology is
easy to use depending on the simplicity of the social website or
technology.

   Activities such as social bookmarking did not help with my
    learning because the first time I used social bookmarking it
    was very confusing. Although it helps with organizing your
    words or websites that you use for future preferences for
    any particular assignments or work related, I wouldn’t
    remember why I had tag this particular word if I stop using
    the social bookmarking for a long period of time. I would
    need the full text or website and save it to my desktop of my
    computer or email so I remember what I have read for the
    day or the previous day. Games MMOGs can be the best
    activities to learn with others because it helps you learn how
    to work with different people and you can talk and make
    strategies when playing games through the use of the
    internet.

   Social technology for IPods and ITouch, I can play any social
    word games such as scrambles app and word with friends
    app where I can play with my friends or random people and
    build on my vocabulary words. If IPods and ITouch let you
    download facebook, I would download this app since it is
    one the social network I use often. In my IPhone 3, I have
    messaging such as yahoo chat where I can chat with my
    families in another country since that’s my purpose for
    using communication social technology. One of the learning
    preferences I relate to the most is visual learner and
    reflective learner. For example the way social technology
    helps me with my learning though the games on IPod is
    thinking of what words I should put up next for words with
    friend apps.

   IPAD is similar to my response for IPods since they basically have the
    same functions but different sizes. If ipad allows us to upload or
    download any article or document from any social technology websites,
    then we wouldn’t have to carry laptop everywhere with us since ipad is
    capable of using wifi internet.

   One of the good ways to use microblog for social technology is using
    forum because you can connect with your professor and classmates. One
    forum that SFSU School uses is ilearn. I can use this forum and ask either
    the professors or classmates if I have any problem on any particular
    assignments. Forum can be use publically as well where anyone can make
    their own blog and ask whatever they want and wait if anyone who
    reply. Tweet is a popular example of microblog but I feel it is not good for
    social technology learning because this website seems to be used as
    personal usage where people write anything they have in mind or what
    they are doing at the moment.

   Social networking such as facebook, I believe it is not good for the learning tools for
    social technologies because of games such as Farmville which causes you to be addict to
    the game. And the website itself causes you to get distracted from your homework or
    class because you want to know what’s going on with your friends or talk to your
    friends through facebook. One good thing about facebook when it comes to learning is
    creating group for your class where you can interact with your other classmates by ask
    questions about any particular homework, can post up any document such as notes or
    recording audio in case a classmate was absent, and so on. The social technology that I
    want to explore further to improve my learning is social bookmark because the lecture
    especially with the powerpoint lecture does not really explain or show how to tag a
    particular word very much. The best way for me to learn how to social bookmark from a
    particular website is either someone have to show me how to do it or I have to watch a
    youtube video in order to under bookmarking

   The best way for me to learn through social technologies for my visual learner is online
    lectures because I can watch the lectures anytime I want which is easier for me to write
    or type my notes. I want a website such as ilearn where professor can upload their
    lecture notes because students don’t have to worry about missing any notes if they can’t
    come to class. This way we can use it for reference for testes or research paper.

   When it comes to social learning, I tend to learn on my own. It
    depend on what social strategy learning that I might need when it
    comes to work because not all work uses any type of social
    related. I can take a class, look up online, or ask my manager to
    teach me how to do it if I work at a place that requires anything
    relate to social learning.
   I think the social technology that I will continue using for non-
    learning purpose is facebook since it is easier for me to connect
    with friends. The social technology that I will avoid using after
    this class based on the class lecture is social bookmark because I
    never use it in my place. Plus I will be done with school very soon
    and I do not work a place that required this kind of technology.
    Another thing that I will avoid using is tweeter because I have
    nothing interesting to talk or post on tweeter.

Synthesis quest activities for social and collaborative learning

  • 2. Learning Preferences In the beginning of the semester, when I took the preference learning quiz, my score came out to this: reflective – 3, sensing – 9, visual – 7 and sequential – 5. In the end of the semester, I’m still consider myself a visual learner because I remember things easier if I can see what I am learning or write everything down when someone is saying important in order to study or to memorize. Although my reflective score is low, I feel I’m a reflective learner because I like to think or write down what I want to say before a presentation/speaking in front of class or group work. In order for me to become a better learner, I would need an explanation or show me to do things in order for me to understand the materials even if I am a visual learner. Julie Ngo
  • 3. Learning Pathway I picked learning sage because I am the kind of person who wants the general basic knowledge of any type of technology when it comes to social networking. Social networking especially through the use of the Internet is easy way to communicate with people all around the work such as through facebook or aol aim to chat with people. Certain social networking can be very easy to use if the individuals use it on a daily basis. Although I don’t join that many social networking, I can tell if the website or any social technology is easy to use depending on the simplicity of the social website or technology. Julie Ngo
  • 4. Activities such as social bookmarking did not help with my learning because the first time I used social bookmarking it was very confusing. Although it helps with organizing your words or websites that you use for future preferences for any particular assignments or work related, I wouldn’t remember why I had tag this particular word if I stop using the social bookmarking for a long period of time. I would need the full text or website and save it to my desktop of my computer or email so I remember what I have read for the day or the previous day. Games MMOGs can be the best activities to learn with others because it helps you learn how to work with different people and you can talk and make strategies when playing games through the use of the internet. Social technology for IPods and ITouch, I can play any social word games such as scrambles app and word with friends app where I can play with my friends or random people and build on my vocabulary words. If IPods and ITouch let you download facebook, I would download this app since it is one the social network I use often. In my IPhone 3, I have messaging such as yahoo chat where I can chat with my families in another country since that’s my purpose for using communication social technology. One of the learning preferences I relate to the most is visual learner and reflective learner. For example the way social technology helps me with my learning though the games on IPod is thinking of what words I should put up next for words with friend apps.  Julie Ngo
  • 6. IPAD is similar to my response for IPods since they basically have the same functions but different sizes. If ipad allows us to upload or download any article or document from any social technology websites, then we wouldn’t have to carry laptop everywhere with us since ipad is capable of using wifi internet.  One of the good ways to use microblog for social technology is using forum because you can connect with your professor and classmates. One forum that SFSU School uses is ilearn. I can use this forum and ask either the professors or classmates if I have any problem on any particular assignments. Forum can be use publically as well where anyone can make their own blog and ask whatever they want and wait if anyone who reply. Tweet is a popular example of microblog but I feel it is not good for social technology learning because this website seems to be used as personal usage where people write anything they have in mind or what they are doing at the moment.  Julie NGo
  • 7. Social networking such as facebook, I believe it is not good for the learning tools for social technologies because of games such as Farmville which causes you to be addict to the game. And the website itself causes you to get distracted from your homework or class because you want to know what’s going on with your friends or talk to your friends through facebook. One good thing about facebook when it comes to learning is creating group for your class where you can interact with your other classmates by ask questions about any particular homework, can post up any document such as notes or recording audio in case a classmate was absent, and so on. The social technology that I want to explore further to improve my learning is social bookmark because the lecture especially with the powerpoint lecture does not really explain or show how to tag a particular word very much. The best way for me to learn how to social bookmark from a particular website is either someone have to show me how to do it or I have to watch a youtube video in order to under bookmarking  The best way for me to learn through social technologies for my visual learner is online lectures because I can watch the lectures anytime I want which is easier for me to write or type my notes. I want a website such as ilearn where professor can upload their lecture notes because students don’t have to worry about missing any notes if they can’t come to class. This way we can use it for reference for testes or research paper.  Julie Ngo
  • 8. When it comes to social learning, I tend to learn on my own. It depend on what social strategy learning that I might need when it comes to work because not all work uses any type of social related. I can take a class, look up online, or ask my manager to teach me how to do it if I work at a place that requires anything relate to social learning.  I think the social technology that I will continue using for non- learning purpose is facebook since it is easier for me to connect with friends. The social technology that I will avoid using after this class based on the class lecture is social bookmark because I never use it in my place. Plus I will be done with school very soon and I do not work a place that required this kind of technology. Another thing that I will avoid using is tweeter because I have nothing interesting to talk or post on tweeter. Julie Ngo
