S My 3rd grade class consists of 20 students
overall
S 8 boys 12 girls
S 2 have ADHD
S 1 is physically handicapped – Wheelchair
bound
3. Main Objective
S By the end of the week, my students
will have developed an understanding
of cause and effect of pollution,
learning the difference between
recyclables and trash, problem solving
capabilities, and spreading awareness
with 90% accuracy.
4. Day By Day - Monday
S Monday – Learn the causes/effects of pollution
& what we can do to help resolve these issues
using technological research. I will introduce
them with a YouTube video and digital image
about recycling.
S Discuss the project they have the whole week
to work on. It can be anything they want it to
be as long as it’s out of recycled materials
only.
5. Day By Day - Tuesday
S We would create our own class recycling bins and hang
signs raising awareness to recycling
S Hold class discussion
S I would introduce Zello to people who had phones as a
way to converse on today’s discussion
6. Day By Day - Wednesday
S Get into small groups of 5 and create videos
raising awareness for recycling.
S We would spend the majority of this day
creating the videos. Brainstorming ideas, the
filming process, and uploading it to the
computer.
S Discuss ways to get school more involved.
7. Day By Day – Thursday
S Create a journal entry with the title “I
pledge to help the Earth…” This will be
less than a page of theirs thoughts
throughout the week of what they
learned and the changes they are
going to make.
S Watch videos made yesterday (I will
grade as we watch)
8. Day By Day - Friday
S Show and tell
S Everyone individually presents their
recycled materials project they had
been working on at home.
S 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be
chosen. All are graded with rubric.
