2. “The Undead”
The tile of my radio drama is “The Undead”. It is a
horror/drama so it will appeal to a wide range of people
because of the different aspect of the media product. I
have chosen this idea because there are so many
possibilities where my radio drama could develop with
different characters. This radio drama has a
documentary stylistic approach, the main characters
are recording their journey during the apocalypse.
These tape recording were discovered after the
apocalypse and are now being broadcasted on the
news.
3. “The Undead”
The radio drama will be introduced by a news reporter
explaining that it has been 50 years that someone
discovered the vaccination. There will be two main
characters that will be on the tape recordings, they
have this kind of friendship that would make the
audience love both of them and it will encourage them
to keep on listening to the radio show. The show can
develop into something bigger, like one of the
characters being in serious danger, this will create a
gripping atmosphere and if it happens at the end of an
episode it will leave a cliff hanger for the audience
4. “The Undead”
Character profiles:
Dan – Between Dan and Matt, I don’t think there is an alpha
male of the two, they both have good survival instincts but
Dan relies on Matt to brighten up his day a bit. He acts like it
doesn’t bother him but he knows it wouldn’t be worth
surviving without Matt.
Matt – Matt is the funnier one out of the two, he does take
the whole situation seriously because he knows if they mess
up it could be a life or death situation, but he appreciates the
little things in like. So finding this working tape recorder
allows him to keep his high spirits up and bring even just a
little bit of joy to Dans life.
5. “The Undead”
The scheduling information includes the station that my
radio drama is intended to be broadcasted on, it also
includes the broadcasting plans and the frequency of
the broadcasts. I intend my radio drama to be
broadcasted on BBC Radio 4 Extra, this is because it
applies well to my target audience and it is one of the
most popular radio stations that is dedicated to
broadcasting radio dramas. I would want my radio
drama to be broadcasted every Tuesdays and
Wednesdays at 6pm over a four week period.
6. “The Undead”
My plans for post-broadcast distribution, which mean what
will happen with the radio drama after all the episodes have
been broadcasted, are to be able to be downloaded/bought
via the internet. I think this will be best for my radio drama
because of the age of the target audience. This is because
15-25 year olds, if they would buy it, are more likely to buy it
digitally than buy a physical copy of it. So I think having my
radio drama available to download would be the best option
for my radio drama. In addition, I also think my radio drama
can be adapted into different media projects, like a
recreation or a graphic novel or even a TV series.
