Bicycle Safety in Focus: Preventing Fatalities and Seeking Justice
Question 1 media
1. Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or
challenge forms and conventions of real media product?
2. McGuffinThe McGuffin is the
USB which drives
our film forward
because their are 2
groups fighting over
possession of the
USB.
This shows the
audience that the
USB is the driving
force of this film
because it is wants
the villain wants
As there are two
forces fighting over
it shows the viewer
that the USB holds
something very
valuable to both
groups.
3. Cliff Hangar& Red herring
We did not use a
cliff hangar in the
opening as our film
ends with a assassin
killing the other
assassin attempting
to kill an innocent
who had witnessed
the murder.
But there
could be a
cliff hangar
later in the
film.
We also did not use a
red herring as the
focus of the beginning
of the film is on the
USB which is the
McGuffin of the film
but there could be a
red herring later on in
the film.
A cliff hangar is when
you leave the main
character in a difficult
situation or when they
find out a shocking
truth and that is where
the movie ends.
A red herring is
when the audience
is mislead or
distracted from the
story plot/ or a
important issue.
4. Related to Movies
Our films use
conventions that real
films will use like
McGuffins where man
films like North by
Northwest will use a
McGuffin to drive the
story forward even
though the audience
don't care about it.
North by Northwest is
similar to our story as it is
based on a person who is
in the wrong place at the
wrong time which is
similar to ours because it
is based on this person
who is in the wrong place
at the wrong time.
Our film was influenced
by North by Northwest
because we liked the idea
of an innocent person
getting pulled into
something for being in the
wrong place at the wrong
time.
