Plot
My product is a zombie horror movie, but on an epic scale. The plot of the film is a group of
teenagers who live in rural England, are presented with the task of surviving a zombie apocalypse
that is threatening to destroy the world. As everything crumbles around them, they lose their
families, their friends and hope, but do they have what it takes to survive?
3. MY PRODUCT
My product would be a great investment for you for many different reasons. The film is slightly
different to anything you have previously distributed and I feel this can help you branch out even
further and go on to distribute more horror or zombie films in the future.
My product is very conventional for the horror genre as I have carried out a lot of research into
the specific conventions of horror films.
Mise-en-scene – the mise-en-scene in my product will be very conventional, there will be lots of
low key lighting. The location of my film will be a rural environment, including abandoned and run
down buildings, as well as a corn field and a fairground. The costumes will be dirty and blood
stained clothes. Props will include make shift weapons such as metal bars and bats.
Camerawork – there will be a lot of camera movement such as tracking and panning that will
add to the intensity of the film. There will be close ups to show the emotion of the characters and
wide shots to show the intensity and the setting. There will be low and high angled shots that will
show the dominance of either the heroes or the zombies in different scenes.
4. MY PRODUCT
Sound – there are many conventional sounds in the horror genre, this includes things like slow and
tense non diegetic music, and ambient sounds like screaming. In my film these will both feature.
This will enable me to make my trailer very intense. And faster paced music will be used for the
action sequences and scenes.
Target audience – I have completed vast amounts of research into my target audience, and I
have decided on my target audience being both males and females aged between 16-25. The
zombie aspect is more suited to a masculine audience but with the storyline and possible
romance in the film, I feel it can be very appealing to both males and females. All my decisions
on what will feature in my film in terms of everything from sound to mise-en-scene have stemmed
from my target audience and conventions research, and this is why I know that both my trailer
and film will appeal to a large amount of people.
5. WARNER BROS.
After researching you as a company, I believe that this would be an excellent opportunity. You
have previously distributed horror films such as The Exorcist, The Shining and Friday the 13th, and I if
you was to distribute my zombie horror movie it would allow you to extend your reach and could
lead to bigger and better things in the future. My film will appeal to a large amount of people
and has a very similar target audience to many of the films you have previously distributed.
