The Legacy Of A Good President
On April 7, 2015, Rand Paul announced, "I am running for president to return our country to the
principles of liberty and limited government." This put him in the running for the 2016 presidential
nomination. Rand Paul is a republican and the son of Ron Paul, Rand Paul started his political career
in 2008 when he started to get involved in a group known as the Tea Party. He announced he would
run for a seat in the Kentucky Senate in 2009, He won and became a senator for Kentucky. He has
been a United States senator for five years which doesn't give him many years of experiences but
some of the great presidents like Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt only had two and four

Paul states, "I am not opposed to birth control," he said. After a pause, he elaborated. "That 's
basically what Plan B is. Plan B is taking two birth control pills in the morning and two in the
evening, and I am not opposed to that." This means he agrees with the morning after pill. He
disagrees with government funding for abortion. He signed a no taxpayer funding for abortion act.
The act prohibits federal funds being used to cover abortion but excludes in cases such as rape,
incest, or if a woman is in danger of death. It also disqualifies for purpose of tax deduction of
medical expenses for abortion. Paul wants to defend Planned Parenthood.
Taxes in this country help pay for many government and state programs. Right now we have seven
tax bracket tax plan for income tax. The plan is based on how much you make, the more you make
the higher the present. Paul's plan calls for a fourteen point five present flat tax no matter how much
income you make. The plan also includes a $15000 deduction and a $5000 per a person personal
exemption. Retirements accounts would stay the same and still keep mortgage and charitable
deductions along with child tax deductions. For business, it would be a fourteen point nine percent
business transfer tax that would be levied on factors of production and capital income. The TGM
(Taxes and Growth Model) estimates an increased GDP of twelve point nine percent in ten years or

The Aviation Industry Of China
AVIA3101 Individual Assignment

Option 1
General
The aviation industry of China began for around half a century. As a developing country, the
economy of China has a massive increase, but the strictly controlled airspace and complicated
regulation limited the growth of China Aviation. Recently, new measures such as more efficient
airspace approval process, have improved the situation and giving hope that the market will rise. In
fact, the market has rapidly increased. As the China government giving ways to develop the aviation
industry, more and more have negotiated increased capacity with China, Australia is one of them.
In the past 10 years, the demand of travelling between Australia and China keep increasing at a high
rate, especially after 2009 (fig 1) [International Airline Activity–Time Series. 2015]. Due to the rise
in demand, major airlines such as Qantas China Eastern and China Southern have a massive
expansion in terms of no. of flights and route network. With annual passengers of around 850k,
China has become a key source market for Australia. Airports are also trying to attract Chinese
travelers. For example, in Sydney airport every Chinese New Year, Terminal 1 would celebrate with
Chinese–Themed declaration, launching simplified Chinese site and deployed Chinese–speaking
Ambassadors to assist Chinese customers in Terminal 1. China aviation industry is absolutely one of
the largest and fastest growing economies. (fig 1)

The 400 Blows By Francois Truffaut
The 400 Blows is a great film. It is a testimony to Francois Truffaut's greatness. This is a film about
a young French boy that has a troubled childhood. He was a rebel of sorts. He got in some trouble in
the classroom and out of the classroom. He wasn't necessarily more troublesome than any other kid
during that time. I think he is misunderstood and put in difficult situations. This French Film Noir
had music, scenery, and a unique freeze frame that made this film great. Music added to this film.
French music and classical music was played in the background. At no time was there any lyrics to
the songs being played. I think this was advantageous as the camera angles captured the emotion of
Antoine and other characters. Also the scene itself often in Paris was full of hustle and bustle. It's a
big city so the city sounds where heard. Thus music with lyrics were not needed. I think the final
scene is a great scene. This scene is of Antoine running away for the last time going to the ocean.
Quiet and unique percussion music was being played as he was running towards the ocean. Scenery
itself was set for the most part in Paris France. This was a city that was full of business day and
night. The streets were crowded with pedestrians and cars were seen zooming by. This reflected how
a boy such as Antoine could be forgotten and entangled with skipping school and other poor choices.
The scene where Antoine is skipping school with his other school buddy indicates how he really was

Safety Management System ( Sms )
(1) Introduction
Safety Management System (SMS) can be defined as "a systematic approach to managing safety,
including the necessary organizational structures, accountabilities, policies and procedures" (Safety
Management Manual, 2013). It is designed to identify hazards, analysing and collecting data and
manage safety risks encountered during the delivery of its services (Safety Management Manual,
2013).
According to Safety Management Manual (2013), the fundamental Safety Management System
(SMS) framework consists of four main components and twelve sub elements. These are the 4
components and 12 sub–elements:
i) Safety policy and objectives
–Management commitments and responsibilities
–Safety accountabilities
–Appointment of key safety personnel
–Coordination of emergency response planning
–SMS documentation ii) Safety risk management
–Hazard identification
–Risk assessment and mitigation iii) Safety assurance
–Safety performance monitoring and measurement
–The management of change
–Continuous improvement of the SMS
iv) Safety promotion
–Training and education
–Safety communication
(2) Analysis Methodology
The Swiss Cheese Model of accident causation illustrates the occurrence of catastrophic system
failures. In the model, there are holes in each cheese and it represents a safety barrier to a particular
hazard. According to the Swiss cheese model (Safety Management Manual, 2013), some of holes in
defences are due to active failures, however, some of other holes in the

bargaining power of suppliers is strong because banks have four main suppliers; customer deposits,

power of the suppliers is heavily based on the market so their power frequently fluctuates between
medium to high. The pressure coming from the threat of new entrants is weak because although

Film Analysis Of Franois Truffaut's 'The 400 Blows'
This film analysis will delineate the diverse directorial decisions of The French New Wave cinema
movement, and how they have been utilised and developed to challenge and subvert the typical
Hollywood filmmaking conventions and techniques of the 1950s and 60s Hollywood cinema, in
François Truffaut's The 400 Blows (1959). Hollywood produced films of the time used a very
limited variation in film techniques such as camera, acting, mise–en–scene, editing and sound. This
can be mainly attributed to the low innovative thought of creative and expressive camera
movements, angles, etc... due to technological hindrances. In particular, this film analysis will de–
construct the filmmaking elements of the revelatory French New Wave movement in Truffaut's The
400 Blows ending scene (01:34:42 – 01:39:32) portraying the main character Antoine Doinel's
escape from juvie and trek to the bespoken beach.
At the beginning of the scene, Antoine and his fellow juvie inmates are joined in a rather
melancholy game of football/soccer. Antoine is then portrayed as making a spur of the moment and
impulsive decision to escape when the referee/teacher is distracted by the game. The audience is
then engaged with an extremely long tracking shot of Antoine running to a seemingly unbeknownst
location to the audience. Following this scene his destination is revealed as the beach, leaving the
audience to suppose and question why Antoine went there rather than being given a perfect fairytale
ending typical to

The House On Mango Street Character Analysis

everyone's lives, some choose to embrace it while others shove it in the back of their closet and try
to forget it. However, while experiencing life, one learns and one grows. Sandra Cisneros's novel
"The House on Mango Street" is considered a coming of age novel. Esperanza, the main character,
faces many different challenges and situations in her life. Esperanza is introduced as an innocent girl
who later matures into a young adult after developing and grasping onto new concepts. Esperanza
cuts off some friendships throughout the novel but also breaks the ice to begin new ones. Friendship
is a major theme in the novel considering Esperanza learns many lessons from them. Marin, who is
just a bit older than Esperanza, is a role model in the young eyes of Esperanza. Marin shares many
stories and valuable information with Esperanza such as becoming a woman, beauty tricks, and
anything about boys. Although Marin hopes her knight in shining armor will come sweep her off her
feet, Esperanza finds she is more independent and does not need to wait for her knight (Cisneros 26–
27). Aside from Marin, early in the novel, Esperanza meets Lucy and Rachel. Esperanza had to give
up a friendship with another girl to become friends with the two other girls. Perhaps Esperanza feels

Fear, Loathing, By Hunter S. Thompson 's Novel, Fear And...
The American Dream is the phrase and trademark of American society today that many hope to
achieve in some point in their lives. In Hunter S. Thompson's novel, Fear and Loathing in Las
Vegas, readers follow Thompson depicted as Raoul Duke and his attorney Dr. Gonzo in hoping to
find the American Dream. It uses Gonzo Journalism, a style that is an adaption of Picaresque
narrative to document his drug–induced experiences traveling through 1970's Las Vegas. The
Picaresque novels are composed of first–person narrative that relates to the adventures of a picaro
character or rogue hero with an episodic structure and romantic techniques to present the story as a
realist. The novel presents various examples of picaresque genre and American journey narratives.
Thompson uses picaresque narrative of a rogue hero's desert journey for the American Dream in
bars, casinos, hotels only to find that it is essentially unattainable. At the same time, Thompsons
examines the generation's failure to achieve the American Dream by commenting on their cultural
behavior in the 1960s and 1970s.
The principles of Picaresque genre are revealed throughout the novel: first person narrative and
episodic structure of a rogue hero. Thompson portrays an episodic plot in the novel where the rogue
hero travels back and forth in search of the American Dream. Duke and his attorney drive their red
convertible across the deserts of Las Vegas. As their drug consumption increases, they trash their

The American Dream
The American Dream is the idea of equal opportunity for all, with freedom to do what you want
with your life. It is the idea that what you can achieve depends on how much work you put in, but
with some people today putting in years of hard work and diligence only to never move up in the
world the reality of this dream is beginning to be challenged. Believers of the American Dream
claim that everyone has the same basic set of rights and opportunities to succeed, but with there
being so many varying people with different economic and cultural backgrounds immigrating to US
are there enough opportunities to go around? I believe the American Dream is dead because new
generations aren't making as much as older generations, the poor are staying poor and the rich are
staying rich, and due to discrimination some people are born having less opportunities. The
American Dream might have been alive in the past but with newer generations not being able to
make as much money as older generations the dream has not continued to exist. "Using Federal
Reserve data to compare 25– to 34–year–olds in 2013 with their counterparts from 1989, the
advocacy group Young Invincibles found that, after adjusting for inflation, Millennials earn 20
percent less than baby boomers did at the same stage in life" (). How are these generations supposed
to move up in society when they can't get respectable jobs because those spots are already filled by
older generations. They have to take jobs with no prospects

New Wave Cinema
In David Cook's, "A History of Narrative Film," it is said that "the prevailing mode of postwar
French cinema was literary adaption, which caused French films to become increasingly verbal and
theatrical. It was against this tendency– identified as 'the tradition of quality' by Francois Truffaut
and the other critics writing in Cashiers du Cinema, that the New Wave reacted in the late 1950's and
1960's."
Camera–stylo, which would permit the cinema "to become a means of expression as supple and
sbutle as that of written language and would therefore accord filmmakers the status of authors.
Astruc's notion was to break away from the tyranny of narrative in order to evolve a new form of
audiovisual language" (Cook, 350). Astruc went on to describe how the problem of the cinema is
how to express thought. "The creation of this language has preoccupied all the theoreticians and
writers in the history of cinema, from Einstein down to the script–writers and adaptors of the sound
cinema" (Cook, 350). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is described as a "lyrical but wholly unsentimental account of an adolescent delinquent, shot on

Argumentative Essay On Fake News
BK1 Sangita BK Professor Sherry Sherifian Government 2305–71432 23rd November, 2017 If the
news does not have true information and which is intended just for publicity and has deliberate
misinformation then we can pre–assume that news is fake. Fake news can be written, published or
broadcasted with an intention to damage a person's or company reputation or so as to gain
popularity. The headlines of the fake news are eye catching which compels people to at least once
go through it. 1 If I had to help someone spot fake news then I would definitely recommend to
analyse the news through factcheck.org. "With technology permeating every corner of our lives, it is
vital that we begin teaching students from a young age the basics of understanding the difference
between real and fake news"( Crate 4). This is 21st century where almost all the people want
popularity , money. "Much fake news is sold and consumed on the premise that mainstream outlets
cover up important information that is only available through alternative sources" (Uscinski 55).
People are in competition how to be in center of spot. Almost every other people gets fake news in
every moment of time. If I spot someone who got fake news, I would first tell him or her to be calm
not to panic and not to be judgmental very quickly. I will tell him or her to analyze the news
carefully. Try to go deep into the news. Do not just surfacely go through the news. Ask yourself the
question is it possible for that particular news to

Truffaut On Love Essay
children chase the lovers when the man chases the women. Gérard shows his brutal and child like
nature when he chases one of his tormentors, when he gets him he slaps him, a primal and a beast
just like children would curl. The spectacle of the lovers is always accompanied by either screams or
whispers and extremely agitated and exciting body languages. The children are constantly reactive
to the spectacle of the love that they are seeing. The second motif will be the connection between
love and death. In a perfect way the spectacle in Truffaut's film constantly connected to the looming
to the unavoidable death. We noticed through the first part of the film with the shining presence of
the film when she was clothed in light. Not a coincidence at all that Gérard wears all black which
foreshadows his fate. Truffaut very subtly continues the symbolic play with colors, Bernadette will
only wear white until the crucial foreshadow moment of Gérard when they kiss goodbye. For the
first time their relationship is connected to sadness. Just like a child Gérard proposes to Bernadette
by singing in a very childish way. This moment is important because the promise of a life together
will be derailed by an accident. The end of the film is sectioned again by the unavoidable reality of
death that will destroy love. Truffaut loves films about goddesses like women and love are

Cinematic Techniques
The extraordinary film The 400 Blows (Francois Truffaut, 1959) skillfully uses cinematic devices
appropriately within the context of the theme. Part of the underlying theme of this movie as
explained by Truffaut himself is, "... to portray a child as honestly as possible..."(Writing About
Film, 1982). It is the scenes in this movie that are most helpful in disclosing the overall theme of the
film. Within the scenes, the camera angles in this film play an important role in accentuating the
emotions behind the scene. The camera angles used in this film will be the primary focus of this
paper. The high angle shots utilized in The 400 Blows are effective in helping to develop the overall

There is a definite correlation here between the angle selected and the sense of childhood innocence.
However, this particular camera angle does not always hold the same meaning in every shot.
A latter high angle shot involves the elementary school teacher. Mr. Bigey (Georges Flamant), the
teacher, is first demonstrated in this film by using a high angle close–up. This angle presents the
teacher as a figure of authority and rule. Furthermore it establishes a feeling control. Humans are
most likely to look up to, figuratively speaking, figures of authority and control. As to follow with
the storyline, the teacher is almighty and can direct the children in any sort of fashion he pleases. He
has the control. This particular angle is appropriate for this scene because it establishes, right away,
that Mr. Bigey is a force to be reckoned with. For example, when someone is knocked out in a
fistfight and the first view they see upon awakening is the opponent towering over them, they are
more apt to recognize the authority and control considering the view. That is why this angle works.
Speaking of view, the next shot that will be discussed gives an entirely different feel, partly because
of the view, but it does remain within the definition of a high angle shot.
In the reformatory, immediately after exiting the patty wagon, another high angle shot is employed
to reveal the reinforced bars on the ceiling giving the audience a

Coca Cola wanted to continue its international expansion because it believed that the U.S. market
would eventually reach maturity, and that growth prospects were better overseas. For much of its
initial expansion, Coca Cola followed a localization strategy, allowing each country unit to manage
its own operations. QUESTION 2: Why did Coca Cola change its initial strategy? What strategy did
Coca Cola start to pursue in 2000? What were the benefits of this strategy to Coca Cola? What were
the drawbacks? ANSWER 2: In the 1980s, Coca Cola changed its strategy from a localization
approach where individual country units essentially ran their own operations, to a more centralized
approach where key management and marketing activities took place at the company headquarters
in Atlanta. The company extended this strategy to include foreign bottlers. By taking equity stakes in
the bottlers, Coca Cola was able to exert greater control over them. Coca Cola made the shift to the
global standardization strategy because it believed that by doing so, the company could gain
significant economies of scale. However, by 2000, the company was ready to change its strategy
once again. Coca Cola was losing market share to companies that used a more localized strategy,
and under the guidance of its new CEO, Coca Cola began once again to give local managers more
decision making power. This time however, while giving country managers the autonomy to tailor

In the same magazine, Gucci was listed as a very valuable fashion brand with estimate revenue of
12.7 Billion Dollars (Forbes). The two companies show a very spirited competition which is only
demarcated by an estimated revenue difference of 5 billion dollars. This, then, means that with such
high competition in the industry, Gucci can never, at any one time, sit pretty thinking that it runs the
fashion scene – far from it – other worthy brands are selling out there – they have the ability to
supersede Gucci in the short and long run.
Potential of new entrants into the industry It indeed goes without saying that there already exist
plenty of fashion companies and houses in the prevailing fashion industry (Pratap). What this says is
that the industry allows for free and unrestrained entry into the market. What is of essence, however,
is the potential of the likelihood of these new entrants to be worthy adversaries and competitors in
the industry (Pratap). New entrants, as Pratap postulates, have mountains to move before they can be
afforded a front row seat in the industry. Pratap however appreciates that the creativity of new
entrants in the market could see these new entrants offer worthy competition to the already existing
fashion companies. In addition, Pratap advances that resources are major constraints to these new
entrants as they often have to make plenty of investments. This is at the wake of plenty of bills to

What is Epic? According to their website, Epic is a private and employee–owned company that
"makes software for mid–size and large medical groups, hospitals and integrated healthcare

Epic is looked upon as a status symbol within the healthcare arena, and that vantage point is further
proven when you client base consists of the higher echelon healthcare providers in the industry such
as Cleveland Clinic, John Hopkins, and the UC system almost in its entirety. Epic is not an
inexpensive system to obtain. The decision for Kaiser Permanente to make the major system change
came with a hefty price tag of $4 Billion dollars. With Kaiser having a footprint of more than 200
hospitals, it can be estimated that each facility spent about $20 Million for the system. Even with
Kaiser doing a comparative cost study between Epic and rival Cerner, "doctors and nurses voted
overwhelmingly for Epic." Sutter healthcare system acquired Epic for 5 of their largest facilities
spending over 500 million. Duke University Healthcare system spent over $700 Million, Partners
Healthcare, based out of Boston, spent the nearly the same amount as Duke Healthcare system. The
University of California, San Francisco, shelled out over $150 million. Given the aforementioned
examples it is clear to see that Epic comes with a steep price tag. In terms of competition, Kansas

The 400 Blows: Cinematic Techniques
MSS2CFI – Blog Posts Brittany Wong
The 400 Blows
"The 400 Blows" is classified as a French New Wave film because of the cinematic techniques
utilised. The film is shot on location on several city streets, as well as the rural location of the reform
school in the latter part of the film. This heightened the sense of life and culture in Paris, giving the
French viewers a deeper connection with the film by allowing them to relate to the story and
characters. Opposed to being shot in a constructed studio, the audience gets an "oh I've been there, I
know where that is" moment, which allows them to forget they are watching a film. The film avoids
locations that are seen as "touristy," catering to local audiences. The benefits to location shooting are
that real life is happening around the filming, unlike in a studio setting where everything can be
controlled.
The extravagant uses of long takes in the film, makes us question whether they are truly necessary
or not. The two most notable and longest takes are firstly, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To save Tequila from utter embarrassment/shame, Long decides to end it all by re–directing the gun

killing himself as well. In Live Free or Die Hard, McClane does the same thing. McClane is held at
gunpoint in a similar position as Long, and he decides to shoot through himself as well to kill the
antagonist Thomas Gabriel. Unlike Hard Boiled however, McClane survives since he only shot
himself through the shoulder instead of the gut like Long did. The first Die Hard film was released
in 1988, and Hard Boiled in 1992. I cannot help but think that the final act is inspired by Die Hard,
and vice versa for the final scene since Live Free or Die Hard was released in 2007.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
In the classic film "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", two eccentric characters, journalist Raoul
Duke and his psychotic attorney Dr. Gonzo travel to Las Vegas on a job and in search of the
American dream. Throughout the trip they find themselves in odd situations that one would not
normally encounter. Duke and Gonzo's predicaments could be explained be a wide variety of
psychological issues. One psychological concept that is a very large part of Duke and Gonzo's trip is
their excessive drug use. The movie begins with Duke narrating and driving a fire apple red
convertible that they rented, in the desert around Bartslow, California. It was then, he stated, the
drugs began to take hold. In the first five minutes of the movie Duke opens the trunk of the car,
while swatting at bats that weren't there and does an inventory of the drugs packed in a suit case.
The suitcase included "2 bags of grass, 75 pellets of Mescaline, 5 sheets of high powered blotter
acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multicolored uppers, downers, reamers and
laughers, one quarter tequila, one quarter rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and 2 dozen
amyls" (Fear and Loathing). The serious drug collection they had was to push them as far as they
could go. Duke and Gonzo had such a high tolerance to multiple drugs that they could take these
large amounts without serious consequences. Every drug they took fell into one of the four major
drug classes. Opiates, depressants,

DUMBO, a catchy acronym for "down under the Manhattan bridge overpass", references a

focused solely on industry, including cardboard and Brillo cleanser.
As time passed, a desire to de–industrialize the area garnered momentum, allowing for many of the
business buildings to be transformed into housing and apartment complexes. Many middle and ...

The biggest commercial aircraft on the market right now is the Airbus A380. This amazing feat of
engineering is so spectacular that it is the biggest that a commercial aircraft can be! The airbus A380
can be described in many different ways, most people call it spectacular or even just flat out
amazing that something this big can even get off the ground. While the industry continues to make
improvements to flight, they are also keeping the costs down, so that anyone flying can experience
flying in an Airbus, especially if they are traveling abroad. Many would say that the idea of building
the Airbus was thought of by a French transport minister named Jean Chamant and a German
economics minister, named Karl Schiller in 1969, but in all actuality, the idea was originated in in
1967 by ministers in France, Germany and Britain. They all agreed "for the purpose of strengthening
European co–operation in the field of aviation technology and thereby promoting economic and
technological progress in Europe, to take appropriate measures for the joint development and
production of an airbus" (Early Days, 1967–1969). They knew that if they did not come up with a
new concept for air flight, that the Americans would always be the leaders in the aircraft industry.
They knew it would take the effort of not just one country, but many that had built different aspects
of planes, and were well known for that contribution. France was to supply the cockpit, the control

Glass Movie Reflection
As I watched the movie, I noticed a variety of hints that made me question Glass' character and I
was a little frustrated that the other characters weren't able to pick up on them. I first sensed that
Glass was a little odd when he kept downgrading himself and his own work. This begins when Glass
is talking to Gloria and he says that his piece is going "Horrible" and moves into a meeting with
Amy and Caitlin where he says that they hate his piece, "it's the worst thing he's ever wrote", and
that he "might as well kill himself". This all happening within the first ten minutes of the movie, was
causing red flags to pop up in my head, wondering how he could be so self–loathing and dramatic
without anyone noticing. As the movie progresses, I can see that Glass is using his self–loathing to
manipulate his coworkers into helping him on his papers, dodging discipline from editors, and
averting inquisitiveness away from his pieces. One of the key phrases that I noticed he always used
was "Did I do something wrong? Are you mad at me?" which usually was reverberated with a
resilient "no". This stressed that he was emotionally manipulating his coworkers in order to get
away with his falsified work. All of these actions are what I would consider a 'flawed' person. His
manipulation, blatant lies, and exaggeration's are what I believe make him a flawed – especially
when he applied it to his line of work. The reason that these attributes make him more of a flawed
person when applied to

Narrative Loss And The Melancholic Reader Of Johnny Tremain
In Eric Tribunella's essay "Narrative Loss and the Melancholic Reader of Johnny Tremain", the
concept of failure is one of Tribunella's main focal points throughout the essay about Esther Forbes'
Johnny Tremain. Tribunella argues that these failures are present because the novel lacks climax
throughout the essay's entirety and without this climax there is no sense of closure in the most
climatic events. One particular failure that Tribunella mentions in his essay is the failure of love
triangles in the novel. Tribunella argues that there are three love triangles in Johnny Tremain but
none of these are fulfilled with a "bang". Instead each one of these love triangles slowly fizzles out
throughout the novel. The love triangles that are found in Forbes' Johnny Tremain are not those that
represent an epic romance but instead they represent those of a childhood crush. These
representations can be found in each one of the love triangles that Tribunella argues that is present in
the novel. Tribunella states that one of the love triangles in the novel is between Johnny, Cilla, and
Tweedie. One would believe that this love triangle would create a great conflict in the series due to
the fact that Tweedie is imposing on what was theoretically Johnny's territory. Johnny was the
original "golden boy" in the Lapham household and due to one accident his pedestal was taken away
from him. Tweedie, a man who was not even around, swoops in to save the Lapham family and
takes Johnny's

Summary Of Andre Bazin's The Ontology Of The Photographic...
In Andre Bazin's essay, "The Ontology of The Photographic Image", he argues that one of the
defining characteristics and inherent motivations in the production of art and artifacts, be it the
mummification of Pharaohs, portraits of Kings and Emperors, is the 'preservation of life by a
representation of life' (Bazin 238). He elaborates that at the heart of the plastic arts, such as painting
and sculpture, is a need to make immortal the mortal and to turn the image of our flesh into clay,
steel and paint. Bazin's essay touches on our need and motives to transform ourselves and preserve
our being beyond its physical existence. He focuses on how photography is the purest form of
capturing reality and how the arrival of cinema challenges itself with preserving life as it is or was,
without the alteration and manipulation from editing. Points of Interest Although most of Bazin's
essay is very interesting to read, there are a few points that I felt stand out within the essay. Bazin
explains that painting, in its attempt in the production of realism, encountered a problem in
combining both the representation of the spiritual reality or the emotionally reality with the
representation of the physical reality. Bazin notes that painting can successfully represent the
emotionally reality, but that the reproduction of the physical reality will always lean towards and
illusion. This illusion that Bazin references throughout his essay, I believe, is alluding to the
inability to truly

Analysis Of Francois Truffaut 's The 400 Blows ( 1959 )...
The French New Wave, or Nouvelle Vague, is among the most revolutionary film eras in the history
of cinema. Spurred as a result of major shifts in economic, social and technological norms within
post–WW11 France, the New Wave conceived a renewed mode of expression across various
creative industries. Francois Truffaut's The 400 Blows (1959) and Jean–Luc Godard's Breathless
(1960) are two films, which despite major disparities, would go on to exemplify integral
characteristics of the movement in the following years. Perhaps, the best way to truly appreciate the
fervor of New Wave cinema is to examine the context of its inception. Both the stylistic and
thematic qualities of French New Wave works directly reflect the implicit values, virtues and vices
possessed by the emerging youth culture of the late 1950s, which consequently posed a fundamental
challenge to the institutions, ideas and attitudes of the past.
To fully comprehend why and how this cinematic motion took place, it is valuable here to establish
the wider social climate of France at the time, and the active forces which heavily shaped New Wave
cinema. Between the years of 1945 and 1975, France would undergo "thirty glorious years" of
economic growth, urbanization, and a considerable baby boom, all of which came to expand and
radically alter the parameters of French culture (Haine 33). Beneath the surface affluence however,
France was in a state of deep self–evaluation and consciousness. Following WW11, the

Light In The Forest Johnny Tremain Analysis
Compare and Contrast Essay Rough Draft The Light in the Forest, by Conrad Richter, and Johnny
Tremain, by Esther Forbes, are two incredibly distinct novels, each with their own similarities and
differences when compared to one another. True Son, the protagonist in Light in the Forest, is a
fifteen–year–old boy raised by a tribe of Delaware Indians for the past eleven years of his life.
Though he is biologically American, he wholeheartedly considers himself a full blooded Indian.
This not only creates turmoil when he is forcibly moved to his biological white family but causes
True Son confusion when he is forced to choose between not only his two families but his two other
identities as well. On the other hand, Johnny Tremain, the protagonist in the novel Johnny Tremain,
faces a completely different situation for he is a fourteen–year old boy living in colonial Boston. He
is at first entirely self–centered and arrogant due to his prodigious gifts as a silversmith apprentice.
However, when an unfortunate injury results in him having a crippled hand, this destroys any chance
of him being an adequate silversmith. He faces humiliation but through many struggles and
difficulties transforms into a patriotic man. Through analyzing the two novels, there were many
similarities and differences found. Similarities include the difficult journey they both encounter as
well as their similar behavior. On the contrary, both individuals differ through their race and how
they were brought up. Both True Son and Johnny Tremain desire to stay in a comfortable setting.
They greatly enjoy their life and make no wish to change it. And yet, both characters were forced to
face hardships which ultimately changes both their situation as well as their perspectives in life. For
instance, Johnny Tremain had a comfortable position in life. He was widely considered the most
talented young silversmith in Boston. Though he was egotistic, he was destined for a bright future.
Regrettably, when molten silver disfigured his hand he lost his chance at ever becoming a
silversmith and can no longer find skilled work. Filled with self pity and despair, he almost turns to
a life of crime. Only his friendships and new job with a Whig newspaper company

Daniel Boek, a young business student with lots of drive. Currently there are two supervisors within
the shop to help ensure quality and effective work flow. One of the supervisors has been employed
two years with six years of experience in the industry and supervises night shifts. The other has been
there for around seven months with 14 years in the business and supervises day shifts. The
management structure is mainly iron fist. It's what the owner wants, or the highway. The owner also
tries to stay out of the business as much as possible and all problems, issues, concerns or questions
are directed to the supervisors and the manager. This creates a somewhat arbitrary view of what is in
the best interest for the restaurant. Along with the owner, manager and two supervisors there are
seven employees that work shifts that split between day and night. Among those employees, not
including the managers and supervisors the average employment length is 3.8 months. The manager

Plan B is taking two birth control pills in the morning and two in the evening, and I am not opposed to that." This means he agrees with the morning after pill. He disagrees with government funding for abortion. He signed a no taxpayer funding for abortion act. The act prohibits federal funds being used to cover abortion but excludes in cases such as rape, incest, or if a woman is in danger of death. It also disqualifies for purpose of tax deduction of medical expenses for abortion. Paul wants to defend Planned Parenthood. Taxes in this country help pay for many government and state programs. Right now we have seven tax bracket tax plan for income tax. The plan is based on how much you make, the more you make the higher the present. Paul's plan calls for a fourteen point five present flat tax no matter how much income you make. The plan also includes a $15000 deduction and a $5000 per a person personal exemption. Retirements accounts would stay the same and still keep mortgage and charitable deductions along with child tax deductions. For business, it would be a fourteen point nine percent business transfer tax that would be levied on factors of production and capital income. • 13. The 400 Blows By Francois Truffaut The 400 Blows is a great film. It is a testimony to Francois Truffaut's greatness. This is a film about a young French boy that has a troubled childhood. He was a rebel of sorts. He got in some trouble in the classroom and out of the classroom. He wasn't necessarily more troublesome than any other kid during that time. I think he is misunderstood and put in difficult situations. This French Film Noir had music, scenery, and a unique freeze frame that made this film great. Music added to this film. French music and classical music was played in the background. At no time was there any lyrics to the songs being played. I think this was advantageous as the camera angles captured the emotion of Antoine and other characters. Also the scene itself often in Paris was full of hustle and bustle. It's a big city so the city sounds where heard. Thus music with lyrics were not needed. I think the final scene is a great scene. This scene is of Antoine running away for the last time going to the ocean. Quiet and unique percussion music was being played as he was running towards the ocean. Scenery itself was set for the most part in Paris France. This was a city that was full of business day and night. The streets were crowded with pedestrians and cars were seen zooming by. This reflected how a boy such as Antoine could be forgotten and entangled with skipping school and other poor choices. The scene where Antoine is skipping school with his other school buddy indicates how he really was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The internet also made it easier and reduced the cost for people to compare the prices of opening/holding accounts, as well as the rates offered at various banks so the power of the buyer increases. The pressure coming from threat of substitutes is weak to medium because insurances, mutual funds, and fixed income securities are a few of the many banking services that are also offered by non–banking companies such as Sony, General Motors, and Microsoft, which offer preferred financing on big ticket items (ex. Houses, cars, furniture). The pressure coming from the bargaining power of suppliers is strong because banks have four main suppliers; customer deposits, mortgages and loans, mortgage–baked securities, and loan from other financial institutes; and the power of the suppliers is heavily based on the market so their power frequently fluctuates between medium to high. • 29. Film Analysis Of Franois Truffaut's 'The 400 Blows' This film analysis will delineate the diverse directorial decisions of The French New Wave cinema movement, and how they have been utilised and developed to challenge and subvert the typical Hollywood filmmaking conventions and techniques of the 1950s and 60s Hollywood cinema, in François Truffaut's The 400 Blows (1959). Hollywood produced films of the time used a very limited variation in film techniques such as camera, acting, mise–en–scene, editing and sound. This can be mainly attributed to the low innovative thought of creative and expressive camera movements, angles, etc... due to technological hindrances. In particular, this film analysis will de– construct the filmmaking elements of the revelatory French New Wave movement in Truffaut's The 400 Blows ending scene (01:34:42 – 01:39:32) portraying the main character Antoine Doinel's escape from juvie and trek to the bespoken beach. At the beginning of the scene, Antoine and his fellow juvie inmates are joined in a rather melancholy game of football/soccer. Antoine is then portrayed as making a spur of the moment and impulsive decision to escape when the referee/teacher is distracted by the game. The audience is then engaged with an extremely long tracking shot of Antoine running to a seemingly unbeknownst location to the audience. Following this scene his destination is revealed as the beach, leaving the audience to suppose and question why Antoine went there rather than being given a perfect fairytale ending typical to ... • 41. Fear, Loathing, By Hunter S. Thompson 's Novel, Fear And... The American Dream is the phrase and trademark of American society today that many hope to achieve in some point in their lives. In Hunter S. Thompson's novel, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, readers follow Thompson depicted as Raoul Duke and his attorney Dr. Gonzo in hoping to find the American Dream. It uses Gonzo Journalism, a style that is an adaption of Picaresque narrative to document his drug–induced experiences traveling through 1970's Las Vegas. The Picaresque novels are composed of first–person narrative that relates to the adventures of a picaro character or rogue hero with an episodic structure and romantic techniques to present the story as a realist. The novel presents various examples of picaresque genre and American journey narratives. Thompson uses picaresque narrative of a rogue hero's desert journey for the American Dream in bars, casinos, hotels only to find that it is essentially unattainable. At the same time, Thompsons examines the generation's failure to achieve the American Dream by commenting on their cultural behavior in the 1960s and 1970s. The principles of Picaresque genre are revealed throughout the novel: first person narrative and episodic structure of a rogue hero. Thompson portrays an episodic plot in the novel where the rogue hero travels back and forth in search of the American Dream. • 45. The American Dream The American Dream is the idea of equal opportunity for all, with freedom to do what you want with your life. It is the idea that what you can achieve depends on how much work you put in, but with some people today putting in years of hard work and diligence only to never move up in the world the reality of this dream is beginning to be challenged. Believers of the American Dream claim that everyone has the same basic set of rights and opportunities to succeed, but with there being so many varying people with different economic and cultural backgrounds immigrating to US are there enough opportunities to go around? I believe the American Dream is dead because new generations aren't making as much as older generations, the poor are staying poor and the rich are staying rich, and due to discrimination some people are born having less opportunities. The American Dream might have been alive in the past but with newer generations not being able to make as much money as older generations the dream has not continued to exist. "Using Federal Reserve data to compare 25– to 34–year–olds in 2013 with their counterparts from 1989, the advocacy group Young Invincibles found that, after adjusting for inflation, Millennials earn 20 percent less than baby boomers did at the same stage in life" (). Astruc went on to describe how the problem of the cinema is how to express thought. Fake news can be written, published or broadcasted with an intention to damage a person's or company reputation or so as to gain popularity. The headlines of the fake news are eye catching which compels people to at least once go through it. 1 If I had to help someone spot fake news then I would definitely recommend to analyse the news through factcheck.org. This is 21st century where almost all the people want popularity , money. Gérard shows his brutal and child like nature when he chases one of his tormentors, when he gets him he slaps him, a primal and a beast just like children would curl. The spectacle of the lovers is always accompanied by either screams or whispers and extremely agitated and exciting body languages. The children are constantly reactive to the spectacle of the love that they are seeing. The second motif will be the connection between love and death. In a perfect way the spectacle in Truffaut's film constantly connected to the looming to the unavoidable death. Truffaut very subtly continues the symbolic play with colors, Bernadette will only wear white until the crucial foreshadow moment of Gérard when they kiss goodbye. For the first time their relationship is connected to sadness. Just like a child Gérard proposes to Bernadette by singing in a very childish way. This moment is important because the promise of a life together will be derailed by an accident. The end of the film is sectioned again by the unavoidable reality of death that will destroy love. Cinematic Techniques Essay examples Cinematic Techniques The extraordinary film The 400 Blows (Francois Truffaut, 1959) skillfully uses cinematic devices appropriately within the context of the theme. Part of the underlying theme of this movie as explained by Truffaut himself is, "... to portray a child as honestly as possible..."(Writing About Film, 1982). It is the scenes in this movie that are most helpful in disclosing the overall theme of the film. Within the scenes, the camera angles in this film play an important role in accentuating the emotions behind the scene. The camera angles used in this film will be the primary focus of this paper. There is a definite correlation here between the angle selected and the sense of childhood innocence. However, this particular camera angle does not always hold the same meaning in every shot. A latter high angle shot involves the elementary school teacher. Mr. Bigey (Georges Flamant), the teacher, is first demonstrated in this film by using a high angle close–up. This angle presents the teacher as a figure of authority and rule. Furthermore it establishes a feeling control. Humans are most likely to look up to, figuratively speaking, figures of authority and control. As to follow with the storyline, the teacher is almighty and can direct the children in any sort of fashion he pleases. He has the control. This particular angle is appropriate for this scene because it establishes, right away, that Mr. Bigey is a force to be reckoned with. For example, when someone is knocked out in a fistfight and the first view they see upon awakening is the opponent towering over them, they are more apt to recognize the authority and control considering the view. That is why this angle works. Speaking of view, the next shot that will be discussed gives an entirely different feel, partly because of the view, but it does remain within the definition of a high angle shot. In the reformatory, immediately after exiting the patty wagon, another high angle shot is employed to reveal the reinforced bars on the ceiling giving the audience a ... Coca Cola wanted to continue its international expansion because it believed that the U.S. market would eventually reach maturity, and that growth prospects were better overseas. For much of its initial expansion, Coca Cola followed a localization strategy, allowing each country unit to manage its own operations. QUESTION 2: Why did Coca Cola change its initial strategy? What strategy did Coca Cola start to pursue in 2000? What were the benefits of this strategy to Coca Cola? What were the drawbacks? ANSWER 2: In the 1980s, Coca Cola changed its strategy from a localization approach where individual country units essentially ran their own operations, to a more centralized approach where key management and marketing activities took place at the company headquarters in Atlanta. The company extended this strategy to include foreign bottlers. By taking equity stakes in the bottlers, Coca Cola was able to exert greater control over them. Coca Cola made the shift to the global standardization strategy because it believed that by doing so, the company could gain significant economies of scale. However, by 2000, the company was ready to change its strategy once again. Coca Cola was losing market share to companies that used a more localized strategy, and under the guidance of its new CEO, Coca Cola began once again to give local managers more decision making power. What is of essence, however, is the potential of the likelihood of these new entrants to be worthy adversaries and competitors in the industry (Pratap). New entrants, as Pratap postulates, have mountains to move before they can be afforded a front row seat in the industry. Pratap however appreciates that the creativity of new entrants in the market could see these new entrants offer worthy competition to the already existing fashion companies. The film is shot on location on several city streets, as well as the rural location of the reform school in the latter part of the film. This heightened the sense of life and culture in Paris, giving the French viewers a deeper connection with the film by allowing them to relate to the story and characters. Opposed to being shot in a constructed studio, the audience gets an "oh I've been there, I know where that is" moment, which allows them to forget they are watching a film. The film avoids locations that are seen as "touristy," catering to local audiences. Throughout the trip they find themselves in odd situations that one would not normally encounter. Duke and Gonzo's predicaments could be explained be a wide variety of psychological issues. One psychological concept that is a very large part of Duke and Gonzo's trip is their excessive drug use. The movie begins with Duke narrating and driving a fire apple red convertible that they rented, in the desert around Bartslow, California. It was then, he stated, the drugs began to take hold. • 106. Research Paper On Airbus A380 The biggest commercial aircraft on the market right now is the Airbus A380. This amazing feat of engineering is so spectacular that it is the biggest that a commercial aircraft can be! The airbus A380 can be described in many different ways, most people call it spectacular or even just flat out amazing that something this big can even get off the ground. While the industry continues to make improvements to flight, they are also keeping the costs down, so that anyone flying can experience flying in an Airbus, especially if they are traveling abroad. Many would say that the idea of building the Airbus was thought of by a French transport minister named Jean Chamant and a German economics minister, named Karl Schiller in 1969, but in all actuality, the idea was originated in in 1967 by ministers in France, Germany and Britain. They all agreed "for the purpose of strengthening European co–operation in the field of aviation technology and thereby promoting economic and technological progress in Europe, to take appropriate measures for the joint development and production of an airbus" (Early Days, 1967–1969). They knew that if they did not come up with a new concept for air flight, that the Americans would always be the leaders in the aircraft industry. They knew it would take the effort of not just one country, but many that had built different aspects of planes, and were well known for that contribution. France was to supply the cockpit, the control systems, and the lower ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 110. Glass Movie Reflection As I watched the movie, I noticed a variety of hints that made me question Glass' character and I was a little frustrated that the other characters weren't able to pick up on them. I first sensed that Glass was a little odd when he kept downgrading himself and his own work. This begins when Glass is talking to Gloria and he says that his piece is going "Horrible" and moves into a meeting with Amy and Caitlin where he says that they hate his piece, "it's the worst thing he's ever wrote", and that he "might as well kill himself". This all happening within the first ten minutes of the movie, was causing red flags to pop up in my head, wondering how he could be so self–loathing and dramatic without anyone noticing. As the movie progresses, I can see that Glass is using his self–loathing to manipulate his coworkers into helping him on his papers, dodging discipline from editors, and averting inquisitiveness away from his pieces. One of the key phrases that I noticed he always used was "Did I do something wrong? Are you mad at me?" which usually was reverberated with a resilient "no". This stressed that he was emotionally manipulating his coworkers in order to get away with his falsified work. All of these actions are what I would consider a 'flawed' person. His manipulation, blatant lies, and exaggeration's are what I believe make him a flawed – especially when he applied it to his line of work. The reason that these attributes make him more of a flawed person when applied to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 114. Narrative Loss And The Melancholic Reader Of Johnny Tremain In Eric Tribunella's essay "Narrative Loss and the Melancholic Reader of Johnny Tremain", the concept of failure is one of Tribunella's main focal points throughout the essay about Esther Forbes' Johnny Tremain. Tribunella argues that these failures are present because the novel lacks climax throughout the essay's entirety and without this climax there is no sense of closure in the most climatic events. One particular failure that Tribunella mentions in his essay is the failure of love triangles in the novel. Tribunella argues that there are three love triangles in Johnny Tremain but none of these are fulfilled with a "bang". Instead each one of these love triangles slowly fizzles out throughout the novel. The love triangles that are found in Forbes' Johnny Tremain are not those that represent an epic romance but instead they represent those of a childhood crush. These representations can be found in each one of the love triangles that Tribunella argues that is present in the novel. Tribunella states that one of the love triangles in the novel is between Johnny, Cilla, and Tweedie. One would believe that this love triangle would create a great conflict in the series due to the fact that Tweedie is imposing on what was theoretically Johnny's territory. Johnny was the original "golden boy" in the Lapham household and due to one accident his pedestal was taken away from him. Tweedie, a man who was not even around, swoops in to save the Lapham family and takes Johnny's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 118. Summary Of Andre Bazin's The Ontology Of The Photographic... In Andre Bazin's essay, "The Ontology of The Photographic Image", he argues that one of the defining characteristics and inherent motivations in the production of art and artifacts, be it the mummification of Pharaohs, portraits of Kings and Emperors, is the 'preservation of life by a representation of life' (Bazin 238). He elaborates that at the heart of the plastic arts, such as painting and sculpture, is a need to make immortal the mortal and to turn the image of our flesh into clay, steel and paint. Bazin's essay touches on our need and motives to transform ourselves and preserve our being beyond its physical existence. He focuses on how photography is the purest form of capturing reality and how the arrival of cinema challenges itself with preserving life as it is or was, without the alteration and manipulation from editing. Points of Interest Although most of Bazin's essay is very interesting to read, there are a few points that I felt stand out within the essay. Bazin explains that painting, in its attempt in the production of realism, encountered a problem in combining both the representation of the spiritual reality or the emotionally reality with the representation of the physical reality. Bazin notes that painting can successfully represent the emotionally reality, but that the reproduction of the physical reality will always lean towards and illusion. This illusion that Bazin references throughout his essay, I believe, is alluding to the inability to truly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ESTY JASON AUERBACH Bankruptcy and Restructuring at Marvel Entertainment Group Not since the big retailing bankruptcies of the early 1990s has so much money been lost on Wall Street. Everyone is screaming murder.1 – Wall Street trader On January 28, 1997, one month after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Marvel Entertainment Group, Inc. (Marvel) filed its plan of reorganization with the United States Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware. According to the plan, Ronald Perelman, Marvel's largest shareholder, would recapitalize the company by investing $365 million in exchange for 427 million newly issued shares. Although this holding company structure was complex, it provided Perelman with both legal and financial protection. From a legal perspective, limited liability at the subsidiary level protected the holding companies from financial liability in default situations. From a financial perspective, consolidation allowed the holding companies to share net operating losses across firms because they typically owned at least 80% of the subsidiaries, the minimum level required by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). According to a tax analyst at Lehman Brothers, Perelman "... knows how to exploit net operating losses better than anyone."4 Another analyst commented: [In 1996, his companies] ... generated more than $600 million in profits, yet a careful reading of their financial statements suggests they paid little or nothing in taxes to the U.S. government. • 139. Analysis Of Francois Truffaut 's The 400 Blows ( 1959 )... The French New Wave, or Nouvelle Vague, is among the most revolutionary film eras in the history of cinema. Spurred as a result of major shifts in economic, social and technological norms within post–WW11 France, the New Wave conceived a renewed mode of expression across various creative industries. Francois Truffaut's The 400 Blows (1959) and Jean–Luc Godard's Breathless (1960) are two films, which despite major disparities, would go on to exemplify integral characteristics of the movement in the following years. Perhaps, the best way to truly appreciate the fervor of New Wave cinema is to examine the context of its inception. Both the stylistic and thematic qualities of French New Wave works directly reflect the implicit values, virtues and vices possessed by the emerging youth culture of the late 1950s, which consequently posed a fundamental challenge to the institutions, ideas and attitudes of the past. To fully comprehend why and how this cinematic motion took place, it is valuable here to establish the wider social climate of France at the time, and the active forces which heavily shaped New Wave cinema. Between the years of 1945 and 1975, France would undergo "thirty glorious years" of economic growth, urbanization, and a considerable baby boom, all of which came to expand and radically alter the parameters of French culture (Haine 33). Beneath the surface affluence however, France was in a state of deep self–evaluation and consciousness. Following WW11, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 143. Light In The Forest Johnny Tremain Analysis Compare and Contrast Essay Rough Draft The Light in the Forest, by Conrad Richter, and Johnny Tremain, by Esther Forbes, are two incredibly distinct novels, each with their own similarities and differences when compared to one another. True Son, the protagonist in Light in the Forest, is a fifteen–year–old boy raised by a tribe of Delaware Indians for the past eleven years of his life. Though he is biologically American, he wholeheartedly considers himself a full blooded Indian. This not only creates turmoil when he is forcibly moved to his biological white family but causes True Son confusion when he is forced to choose between not only his two families but his two other identities as well. On the other hand, Johnny Tremain, the protagonist in the novel Johnny Tremain, faces a completely different situation for he is a fourteen–year old boy living in colonial Boston. He is at first entirely self–centered and arrogant due to his prodigious gifts as a silversmith apprentice. However, when an unfortunate injury results in him having a crippled hand, this destroys any chance of him being an adequate silversmith. He faces humiliation but through many struggles and difficulties transforms into a patriotic man. Through analyzing the two novels, there were many similarities and differences found. Similarities include the difficult journey they both encounter as well as their similar behavior. On the contrary, both individuals differ through their race and how they were brought up. Both True Son and Johnny Tremain desire to stay in a comfortable setting. They greatly enjoy their life and make no wish to change it. And yet, both characters were forced to face hardships which ultimately changes both their situation as well as their perspectives in life. For instance, Johnny Tremain had a comfortable position in life. He was widely considered the most talented young silversmith in Boston. Though he was egotistic, he was destined for a bright future. Regrettably, when molten silver disfigured his hand he lost his chance at ever becoming a silversmith and can no longer find skilled work. Filled with self pity and despair, he almost turns to a life of crime. Only his friendships and new job with a Whig newspaper company ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The shop has been in operation for five and a half years and its target market includes families and drinkers in the area surrounding the shop. Strobelli's is owned by Jay Stroble a local businessman and managed by Daniel Boek, a young business student with lots of drive. Currently there are two supervisors within the shop to help ensure quality and effective work flow. One of the supervisors has been employed two years with six years of experience in the industry and supervises night shifts. The other has been there for around seven months with 14 years in the business and supervises day shifts. The management structure is mainly iron fist. It's what the owner wants, or the highway. The owner also tries to stay out of the business as much as possible and all problems, issues, concerns or questions are directed to the supervisors and the manager. This creates a somewhat arbitrary view of what is in the best interest for the restaurant. Along with the owner, manager and two supervisors there are seven employees that work shifts that split between day and night. Among those employees, not including the managers and supervisors the average employment length is 3.8 months.
