Eastwood Summary
Eastwood Summary
Timeless appeal, retro settings, village appeal are all terms used to describe the charming Sydney
suburb of Eastwood. It has it all without being hectic and noisy. There is a shopping centre and
shopping plaza where locals go shopping for things they need and want. Whatever virtually any type
of services you need, Eastwood has a local provider for it. Medical services abound and eateries are
all over with a few different cuisines from which to choose. Working people of the suburb mostly
drive to get back and forth to work, but the area is convenient to the train and bus transport systems.

Lace Up Your Shoes Essay
Quick! Look at your shoes. If your shoes have laces, they might be tied wrong. In fact, about 50% of
Americans tie their shoes the wrong way, that is, they use the wrong knot when tying their shoes. If
your laces come undone, or your bows are twisted, or you double knot your shoes to prevent them
from coming untied, then chances are, you tie your shoes the wrong way.
About two years ago I took up running. I loved my new sport and entered several running events
and races mostly 5K's. Six months into my new hobby, I decided I was a "real runner" and because I
was a "real runner," I needed to subscribe to a real running magazine. It's a well–known fact that
every diehard runner has to subscribe to a running magazine of some sort. ... Show more content on

First you were shown how to take one lace and pass it under the other." After reading this, it dawned
on me that most of us
were taught how to tie our shoes when we were four or five years old. Our parents or siblings taught
us, but didn't necessarily teach us to do it right. If you tie your shoes wrong, don't worry. It only
takes a minor tweak to tie the right knot – a "Reef Knot." All shoelace knots start the same; laces
crossed over–under, and then finish with a bow. However, if you finish the bow in the same
direction that you crossed the laces, you will end up with a "Granny Knot." A Granny Knot has an
unbalanced bow, e.g., the bow is turned at 45 to 90 degrees and sometimes it's perfectly inline with
the shoe (see illustration below). Granny Knots usually come untied. People that tie granny knots,
"granny knotters" are the people you see in line at the grocery store tying their shoes. They are the
people whose shoes come untied at the most inopportune time, like the base runner rounding third
base heading for home plate in the World Series, or the marathon runner who has to stop to tie his
shoes in the middle of the race. Granny knotters tie double knots to prevent their shoes from coming
untied. This works until its time to untie the knot, and we all know how hard it can be to untie a
double knot, especially with cold hands.
The other 50% are the people who tie their shoes the right way using a

Susan Glaspell's Play, Trifles
What are trifles? In Susan Glaspell's play, Trifles, we look at a murder case that happens in an
isolated farmhouse. Mr. Wright has been murdered while he was asleep. Someone has a strung a
rope around his neck. That someone is Mrs. Wright. Trifles illustrates that men have substantially
more power than women. They first start by going in to the kitchen. Everyone observes the kitchen
to see that it is a mess. The men leaves the room. The ladies wonder about the kitchen. Mrs. Wright
requested that the ladies bring her an apron to her. After finding the apron they both wonder around
the kitchen to find that the table was half cleaned. "Mrs. Hale [Who is standing by the table.] Well, I
don't see any signs of anger around here. [She puts her hand on the dish towel which lies on the
table, stands looking down at table, one half of which is clean, the other half messy.] It's wiped to
here." (line 68) Mrs. Hale says that there is no sign of anger but that clearly is the case. A normal
person won't just clean half the table and leave the other half of uncleaned. There had a to be a
reason for this. Even though Mrs. Hale doesn't realize it, she was on to something. Mrs. Wright was
mad at Mr. Wright so she didn't clean his side of the table. The ladies find that Mrs. Wright had a
quilt. "Mrs. Hale It's log–cabin pattern. Pretty, isn't it? I wonder if she was goin' to quilt it or just
knot it?" (line 72) Mrs. Wright could have quilted it or knotted it. She ended up knotting it. Ms.

A Short Story : A Story?
*Slam*. The door shuts. The room was silent, you could hear a pin drop. Leah left and I heard the
car start up. We've never gotten in a fight like this. Tears started streaming down my face. The tears
started streaming down my face harder and harder by the second. AGHHHHH I screamed. I slowly
got up from the table the chair squeaking making the same sound it made when Leah left. WOOSH.
I think that was the fastest I've EVER turned around. I saw a small shadow. Nobody else was home.
but there was still a shadow? I walked around the corner...nothing. I ran upstairs and WOOSH again.
I checked my bedroom and Leah's bedroom. There was nothing in there. Everything went black.
Unknown said "hello, we finally get to meet. How's your mom? How about your dad... oh yeah he's
dead. Your mom will be soon.
I saw a dark figure walking toward me then a face appeared in the small amount of light.... It was
Leah. I said "Leah?!?!? Is that you? Did that person kidnap you? Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
My mind spinning 100 miles an hour. Would Leah really do this? Why me?
Leah said "you hurt me. This was my only choice. Mom killed dad... all because of you."
I could see flames in her eyes. They were burning bright... as if the fire was just started. I could tell
it was only going to get bigger. I didn't mean to. It wasn't my fault. I heard mumbling from the
corner. I turned my head slowly but still looking at Leah. It was someone from Leah's school. She

Descriptive Essay On Apple Picking
Apple Picking Today was going exceptionally well for me. My mom said we were going apple
picking. We get there and play for a while. After a while we decide to go on the tractor. We hop onto
the back of the wagon and go riding on the short trail. When we arrive, I see rows and rows of trees
with apples hanging off of the hands of their arms. "It's time to go apple picking!" I think to myself
excitedly. Everyone grabs their own little baggies and are told we can only pick four–five apples
otherwise we'd have hundreds of apples when we finish. I follow my mom through the rows of trees
labeled Granny Smith Apples. It doesn't take me long to find some juicy looking apples. Once I
finish picking my apples, I lay them next to my mom and go find my cousins Abby and Mia to play
with.
We run through the series of trees until we tire ourselves out. After a while we head back to where
all of our aunts are. "Let's get some family pictures." says my aunt Naomi. We all gather around and
take one big family picture and then separate pictures. "Let's get a picture with all three of you girls
biting into the same apple." exclaims our mothers. We go pick a few large sized apples and return in
about thirty seconds. My aunts position us while my mom gets the camera ready. I decide to take the
first bite out of the apple. When Abby takes the next bite, we see that there's no room for me. We
discard the apple by giving it to my mom to eat. We grab a new apple but I let Abby take the first

Fishing For Shad Research Paper
WILLIE
For some unexplained reason, on our way back to the cabin after a successful couple of hours on the
lake, my thoughts drifted back to my childhood again. This time I was fishing for American Shad
from the shore of the Hudson River at Crawbucky Beach. Shad is a salt water fish from the Atlantic
Ocean. They are a silver scaled fish with black spots on its back and adult shad often reach the
weight of 4 or 5 pounds. Each spring the shad return to the Hudson River to spawn in their ancient
hatcheries.
The Sint Sinc Indians were a tribe of Native Americans who lived in the area of Ossining prior to
the arrival of the Dutch colonists. Each spring, the blooming of a local bush plant named
Amelanchier would signal the arrival of the shad. In turn, the natives would ready themselves by
building large fishing baskets to use as nets to trap the once abundant shad.
For centuries, there were two reasons why fishing for shad was popular. Of course, the most
important reason being is to feed one's family. The Sint Sinc would net as many shad as they could
then dry them in the fresh spring air. After the moisture evaporates from the fish, the natives would
preserve the shad by salting. If the tribe was lucky, the stockpile of fish would last then until the
next spawning season. The other reason why shad were so important to the ... Show more content on

A Worn Path Eudora Welty Analysis
Reading Journal
1. A Worn Path – Eudora Welty
I found this story to be sad. I know that during the 1940s and 1950s there were a lot of race and
racism especially in Mississippi. Phoenix's journey into town show how Southern whites were in
this era. A white hunter helps her out of the ditch but patronizes her and dismiss her journey "I know
you old colored people! Wouldn't miss going to town to see Santa Claus!" This white hunter also
taunts her by pointing his loaded gun at her and asking "Doesn't the gun scare you?" Phoenix
remains calm and steady causing the hunter to exclaim "Well, Granny you must be a hundred years
old, and scared of nothing,"
Honestly, there is still race and racism going on today. I did enjoy this story it just made ... Show

The Road Not Taken & Out, Out – Robert Frost
The speaker comes to a fork in the road and must decide which path to follow. Three of the five
lines begin with the word and. The yellow leaves suggest that it is autumn and that this wooded area
may have alder and birch wood trees instead of maple trees. There is another way to look at the
bright yellow leaves, one season will soon give way to another one. That this single decision can
transform a life.
The speaker calls the road he chose "less traveled" and it does initially strike him as slightly grassier,
slightly less trafficked. As soon as he made his choice, he doubles back, erasing the distinction even
as he makes it "through as for that the passing there, had worn them really about the same." Frost
then reiterates that the two roads are comparable, observing that this time the roads are equally
untraveled covered in newly fallen yellow leaves.
Out, Out is about a young man is cutting firewood with a buzz saw in New England. Near the end of
the day, the boy sister announces that it is time for dinner, and out of excitement, the boy accidently
cuts his hand with the saw. He begs his sister not to allow the doctor to amputate the hand but
inwardly realizes that he has already lost too much blood to survive. The boy dies while under

Warm Hat Essay
This super comfortable and warm hat is a quick and easy knitting project that an individual can do
without having to crochet or do traditional knitting. As a beginner, using looms is the easiest way to
work with yarn projects. There are a bunch of types of looms that can be used to make hats, scarves,
ear warms, bag, etc. A bunch of projects can be done on a loom without having any experience in
knitting or crochet. This hat can be done on a round loom, the size will depend if it is done for an
adult or a child. For this project, the hat will be for an adult size.
Time needed: 2–3 hours
Materials needed:
yarn needle loom hook scissors knitting loom with at least 20 pegs

Start from the peg that is to the left of the anchor peg. Push the hook under the two bottom strands
of the yarn and pull it up over the top strands of the yarn. The groove in the beg is very helpful for
this process. Now loop the bottom yarn over all around the loom. To continue knitting, wrap around
all the pegs again from the begging on the beg right above the anchor peg and then bring the bottom
yarn loop over the top of the peg again. Once there is about an inch or two of stitches done, take the
yarn of the anchor peg so that it is not pulling as the project is continued. About fifteen rows need to
be knitted to continue to the next step.
Step 5: Knitting the brim
After knitting a few rows, fold them over so there is a doubled over bit of knitting. This makes the
hat look more finished and also helps keep the hat in place on the head. To knit the brim, bring up
the tail from the initial part of the hat and loop it around to the right of the anchor peg. Put the loops
all the way around the loom then finish the brim by using the hook to loop the pull the bottom yarn
loops over the top loops. Now the brim is secure, wrap the pegs and start knitting as normal again.

My Last Rodeo
Last Rodeo
When I tell people I've competed in rodeos, everyone always seems to think of a rodeo with cows
and horses. However, when I talk about rodeos I actually mean Lineman Rodeos. Some people have
asked me if it has something to do with lineman that play football. Then I have to explain to them
that a Lineman is a person that works on the power lines, the overhead or underground lines that
supply electricity to homes and businesses then most people understand what kind of Lineman I am.
A Lineman Rodeo is a competition that consist of five different events on the top of a 40–foot wood

poles that I don't want to climb. While walking around I can smell the chemicals in the air that are
used to treat the new rodeo poles. The chemical is a distinct smell that all rodeos have in the air. My
first event of the morning was the hurt–man rescue. For this event, the time starts when I first touch
my climbing gear and time ends when the 185 lbs. manikin touches the ground. The time limit for
this event was four minutes which I completed it in one minute and ten seconds with no deductions
for safety violations. After the completion of my first event I was feeling good about the day. From
there, my second and third events went really well, good times with no deductions. My fourth event
was a knot tying event. I did exceptionally well in that event, beating my other competitors by two
minutes or so. My last event was a streetlight and photo–cell change–out. I was a little nervous and
the pressure was on because I knew that I had done good all day and had a good possibility to place
in the competition and get on stage for a trophy; which would be an amazing experience for my last
rodeo as an apprentice. On this event I had to score a 100 with a good time to place in the
competition, and I

Your body needs five nutrients to survive: protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Plants
can be a great source of all of these, but it is important to know which plants or plant parts are
edible.
Believe it or not, thistles are edible, and easy to identify. In 1870, a man named Truman Everts was
part of the early exploration of the Yellowstone region. At some point during the expedition, he
became lost. For a month, he subsisted on thistles. Why thistles? He lost had lost his glasses and was
able to identify thistles by touch.
All parts of the thistle plant are edible, even the spiny leaves. To prevent your mouth, throat and

Korda Solid Bags
How to Tie the Sneaky Rig – #1 Rig Tutorials This week we're going to let you into a little secret
called the "Sneaky Rig". Why the name the sneaky rig you ask, well it's made up of common
components but with a little edge that I guaranty will never have been used on your lake before. This
rig has resulted in large carp captures from very pressured and difficult venues. Designed for the
wariest of carp that's seen every trick in the book. This rig is tangle proof and ideal for most lake
bottoms. Let's get started The components you will need for this rig is the following: Size 6 hook
(Korda Kurv or Krank patterns work are ideal) Korda N–trap soft 15lb/20lb 3oz square pear lead
ESP anti tangle sleeves Korda shockleader sleeves Korda ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Step 7: Make a solid bag You will need a PVA solid bag for this step I personally like the Korda
Solid Bags (small). Firstly add the hooklink into the bag and hook it to the bottom. Make sure the
hair is not tangled then start adding your pellets. Fill up half the bag with pellets then squeeze the
bag and knock it gently on a side of a bucket so the pellets get into every little gap. Now add the
lead into the bag and lightly fill the bag a little more pellets up to ¾ full but make sure you don't fill
it up to much. Twist the bag and knock it again to make it solid then lick the twisted area. If you're
casting the bag at a long distance you can make it even more aerodynamic by folding back the
corners and securing them with a little saliva. Conclusion So there you go you have now learnt an
awesomely effective 'Sneaky' rig that catches big carp. Hope you've learnt something from the guide
and if you have made any adjustments or tweaks of your own to the Sneaky Rig then let us know in
the comments below we love to hear about them! Remember to check out our tackle reviews and

First, Harold starts to live life with passion and a dream when he starts off his transformation with
purchasing a guitar to fulfill his life dream of playing one. When he is at the music store to buy
guitars, instead of picking the attractive and high–quality guitars, he chooses a mal–treated Fender
electric guitar. Harold wants a guitar that said something about him, and this guitar certainly does
what he wants. This guitar is similar in one way than Harold that it is once mistreated. The guitar is
abused by its previous owner, just as Harold once has been overly harsh on himself. Harold's buying
the guitar shows that he desires to start treating the damaged guitar well. But more importantly, he
wants to start enjoying his life by realizing his desire of playing the guitar rather than by
compulsively measuring and rationalizing every single detail of his life. By playing the guitar, he
resuscitates his life with passion, and the desire to pursue dreams.
Harold starts pursuing Ana using irrational methods after adding passion and desire to pursue
ambitions in his life. One day, he gets up in the middle of the night and goes all the way to Ana's

Rhetorical Analysis Of Advertisement
An old saying that comes into play when just glancing at this advertisement, "An apple a day keeps
the doctor away." is an old saying pediatricians would say to their miniature patients. Who would
know this could grab attention of people just watching TV? "An Apple a Day" illustrates four
Granny Smith apples on one side of the ad while a slice of a Granny Smith apple sits on the other
side of the ad. The product the advertiser is selling has more to offer than the other companies
which, is shown by the whole apples and the slice of an apple. The small description underneath the
Granny Smith apples has a formal, yet demanding tone that provides information about the product.
In the fine print, it has some details on how their company is "one of the best. "Then below the small
caption is a large, bold black logo followed by the contact information of the company all directed
towards drivers. "An Apple a Day" is trying to connect with middle–class drivers looking for better
quality insurance for an inexpensive price.
The "An Apple a Day" advertisement is appealing to audience's ethos of the product. According to
Quick Access: Reference for Writers, ethos is "confidence in the writer's reliability and
trustworthiness." (Troyka and Hesse 19). In other words, ethos is credibility or trust. The small print
is what seems to be something people skip over when skimming an ad, but in this case, it is
something people should pay attention to. The apple itself is healthy, which appeal

The Magdalen With The Smoking Flame Summary
The Magdalen with the Smoking Flame is a work of art done by Georges De La Tour. It was
completed in the year 1640 using oil paint on canvas in France, and it is now located at the Los
Angeles County Museum of Art. This painting is of a woman, possibly pregnant, sitting leaning on a
table her head rested on one hand. She also has a skull on her lap and the other hand placed on it. In
the back ground there is a small stack of books and candlelight. More than anything on this painting,
it is focused on the woman state of mind and heart rather than the skull or anything else. The simple
arrangement of how the artist used vertical and horizontal shapes draws the viewer really close into
the Magdalen's thoughts. The skull and the books purpose is to set the mood in what the woman
might be feeling. The focal point of the entire painting seems to be the candle because not only is it
bright, but the woman is gazing profoundly into it. Everything in the painting is smoothed surface.
The painter did not use texture in the paint but only in very few areas like in the oil of the candle.
The tones in this painting are warm. There are a lot of browns and ambers. A few cool colors were
used to define the shadows of the shapes with blue. The attention getter is the candle light. It's
almost hard to ignore because it is so bright. The second brightest thing in the painting is the
woman's shirt, but even that is not as bright because of all the shadows and creases in it. Another

Speaker Mongs propped up a log to sit on and looked on. He took a knife from Lief's bag and began

manifestation of his emotion. So he gripped the fisherman's wrist and thought about inflicting the

When Lief approached him with a knife and glass vile, Rayne screamed. A burst of high frequency

leading to the boy King. Lief jumped away just in time for the coursing flaming to miss his pants.
Rayne hurled his face away from the rising fire, the heat scorching every crevice of his body,
engulfing him. He shook and screamed, hoping for someone to stop the pain. The first face that he
imagined was Montague's. "Monte!" he screamed.

Within seconds, only silence remained. The fire eventually surrendered to the angry sky's pouring
rain. Smoke rose into the east wind. Within the heavy fog, the burned–black pole remained lodged
upright in the rocks. But there was no sign of a body. "No," Lief said. He stepped closer to the post,
"No, No, No. This can't be possible. I...I tied him tight. I saw him burning. He couldn't have
loosened that knot!" The fisherman was frantic. When Lief was a boy his father would take bets at

Grief : A Short Story
Grief is like the ocean, sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we need
to do to survive it is learn how to swim. Losing her was like a tsunami and learning to swim was like
moving a mountain, but inch by inch, my mountain of grief moved on.
On a fateful November day, my aunt called my mother. This was usual, so I thought nothing of it
until she hung up. When I saw the shock on my mother's face I knew right away that something was
wrong, but it wasn't until my older sister asked that we knew the devastating news. My grandmother
needed surgery, but not something minor, she needed heart surgery and my mother wanted to be
with her during her time in the hospital. My siblings and I begged our mother to let us come with
her, but she said no, when my mother made up her mind that was that and there was no way around
it. The day my mother left for the hospital, we all gave her a kiss and a hug and told her to tell
Granny we loved her, my mother smiled at this and promised to tell her, but she didn't know at that
time what would happen not even four days later.
My mother returned three days later with a poker face even my father couldn't read and she sat the
whole family down in the living room, as she breathed in a deep breath my stomach churned
uneasily. When the words escaped her lips I broke down, I didn't care if I was acting like a baby.
"Guys, the surgery didn't go too well. Granny's gone." Those words changed my life forever. My
mother later

Installing Your Own Hair Extensions Essays
Having long, healthy hair could possibly be one of the envied genes amongst women. Many women
take supplements or undergo surgery to provide them with the added confidence of having luxurious
hair. Although, those methods have been proven to work, there are many other less invasive methods
available for obtaining beautiful hair. The use of hair extensions have become a popular trend in
today's society. Many celebrities, TV personalities and even politicians have owned up to adding a
few hair extensions here and there. Hair extensions can be used to add length and volume to thin,
short and receding hair. However, finding a beautician to install them can be bit pricy for the
average individual. Being able to install them on your own can not ... Show more content on

The most common method of creating a base for a whole head weave is to braid the hair in cornrows
from the front to the back, while leaving out a small section at the top to cover the tracks. However,
this method can not be done for a partial hair weave. To complete a partial sew in you would need to
braid the area of hair that will hold the extensions in a side to side pattern.
Step 2 After the base has been made, you will need to sew the remaining ends of the cornrow on to
it. Start by threading the needle. You would do this by inserting the thread through the eye of the
needle. Once you have that completed fold the thread in two and measure out approximately 18
inches. At the end, tie the two pieces together in a knot.
Step 3
Fold the end of the braid on top of the cornrow and sew it down using a basic stitch method. Once
you have reached the end of the braid you should make a knot to keep it from coming undone.
Step 4
Open the pack of hair extensions and comb out any knots or tangles pay special attention to any
rubber bands or pins used to keep the hair together.
Step 5
Next you will have to locate the weft on the hair extension. The weft is the sturdy area at the top of
the extension. This is where the hair has been looped together with thread. It resembles a seam.
Step 6
Once the weft has been located, you will then need to lay the extension on top of the cornrow to
measure the length of the braid. Once the length

Literary Analysis Of ' The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall '...
Rachell Burns
English 1302 Section 155
October 26, 2015
Symbolism in Literature Writers often use a myriad of different literary techniques to express
different ideas to those who read their work. One of the most common tools authors utilize would be
the use of symbols to portray an abstract meaning different from the literal interpretation of the text.
This element of a story helps connect an object or idea with the greater meaning within a story
through literary analysis. This helps make the moral of the story more meaningful to the specific
reader. In "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall," "A Jury of Her Peers," and "A Very Old Man with
Enormous Wings," Katherine Porter, Susan Glaspell, and Gabriel Marquez use one or more
predominant symbols to enforce the integrity of the message they are trying to convey to their
readers. One example of strong symbolism is in "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall," by Katherine
Porter when the author uses the color blue as a way to connect the present with different phases in
the life of Granny Weatherall, the main character who comes to accept the inevitability of her own
death. The color is first used to describe the, "white stone–china jars with blue whirligigs and words
painted on them: coffee, tea, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, allspice," (Porter) in the neatly kept home of
her youth. The author seems to use the color to bring to life a part of Granny's life when she was
young, energetic, and kept a well–organized house. The next time the

Persuasive Essay On Plastic Bags
A pile of plastic bags sits on the floor from the last shopping trip. A trip that consisted of long lines
and other customers' screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags?
Maybe throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard–earned plastic bags if you
could do something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won't be
wasted. A rope can be used for many things including tug–of–war, tire swing, etc.
If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic
grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long
you want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need
some floor space.
Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags
and lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of
the handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more
difficult.
For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the
seam under the plastic bag's handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base
of the bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that
you have finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done,

Personal Narrative-Mamaw
After I get out of our small, black Nissan Versa, I grab my backpack from the trunk. I run inside to
avoid getting wet from the huge waterdrops falling freely from the sky. I open the door and go to the
dining room table of my grandparents house. I start on the division and multiplication problems my
teacher, Mrs. Cyphers has assigned us. As I am working, there is a sense of uncertainty in the air; a
pit in my stomach that makes me think something is really wrong. As I am working, my mom and
mamaw are in the kitchen, talking in a low voice. I began to get more worried by the second. What
could possibly be wrong? They have to tell me. My mom then came in with a concerned look on her
face. She says, "Lilly, I need to tell you something." My look ... Show more content on

How could this happen?" I asked frantically. I had just seen him a few days ago. "It was a heart
attack, sweetheart," she said, her voice cracking ever so slightly. "He passed peacefully in his sleep."
I sat there for a moment, unable to speak or think. How could this be happening? This has to be a
sick joke. I sit there and the more time that passes and the more tears begin to well up in my
mother's eyes, I know this is real. My sweet papaw has passed away. Moments pass and my head
begins to fill with a million different thoughts. What about my granny? What about us? How am I
going to face the rest of my family? I knew the next few days would be filled with tears, sadness,
and heartbreak. My mother looks at me asking, "Lilly, honey, are you okay?" Was she serious?
There was no way I could be okay. I began to get angry and more sad. "I'm fine," I said. Knowing
that I wasn't but didn't want my mother and mamaw see how heartbroken I was. My papaw came
into the room, understanding how sad I was. He handed me a snickers with was shaped like an egg;

Lab Report
One crucial step in the data acquisition procedure was to make sure that the wind speed and wind
direction were in accordance to the target ranges. This will be more tangible if it is pointed out that
time histories of pressure coefficient are directly dependent on the velocity measurements and
turbulence intensity at reference height in the lab. Therefore, wind speed measurement has to be
performed with high resolution devices that can catch little changes in wind characteristics; to do so,
in the current study Cobra probe technology was used. More details regarding the high tech
instruments that were used for experimental setup are presented as follows.
As shown in ‎

Two types of pressure scanners that are extremely compact were used: one from ZOC22b series, and
three from ZOC33 series [83]. The ZOC miniature electronic pressure scanning modules are
specifically designed for use in wind–tunnel tests and flight tests where operational conditions are
very space–constrained and pressures do not ex¬ceed 50 PSI (344738 Pa). The ZOC22b module
incorporates 32 individual silicon pressure sensors, calibration valving, a high speed multiplexer (45
kHz), and an instrumentation amplifier. An integral "duplexing" valve is optionally available to
allow the ZOC22's 32 sensors to service up to 128 input pressures. The ZOC22 module also
incorporates a calibration valve that allows the ZOC sensors to be automatically calibrated on–line
as well as purge the input lines of contaminants or condensation. Similarly, the ZOC33 is an
electronic pressure scanner which can accept up to 128 pneumatic inputs. Each ZOC33 module used
in the current study incorporates 64 individual piezoresistive pressure sensors. Each ZOC pressure
scanner incorporates an embedded RTD to monitor the temperature of the pressure sensors [83]. The
ZOC modules have been used in conjunction with RADBASE as shown in Figure 4.3 [83].
Typically, the RADBASE would be located inside a wind–tunnel model or other space limited
location in close proximity to the ZOC pressure scanners. For small models with low number of
pressure channel requirements, the RADBASE can be minimal size

Growing social awareness of the health and ecological concerns of some chemical pesticides has
stimulated a search for alternative methods of pest control [27]. [21]who found that leaf extracts of
Crotalaria virgulata subsp. grantina had a nemostatic effect on the J2 of M. incognita.
Several examples of naturally occurring compounds which suppressive Meloidogyne spp. have been
identified. These include a glycoside (asparagusic acid) isolated from Asparagus officinalis [12] and
two novel nematicidal compounds namely, nonacosane–10–ol and 23a–homostigmast–5–en–3b–ol
recently isolated from the roots of Fumaria parviflora Lam.[30]. The potential use of organic
amendments, plants extract and bio fertilizers is gaining considerable attention because of being
safe, cheap and ecofriendly[6,7,18,35]. The bioactivity of A. Mexicana and A. aspera against
nematodes may be attributed to the presence of the alkaloids in its leaves [26]. During the last
decade, research on nematode control was focused on proposing strategies for inhibition of egg
hatch [36], enhanced juvenile mortality [13]. The bioactivity of Peganum harmala against
nematodes may be attributed to the presence of the alkaloids in its leaves including β–carboline,
harmine, harmaline, harmalol, harman and quinazolines as vascine and vasicinone [26]. Some pairs
of terpenes have synergistic impact on M. incognita which cause paralysis and those pairs are trans–

Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots
l'Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my
favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the
knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical
study of knot theory. So my question now is, "How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced
and shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots?" Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as
tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are
joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be
described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3–D dimensional Euclidean
space but in a bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3–D space;
therefore making it 3–D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you
can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus
creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common method of
describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can
be drawn. A fundamental problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine
when a knot is represented by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to
help solve the problem, but

Descriptive Essay On Camp Enfer
I stared out the window of an old, run down cab. I let out a breathy sigh.
"Nervous kid?" the old cab driver asks.
I nod my head.
"I've been here before, it's just not my favorite place"
"You'll be fine, many kids come and go. They always seem to return with a bright smile on their
face."
He gives me a crooked grin, showing his yellow stained teeth. I chuckled.
"I'll take your word for it"
The rest of the ride was quiet with small talk here and there. I could have driven over here myself,
but I always get a bad feeling while driving. After about an hour drive we finally made it to our
destination, Camp Enfer. Camp Enfer was worn out beyond its years. Fortunately for the camp it
was placed in the middle of a beautiful landscape. It was surrounded by gigantic pine trees. It had
valleys that seem to go on forever. A lake that glistened in the sunshine. Hills that were greener than
a Granny Smith apple picked on a sunny spring day. As I stepped out of the cab I smelled the chilly
fresh air that surrounded me. I smiled, for it was the only thing I missed about this wretched place. I
helped Tim get my bags out of the trunk and I saw him speed away in his little yellow cab, wishing I
was anywhere, but here.
"Hey stranger, haven't seen you in awhile"
I looked over to see one of the only people I can actually tolerate in this damn place.
"Sebby!" I yelled.
He gave me a pointed a look. His real name is Sebastian, but I like to call him Sebby.

Learning And Teaching Process : My Partner Madelyn And I
Upon assignment of our Skill Teach project, my partner Madelyn and I, began discussing several
activities in which we could teach one another. This discussion lasted close to half an hour before
we determined a motor skill that I would be able to instruct Madelyn through. The final motor skill
we pin pointed was knot tying. This motor skill was something that I had experience with, and that
Madelyn was unknowledgeable but interested in learning. The following information, it a brief
overview of the learning and teaching process that occurred.
With a wide topic like knot tying, I soon found that I needed to narrow down what specific knots I
would teach Madelyn before beginning. After much debate, I concluded that the most useful knot
series to teach Madelyn at this time, would be a figure eight knot. From this I was able to create the
following teaching objective: The instructor will teach the student to independently tie three
versions of a figure eight knot; 1) basic figure eight knot, 2) figure eight knot on a bight, and 3)
figure eight follow through knot, within five lessons using a 48" length of 1/8th inch paracord. From
this objective, I was able to create the following learning objective for the student: The student will
be able to independently tie three versions of a figure eight knot; 1) basic figure eight knot, 2) figure
eight knot on a bight, 3) figure eight follow through, within five lessons using a 48" length of 1/8th

What Is A Treasure?
I went on my way, pondering those questions, as I read the next clue. It had a C on it and it read
"Search narrowly the lines! –– they hold a treasure," I thought about the word, treasure, my
valentine was a treasure to me but surely that wasn't it. At last, it came to me, the statue in town
square, it was said to be a treasure of the town, that was where the next clue was.
I took off again, hurtling myself towards the town square. When I finally made it there was a great
group of people milling about the square. Not a single one would pay me attention, I pushed my way
to the front of square, I had to get that clue before someone else picked it up. I finally reached it, the

"Slow down my boy," the tailor scolded.
"I'm sorry," I told him, "but love knows no speed and my valentine needs my speed right now."
"Ahh, it is you," he said "the one the inquisitors told me of. Here is your clue." He handed the clue
and I bid him farewell and headed back out into the night after my valentine. It had a large letter S,
the second word. All I could think of was holding my valentine and being close to her again. I
flipped it over scribbled on the back was the following, "The words –– the syllables! Do not forget,"
again the final words enticed my thoughts. Do not forget, do not forget, what could it mean?
I milled about the town pondering until I had made my way to the edge of town there I found my
answer, I found it as I came across the statue of Mnemosyne, goddess of memory, the words, do not
forget, inscripted on the bottom and beside the inscription was my next clue with a large A on it,
halfway my love, I thought, halfway. The back of the tiny piece of paper was the following, "The
trivialest point, or you may lose your labor!"
I immediately thought of the railroad, those jobs required much labor, I made my way to the very
edge of town where the building of the railroad had been and surely enough pinned between some
wood planks was my next clue which had a big R on it, and written on the back, hardly even legible
was "And yet there is in this no Gordian knot," the slanted words required much thought to
remember the legend of the Gordian knot.

Eastwood Summary

  • 1. Eastwood Summary Eastwood Summary Timeless appeal, retro settings, village appeal are all terms used to describe the charming Sydney suburb of Eastwood. It has it all without being hectic and noisy. There is a shopping centre and shopping plaza where locals go shopping for things they need and want. Whatever virtually any type of services you need, Eastwood has a local provider for it. Medical services abound and eateries are all over with a few different cuisines from which to choose. Working people of the suburb mostly drive to get back and forth to work, but the area is convenient to the train and bus transport systems. • 3. Lace Up Your Shoes Essay Quick! Look at your shoes. If your shoes have laces, they might be tied wrong. In fact, about 50% of Americans tie their shoes the wrong way, that is, they use the wrong knot when tying their shoes. If your laces come undone, or your bows are twisted, or you double knot your shoes to prevent them from coming untied, then chances are, you tie your shoes the wrong way. About two years ago I took up running. I loved my new sport and entered several running events and races mostly 5K's. Six months into my new hobby, I decided I was a "real runner" and because I was a "real runner," I needed to subscribe to a real running magazine. It's a well–known fact that every diehard runner has to subscribe to a running magazine of some sort. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First you were shown how to take one lace and pass it under the other." After reading this, it dawned on me that most of us were taught how to tie our shoes when we were four or five years old. Our parents or siblings taught us, but didn't necessarily teach us to do it right. If you tie your shoes wrong, don't worry. It only takes a minor tweak to tie the right knot – a "Reef Knot." All shoelace knots start the same; laces crossed over–under, and then finish with a bow. However, if you finish the bow in the same direction that you crossed the laces, you will end up with a "Granny Knot." A Granny Knot has an unbalanced bow, e.g., the bow is turned at 45 to 90 degrees and sometimes it's perfectly inline with the shoe (see illustration below). Granny Knots usually come untied. People that tie granny knots, "granny knotters" are the people you see in line at the grocery store tying their shoes. They are the people whose shoes come untied at the most inopportune time, like the base runner rounding third base heading for home plate in the World Series, or the marathon runner who has to stop to tie his shoes in the middle of the race. Granny knotters tie double knots to prevent their shoes from coming untied. This works until its time to untie the knot, and we all know how hard it can be to untie a double knot, especially with cold hands. The other 50% are the people who tie their shoes the right way using a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Susan Glaspell's Play, Trifles What are trifles? In Susan Glaspell's play, Trifles, we look at a murder case that happens in an isolated farmhouse. Mr. Wright has been murdered while he was asleep. Someone has a strung a rope around his neck. That someone is Mrs. Wright. Trifles illustrates that men have substantially more power than women. They first start by going in to the kitchen. Everyone observes the kitchen to see that it is a mess. The men leaves the room. The ladies wonder about the kitchen. Mrs. Wright requested that the ladies bring her an apron to her. After finding the apron they both wonder around the kitchen to find that the table was half cleaned. "Mrs. Hale [Who is standing by the table.] Well, I don't see any signs of anger around here. [She puts her hand on the dish towel which lies on the table, stands looking down at table, one half of which is clean, the other half messy.] It's wiped to here." (line 68) Mrs. Hale says that there is no sign of anger but that clearly is the case. A normal person won't just clean half the table and leave the other half of uncleaned. There had a to be a reason for this. Even though Mrs. Hale doesn't realize it, she was on to something. Mrs. Wright was mad at Mr. Wright so she didn't clean his side of the table. The ladies find that Mrs. Wright had a quilt. "Mrs. Hale It's log–cabin pattern. Pretty, isn't it? I wonder if she was goin' to quilt it or just knot it?" (line 72) Mrs. Wright could have quilted it or knotted it. She ended up knotting it. Ms. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. A Short Story : A Story? *Slam*. The door shuts. The room was silent, you could hear a pin drop. Leah left and I heard the car start up. We've never gotten in a fight like this. Tears started streaming down my face. The tears started streaming down my face harder and harder by the second. AGHHHHH I screamed. I slowly got up from the table the chair squeaking making the same sound it made when Leah left. How about your dad... oh yeah he's dead. Your mom will be soon. I saw a dark figure walking toward me then a face appeared in the small amount of light.... It was Leah. I said "Leah?!?!? Is that you? Did that person kidnap you? Are you okay? Are you hurt?" My mind spinning 100 miles an hour. Would Leah really do this? Why me? Leah said "you hurt me. This was my only choice. Mom killed dad... all because of you." I could see flames in her eyes. They were burning bright... as if the fire was just started. I could tell it was only going to get bigger. I didn't mean to. It wasn't my fault. I heard mumbling from the corner. I turned my head slowly but still looking at Leah. It was someone from Leah's school. She goes to a public school so it wasn't ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Descriptive Essay On Apple Picking Apple Picking Today was going exceptionally well for me. My mom said we were going apple picking. We get there and play for a while. After a while we decide to go on the tractor. We hop onto the back of the wagon and go riding on the short trail. When we arrive, I see rows and rows of trees with apples hanging off of the hands of their arms. "It's time to go apple picking!" I think to myself excitedly. Everyone grabs their own little baggies and are told we can only pick four–five apples otherwise we'd have hundreds of apples when we finish. I follow my mom through the rows of trees labeled Granny Smith Apples. It doesn't take me long to find some juicy looking apples. Once I finish picking my apples, I lay them next to my mom and go find my cousins Abby and Mia to play with. We run through the series of trees until we tire ourselves out. After a while we head back to where all of our aunts are. "Let's get some family pictures." says my aunt Naomi. We all gather around and take one big family picture and then separate pictures. "Let's get a picture with all three of you girls biting into the same apple." exclaims our mothers. We go pick a few large sized apples and return in about thirty seconds. My aunts position us while my mom gets the camera ready. I decide to take the first bite out of the apple. When Abby takes the next bite, we see that there's no room for me. We discard the apple by giving it to my mom to eat. We grab a new apple but I let Abby take the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Fishing For Shad Research Paper WILLIE For some unexplained reason, on our way back to the cabin after a successful couple of hours on the lake, my thoughts drifted back to my childhood again. This time I was fishing for American Shad from the shore of the Hudson River at Crawbucky Beach. Shad is a salt water fish from the Atlantic Ocean. They are a silver scaled fish with black spots on its back and adult shad often reach the weight of 4 or 5 pounds. Each spring the shad return to the Hudson River to spawn in their ancient hatcheries. The Sint Sinc Indians were a tribe of Native Americans who lived in the area of Ossining prior to the arrival of the Dutch colonists. Each spring, the blooming of a local bush plant named Amelanchier would signal the arrival of the shad. In turn, the natives would ready themselves by building large fishing baskets to use as nets to trap the once abundant shad. For centuries, there were two reasons why fishing for shad was popular. Of course, the most important reason being is to feed one's family. The Sint Sinc would net as many shad as they could then dry them in the fresh spring air. After the moisture evaporates from the fish, the natives would preserve the shad by salting. If the tribe was lucky, the stockpile of fish would last then until the next spawning season. The other reason why shad were so important to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 13. A Worn Path Eudora Welty Analysis Reading Journal 1. A Worn Path – Eudora Welty I found this story to be sad. I know that during the 1940s and 1950s there were a lot of race and racism especially in Mississippi. Phoenix's journey into town show how Southern whites were in this era. A white hunter helps her out of the ditch but patronizes her and dismiss her journey "I know you old colored people! Wouldn't miss going to town to see Santa Claus!" This white hunter also taunts her by pointing his loaded gun at her and asking "Doesn't the gun scare you?" Phoenix remains calm and steady causing the hunter to exclaim "Well, Granny you must be a hundred years old, and scared of nothing," Honestly, there is still race and racism going on today. The Road Not Taken & Out, Out – Robert Frost The speaker comes to a fork in the road and must decide which path to follow. Three of the five lines begin with the word and. The yellow leaves suggest that it is autumn and that this wooded area may have alder and birch wood trees instead of maple trees. There is another way to look at the bright yellow leaves, one season will soon give way to another one. That this single decision can transform a life. The speaker calls the road he chose "less traveled" and it does initially strike him as slightly grassier, slightly less trafficked. As soon as he made his choice, he doubles back, erasing the distinction even as he makes it "through as for that the passing there, had worn them really about the same." Frost then reiterates that the two roads are comparable, observing that this time the roads are equally untraveled covered in newly fallen yellow leaves. Out, Out is about a young man is cutting firewood with a buzz saw in New England. Near the end of the day, the boy sister announces that it is time for dinner, and out of excitement, the boy accidently cuts his hand with the saw. As a beginner, using looms is the easiest way to work with yarn projects. There are a bunch of types of looms that can be used to make hats, scarves, ear warms, bag, etc. A bunch of projects can be done on a loom without having any experience in knitting or crochet. Push the hook under the two bottom strands of the yarn and pull it up over the top strands of the yarn. The groove in the beg is very helpful for this process. Now loop the bottom yarn over all around the loom. To continue knitting, wrap around all the pegs again from the begging on the beg right above the anchor peg and then bring the bottom yarn loop over the top of the peg again. Once there is about an inch or two of stitches done, take the yarn of the anchor peg so that it is not pulling as the project is continued. About fifteen rows need to be knitted to continue to the next step. Step 5: Knitting the brim After knitting a few rows, fold them over so there is a doubled over bit of knitting. This makes the hat look more finished and also helps keep the hat in place on the head. To knit the brim, bring up the tail from the initial part of the hat and loop it around to the right of the anchor peg. Put the loops all the way around the loom then finish the brim by using the hook to loop the pull the bottom yarn loops over the top loops. However, when I talk about rodeos I actually mean Lineman Rodeos. Some people have asked me if it has something to do with lineman that play football. Then I have to explain to them that a Lineman is a person that works on the power lines, the overhead or underground lines that supply electricity to homes and businesses then most people understand what kind of Lineman I am. My first event of the morning was the hurt–man rescue. For this event, the time starts when I first touch my climbing gear and time ends when the 185 lbs. manikin touches the ground. The time limit for this event was four minutes which I completed it in one minute and ten seconds with no deductions for safety violations. After the completion of my first event I was feeling good about the day. From there, my second and third events went really well, good times with no deductions. My fourth event was a knot tying event. I did exceptionally well in that event, beating my other competitors by two minutes or so. My last event was a streetlight and photo–cell change–out. I was a little nervous and the pressure was on because I knew that I had done good all day and had a good possibility to place in the competition and get on stage for a trophy; which would be an amazing experience for my last rodeo as an apprentice. Plants can be a great source of all of these, but it is important to know which plants or plant parts are edible. Believe it or not, thistles are edible, and easy to identify. Fill up half the bag with pellets then squeeze the bag and knock it gently on a side of a bucket so the pellets get into every little gap. Now add the lead into the bag and lightly fill the bag a little more pellets up to ¾ full but make sure you don't fill it up to much. Twist the bag and knock it again to make it solid then lick the twisted area. If you're casting the bag at a long distance you can make it even more aerodynamic by folding back the corners and securing them with a little saliva. In the film Stranger than Fiction written by Zach Helm, turning points are used this way through Harold Crick. Harold's realization of being powerless to avoid his fateful death provides a turning point that induces Harold's transformation into a more emotional and passionate individual who lives every minute of his life to the fullest. The turning point is when Harold realizes he cannot avoid his fateful death after his apartment is being unexpectedly demolished by a crane when he is staying home to control his destiny. Realizing his imminent death forces Harold to live life. Not until this point Harold starts his journey of transforming into a new person who enjoys life with a good attitude. First, Harold starts to live life with passion and a dream when he starts off his transformation with purchasing a guitar to fulfill his life dream of playing one. When he is at the music store to buy guitars, instead of picking the attractive and high–quality guitars, he chooses a mal–treated Fender electric guitar. Harold wants a guitar that said something about him, and this guitar certainly does what he wants. This guitar is similar in one way than Harold that it is once mistreated. The guitar is abused by its previous owner, just as Harold once has been overly harsh on himself. Harold's buying the guitar shows that he desires to start treating the damaged guitar well. But more importantly, he wants to start enjoying his life by realizing his desire of playing the guitar rather than by compulsively measuring and rationalizing every single detail of his life. By playing the guitar, he resuscitates his life with passion, and the desire to pursue dreams. Harold starts pursuing Ana using irrational methods after adding passion and desire to pursue ambitions in his life. One day, he gets up in the middle of the night and goes all the way to Ana's bakery to give Ana flours when she heads home from her bakery. Were Harold to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Advertisement An old saying that comes into play when just glancing at this advertisement, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." is an old saying pediatricians would say to their miniature patients. Who would know this could grab attention of people just watching TV? "An Apple a Day" illustrates four Granny Smith apples on one side of the ad while a slice of a Granny Smith apple sits on the other side of the ad. The product the advertiser is selling has more to offer than the other companies which, is shown by the whole apples and the slice of an apple. The small description underneath the Granny Smith apples has a formal, yet demanding tone that provides information about the product. In the fine print, it has some details on how their company is "one of the best. "Then below the small caption is a large, bold black logo followed by the contact information of the company all directed towards drivers. "An Apple a Day" is trying to connect with middle–class drivers looking for better quality insurance for an inexpensive price. The "An Apple a Day" advertisement is appealing to audience's ethos of the product. According to Quick Access: Reference for Writers, ethos is "confidence in the writer's reliability and trustworthiness." (Troyka and Hesse 19). In other words, ethos is credibility or trust. • 35. The Magdalen With The Smoking Flame Summary The Magdalen with the Smoking Flame is a work of art done by Georges De La Tour. It was completed in the year 1640 using oil paint on canvas in France, and it is now located at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This painting is of a woman, possibly pregnant, sitting leaning on a table her head rested on one hand. She also has a skull on her lap and the other hand placed on it. In the back ground there is a small stack of books and candlelight. More than anything on this painting, it is focused on the woman state of mind and heart rather than the skull or anything else. The simple arrangement of how the artist used vertical and horizontal shapes draws the viewer really close into the Magdalen's thoughts. The skull and the books purpose is to set the mood in what the woman might be feeling. The focal point of the entire painting seems to be the candle because not only is it bright, but the woman is gazing profoundly into it. Everything in the painting is smoothed surface. The painter did not use texture in the paint but only in very few areas like in the oil of the candle. The tones in this painting are warm. There are a lot of browns and ambers. A few cool colors were used to define the shadows of the shapes with blue. The attention getter is the candle light. It's almost hard to ignore because it is so bright. The second brightest thing in the painting is the woman's shirt, but even that is not as bright because of all the shadows and creases in it. Another reason why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Use one of your special knots." Lief handled Rayne like a ragdoll. Rayne tried to awaken the recessive power that he had uncontrollably unleashed on Fervan–a power he never knew that he had. He assumed it was a manifestation of his emotion. So he gripped the fisherman's wrist and thought about inflicting the same burn to him. But Lief just pulled his arm away. Back in the street Rayne had been angry when Fervan insulted him. Now, he was scared. And his power couldn't manifest. Nothing happened. Lief threw him against the post and pulled his ... Lief jumped away just in time for the coursing flaming to miss his pants. Rayne hurled his face away from the rising fire, the heat scorching every crevice of his body, engulfing him. He shook and screamed, hoping for someone to stop the pain. The first face that he imagined was Montague's. "Monte!" he screamed. * * * Within seconds, only silence remained. The fire eventually surrendered to the angry sky's pouring rain. Smoke rose into the east wind. Within the heavy fog, the burned–black pole remained lodged upright in the rocks. But there was no sign of a body. "No," Lief said. He stepped closer to the post, "No, No, No. This can't be possible. I...I tied him tight. I saw him burning. He couldn't have loosened that knot!" The fisherman was frantic. When Lief was a boy his father would take bets at the docks for coin, challenging any man to undo a 'fisherman's knot'. To this day no one had ever done so. Losing her was like a tsunami and learning to swim was like moving a mountain, but inch by inch, my mountain of grief moved on. On a fateful November day, my aunt called my mother. This was usual, so I thought nothing of it until she hung up. When I saw the shock on my mother's face I knew right away that something was wrong, but it wasn't until my older sister asked that we knew the devastating news. My grandmother needed surgery, but not something minor, she needed heart surgery and my mother wanted to be with her during her time in the hospital. My siblings and I begged our mother to let us come with her, but she said no, when my mother made up her mind that was that and there was no way around it. The day my mother left for the hospital, we all gave her a kiss and a hug and told her to tell Granny we loved her, my mother smiled at this and promised to tell her, but she didn't know at that time what would happen not even four days later. My mother returned three days later with a poker face even my father couldn't read and she sat the whole family down in the living room, as she breathed in a deep breath my stomach churned uneasily. The most common method of creating a base for a whole head weave is to braid the hair in cornrows from the front to the back, while leaving out a small section at the top to cover the tracks. However, this method can not be done for a partial hair weave. To complete a partial sew in you would need to braid the area of hair that will hold the extensions in a side to side pattern. Step 2 After the base has been made, you will need to sew the remaining ends of the cornrow on to it. Start by threading the needle. You would do this by inserting the thread through the eye of the needle. Once you have that completed fold the thread in two and measure out approximately 18 inches. At the end, tie the two pieces together in a knot. Step 3 Fold the end of the braid on top of the cornrow and sew it down using a basic stitch method. Once you have reached the end of the braid you should make a knot to keep it from coming undone. Step 4 Open the pack of hair extensions and comb out any knots or tangles pay special attention to any rubber bands or pins used to keep the hair together. Step 5 Next you will have to locate the weft on the hair extension. The weft is the sturdy area at the top of the extension. This is where the hair has been looped together with thread. It resembles a seam. Step 6 Once the weft has been located, you will then need to lay the extension on top of the cornrow to measure the length of the braid. Once the length

  • 44. Literary Analysis Of ' The Jilting Of Granny Weatherall '... Rachell Burns English 1302 Section 155 October 26, 2015 Symbolism in Literature Writers often use a myriad of different literary techniques to express different ideas to those who read their work. One of the most common tools authors utilize would be the use of symbols to portray an abstract meaning different from the literal interpretation of the text. This element of a story helps connect an object or idea with the greater meaning within a story through literary analysis. This helps make the moral of the story more meaningful to the specific reader. In "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall," "A Jury of Her Peers," and "A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings," Katherine Porter, Susan Glaspell, and Gabriel Marquez use one or more predominant symbols to enforce the integrity of the message they are trying to convey to their readers. One example of strong symbolism is in "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall," by Katherine Porter when the author uses the color blue as a way to connect the present with different phases in the life of Granny Weatherall, the main character who comes to accept the inevitability of her own death. The color is first used to describe the, "white stone–china jars with blue whirligigs and words painted on them: coffee, tea, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, allspice," (Porter) in the neatly kept home of her youth. The author seems to use the color to bring to life a part of Granny's life when she was young, energetic, and kept a well–organized house. The next time the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Persuasive Essay On Plastic Bags A pile of plastic bags sits on the floor from the last shopping trip. A trip that consisted of long lines and other customers' screaming children that needed their nap. What do you do with the bags? Maybe throwing them away would be easy, but why waste those hard–earned plastic bags if you could do something with them? If you make your monstrous pile of bags into a rope, they won't be wasted. A rope can be used for many things including tug–of–war, tire swing, etc. If you want to start a project, it would be good to have the materials. You will need heaps of plastic grocery bags in order to make a rope from them. The exact number of bags depends on how long you want your rope to be. You will also need scissors. When you start the project, you will need some floor space. Now that you have all of your materials, you can start preparing to make the rope. Take nine bags and lay them on the floor next to you. Now pick up one bag. There should be a seam under each of the handles of the bag. Find both seams. If there are no seams, then the next part will be a little more difficult. For this part, you can either use your hands or pick up your scissors. Rip or cut at the top of the seam under the plastic bag's handles and continue down to the base of the bag. Do NOT cut the base of the bag. Cutting it will weaken your rope and make it harder to work with the plastic. Now that you have finished one side of the bag, do the same for the other side of the bag. Once this is done, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This will be more tangible if it is pointed out that time histories of pressure coefficient are directly dependent on the velocity measurements and turbulence intensity at reference height in the lab. Therefore, wind speed measurement has to be performed with high resolution devices that can catch little changes in wind characteristics; to do so, in the current study Cobra probe technology was used. Two types of pressure scanners that are extremely compact were used: one from ZOC22b series, and three from ZOC33 series [83]. The ZOC miniature electronic pressure scanning modules are specifically designed for use in wind–tunnel tests and flight tests where operational conditions are very space–constrained and pressures do not ex¬ceed 50 PSI (344738 Pa). The ZOC22b module incorporates 32 individual silicon pressure sensors, calibration valving, a high speed multiplexer (45 kHz), and an instrumentation amplifier. An integral "duplexing" valve is optionally available to allow the ZOC22's 32 sensors to service up to 128 input pressures. The ZOC22 module also incorporates a calibration valve that allows the ZOC sensors to be automatically calibrated on–line as well as purge the input lines of contaminants or condensation. Similarly, the ZOC33 is an electronic pressure scanner which can accept up to 128 pneumatic inputs. Each ZOC33 module used in the current study incorporates 64 individual piezoresistive pressure sensors. Each ZOC pressure scanner incorporates an embedded RTD to monitor the temperature of the pressure sensors [83]. The ZOC modules have been used in conjunction with RADBASE as shown in Figure 4.3 [83]. • 56. Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots l'Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of knot theory. So my question now is, "How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced and shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots?" Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3–D dimensional Euclidean space but in a bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3–D space; therefore making it 3–D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. A fundamental problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine when a knot is represented by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to help solve the problem, but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Learning And Teaching Process : My Partner Madelyn And I Upon assignment of our Skill Teach project, my partner Madelyn and I, began discussing several activities in which we could teach one another. This discussion lasted close to half an hour before we determined a motor skill that I would be able to instruct Madelyn through. The final motor skill we pin pointed was knot tying. This motor skill was something that I had experience with, and that Madelyn was unknowledgeable but interested in learning. The following information, it a brief overview of the learning and teaching process that occurred. With a wide topic like knot tying, I soon found that I needed to narrow down what specific knots I would teach Madelyn before beginning. After much debate, I concluded that the most useful knot series to teach Madelyn at this time, would be a figure eight knot. From this I was able to create the following teaching objective: The instructor will teach the student to independently tie three versions of a figure eight knot; 1) basic figure eight knot, 2) figure eight knot on a bight, and 3) figure eight follow through knot, within five lessons using a 48" length of 1/8th inch paracord.
