Religious Homosexual Oppression
Oppression based on race, sex and sexual orientation:
Over the past 150 years, there have been many groups who have sought the North American dream of "liberty and justice for all." Examples are:
В•Americans African seeking an end to slavery.
В•Women campaigning to get universal suffrage.
В•And now, gays and lesbians are seeking the same equal rights and protections enjoyed by other groups, including the right to marry.
This final conflict over homosexuality is a little different from the two conflicts based on race and gender. Being an African–American or a woman was
never considered a crime. But being a sexually active person with a homosexual orientation was, theoretically, a crime in 13 states until the middle of
2003. Being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1 They give far less emphasis to the findings of researchers. In this case, the findings of researchers are generally rejected because they conflict with
their interpretation of the Bible. Relying on their interpretation of the Bible can be disastrous. Consider the debate over slavery in the mid 19th century.
In those days, some denominations enthusiastically quoted biblical passages to support the owning of human slaves as pieces of property.
Liberals give far greater weight to the findings of scientific research, and are willing to abandon the traditional interpretation of biblical passages in
favor of new analyses which harmonize the Bible and scientific discoveries. This also can be disastrous from time to time. Although science is
inherently self correcting, sometimes scientists develop theories which deviate wildly from reality, are inaccurate, and cause harm. Always remember
that one of the recipients of the Nobel Prize for medicine was the physician who developed frontal lobotomies.
Typical conservative Protestant beliefs about homosexuality:
Conservative Christians generally believe that the Bible authors were inspired by God to write text that is inerrant –– free of error. They often quote
the Bible's seven passages –– often called "clobber passages" which have traditionally been used to condemn homosexuality. They have generally
concluded that the Bible clearly and consistently condemns

Baha I Faith Research Paper
While the Baha'i faith may not be considered one of the top five global religions, it is quickly becoming significantly popular within the United States
and around the globe as well. The Baha'i faith originated in northern Iran and quickly spread from there. The Baha'i faith is different from most
religions due to the fact that you are not simply born into the religion. Instead, every individual has the choice of whether or not they want to practice
the religion. The idea of choosing to be a member of the Baha'i faith is influenced by their core belief that religion is a spiritual journey and every
individual must find their own truth. The faith encourages every member to determine for themselves what they believe to be true in regard to religion.

In addition, like the Christian faith, the "Most Holy Book" is a large part of the Baha'is everyday life and their religious practices. Both the Bible and
the Kitab–i–Aqdas were compiled form beliefs and teachings of the prophets. Neither of the holy texts were written by the prophets of the religion, but
they are important to fully understand the histories of the religions. Within the Kitab–i–Aqdas, Baha'u'llah details the importance of equality for both
genders. This is similar to the Christian faith because both the Kitab–i–Aqdas as well as the Bible explicitly teach the importance of men and women
being equal. Despite the teachings within the Bible, gender equality is not always seen within the Christian faith, whereas the Baha'i faith places an
intense focus on the equality. Baha'is believe that equality for men and women should be in every aspect, for example spiritually, educationally and
culturally. The idea of gender equality is deeply rooted in the idea of the oneness of humankind. The Baha'i theme of unity spans from gender, to
race, to religion. In addition to the idea of gender equality, the "Most Holy Book" describes the methods of obtaining an altered state of consciousness
that a member of the Baha'i faith can utilize. Members of the Baha'i faith are prohibited from consuming alcohol or taking any drugs. Instead, Baha'is
generally use prayer in order to enter an altered state of consciousness. The Bab supported the use of meditation and prayer in order to be put into an
altered state of consciousness and condemned any other method of obtaining an altered state of consciousness. This is similar to Christianity because the
Bible details certain actions that Christians cannot participate

Baha I Religion
The Baha'i religion originated in Iran in the 1863 by Baha'u'llah, who is also known as Mirza Hoseyn 'Ali Nuri, or in Arabic "Glory of God". The
Baha'i faith does not believe their religion is new. It's principle belief is that it combines all religions and humanity. ("Beliefs of the Baha'i Faith") The
Baha'i religion has spread to be the second most widespread religion in the world. The contents of this paper will include the origin and basic beliefs
of the Baha'i Faith.
Baha'i faith is similar to Islam. "Sins" are simply forgiven because one cannot have a relationship with God. They teach that balancing good and bad
manifestations help them grow spiritually. Man must control the circumstances in life. ("What is Baha'i Faith?") In the Baha'i faith their salvation is
either through man's faith in God or there is no eternal salvation. Their faith embraces that God is all knowing and all powerful. Prayer, meditation, and
studying sacred writings help followers understand God. (White) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

believe that there is only one God and he is "unknowable" meaning they only know that they know about God is that he exists. Baha'i teach that
Jesus is a reflection of God because God cannot be reborn into men. They also believe at death, your soul is released from your body while the rest of
your body is to decompose. ("Baha'i Religious

I attend many feasts and holydays, which are occasions for social interaction, and strengthening our bond as a community. Once a year for 19 days
we as baha'is fast, and the fast is a time for reflecting on one's spiritual progress and making an effort to detach from material desires. When the fast is
over we have a celebration called Naw–Ruz, where we feast on a variety of food, and exchange gifts. When a baha'i youth turns fifteen he has to say
say his three obligatory prayers. The first one is called the short obligatory prayer and it can be said between noon and sunset, the second is the
medium obligatory prayer, which must be said three times a day once between sunrise and noon, once between noon and sunset, and once after sunset

Taking a Look at Baha'i Faith
The quest for salvation is emphasized in many religions because of the dichotomy that exists in their eschatology. Eschatology is the study of the end
of time in this earthly world. In many religions such as Zoroastrianism, Abrahamic Religions, and Buddhism, when a human passes from this world he
is either judged deserving of God's salvation or punished for not being virtuous. There is no gray area. By studying a religion's unique "soteriology", its
beliefs about how humans can achieve salvation, individuals can gain insight into a religion's core beliefs. There exist significant differences in
soteriology from religion to religion and as the world has slowly changed, new religions have emerged with radically different views on eschatology
and soteriology. The Baha'i Faith, a New Religious Movement (NRM), emerged in the mid–nineteenth century and was influenced by Zoroastrianism,
Abrahamic religions, and Buddhism. The Baha'i faith grew because of its distinct soteriology and purposely–vague eschatological beliefs. Despite the
Baha'i Faith's differences in eschatological and soteriological thought from Zoroastrianism, Abrahamic religions, and Buddhism, the Baha'i Faith's
emphasis on individual and group salvation in this world, and not the afterlife, allowed it to emerge and grow as a New Religious Movement. The
Baha'i Faith is a NRM that began in the mid–nineteenth century by Baha'u'llah out of the Islamic tradition. Baha'u'llah, a Persian nobleman,

Similarities Between Deucalion And Lycaon
In a Greek version Deucalion is warned of the flood. He builds an ark and stuffs it with creatures. Deucalion also sends a pigeon to search for land,
and the bird returns with an olive branch. When he completes the voyage he gives thanks, and takes advice from the gods on how to repopulate the
Earth. In a more colorful version, Zeus was angered by the extreme pride of the "Pelasgians", the indigenous inhabitants of the Aegean Sea region, so
he decided to punish them. Lycaon was the king of Arcadia, which was a part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It was an unspoiled, harmonious
wilderness, thought to be the home of Pan. To punish Zeus for his oppression, Lycaon offered a blood sacrifice. Arcas, a son of Zeus, was placed upon

They chastised and rebuked Salih, whom they had once adored. The poor and needy of the community became His only believers. This caused the
others to mock His efforts even more. Salih asked that the rich stop oppressing the poor, and adopt a more virtuous behavior. A few more people
accepted His words. Not surprisingly, most of them refused to heed His warning, and instead began to harass Him to cause a miracle as proof of
the Power of God. Salih kept telling them to look around and remember the numerous miracles God had already bestowed upon them. He reminded
His people of the countless castles and palaces they had built, and of their rich farm fields, and technical superiority. He also reminded them of the
fate of the 'Ad, and how they were destroyed for their similar, unrepentant sins. "Produce a camel from the rocks", they shouted. Still, He exhorted
them to worship One God, and be thankful to the One from whom all blessings flow. There was still time to turn from idolatry to monotheism. Even a
few of His believers turned away, because most people wanted proof that God was all –

Essay on Bahai Faith
Bahai Faith
The BahГЎ'Г Faith proclaims itself to be the youngest of the independent world religions. Its roots stem from Iran during the mid–nineteenth century.
This new faith is primarily based on the founder, BahГЎ'u'llГЎh, meaning 'the Glory of God'. BahГЎ'Гs (the believers) in many places around the
world have been heavily persecuted for their beliefs and differences and have been branded by many as a cult, a reform movement and/or a sect of the
Muslim religion. The BahГЎ'Г Faith is unique in that it accepts the teachings of what they believe to be all the divine messengers, these are Abraham,
Moses, Zoroaster, the Buddha, Jesus and Muhammad. The faith believes each messenger is equally authentic of the one living God. This is... Show

The new believers religious ideas were based on the Qur'ГЎn, and believed that within the Qur'ГЎn, that the prophecies of it were being fulfilled.
Initially Islamic clergy saw the followers as "Muslim Heretics". And from these "Heretics", the first phase of the Faith was laid down; it was to
become known as the BГЎbГ Faith. The progenitors of the Faith were direct descendants of the Imams (Shiah chosen leaders). Tension grew between
the Sunni and Shiah sects due to differences in belief of what leadership should prevail and rule after Muhammad's death. The first Sunni dynasty
gained power twenty–nine years after Muhammad's death, and at once began putting the Imams to death, these descendents of Muhammad believed
that it was them who should continue with Muhammad's teachings and assume the leadership of the people. With the persecution of the Imams, Shiah
tradition says a young child, known as the twelfth Imam, was concealed to avoid execution. He was then to be known as the 'Hidden Imam'. For a
period of sixty–nine years following his disappearance, the Hidden Imam was said to have communicated secretly with his followers through
arbitrators, who took the title of bГЎbs (gate). With the passing of the bГЎbs, the title was passed on to a newly appointed one. The fourth and last
bГЎb refused or was unable to appoint a new successor and it was therefore implied that the matter to be left in the hands of God. On May 23, 1844

Baha I Faith In Religion
The religion Baha'ism was founded by BahГЎ'u'llГЎh in 1863. This religion began in Iran and now has approximately five million followers from
around the world. The basic premise of the Baha'i Faith is that all the religions of the world come from the same source and have value. The reason
the Baha'i Faith has grown to become a relatively large religion is most likely due to the central teaching that all people are created equal regardless of
race or ethnicity. This belief will likely make the Baha'i Faith more relevant and will allow it to continue to grow.
Sikhism is a religion practiced primarily in India and is one of the largest religions in the world in terms of followers. Sikhism is a relatively young
religion founded in the 15th century.

Discrimination In America Essay
Today's population of American is made up of people who came from variety of countries with a very different economic, religious and social
backgrounds. We are all have right to privately practice our own religions or not practice at all. Racism and religion are issues that were brought to
our society not long time ago. On the example of story of "America can't breathe" by Luiza Ch. Savage and "Islamophobia" by Laila Lalami we can
clearly see that discrimination exists and it makes America unhealthy. What events and issues formed the basis that racism and discrimination are the
pressing problems in nowadays? "Islamophobia is an unfounded fear of the Islamic faith and, while it has existed for thousands of years, has recently
become a major problem in our society". 'Muslims live in fear that they will be attacked. Americans live in fear that Muslims will attack them.' said
Aleena Khan a Maryland teenager in her letter to Barak Obama. People are always afraid of something that is unknown. What is this Islamophobia?
Does Islamophobia exist? "Islam" and "Phobia" – people are afraid of Islam. Why? The main cause is misinformation or disinformation. On the other
side of discrimination problem is racism. Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and even Trevon Martin are names that most people in America know very
well. The deaths of these men were all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Judaism And Judaism
Judaism and Baha'i In the World
The religions Baha'i and Judaism have many things in common but are also very different in many different aspects. Both religions are large and
practiced in many places around the world by many people. These two can be compared with the multiple ways that their people have been viciously
murdered. Even though Judaism is one of the oldest religions, Baha'i is much more of a prevalent religion and, perhaps more modern of the two.
Despite their many similarities, abundant differences can be found if one looks carefully enough. Baha'i is a unique religion and it is very
accepting to everyone and many different ideas. In the religion, it is believed that everyone is equal; all humans are the same in every way and
gender, race, etc does not matter and everyone should just spread the word of God. Baha'i accepts most religions as true; it accepts the missions of
Abraham, Moses, Buddha, and Jesus, they believe that these people were key parts of the revelation of God. The revelation of God in this religion is
one of the things that is different about this religion; they believe that God is too great to understand, God does not have a gender, they only way that
he can begin to be understood is through the teaching of his messengers because God cannot become an incarnation of a human. This religion began
when a young man in Iran named, Ali Muhammad Shirazi said that he was the inspired interpreter of the Qur'an; he then changed his name Bab, which

According to beliefs of the Baha'i faith, the most one can know about God is that God exists, so when we try to describe God, such qualities are just
analogies that are the best the human mind can understand of God. Since the Baha'i faith recognizes that different religions have different names for
the same one God, the Baha'i faith accepts all these faith traditions as valid. Abdu'l–BahГЎ put it like this: "The differences among the religions of the
world are due to the varying types of minds" (Introduction to BahГЎ'Г Beliefs and God). A Baha'i believes that views of God might vary slightly across
religions because the views are formed from the cultures and different time periods. Nonetheless, no idea of God by humans encapsulates the true
qualities of God. God Himself if believed to be omnipotent, perfect, and have complete knowledge of life. In addition, followers of the Baha'i faith also
believe that God cannot become incarnate in a human being, this is one difference compared to other monotheistic traditions. Lastly, God is not
believed to have a gender, even though masculine pronouns are often used in Baha'i writings. (Introduction to BahГЎ'Г Beliefs and

thought and many others such as the history, beliefs, and traditions. History The followers of Baha'is emerged from Iranians who had formerly been
Shi'i Muslims (Smith, 1999). According to Breuilly, O'Brien, & Palmer (1997), the Baha'i faith began to take shape when Mirza Husayn Ali, born in

Ten Years War In Cuba
The history of Cuba began with the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492 and the invasion of the island by the Spaniards. The Guanahatabey,
Ciboney, and TaГno inhabited the island but were soon eliminated or died as a result of diseases or the shock of conquest. The impact of indigenous
groups on subsequent Cuban society was limited, and Spanish culture, institutions, language, and religion prevailed. Colonial society developed slowly
after Spain colonized the island in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Pastoral pursuits and agriculture served as the basis of the economy. For the
first three centuries after the conquest, the island remained a neglected stopping point for the Spanish fleet, which visited the New World and returned to

Comparing Islam And Baha ' I And Islam
It's incredible how two religions can be so different yet so similar. Whether it be the various branches of Christianity, the Chinese religions, or even
Judaism and Islam, they have so much in common when you work down to the roots of the religions. For starters, I will be comparing Islam and
Baha'i. Part of the reason that Baha'i and Islam are so similar is because Baha'i gets its start from some of the base beliefs of Islam. Some of the
similarities between the two are the fact that both have obligatory prayers. With Islam, a believer would pray five times a day. They pray at daybreak,
noon, mid–afternoon, sunset, and evening. When Muslims do their prayers, there are specific movements and gestures involved. Also they must face

The Islamic faith has taken a firm stance on their belief of Baha'i. They take the teachings of the Baha'i religion as the teachings of heretics. Muslims
have ridiculed, persecuted, and executed followers of this faith since 1850, when they executed the Bab.
The similarities of these two religions are uncanny. They are so closely related, and the differences seem so miniscule, at least to the eye of an
outsider looking in. When it come to the prayer life of members of the two religions, they are almost identical. They both pray multiple times a day,
prayer is obligatory for both, there are movements and gestures to go along with the prayers, the prayers are done facing a certain location, either
Mecca or Qiblih, and they are both rooted from the same region in the world. In all reality the only major difference causing these two religions to
tear each other apart, is what they believe about the manifestation of Allah. Other than that they are both monotheistic, follow teachings from the
prophet Mohammad, and have a regulated form of prayer for members of the religion to follow. So like I said at the start, like any religion and/or its
branches, they can be practically identical, but so very different at the same time.
There are three major monotheistic religions still in practice today. They are Islam, Judaism, and

George Bernard Shaw once said, "There is only one religion, though there are a hundred versions of it." The Baha'i faith is one that would deem this
statement to be true. Baha'i is a lesser–known religion, but is still very important because people all over the world practice this faith. The origins of
the Baha'i faith and its connection to other religions, its main teachings, and the Baha'i calendar are all important aspects that contribute to Baha'i
today. Baha'i is considered to be an Abrahamic religion because it is an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam. It originated in Persia in 1844. A man named
Sayyid Ali Muhammed, also known as the Bab, claimed that he was having visionary dreams and was a prophet of God. He garnered many disciples,

The first of these teachings states that no matter what name is used for God – be it Allah, YHWY, Ahura Mazda, or any other name– the Supreme
Creator is one and the same. This is not to say that the Baha'is believe in multiple gods; they believe that God is a single being. Baha'is think that
humans are unable to fully comprehend this Supreme Creator. The oneness of religion teaches that all of the world's major religions come from God
and are not separate religions. They are, in fact, stages of the same religion that evolve as God sees fit. As previously stated, God is considered to be
unknowable and therefore has revealed His teachings through "Divine Teachers". These teachers, including, but not limited to Moses, Jesus, Buddha,
and Zoroaster, carried a message that was fit for the time. Due to these teachers, humanity has advanced and evolved through each new religion.
Baha'u'llah expressed that the oneness of mankind is the most important teaching of the Baha'i faith. This states that a person must first see themselves
as citizens of the world before they see themselves as a member of any other group. The ultimate goal of the Baha'i community is to attain world peace
through abandoning prejudice, eliminating extreme poverty and wealth, and creating harmony with religion and science. It is also their goal to make
education mandatory and attain equality between the sexes. Many members of the Baha'i faith participate in service to humanity as a way to spark
these changes (Hosoda et al.,

Satyagraha Essay
Mahatma Gandhi used the term "Satyagraha" to refer to a kind of active but absolutely non–violent resistance to oppression. In his words:
"Truth (satya) implies love, and firmness (agraha) engenders and therefore serves as a synonym for force. I thus began to call the Indian movement
Satyagraha, that is to say, the Force which is born of Truth and Love or non–violence, and gave up the use of the phrase "passive resistance", in
connection with it, so much so that even in English writing we often avoided it and used instead the word "satyagraha"... [Satyagraha in South Africa,

Preparation for Life in Peace: The Role of Youth
Statement to the International Year of Peace Seminar for the Asia, Pacific and Western Asia Regions
Bangkok,Thailand
20–24 May, 1985
The BahГЎ'Г International Community would like to make a few comments on the significant ways in which youth, with its idealism and energy, can
help fulfill the aim of the Charter of the United Nations to establish universal peace; and to suggest that the International Year of Peace Secretariat
give special attention in its proposed programme for IYP to the ways in which young people can, through their creativity and drive, not only be seized
with the vision of a world society incorporating the rich diversity of human characteristics and cultures, but also recognize their most valuable role in
achieving world unity and world peace.
Drawing on the experience of BahГЎ'Г youth from over 2000 ethnic backgrounds in more than 160 independent countries, the BahГЎ'Г International
Community suggests the following ways in which youth can hasten to bring about a lasting world peace and build a world civilization: I. By
developing an understanding and conviction of the principle of the organic oneness of humanity, and by expressing this belief through action.

He is someone that they love and worship, kind of like how Christians worship the Lord, their savior. I find this religion interesting and unique
because of it's connection to opening a "third eye" which I, personally, know a lot about because I am interested in that kind of stuff. The second
religion in Latin America is Hinduism. People who believe in this practice also believe in reincarnation, which means to be born again. Hindus also
believe that people who live a good life have and produce "good karma" which then allows the person to come back to life (be reincarnated) as
something better. They believe that everybody had a past life.
They also believe in the 4 yogas which are Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga. Each of these yogas means something different. The
Karma Yoga is the route of actions through selfless and kind–hearted services. Jnana Yoga is the route of knowledge by understanding the nature of
reality and self. The Raja Yoga is the route ofmeditation, and the Bhakti Yoga is the route of devotion. The thing that makes these people unique is
how they think. They say that good Karma leads to a good reincarnation while bad Karma leads to a not–so–good reincarnation.I find that very
interesting because of their logic and way of thinking.
The last religion in Latin America, that I will be typing about, is the Baha'i. These people believe in justice and equality. Their holy book is called the

Buddhism And Healing Essay
Introduction The understanding of health and the process of healing in regard to the religious belief of individuals goes beyond the realm of
spirituality (Suzanne, 2008). Health is believed by every religion as the most important value at which insights can be created, and as well a practical
means at which the health of individuals can be promoted. The secular perspective of religion is considered a contributing factor which broadens the
unique religious contribution and individual's concern to spiritual dimensions. However, the essay to be discussed is on the issue of the spiritual
perspective of individuals from different religious faith, and our main religious focus will be on the Buddhist religion, Sikh religion and the Baha'i ...

other component of healing used by the Buddhists (Penit, 2008)). In summary, the practice of Buddhism involves the process of; doing good,
meditating and avoiding harm. In comparison with the Christian faith, both religious faiths have measures at which healing can be achieved by its
followers. While Buddhists believe in the in the process of meditation as a measure to attain healing by its followers, Christians believe that in
praying to God, healing can be achieved by its followers (Penit, 2008). Moreover, differences occur between the Christian faith and the Buddha faith
especially on the aspect of the delivery of medical care. The Buddhist faith believes that the promotion of self–confidence and a reduction of the
suffering of an ill person optimistically can achieved through the practice of yoga and meditation while the Christian faith on the other hand, does not

Shut your eyes to estrangement, then fix your gaze upon unity... This span of earth is but one homeland and one habitation. –Baha'u'llah (1817–1892)
What possible connection could a Persian prisoner in a culturally stunted corner of the 19th century mideast have with the progressive spirit of our age?
The spirit of a beaten mankind arising, phoenix–like, from the ashes of pride and prejudice to the glory of unity and brotherhood. Well, everything.
Biased though I may be, as a Baha'i I also embrace wholeheartedly the inspiration of every visionary that has called for a wider appreciation of
humanity. Thoreau, Tolstoy, Gandhi and Dr. King come readily to mind. Today Baha'is everywhere gather to commemorate the 196th anniversary of
the birth of Baha'u'llah. It would be only befitting to pause and glance at the quiet revolution of human consciousness brought about by this serene
child prodigy born on 12 November, 1817 to one Khadijih Khanum and Mirza Buzurg. A few years back I threw myself into an amateur historical
research project. Mainly for my own sport. My ambitious purport was to scan through all the known historical figures preceding Baha'u'llah. Leastways
those that have mentioned the unity of mankind or the brotherhood of man, even if only passingly. At the outset I summarily dismissed all hypocritical
imperialist declarations and manifests for world peace. Such as the Roman Pax Romana or the Nazi German "one People, one Nation, one Leader."

Christianity : The Differences And Beliefs Of Christianity...
Christianity is a well–known religion throughout the world; however, it has a couple of similarities to the lesser–known religion of the Baha'i Faith.
Their understandings and belief in a promised one is one of two main concepts that can be compared between the two faiths. Additionally, there are
many branches of Christianity; whereas, there is nowhere near as many in the Baha'i Faith. The similarities and differences of Christianity and the
Baha'i Faith can be drawn by inspecting their key concepts, especially those of a promised one and a promised land, and how they were influenced by
Judaism. Christianity has many different forms, but they all revolve around the belief in Jesus Christ. The Messiah was foretold to have a role that of
a king or military leader descended from King David; many believe Jesus of Nazareth was this Messiah, even though he was not what the people
envisioned (Molloy 336). However, their understanding of his nature in the Holy Trinity, which is composed of the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit,
differs. Many believe that he will return to earth, judge human beings, and inaugurate the golden age. Additionally, the many factions of Christianity
argue over the true meanings of the Ten Commandments. Rituals upheld by Christians, that are seen as active signs of God's grace, are typically called
sacraments, these include: baptism, the Eucharist, confirmation, reconciliation, marriage, ordination, and the anointing of the sick (Molloy 386–387).

The Founding Of The Baha ' I Faith
"Baha'is consider themselves world citizens, working for the establishment of a universal human civilization based on love, spiritual virtues and the
desire of all people for the peace and prosperity (@BahaiTeachings. pg.1)." They believe in the harmony and peace of humanity and the
undividedness of all religions of the world. The founders of the Baha'i faith endured trials and tribulations to set the standards for future supporters.
The beliefs, worships, and traditions amplify the organization and ground rules of the Baha'i faith. This faith openly expresses its fondness of equality
to any gender, race, or ethnicity with minor differences. Baha'i religion is perhaps one of the most compassionate and nondiscriminatory religions
known to society. In similar fashion, the founders formed the history of the Baha'i faith. "A founder is a person who establishes an institution or

new message from God called the Bab, which means "The Gate (@BahaiTeachings. pg. 1)." The Babi faith spread quickly from the revolutionary
teachings of spiritual and moral transformation. The government was appalled by the sudden acknowledgement of the faith and acted immediately. An

The Abrahamic religions refer to the three monotheistic religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, all of which claim the prophet Abraham as their
forefather. These religions account for more than half of the world's total population today. All Abrahamic religions claim to worship only one god and
that God is their creator, ruler and judge. Christianity has a fundamental belief that follows the Trinity doctrine and this contradicts the Jewish, Islamic
and other monotheistic religions.
Judaism believes that there is only one God named Yahweh who was creator of all. The Masoretic Text is foundation of all the various sects of the

During the twentieth century the struggle for social change gathered momentum across the world. There are several notable movements that followed a

The Baha'is in Iran have suffered from persecution and hostility since the inception of the religion. Despite the majority of Iranians showing no
animosity towards Baha'is (Karlberg, 2010: 223), they have been on the receiving end of a full range of human rights abuse such as execution, torture,
imprisonment without trial, social and economic exclusion, seizure of property and assets and desecration of holy places and gravesites.
Since the Islamic Revolution of 1979 there has been a renewed wave of anti–Baha'i persecution and violence (Karlberg, 2010: 223), the severity of
which attracted the attention of the world – alerting the global media, various agencies of the U.N., human rights movements and civil society both

The Differences Of Hinduism And The BaпїЅ Faith
Two of the most widespread religions in the world today are Hinduism and the BahГЎ'Г Faith. While Hinduism is a major world religion and the
BahГЎ'Г Faith are a minor world religion, their impacts are different but no less significant. Each religion has a variety of fine points that make them
unique, but they also share quite a bit in common. Both religions share so much in common that it can be hard to tell apart, but Hinduism has its own
distinct beliefs that do not coincide with the BahГЎ'Г Faith. For instance, while Hinduism is one of the eight core religions believed in in the BahГЎ'Г
Faith, Hindus see their religion as the only correct way to live your life and they do not accept other religions such as Christianity, Islam, and Judaism
as those of the BahГЎ'Г Faith do. Hinduism is also unique because there was no sole founder and it arose in history around 1500–1200 BCE (PG1).
This differs from the BahГЎ'Г Faith where their founder, the Bab–ud–Din, began the radical idea of all religions being the same in only the
mid–1800's and from then on has had many leaders who have carried the religion (PG2). It is clear that Hinduism is different because it has been
around a lot longer than the BahГЎ'Г Faith even if the BahГЎ'Г Faith accepts the teachings of Hinduism. Another significant difference between the
BahГЎ'Г Faith and Hinduism is their god(s). Those who practice Hinduism have many gods such as Vishnu, Krishna, Rama, and Shiva and worship

Education Is Not A Crime Essay
Education is Not a Crime: Baha'I Youths Denial of Education
People of the Baha'i faith are persecuted in most countries where there is a Muslim majority, but especially in Iran. They are persecuted for a variety of
reasons, but mainly because the Baha'i faith is outside that of the Muslim faith. The Iranian government has arrested people of the Baha'i faith, beat
them, tortured them, confiscated and destroyed their property and denied them access to governmental benefits, civil rights and liberties and higher
education. This paper will focus on the persecution of the Baha'i, especially their denial of higher education and employment opportunities, which
impacts them throughout their life because it prevents them from being able to provide a comfortable future for themselves and their family.
The Baha'I religion originated in Iran, and the largest Baha'i community still lives there. As of 1990, there were 400,000 Baha'i living in Iran, which
made it the largest non–Muslim religious minority in Iran (Cole, 1990). Almost since then they have been persecuted by the ShГ'i clerics, but have
always responded without violence, unlike most other minority groups in Iran (Cole, 1990). The reasons that they are persecuted lies in the religions
creation story and the major principles that they adhere to. The Baha'i faith was established by a Babi schollar named BahГЎ'u'llГЎh in 1863 . He
claimed to be the one foretold by the Bab that God would make manifest, in other words that he was

  • 4. Religious Homosexual Oppression Oppression based on race, sex and sexual orientation: Over the past 150 years, there have been many groups who have sought the North American dream of "liberty and justice for all." Examples are: В•Americans African seeking an end to slavery. В•Women campaigning to get universal suffrage. В•And now, gays and lesbians are seeking the same equal rights and protections enjoyed by other groups, including the right to marry. This final conflict over homosexuality is a little different from the two conflicts based on race and gender. Being an African–American or a woman was never considered a crime. But being a sexually active person with a homosexual orientation was, theoretically, a crime in 13 states until the middle of 2003. Being ... In this case, the findings of researchers are generally rejected because they conflict with their interpretation of the Bible. Relying on their interpretation of the Bible can be disastrous. Consider the debate over slavery in the mid 19th century. In those days, some denominations enthusiastically quoted biblical passages to support the owning of human slaves as pieces of property. Liberals give far greater weight to the findings of scientific research, and are willing to abandon the traditional interpretation of biblical passages in favor of new analyses which harmonize the Bible and scientific discoveries. This also can be disastrous from time to time. Although science is inherently self correcting, sometimes scientists develop theories which deviate wildly from reality, are inaccurate, and cause harm. Always remember that one of the recipients of the Nobel Prize for medicine was the physician who developed frontal lobotomies. Typical conservative Protestant beliefs about homosexuality: Conservative Christians generally believe that the Bible authors were inspired by God to write text that is inerrant –– free of error. They often quote the Bible's seven passages –– often called "clobber passages" which have traditionally been used to condemn homosexuality. They have generally concluded that the Bible clearly and consistently condemns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Baha I Faith Research Paper While the Baha'i faith may not be considered one of the top five global religions, it is quickly becoming significantly popular within the United States and around the globe as well. The Baha'i faith originated in northern Iran and quickly spread from there. The Baha'i faith is different from most religions due to the fact that you are not simply born into the religion. Instead, every individual has the choice of whether or not they want to practice the religion. The idea of choosing to be a member of the Baha'i faith is influenced by their core belief that religion is a spiritual journey and every individual must find their own truth. The faith encourages every member to determine for themselves what they believe to be true in regard to religion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, like the Christian faith, the "Most Holy Book" is a large part of the Baha'is everyday life and their religious practices. Both the Bible and the Kitab–i–Aqdas were compiled form beliefs and teachings of the prophets. Neither of the holy texts were written by the prophets of the religion, but they are important to fully understand the histories of the religions. Within the Kitab–i–Aqdas, Baha'u'llah details the importance of equality for both genders. This is similar to the Christian faith because both the Kitab–i–Aqdas as well as the Bible explicitly teach the importance of men and women being equal. Despite the teachings within the Bible, gender equality is not always seen within the Christian faith, whereas the Baha'i faith places an intense focus on the equality. Baha'is believe that equality for men and women should be in every aspect, for example spiritually, educationally and culturally. The idea of gender equality is deeply rooted in the idea of the oneness of humankind. The Baha'i theme of unity spans from gender, to race, to religion. In addition to the idea of gender equality, the "Most Holy Book" describes the methods of obtaining an altered state of consciousness that a member of the Baha'i faith can utilize. Members of the Baha'i faith are prohibited from consuming alcohol or taking any drugs. Instead, Baha'is generally use prayer in order to enter an altered state of consciousness. The Bab supported the use of meditation and prayer in order to be put into an altered state of consciousness and condemned any other method of obtaining an altered state of consciousness. This is similar to Christianity because the Bible details certain actions that Christians cannot participate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Baha I Religion The Baha'i religion originated in Iran in the 1863 by Baha'u'llah, who is also known as Mirza Hoseyn 'Ali Nuri, or in Arabic "Glory of God". The Baha'i faith does not believe their religion is new. It's principle belief is that it combines all religions and humanity. ("Beliefs of the Baha'i Faith") The Baha'i religion has spread to be the second most widespread religion in the world. The contents of this paper will include the origin and basic beliefs of the Baha'i Faith. Baha'i faith is similar to Islam. "Sins" are simply forgiven because one cannot have a relationship with God. They teach that balancing good and bad manifestations help them grow spiritually. Man must control the circumstances in life. ("What is Baha'i Faith?") • 10. Taking a Look at Baha'i Faith The quest for salvation is emphasized in many religions because of the dichotomy that exists in their eschatology. Eschatology is the study of the end of time in this earthly world. In many religions such as Zoroastrianism, Abrahamic Religions, and Buddhism, when a human passes from this world he is either judged deserving of God's salvation or punished for not being virtuous. There is no gray area. By studying a religion's unique "soteriology", its beliefs about how humans can achieve salvation, individuals can gain insight into a religion's core beliefs. There exist significant differences in soteriology from religion to religion and as the world has slowly changed, new religions have emerged with radically different views on eschatology and soteriology. The Baha'i Faith, a New Religious Movement (NRM), emerged in the mid–nineteenth century and was influenced by Zoroastrianism, Abrahamic religions, and Buddhism. The Baha'i faith grew because of its distinct soteriology and purposely–vague eschatological beliefs. Despite the Baha'i Faith's differences in eschatological and soteriological thought from Zoroastrianism, Abrahamic religions, and Buddhism, the Baha'i Faith's emphasis on individual and group salvation in this world, and not the afterlife, allowed it to emerge and grow as a New Religious Movement. The Baha'i Faith is a NRM that began in the mid–nineteenth century by Baha'u'llah out of the Islamic tradition. Baha'u'llah, a Persian nobleman, pronounced himself to ... • 11. Similarities Between Deucalion And Lycaon In a Greek version Deucalion is warned of the flood. He builds an ark and stuffs it with creatures. Deucalion also sends a pigeon to search for land, and the bird returns with an olive branch. When he completes the voyage he gives thanks, and takes advice from the gods on how to repopulate the Earth. In a more colorful version, Zeus was angered by the extreme pride of the "Pelasgians", the indigenous inhabitants of the Aegean Sea region, so he decided to punish them. Lycaon was the king of Arcadia, which was a part of the Peloponnese peninsula. It was an unspoiled, harmonious wilderness, thought to be the home of Pan. To punish Zeus for his oppression, Lycaon offered a blood sacrifice. Arcas, a son of Zeus, was placed upon the burning altar.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They chastised and rebuked Salih, whom they had once adored. The poor and needy of the community became His only believers. This caused the others to mock His efforts even more. Salih asked that the rich stop oppressing the poor, and adopt a more virtuous behavior. A few more people accepted His words. Not surprisingly, most of them refused to heed His warning, and instead began to harass Him to cause a miracle as proof of the Power of God. Salih kept telling them to look around and remember the numerous miracles God had already bestowed upon them. He reminded His people of the countless castles and palaces they had built, and of their rich farm fields, and technical superiority. He also reminded them of the fate of the 'Ad, and how they were destroyed for their similar, unrepentant sins. "Produce a camel from the rocks", they shouted. Still, He exhorted them to worship One God, and be thankful to the One from whom all blessings flow. There was still time to turn from idolatry to monotheism. This new faith is primarily based on the founder, BahГЎ'u'llГЎh, meaning 'the Glory of God'. BahГЎ'Гs (the believers) in many places around the world have been heavily persecuted for their beliefs and differences and have been branded by many as a cult, a reform movement and/or a sect of the Muslim religion. The progenitors of the Faith were direct descendants of the Imams (Shiah chosen leaders). Tension grew between the Sunni and Shiah sects due to differences in belief of what leadership should prevail and rule after Muhammad's death. The first Sunni dynasty gained power twenty–nine years after Muhammad's death, and at once began putting the Imams to death, these descendents of Muhammad believed that it was them who should continue with Muhammad's teachings and assume the leadership of the people. With the persecution of the Imams, Shiah tradition says a young child, known as the twelfth Imam, was concealed to avoid execution. He was then to be known as the 'Hidden Imam'. For a period of sixty–nine years following his disappearance, the Hidden Imam was said to have communicated secretly with his followers through arbitrators, who took the title of bГЎbs (gate). With the passing of the bГЎbs, the title was passed on to a newly appointed one. • 18. Judaism And Judaism Judaism and Baha'i In the World The religions Baha'i and Judaism have many things in common but are also very different in many different aspects. Both religions are large and practiced in many places around the world by many people. These two can be compared with the multiple ways that their people have been viciously murdered. Even though Judaism is one of the oldest religions, Baha'i is much more of a prevalent religion and, perhaps more modern of the two. Despite their many similarities, abundant differences can be found if one looks carefully enough. Baha'i is a unique religion and it is very accepting to everyone and many different ideas. In the religion, it is believed that everyone is equal; all humans are the same in every way and gender, race, etc does not matter and everyone should just spread the word of God. Baha'i accepts most religions as true; it accepts the missions of Abraham, Moses, Buddha, and Jesus, they believe that these people were key parts of the revelation of God. The revelation of God in this religion is one of the things that is different about this religion; they believe that God is too great to understand, God does not have a gender, they only way that he can begin to be understood is through the teaching of his messengers because God cannot become an incarnation of a human. This religion began when a young man in Iran named, Ali Muhammad Shirazi said that he was the inspired interpreter of the Qur'an; he then changed his name Bab, which ... According to beliefs of the Baha'i faith, the most one can know about God is that God exists, so when we try to describe God, such qualities are just analogies that are the best the human mind can understand of God. Since the Baha'i faith recognizes that different religions have different names for the same one God, the Baha'i faith accepts all these faith traditions as valid. Abdu'l–BahГЎ put it like this: "The differences among the religions of the world are due to the varying types of minds" (Introduction to BahГЎ'Г Beliefs and God). A Baha'i believes that views of God might vary slightly across religions because the views are formed from the cultures and different time periods. Nonetheless, no idea of God by humans encapsulates the true qualities of God. God Himself if believed to be omnipotent, perfect, and have complete knowledge of life. Whether it be the various branches of Christianity, the Chinese religions, or even Judaism and Islam, they have so much in common when you work down to the roots of the religions. For starters, I will be comparing Islam and Baha'i. Part of the reason that Baha'i and Islam are so similar is because Baha'i gets its start from some of the base beliefs of Islam. Some of the similarities between the two are the fact that both have obligatory prayers. With Islam, a believer would pray five times a day. They pray at daybreak, noon, mid–afternoon, sunset, and evening. When Muslims do their prayers, there are specific movements and gestures involved. Also they must face Mecca, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Islamic faith has taken a firm stance on their belief of Baha'i. They take the teachings of the Baha'i religion as the teachings of heretics. Muslims have ridiculed, persecuted, and executed followers of this faith since 1850, when they executed the Bab. The similarities of these two religions are uncanny. They are so closely related, and the differences seem so miniscule, at least to the eye of an outsider looking in. When it come to the prayer life of members of the two religions, they are almost identical. They both pray multiple times a day, prayer is obligatory for both, there are movements and gestures to go along with the prayers, the prayers are done facing a certain location, either Mecca or Qiblih, and they are both rooted from the same region in the world. In all reality the only major difference causing these two religions to tear each other apart, is what they believe about the manifestation of Allah. Other than that they are both monotheistic, follow teachings from the prophet Mohammad, and have a regulated form of prayer for members of the religion to follow. So like I said at the start, like any religion and/or its branches, they can be practically identical, but so very different at the same time. The origins of the Baha'i faith and its connection to other religions, its main teachings, and the Baha'i calendar are all important aspects that contribute to Baha'i today. Baha'i is considered to be an Abrahamic religion because it is an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam. It originated in Persia in 1844. This is not to say that the Baha'is believe in multiple gods; they believe that God is a single being. Baha'is think that humans are unable to fully comprehend this Supreme Creator. The oneness of religion teaches that all of the world's major religions come from God and are not separate religions. They are, in fact, stages of the same religion that evolve as God sees fit. As previously stated, God is considered to be unknowable and therefore has revealed His teachings through "Divine Teachers". These teachers, including, but not limited to Moses, Jesus, Buddha, and Zoroaster, carried a message that was fit for the time. Due to these teachers, humanity has advanced and evolved through each new religion. Baha'u'llah expressed that the oneness of mankind is the most important teaching of the Baha'i faith. This states that a person must first see themselves as citizens of the world before they see themselves as a member of any other group. The ultimate goal of the Baha'i community is to attain world peace through abandoning prejudice, eliminating extreme poverty and wealth, and creating harmony with religion and science. It is also their goal to make education mandatory and attain equality between the sexes. • 38. How Participation in Social Action Can Serve as a... During the twentieth century the struggle for social change gathered momentum across the world. There are several notable movements that followed a non–violent path and changed the course of history through various means. However, there were few minorities who followed a non–adversarial approach and were able to resist peacefully in the face of over 170 years of oppression and injustice. The Baha'is in Iran have suffered from persecution and hostility since the inception of the religion. Despite the majority of Iranians showing no animosity towards Baha'is (Karlberg, 2010: 223), they have been on the receiving end of a full range of human rights abuse such as execution, torture, imprisonment without trial, social and economic exclusion, seizure of property and assets and desecration of holy places and gravesites. Since the Islamic Revolution of 1979 there has been a renewed wave of anti–Baha'i persecution and violence (Karlberg, 2010: 223), the severity of which attracted the attention of the world – alerting the global media, various agencies of the U.N., human rights movements and civil society both within Iran and it's diaspora, calling their attention to the plight of the Baha'is. • 39. The Differences Of Hinduism And The BaпїЅ Faith Two of the most widespread religions in the world today are Hinduism and the BahГЎ'Г Faith. While Hinduism is a major world religion and the BahГЎ'Г Faith are a minor world religion, their impacts are different but no less significant. Each religion has a variety of fine points that make them unique, but they also share quite a bit in common. Both religions share so much in common that it can be hard to tell apart, but Hinduism has its own distinct beliefs that do not coincide with the BahГЎ'Г Faith. For instance, while Hinduism is one of the eight core religions believed in in the BahГЎ'Г Faith, Hindus see their religion as the only correct way to live your life and they do not accept other religions such as Christianity, Islam, and Judaism as those of the BahГЎ'Г Faith do. Hinduism is also unique because there was no sole founder and it arose in history around 1500–1200 BCE (PG1). This differs from the BahГЎ'Г Faith where their founder, the Bab–ud–Din, began the radical idea of all religions being the same in only the mid–1800's and from then on has had many leaders who have carried the religion (PG2). It is clear that Hinduism is different because it has been around a lot longer than the BahГЎ'Г Faith even if the BahГЎ'Г Faith accepts the teachings of Hinduism. Another significant difference between the BahГЎ'Г Faith and Hinduism is their god(s). Those who practice Hinduism have many gods such as Vishnu, Krishna, Rama, and Shiva and worship them all differently and for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are persecuted for a variety of reasons, but mainly because the Baha'i faith is outside that of the Muslim faith. The Iranian government has arrested people of the Baha'i faith, beat them, tortured them, confiscated and destroyed their property and denied them access to governmental benefits, civil rights and liberties and higher education. This paper will focus on the persecution of the Baha'i, especially their denial of higher education and employment opportunities, which impacts them throughout their life because it prevents them from being able to provide a comfortable future for themselves and their family. The Baha'I religion originated in Iran, and the largest Baha'i community still lives there. As of 1990, there were 400,000 Baha'i living in Iran, which made it the largest non–Muslim religious minority in Iran (Cole, 1990). Almost since then they have been persecuted by the ShГ'i clerics, but have always responded without violence, unlike most other minority groups in Iran (Cole, 1990). The reasons that they are persecuted lies in the religions creation story and the major principles that they adhere to. The Baha'i faith was established by a Babi schollar named BahГЎ'u'llГЎh in 1863 . He claimed to be the one foretold by the Bab that God would make manifest, in other words that he was ...
