Example Of Mystery Shopping
Mystery Shopping scams
As with most things related to making money online, Mystery Shopping has its share of scams.
Many fraudelent promoters send emails or post ads saying it's possible to earn a good living with mystery shopping jobs. If you reply to these ads,
you will be directed to their websites where there is information about getting some form of certification or training, access to a job directory or
perhaps even a gaurantee of a job. The big problem to have access to all this information you have to pay. A list ofmystery shopping jobs can be found
online for free, never pay to get started in this business.
Another scam that I have heard about is after being hired as a mystery shopper, people are sent some checks to deposit in their personel accounts.
One of their tasks will be to evaluate the money transfer service of companies like Western Union. They are told to wire the money back to their
employer. Everything seems normal and the mystery shopper will complete a report. The problem is that the check is a fake and this may take the
bank several weeks to discover. Once discovered it will be the person who deposited the check who is responsible for reimbursing the bank.
How much can you earn as a mystery shopper
When starting, secret shoppers are paid something between $5 and $20. You may recuperate travel expenses, but there... Show more content on

The number of shopping gigs you will be able to do will also depend on where you live. If you are in a city or large town you will be offered more jobs
and you could be able to fit in a shop in your lunch break and another on the way home from work. But if you live and work in the sticks you will
have to drive to do your shop and unless there is a big town near by you won't make much from mystery

Summary Of ' Dead Girls Don 't Write Letters `` By Gail Giles
Kreena PatelBook Talk
For the mystery book talk, I read, "Dead Girls Don't Write Letters" by Gail Giles.
The setting takes place in present day Texas throughout the whole novel. The main characters were Sunny Reynolds (14) who was the main
detective of the novel, and the younger sister of the dead sister, who died in a fire in New York, but was deeply loved by everyone, Deborah Hallard a
girl who looked and pretended to be Jasmine Reynolds (the girl who died), but knew everything about her and her family, and Dan and Lily Reynolds
the parents of Sunny and Jasmine. Dan had a drinking problem, and Lily was depressed because of her beloved daughter who was dead, Jasmine.
The mystery of the story was when a letter arrived to Sunny's house from her dead sister, two months after her sister passed away. It said that
Jasmine was going to come home because she ran away even though she was reported dead. When Jazz arrived at her family's doorstep, everyone
besides Lily knew that it wasn't the real Jasmine. They weren't sure who she was, why she was at their home pretending to be someone who she wasn't,
and how she knew everything about the Reynold's family and their secrets. The detective in the novel was Sunny Reynolds. She was always trying to
find clues about the girl pretending to be her sister, calling people to get as much information as possible, and would even look through the girl's bags
even if that risked her getting caught because unlike some people, she had nothing

Middle Ages Narrative Essay
Day–1 Ok. So today, I woke up on a bed, almost falling down. For a moment, I thought where I was, and remembered that I have traveled back in
time to the Middle Ages. I didn't know why I was on a bed, or how. Soon after I have done dressing up, I noticed that there was a little girl right
next to the door, peeking in the room. Her sister came into the room, and told me that she found me on this street that people usually don't go. She
gave me a bread to eat, while I observe the room. After eating the bread, I asked if I could see their mother. And this was the most surprising. The
girl told me that SHE was the mother! I couldn't believe what I've heard, so I asked her again. Same answer. She told me that it was normal to
marry early and give birth early. I asked her age, and answered 14. Oh god. I'm 17. She's younger than me and is already married. And given birth.
And she said it's normal. I guess medieval girls are so early on stuff. Well the rest of the day was peaceful. Emily was the mother's name and she told
me that if I could help them with chores, I could stay. What a nice mom! So, I helped her clean the room up. I also noticed something else. It's normal
to eat, sleep, and do other stuff in one room, since there's not enough room. Day–2 Today, I went shopping with Emily to buy food. I noticed a few
things while going to the market. I saw this crowd of people looking at something. I peeked in and looked at it. It was awful! Emily told me that they
were punishing

A Comparison OfThe Boy In The Box?
In February 1957, a boy's body was found wrapped in a plaid blanket in the woods off Susquehanna Road in Fox Chase, Philadelphia. The Boy in
the Box, which is still unsolved today, is one the most intriguing cases in the Philly area and even in the world. With this being said, many theories
arose from this very case. People have been discussing this case through platforms such as podcasts on the internet, shows, and even play offs of
the case in television shows. Podcasts are one of the main ways people give ideas, facts, and opinions to a great deal of people. Many podcasts
discussing the same case "The Unknown Boy" are similar and can also be very different based on their tone, structure, pacing, and their evidence. Two
podcasts that discuss the case are from Unsolved Murders and from Thinking Sideways. They both consist of series of podcasts that discuss different
cases and they both had done this very case. They have similarities but also have intriguing differences. The first podcast is by Unsolved Murders: True
Crime Stories which is a podcast drama with a modern twist on old time radio that dives into the mystery of true cases and unsolved murders. They
discuss cases in an entertaining way on their journey through the crime scene, the investigation and attempt to even "solve the case". The second
podcast is from the "Thinking Sideways" podcast series. This series is two guys and one girl with no formal education to guide them, sit down every

Types Of The Middle Theater : FAQ About Medieval Theater
FAQ about Medieval Theater
1 Q: What type of plays were the most popular and who was the most popular play writer?
There were three types of plays that were the most popular. One of them being Mystery plays, which were stories used from the Bible. One play had
the priests and monks that were actors and there were four or five different scenes/acts. Another popular type was The Miracle play, which was about a
saints life and their actions. And lastly is the Morality plays which taught people about life as told by the rules of the church (Donn). One of the most
popular play writers was a woman named Hrosvitha. She made many plays that were popular in the Medieval Times (McDonald–Miranda).
2 Q: Where and how were performances performed?
There were two main areas that plays were typically held. One of them being Mansions, which aren't the mansions we know today. Theses mansions
were small scenic structures, for example, a throne may be the palace of Pilate. Another main area they were held was a Platea, which is a general
acting area, neighboring a mansion. The mansion and platea were loaned from the church services (Trumbull, 2007).
3 Q: What did the costumes, sets, and specials effects look like?
There were two different kinds of stages the plays were performed on, fixed and moveable. (Trumbull, 2007). Churches provided the costumes for the
actors. Actors in liturgical dramas wore church clothing, but this slowly converted overtime. Actors often wore masks, which came in

The Quotations Of Biblical Allusions In The Theme Of Bartleby
When the lawyer calls for Bartleby in order for them to examine the copies together Bartleby responses by saying, "I would prefer not to" (11). The
lawyer describes his feelings by saying, "for a few moments I was turned into a pillar of salt, standing at the head of my seated column of clerks" (11).
This is an allusion to the story of lot in which god came to Lot, who was currently staying in Sodom and Gomorrah, and told him and his wife to flee
and to not look back. As the city was destroyed Lot and his wife proceeded to flee, but Lot's wife ended up looking back causing her to turn into a
pillar a salt. Here the lawyer is comparing himself to Lot's wife in the sense that they are frozen in place. However the lawyer starts by saying "for
a few moments, meaning that this effect on him would not last forever like Lot's wife's effect did. Since it is thought that Lot's Wife looked back
because her daughters were still in the house it suggests that the lawyer has some type of care for Bartleby that caused him to feel like a pillar of salt.
By the narrator using quotations of biblical allusions to describe his feeling towards Bartleby it frame a story by creating a clash in the narrator's mind
as to how he feels about Bartleby and whether or not he should get rid of him. When the lawyer finds out Bartleby never leaves the office and has
made it his home he says, "Before, I had never experienced aught but a not unpleasing sadness. The bond of common humanity now drew me

The Beginning A History Of New Zealand 's Ufo Activity
the Beginning... A history of New Zealand's UFO activity BY TONY LUCAS 12/01/2014 UFO SIGHTINGS
Historically, most of the Northern Hemisphere holds the attention of many when it comes to paranormal activity, UFO's, Cryptozoology and strange
phenomena.
UFO
What I hope to bring forth in these articles is the often not heard of Phenomena that is just as prevalent in the Southern Hemisphere.
As an Independent UFO Investigator myself I will however ask the readers forgiveness if I often indulge myself in that field.
Being a New Zealander, it is often not recognized that New Zealand has many unheard of mysteries and its fair share of UFO activity. We also have
our own version of Bigfoot known as the Moehau, also a mystery otter like creature, alien big cats, and more. Our nearest neighbor, Australia also has
its fair share of UFO sightings, Criptids (animals that are not known or presumed extinct), and strange phenomena.
As a UFO Investigator, I like to make quite clear how easy it is to be fooled. Often, what we think we see is not what it appears to be. In the case of
UFO's, weather balloons, the planet Venus, satellites and other man–made phenomena are often mistaken for UFOs. My belief is that once you have
eliminated all the obvious and, sometimes the not so obvious, whatever you are left with must be the answer.
New Zealand has a long history of UFO activity beginning in the late 19th century with the airship flap of the period, when there was a rash of
sightings of

Representation Of Cain In The Bible
In the Biblical story of Cain and Abel from the book Genesis, there is no doubt that Cain was the central character. It was Cain, who got so angry,
when God preferred Abel's gift over Cain's, it was also him, who had a conversation with God about the role of sin in man's life and at the end, it was
him who killed his own brother, but on the other hand lived a long life full of children. This story is mainly about Cain, so is Steinbeck's East of Eden.
In the first generation of the Trask family, Charles is considered as Cain representative. Charles is stronger, faster and more intelligent than his brother
Adam. When growing up, he won all the contests he had with his Adam, so when he got bored with him, he found competition amongst others. At one
time, when Adam and Charles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Neither Charles nor Caleb is described as pure evil, since many times throughout the novel they show genuine signs of goodness. In the first
generation of the Trasks, it is Charles, although younger, who protects his older brother against bullies and their own father (East of Eden 26). After
Cyrus dies, when Adam comes back home and they first talk about their father, Adam says that he didn't love their father and that he hated him.
Charles starts crying and he explains to Adam that Cyrus loved Adam more than anything in the world; also he mentions the gift they gave their
father and how he loved the puppy Adam gave him and at the end, it was Charles who says that he loved him, even after the rejection (East of Eden
85). Caleb, although he considers himself responsible for the death of his brother Aron, loves both Aron and Adam; he even offers to work at the ranch
to put Aron through college (East of Eden

The Importance Of Mimes In The Roman Empire
In the Roman Empire, in its early years there was a great confrontation between the Romans and the Christians. At this point in time Christianity was a
new and growing religion. These Christians believed that their God was the only God. They didn't create idols of Him or build Him temples as the
Romans did to their gods. These Christians also had another problem with the Romans and that was their theatre. They didn't have a problem with
comedies or tragedies but with Mimes. According to the text it says that "Because some mimes included sex and violence as part of the performance
and because many of them mocked Christianity, Christian writers and believers demanded – unsuccessfully– the outlawing of the theatre of their time,
which is to say, mime and pantomime." They were unsuccessful in the outlawing of mimes and pantomimes but in 313 CE the Emperor Constantine
issued the Edict of Milan and proclaimed religious tolerance to the Christians in the empire. The Christians were unable to hinder the mime movement
and it became even bigger with other entertainment becoming just as excessive as mimes were considered to be.
The plays of Hroswitha and the liturgical manual of Ethelwold are two events that mark the reentry of theatre and drama into Western Europe.
Hroswitha was a religious leader and a noblewoman who wrote plays in Latin. Her plays celebrated "the laudable chastity of holy maidens." These
plays were performed at the court and at the monastery. It is uncertain if she

Essay about Lessons in Leadership in Demian
Lessons in Leadership in Demian
In Demian, Hesse uses a comparison to the Biblical story of Cain and Abel to convey his ideas about those who are different. The idea arises again
and again, causing the reader to look at it from a very unique perspective. Through this comparison, the reader begins to see the mark of Cain as a
positive symbol –– as the mark of those who would lead the world into the future of mankind, without fear.
When Emil Sinclair first meets Max Demian, he sees that Demian is not like anyone he has ever known. Unconsciously, he views Demian as having a
mark –– something that sets him apart from the others. Sinclair isn't sure if it is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is important in explaining how both Demian and Sinclair are so separate from the others: they bear this metaphorical mark. This explains, also,
the characters in the book toward which Sinclair is drawn –– Frau Eva, Pistorius, Beatrice; all people whom are different from the herd. This notion of
superiority is supported constantly throughout the novel, but never quite so clearly as when Demian demonstrates his inherently stronger will. He
somehow scares Kromer, Sinclair's childhood tormentor, away; he stares down the Confirmation class' teacher in order to sit wherever he likes. Being
so much stronger and bolder than others, he is capable of exerting his will over theirs. This is a product of that which his mark implies.
People such as these do, in fact, exist in the real world. They are not just creations of an imagination in application to the Biblical tale of Cain and Abel.
Though the difference in these stronger, perhaps better, people is not quite so apparent in reality as in Demian, they do bear the same sort of mark.
These people are the ones who show no fear, who innovate and create without concern for the standards of others. They write novels such as Demian
and The Fountainhead; they sculpt statues like the "Madonna della Pietá." They are wise, intelligent, and bold.

The Subgenre Of The Genfield Genre
The thriller genre has undergone many changes and phases throughout the past, which is evident in the changes within its subgenres, each of which has
its own distinctions. Some subgenres of the thriller genre include the detective thriller and the suspense thriller. Alfred Hitchcock revolutionized the
thriller genre during his lifetime. In fact, his work defined a whole subgenre of the thriller: the suspense thriller. The thriller genre has evolved and
developed over the history of film and has changed throughout the postclassical and modernist periods. In the postclassical period, films would
focus more on developing the character of the protagonist rather than the antagonist. The backstory and motives of the antagonist would not be a
driving force in a film during that period. In the postclassical period, the elements of good and evil in the films are usually very distinct as well with
little to no grey zone. However, as time passed, there was a transition from the postclassical period to the modernist period which also brought about
changes in some of the aspects of cinema. During the modernist era, there was a greater emphasis on the antagonists of a film. Films would oftentimes
give antagonists some more attention and backstory than they did before. There was also not as clear of a distinction between good and evil; there
was oftentimes a grey zone which allows the audience to feel empathy for the antagonist. This newfound focus on the antagonists can be seen in Murder

Mabon : The Tale Of Lobeth, The Welsh God
History/Mythology – Celtic/Welsh: The tale of Mabon ap Modron, the Welsh God, (the "great son of the great mother"), also known as the Son of
Light, the Young Son, or Divine Youth, is celebrated. The Equinox is also the birth of Mabon, from his mother Modron, the Guardian of the
Outerworld, the Healer, the Protector, the Earth. Mabon was taken after he is a mere three nights old (some variations of the legend say he is taken
after three years). Through the wisdom of the living animals – the Stag, Blackbird, Owl, Eagle and Salmon – Mabon is freed from his mysterious
captivity. All the while Mabon had rested within his mother's womb; a place of nurturing and challenge. With strength and lessons gained within the
magickal Outerworld (Modron's womb), Mabon is soon reborn as his mother's Champion, the Son of Light, wielding the strength and wisdom
acquired during his captivity. Also, (from a variation in legend) the Equinox is the day of the year when the god of light, Lugh, is defeated by the god
of darkness, Lugh's twin and alter–ego, Tanist. The night conquers day. The tales state that the Equinox is the only day which Lugh is vulnerable and
the possibility of his defeat exists. Lugh stands on the balance (Autumn Equinox–Libra) with one foot on the goat (Winter Solstice–Capricorn) and the
other on the cauldron (Summer Solstice–Cancer). He is betrayed by Blodeuwedd, the Virgin (Virgo) and transformed into an Eagle (Scorpio). Two

East Of Eden Character Analysis
The novel, East of Eden, by John Steinbeck references to the bible quite a bit when describing some of the characters. Steinbeck refers to the story
of Cain and Abel, two brothers who lived in peace until Cain slaughtered Abel. One day the two boys were to offer sacrifices to god; Abel offers his
best lamb and Cain offers grain to god. God prefers Abel's gift over Cain's and in a jealous fit of anger Cain murders Abel. After this God comes to talk
to Cain about what he had just done and in doing so he banishes Cain to "the land of Nod, east of Eden"(Genesis 4:16). Steinbeck uses a few Cain like
characters throughout the novel to illustrate the reality of humanity; jealousy and favorability shapes our society and the way people act. There is
no place to escape one's baser nature besides death's home; steinbeck shows this through Cal Trask, Charles Trask, and Tom Hamilton. Cal Trask
is the most prominent Cain like figure because he has always been the twin who was looked down upon and he causes his brothers death with an
act of jealousy exactly like Cain did to Abel. When Adam says,"You'll have to give it back" Cal is torn apart and in a state of jealousy and hatred
towards his brother(Steinbeck 540). He knows that Aron is the preferred twin and this really makes him upset. This exact thing happens in the bible
when Abel's gift is the one God likes more of the two. This builds up jealousy in Cain and pushes him to the point where he murders Abel. Also when
Cal says,"Oh, it's

Cain And Abel In The Bible
The story of Cain and Abel in the book of Genesis is a great illustration of frustration–induced criminality. According to Berkowitz, "delay or blockage
may generate intense anger or even a violent response, if the frustrated individual believes that type of response will eliminate the interference" (Bartol
& Bartol, 2016, p. 94). In Genesis 4:4–5, Cain's perception that Abel was blocking God's approval of him is illustrated, "and the Lord had regard for
Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So, Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell" (New Revised Standard
Version). Upon determining that Abel stood in the way of him being able to obtain approval in the eyes of God, Cain sought to eliminate him. By
murdering his brother, Cain was able to temporarily alleviate the frustration he experienced by not being able to obtain God's approval of his sacrifice....

Everyman Essay
Everyman "Everyman" certainly fits the mold of a typical medieval mystery play. Ominously, the play begins with God perceiving how "all
creatures be to [Him] unkind." Men, it seems, commit the Seven Deadly Sins far too regularly, and their only concern seems to be their own
pleasure. Angered by this casual manner humans have adopted toward Him, God decides a reckoning is in order. He summons his "mighty
messenger" Death, eerily and effectively personified for the audience members. God commands the dark figure to go forth to the Earth and take
Everyman on a "pilgrimage" he will never escape. At the beginning of the play, there is no doubt that this pilgrimage is the road to hell and eternal
damnation.
The character of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By having Everyman interact with these conceptualized characters, the author externalizes his inner conflict. Perhaps this technique seems too obvious
or almost condescending to our more literate age, but whatever the case, it effectively conveys the central message of the play.
A consequence of this technique is a stage full of characters with whom we cannot identify. it is difficult for an audience member, medieval or
otherwise, to identify with a character who is a concept without individuality. The uniqueness we associate with humans can not be found here, as the
characters represented do not represent actual human beings. Even Everyman, the primary narrative agent, is problematic. Although we feel for him,
we can only do so at a distance. He is not one of us, he is all of us. Obviously, the play is a product of the Christian religion. Most important among the
ideas and recurring themes presented in this passage is God's statement: "Charity do they clean forget." Too concerned for their own worldly
possessions, human beings have forgotten their duties to the less fortunate. This prompts God's call for a "reckoning," which Death readily carries out.
God also states that "Every man liveth so after his own pleasure." In fact, later in the play, Everyman confronts Goods, the personification of all that he
has owned during his life. He learns that though he

To measure customer service, different tools can be used, like: NPS surveys, exit interviews, focus groups..., but what mystery shopping does, is
focusing on what is the strategy and how is been executed in operational sense, so as a example from my experience, I compare two different hotels
with different standards, so to the first hotel the person from reception is welcoming the customer "good day, how are you?".That may sound fine,
the customer opinion is "the greetings was nice, friendly and warm...", customer is happy with the services but maybe is not enough, what is behind
this, is you may want to lift the standards of the service level, to be more professional, so to the second hotel the receptionist is welcoming the
customer "good day sir, welcome to our hotel...", the difference in this case if professionalism. The customers might not make the difference as long
as they get what they are expecting to get and customer service can be good from customer point of view, but mystery shopping is showing what
needs to be improved, changed, updated in order to lift up the standards, so is trying to predict what it's going to happen in the future, evolving the

The Mystery Of Detective Fiction
Detective Fiction exists as one of the most popular fiction genres of all–time. Detective fiction uses facts and other details to solve a mystery which
surrounds a perplexing murder in a novel. Many people gain excitement over a challenge or a test of knowledge when solving a puzzle. A puzzle
may baffle or confuse the puzzler; therefore, the puzzler likes to solve the puzzle before the ending. People enjoy the experience of sheer
satisfaction of solving a mystery before ending the literary work. Curiosity describes itself as "the desire to learn or know about anything;
inquisitiveness" (Dictionary). Curiosity somehow leads people on the path to try to solve a mystery or a puzzle. It remains a question of why people
desire to solve a puzzle. Maybe their inquisitive mind drives them to solve the puzzle or a mystery. Often after the reader finishes reading a detective
novel and solving the mystery before the reveal of the murderer, they find this satisfying to their curiosity. Thus they begin to continue reading more
mystery fictional novels. The birth of detective fiction surfaced around the "19th century" (Gaines). "The Moonstone" novel considered the first
detective novel written (Sahni). The novel created by Wilkie Collins established the ground rules for detective novels. Before the detective fiction
surfaced, many novels conveyed the murderer as the innocent one, instead of the victim as the innocent one. These works of fiction, unfortunately did

How Does Steinbeck Present Cain In The Bible
In John Steinbeck's East of Eden, Adam's son Cal reflects the character of Cain in the Bible. Cain is born to Adam and Eve. When Cain and Abel
present gifts to God, God favors Abel's gift. Cain grows jealous and kills his brother out of jealousy. Though similar to Cain, John Steinbeck uses
the choices Cal makes to contrast his character to Cain in the Bible and to demonstrate that, despite being evil, people can choose their course in
life. Cal is similar to the Biblical character Cain in many ways. Both Cal and Cain are born to men named Adam and both have brothers who are
favored. In the Bible, God curses Cain, and makes him "a restless wanderer on the earth" (New Jerusalem Bible, Genesis. 4:14). In East of Eden, Cal

his brother, he hides the secret. Cal also inspires Aron to go to college early as he tells him, "'I'm going to try to make some money. If you knuckle
down and pass examinations a year early, why, I'll help you through college'" (Steinbeck 476). Cal tries to be good to his brother, but unfortunately
he lets his anger get the best of him. After being rejected by Adam, Cal becomes jealous of Aron and ignores his conscience. Despite the
consequences, Cal tells Aron what he knows about their mother (546), which ends up indirectly killing Aron. Aron volunteers for the war in
response to finding out about their mother and is killed in the war. Although Cal makes a couple of bad decisions, he also makes a lot of good
choices to try to be a better person. In contrast to Cain who is viewed to have hated his brother, Cal loves his brother and feels guilty over his brother's

Parody In Ann Radcliffe's Northanger Abbey
In Northanger Abbey, Jane Austen's witty parody of Ann Radcliffe's gothic classic The Mysteries of Udolpho, offers a euphemism of Gothic romances.
A comic study of the ironic discrepancies between the ordinary world in which Catherine Morland lives in and the fantasy that shapes her imagination,

Northanger Abbey is an ironic and realistic counterstory instead of the usual mysterious and dark gothic fiction. In Northanger Abbey, Austen uses

(Niebuhr 150). She understands that people can be both good and bad because real life is never as black–and–white as it is in the novels she reads. In
her mind, she is a Gothic heroine or at least, she is in training to become one. In the novel, Austen wrote, "from fifteen to seventeen she was training
for a heroine, she read all such works as heroines must read to supply their memories with those quotations which are so serviceable and so soothing
in the vicissitudes of their eventful lives" (Austen 20). Catherine pictured herself in a Gothic novel, believing she is going to become a hero and help
solve everyone's problems. She sees things that aren't there. She over analyzes a situation because she wants the mystery, the rush and the adrenaline it
gave her believing that the abbey was

Celebrity Essay
What does it mean to be a celebrity? Celebrities are just famous usually well known for some type of work they whether it be from acting, creating
music, comedy, directing, or even social media most celebrities are usually part of only one of these sub categories. Don't get me wrong there are some
multi hyphenate artists, but only one person exemplifies this more than Donald Glover Aka Childish Gambino (Stage name) well known for rapping,
writer, producer, actor, sketch comic, and stand up comedic. I did not choose a specific song, scene from his tv show, or his album cover art mainly

only time he had a self–fulfilling prophecy. Coming from a home strict with Jehovah Witness beliefs from his family. From his perspective, the
religion told him that the world was bad "I believe it made me see the world differently. Part of the religion is teaching you that the world is an evil
place, so trying to reconcile really liking stuff in the world but also being told it's bad makes you want to figure out" (Donald Glover). The beliefs
of religion pushed his curiosity to conform against it giving him inspiration him to find the answers the church couldn't provide "My creative outlet

Elizabethan Era Cinema
What were theatres like?
The beginning of theatres was very similar to how they are today. For example, they still had a large audience watching performing actors who have
scripted and learnt a set play. They also had teared seating as well.
The beginning of theatres was in 500 B.C. and back then going to the theatre was a big event. All of the women use to get their slaves to do their hair
especially nice and choose out the best dress they owned.
One of the reasons this event was so big was because it was occasional– unlike today when we can book a theatre production all year around, back in
500 B.C you had to wait because the Theatre group only visited a few days every year.
Another difference was that to go and watch this theatre group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the summer of 1851, there was a count of theatres, and there were 19 theatres in London.
Stage managers were introduced. Their jobs were the equivalent of modern–day directors and producers. Because of stage manager, a lot of backstage
confusion was stopped and chaos was reduced.
Who were the audiences?
The theatres were not restricted to certain classes of society. This is because they had improved the transportation system so the streets were far safer
to travel along (especially at night). This meant that plays could run longer into the night without people having to worry about how they were going to
get home safe. Therefore, theatres produced more money and consequently produced better plays.
Which plays were performed?
The main type of play was 'comedy'. This was a combination of high and low comedy. Plots based on coincidence and/or mistaken identities The
characters usually puppets of fate. They were usually unable to get married because they were too poor or too rich. They would also suffer a loss of
identity due to an accident. Another popular plot was where twins were separated and then they are unaware as to their double.

The Mystery Of Crime Fiction
INTRODUCTION Crime fiction is a genre of literature that has been well distinguished and unparalleled for generations due to the intrigue readers'
experience throughout the culminating plot. Suspense accumulates as the protagonist and reader alike must process the crimes and interpret all the
evidence presented so an apt denouement can resolve who has committed the murder and what their motives are. As the investigation progresses,
conflicts inevitably arise and pose adversity for the protagonist as they must determine if their inclinations are correct or their focus has been leading
them astray in the process. Uncertainty plagues the mind of those who are emotionally and professionally invested with the case. This aspect has
always been engaging because the internal conflicts the protagonist faces increases the drama of these investigations as no one seems to have any
answers, yet they are all suspects. The point of stagnation for the investigator often forces them to reinterpret and validate all the evidence, while ruling
out any implausible instances. After this state of confusion and reevaluation, a break in the case offers enough of a reprieve for the investigation to
deviate from the path of circumlocution. Personally, the most profound component that peaks my interest in an investigative novel is the internal strife
within the protagonist that incites further confusion and conflicting ideas. The significance of any imperfections within the lead character is that the

There are other characters placed in the story that make you feel for him and give you reasons for him to be innocence, but then there are not only
characters, but facts that make if seems as if he is guilt and this whole story was a waste of time. Why read the story just to know in the end that he
is still guilty? There are many emotions also going on in the story. You feel terrible for the poor old lady who was murdered so you immediately
hate whoever killed her. You then also feel and for Leonard because he keeps telling the readers that in fact he is not guilty, but if he is you will
not feel bad for him at all. You also feel for Mr. Mayherne who is now trying to figure all of this out and goes as far as he can to try and figure out
exactly to the dime what time the murder was at and where everyone was and when everyone was back home and so forth. It seems as if this story
has no end and there is no solution for Leonard. I also believe that after time keeps passing, it becomes harder to remember exactly all of the facts.
Especially for Leonard because his memory could possibly be fading each and every day. I know for certain that as each day goes one it is harder and
harder to remember something from the previous day. That is just how the human brain

Doctor Faustus, Antigone, Everyman, And Christopher Marlowe
When examining techniques, terminology, and themes present in Jacobean theatre it becomes apparent that they had evolved from those of the ancient
Greek and Medieval tradition. Precedences set by Greek thespians in both stagecraft and dramatic writing are utilized and expanded upon in the
theatrical practices of their successors working in the centuries to follow. A comparison of theatrical terminology and stagecraft techniques will
investigate the similarities and differences of Greek, Medieval, and Jacobean theatre. Following, the greek play Antigone by Sophocles will be
compared to the anonymously written medieval miracle play, Everyman, and Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus, in order to explore how Greek
dramatic traditions influenced dramatic writing in these play's respective times. The Greek amphitheatres were similar in construction to modern
theatres, but had their primitive differences. Greek theatres had two main parts: the theatron and the orchestra. The orchestra was a flat, often circular,
area in front of the stage where the chorus would dance, and the theatron, which surrounded the orchestra about в…” of the way, was where the
audience watched the performance. The part of the orchestra not surrounded by the audiences was the skene. The skene is the stage where the lead
actors would perform and it consisted of a back wall where they would sometimes paint scenery (Simon 5). The remanence of these primitive worlds is
still evident today. Modern theatres still

Analysis Of The Play ' Murder At The Mic '
When an arrogant musician is "killed" on stage everyone becomes a suspect.
STORY COMMENTS
MURDER AT THE MIC presents as a classic murder mystery with the ultimate question: who did it? Everyone loves a good mystery. The goal is
clear and the stakes are fairly high. The play offers a cast of offbeat characters, betrayal, secrets, a twist, and a very ironic and delightful ending.
There's definitely a lot to like about the play, but with that said, there's room for additional development.
The opening introduces most of the core characters. Greg is clearly the main character that the play centers on. Greg's first words "shitty" nicely
conveys his personality. Essentially, Greg is supposed to be a "shitty" guy. He seems to have little... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of the video camera works well too. There's a nice cat and mouse exchange between the detective and the usual suspects.
The reveal that the detective is really the video guy makes for a good twist that the audience doesn't see coming. However, consider the idea that once
his wig falls off and they realize who the detective really he, that they try to turn the tables on Hickman and accuse him of being the person sabotaging
the switch and killing Greg. Thus, it's at this point that he makes the reveal that Greg is still alive.
When Greg is revealed to be alive make sure he's condensing to each of the other characters to make the delightful ending twist work even more
effectively when they all conspire to kill him.
The ending is a lot of fun, but with that said, the overall humor could be elevated. It's not the type of play that has laugh–out–loud moments. The tone
is a bit ambiguous. Prior to the death, the tone feels dramatic. However, as the play progresses, it feels more like a dark comedy, which is very fitting
for this type of mystery. While humor is subjective, stronger dark comedy with wittier lines of dialogue would really make this play shine.
Greg feels cocky and entitled. As mentioned, there's room to enhance this. His motivation for the ruse feels a bit unclear. He says it's for a music video.
This doesn't feel like a strong enough motivation. One wonders if he should tell the

Analysis Of Trifles By Minnie Wright
Have you ever wondered what people say about you behind your back or what they think of you what you're not there? This book strongly shows
what other people think of Minnie Wright and their true opinions come through. Trifles is a play written by Susan Glaspell. It is a murder mystery
about who killed John Wright. Towards the end of the story, we come to the conclusion that the murderer was Minnie Wright, John wrights wife.
Minnie Wright took her own husband's life because he had killed the one thing that she had loved most, her bird. She thought as if she needed
revenge on him for doing what he did, this being said she killed him in the same way that he had killed her beloved bird; a rope around the neck. Susan
Glaspell decides to tell this story mainly through the eyes and minds of Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale. While the main plot of the story is about Minnie
Wright and her actions, she never appears in the story because well, she doesn't have to. Susan Glaspell chiefly relies upon the characters in the story
to give the readers and audience a sense of what type of person Minnie Wright is. Readers can sense her presence through the way she and her house
are described. The characters say things like, "here is a nice mess (referring to her house)" (118.) or "she looked queer" (116.) These small statements
can help us form an image of what Minnie Wright is like when she is not even present. Minnie Wright's absence also allows the women to sympathize
with her and therefore makes the women feel obligated to keep her secret. Minnie Wright not being present in the plot allows the woman to solve the
mystery on their own. It also allows them to connect with her more as well as connect with her state of mind. Mrs. Hale says "Not having children
makes less work – but It makes for a quiet house, and Wright out to work all day, and no company when he did come in" (122.) This quote shows
how Mrs. Hale is feeling, she is realizing that Minnie wright must have been very lonely sitting in her house all day with no one and nothing to do.
A few pages later she says "Oh, I wish i'd come over here once in a while! That was a crime! That was a crime! Who's going to punish that?" (125) In
this moment Mrs. Hale in strongly

Boundaries, Symmetry and Continuity in Radcliffe's The...
Below is a passage from I.2 of Radcliffe's The Mysteries of Udolpho concerning the concept of "precepts" in relation to the characters of St. Aubert
and his daughter Emily: I have attempted to teach you from your earliest youth, the duty of self– command [...] not only as it preserves us from the
various and dangerous temptations that call us from rectitude and virtue, but as it limits the indulgences which are termed virtuous, yet which,
extended beyond a certain boundary are vicious...All excess is vicious; even that sorrow, which is amiable in its origin, becomes a selfish and unjust
passion, if indulged at the expense of our duties. [...] The indulgence of excessive grief enervates the mind, and almost incapacitates it for again... Show

This logic of symmetry and deformity is located in the depiction of Nature–a landscaped variety–and the characters' relationships to their natural
environment. The environs of La VallГ©e are characterized by the qualities of the picturesque landscape, and every angle of the house looks out on
some prospect (2–4). In this landscape there is natural symmetry–the improvements that St. Aubert makes to the ground around the chateau are few and
conform to a taste "for the beautiful" (6) that is formed by nature rather than learned (see how St. Aubert conceives of Valancourt [35]). During the tour
through the Pyrenees, many "prospects" are remarked upon, but so too is the absence of a prospect (28–29). Prospects are what make a landscape–it is
from a view large enough to incorporate diverse elements of a scene and a variety of distances that a landscape (comprised of foreground, middle
ground, and a background) emerges. The idea of prospect is involved with the concept of perspective, and perspective (as it relates to the way one
interacts with anything) brings us back to the ideas of taste and precept. But taste, precept, and prospect are in turn all linked to a consciousness of
past, present, and future. Thus St. Aubert, when making "improvements" in his estate or in his daughter is always referencing them to his past
experiences at La Vallee (2, 4), or to his hopes and fears for

One example is, "Now the thrill is gone, got not patience, cause I'm not a doctor." There, he interprets patience as patients, stating he has no
"patients" because he is not a doctor. He is also saying that he has no patience for the events that are going on in his life. In the next few lines he
calls a girl "Mufasa" because she is lying. There, Gambino uses a metaphor to express how he feels about the girl; he calls her Mufasa, a lion.
Lying can also be misheard as "lion"; so in essence, Gambino called her out for lying twice. In the next line, he uses a simile with a play on words
with the Gaza strip. The line begins, "yeah, mi casa su casa, got it stripping like Gaza,"; the Gaza strip is a famous land area in the middle east.
Gambino switches the order of the words and makes strip into a verb. The lines of the song mean that in essence, his home is her home and she
basically makes herself comfortable by stripping down. The verse closes with the lines, "sorry, I'm just scared of the future. Till 3005, I got your
back, we can do this, hold up." At this point, the audience can maybe interpret the lines as him maybe being afraid to be with the girl at that point, he
says that he is scared of the future, and his future is with her. Even though he has her back, he is still hesitant about it because of their

Essay On Roanoke
There are a multitude of mysteries in life, some greater than others. Some mysteries are solvable, and some we can only create solutions for in
both well made and sloppily built theories. America itself has had its fair share of mysteries, some bigger than others, but by far one of the oldest
may be the mysterious conditions surrounding the lost colony of roanoke. In current day North Carolina resides a series of small island; and within
this cluster of islands lives Roanoke. It's name comes from the very mystery that haunts the place, Roanoke Colony. Almost 500 years ago, 100 or so

The second colony fell under the same circumstances, though the hostility between the colonists and natives was more strained. When the third

communications to begin. The hostility fell away when it was realized that White had brought along not only male colonists, but women and children,
including his daughter Eleanor Dare and her husband, Annaise Dare. Her child, Virginia Dare, was the first english child born in the americas (

overpower the significance of the strengths. The one attribute that stood out the most on each side of the spectrum was his love to please God and
his jealousy created by not receiving the same love from God. I believe that it is significant that Cain's weaknesses are shown in the story. It proves a
case where most humans can find relatable and tell of a similar experience, granted that they are not banished and have to live out a life of suffering.

Mithraism Essay
Mithraism
Mithraism is the ancient Roman mystery cult of the god Mithras. Roman worship of Mithras began sometime during the early Roman empire, perhaps
during the late first century of the Common Era (hereafter CE), and flourished from the second through the fourth centuries CE. While it is fairly
certain that Romans encountered worship of the deity Mithras as part of Zoroastrianism in the eastern provinces of the empire, particularly in Asia
Minor (now modern Turkey), the exact origins of cult practices in the Roman cult of Mithras remain controversial (see below). The evidence for this
cult is mostly archaeological, consisting of the remains of mithraic temples, dedicatory inscriptions, and iconographic representations of the god and ...

The theory that Roman Mithraism had its roots in Zoroastrianism was first put forward by Franz Cumont, a Belgian scholar, in his two–volume
publication Textes et monuments figur&eacutes relatifs aux myst&egraveres de Mithra in 1896 and 1899. Cumont compiled a catalogue of every
known mithraic temple, monument, inscription, and literary passage relating to Mithras and claimed on the basis of his study of this body of evidence
that Roman Mithras was, ultimately, Zoroastrian Mithra. Cumont argued by extension that if Roman Mithras had Iranian roots, the cult of Mithraism
must have originated in the eastern provinces of the Roman empire and spread westward with legionaries in the Roman army, merchants from eastern
provinces (often lumped under the broad misnomer "Syrians"), freedmen in the imperial bureaucracy, and slaves.
Cumont himself recognized possible flaws in his theory. The most obvious is that there is little evidence for a Zoroastrian cult of Mithra (Cumont
1956), and certainly none that suggests that Zoroastrian worship of Mithra used the liturgy or the well–devoloped iconography found in the Roman
cult of Mithras. Moreover, few monuments from the Roman cult have been recovered from the very provinces which are thought to have inspired
worship of Mithras (namely the provinces of Asia Minor). Finally, Cumont was aware that the earliest datable evidence for the cult of Mithras came
from the military garrison at Carnuntum in the province of Upper Pannonia on the

The Lake Of The Woods
In the Lake of the Woods is about ghosts, personal and national, and about the impossibility of escaping them. Author Tim O'Brien poured much of
his own likeness into protagonist John Wade. Wade grew up in Minnesota and like O'Brien, he served in Vietnam so he could maintain or get more

Example Of Mystery Shopping

  • 1. Example Of Mystery Shopping Mystery Shopping scams As with most things related to making money online, Mystery Shopping has its share of scams. Many fraudelent promoters send emails or post ads saying it's possible to earn a good living with mystery shopping jobs. If you reply to these ads, you will be directed to their websites where there is information about getting some form of certification or training, access to a job directory or perhaps even a gaurantee of a job. The big problem to have access to all this information you have to pay. A list ofmystery shopping jobs can be found online for free, never pay to get started in this business. Another scam that I have heard about is after being hired as a mystery shopper, people are sent some checks to deposit in their personel accounts. One of their tasks will be to evaluate the money transfer service of companies like Western Union. They are told to wire the money back to their employer. Everything seems normal and the mystery shopper will complete a report. The problem is that the check is a fake and this may take the bank several weeks to discover. Once discovered it will be the person who deposited the check who is responsible for reimbursing the bank. How much can you earn as a mystery shopper When starting, secret shoppers are paid something between $5 and $20. You may recuperate travel expenses, but there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The number of shopping gigs you will be able to do will also depend on where you live. If you are in a city or large town you will be offered more jobs and you could be able to fit in a shop in your lunch break and another on the way home from work. But if you live and work in the sticks you will have to drive to do your shop and unless there is a big town near by you won't make much from mystery ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Summary Of ' Dead Girls Don 't Write Letters `` By Gail Giles Kreena PatelBook Talk For the mystery book talk, I read, "Dead Girls Don't Write Letters" by Gail Giles. The setting takes place in present day Texas throughout the whole novel. The main characters were Sunny Reynolds (14) who was the main detective of the novel, and the younger sister of the dead sister, who died in a fire in New York, but was deeply loved by everyone, Deborah Hallard a girl who looked and pretended to be Jasmine Reynolds (the girl who died), but knew everything about her and her family, and Dan and Lily Reynolds the parents of Sunny and Jasmine. Dan had a drinking problem, and Lily was depressed because of her beloved daughter who was dead, Jasmine. The mystery of the story was when a letter arrived to Sunny's house from her dead sister, two months after her sister passed away. It said that Jasmine was going to come home because she ran away even though she was reported dead. When Jazz arrived at her family's doorstep, everyone besides Lily knew that it wasn't the real Jasmine. They weren't sure who she was, why she was at their home pretending to be someone who she wasn't, and how she knew everything about the Reynold's family and their secrets. The detective in the novel was Sunny Reynolds. She was always trying to find clues about the girl pretending to be her sister, calling people to get as much information as possible, and would even look through the girl's bags even if that risked her getting caught because unlike some people, she had nothing ... • 3. Middle Ages Narrative Essay Day–1 Ok. So today, I woke up on a bed, almost falling down. For a moment, I thought where I was, and remembered that I have traveled back in time to the Middle Ages. I didn't know why I was on a bed, or how. Soon after I have done dressing up, I noticed that there was a little girl right next to the door, peeking in the room. Her sister came into the room, and told me that she found me on this street that people usually don't go. She gave me a bread to eat, while I observe the room. After eating the bread, I asked if I could see their mother. And this was the most surprising. The girl told me that SHE was the mother! I couldn't believe what I've heard, so I asked her again. Same answer. She told me that it was normal to marry early and give birth early. I asked her age, and answered 14. Oh god. I'm 17. She's younger than me and is already married. And given birth. And she said it's normal. I guess medieval girls are so early on stuff. Well the rest of the day was peaceful. Emily was the mother's name and she told me that if I could help them with chores, I could stay. What a nice mom! So, I helped her clean the room up. I also noticed something else. It's normal to eat, sleep, and do other stuff in one room, since there's not enough room. Day–2 Today, I went shopping with Emily to buy food. I noticed a few things while going to the market. I saw this crowd of people looking at something. I peeked in and looked at it. It was awful! Emily told me that they were punishing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Comparison OfThe Boy In The Box? In February 1957, a boy's body was found wrapped in a plaid blanket in the woods off Susquehanna Road in Fox Chase, Philadelphia. The Boy in the Box, which is still unsolved today, is one the most intriguing cases in the Philly area and even in the world. With this being said, many theories arose from this very case. People have been discussing this case through platforms such as podcasts on the internet, shows, and even play offs of the case in television shows. Podcasts are one of the main ways people give ideas, facts, and opinions to a great deal of people. Many podcasts discussing the same case "The Unknown Boy" are similar and can also be very different based on their tone, structure, pacing, and their evidence. Two podcasts that discuss the case are from Unsolved Murders and from Thinking Sideways. They both consist of series of podcasts that discuss different cases and they both had done this very case. They have similarities but also have intriguing differences. The first podcast is by Unsolved Murders: True Crime Stories which is a podcast drama with a modern twist on old time radio that dives into the mystery of true cases and unsolved murders. They discuss cases in an entertaining way on their journey through the crime scene, the investigation and attempt to even "solve the case". The second podcast is from the "Thinking Sideways" podcast series. This series is two guys and one girl with no formal education to guide them, sit down every week to discuss unsolved ... • 5. Types Of The Middle Theater : FAQ About Medieval Theater FAQ about Medieval Theater 1 Q: What type of plays were the most popular and who was the most popular play writer? There were three types of plays that were the most popular. One of them being Mystery plays, which were stories used from the Bible. One play had the priests and monks that were actors and there were four or five different scenes/acts. Another popular type was The Miracle play, which was about a saints life and their actions. And lastly is the Morality plays which taught people about life as told by the rules of the church (Donn). One of the most popular play writers was a woman named Hrosvitha. She made many plays that were popular in the Medieval Times (McDonald–Miranda). 2 Q: Where and how were performances performed? There were two main areas that plays were typically held. One of them being Mansions, which aren't the mansions we know today. Theses mansions were small scenic structures, for example, a throne may be the palace of Pilate. Another main area they were held was a Platea, which is a general acting area, neighboring a mansion. The mansion and platea were loaned from the church services (Trumbull, 2007). 3 Q: What did the costumes, sets, and specials effects look like? There were two different kinds of stages the plays were performed on, fixed and moveable. (Trumbull, 2007). Churches provided the costumes for the actors. Actors in liturgical dramas wore church clothing, but this slowly converted overtime. Actors often wore masks, which came in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Quotations Of Biblical Allusions In The Theme Of Bartleby When the lawyer calls for Bartleby in order for them to examine the copies together Bartleby responses by saying, "I would prefer not to" (11). The lawyer describes his feelings by saying, "for a few moments I was turned into a pillar of salt, standing at the head of my seated column of clerks" (11). This is an allusion to the story of lot in which god came to Lot, who was currently staying in Sodom and Gomorrah, and told him and his wife to flee and to not look back. As the city was destroyed Lot and his wife proceeded to flee, but Lot's wife ended up looking back causing her to turn into a pillar a salt. Here the lawyer is comparing himself to Lot's wife in the sense that they are frozen in place. However the lawyer starts by saying "for a few moments, meaning that this effect on him would not last forever like Lot's wife's effect did. Since it is thought that Lot's Wife looked back because her daughters were still in the house it suggests that the lawyer has some type of care for Bartleby that caused him to feel like a pillar of salt. By the narrator using quotations of biblical allusions to describe his feeling towards Bartleby it frame a story by creating a clash in the narrator's mind as to how he feels about Bartleby and whether or not he should get rid of him. When the lawyer finds out Bartleby never leaves the office and has made it his home he says, "Before, I had never experienced aught but a not unpleasing sadness. The bond of common humanity now drew me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Beginning A History Of New Zealand 's Ufo Activity the Beginning... A history of New Zealand's UFO activity BY TONY LUCAS 12/01/2014 UFO SIGHTINGS Historically, most of the Northern Hemisphere holds the attention of many when it comes to paranormal activity, UFO's, Cryptozoology and strange phenomena. UFO What I hope to bring forth in these articles is the often not heard of Phenomena that is just as prevalent in the Southern Hemisphere. As an Independent UFO Investigator myself I will however ask the readers forgiveness if I often indulge myself in that field. Being a New Zealander, it is often not recognized that New Zealand has many unheard of mysteries and its fair share of UFO activity. We also have our own version of Bigfoot known as the Moehau, also a mystery otter like creature, alien big cats, and more. Our nearest neighbor, Australia also has its fair share of UFO sightings, Criptids (animals that are not known or presumed extinct), and strange phenomena. As a UFO Investigator, I like to make quite clear how easy it is to be fooled. Often, what we think we see is not what it appears to be. In the case of UFO's, weather balloons, the planet Venus, satellites and other man–made phenomena are often mistaken for UFOs. My belief is that once you have eliminated all the obvious and, sometimes the not so obvious, whatever you are left with must be the answer. New Zealand has a long history of UFO activity beginning in the late 19th century with the airship flap of the period, when there was a rash of sightings of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Representation Of Cain In The Bible In the Biblical story of Cain and Abel from the book Genesis, there is no doubt that Cain was the central character. It was Cain, who got so angry, when God preferred Abel's gift over Cain's, it was also him, who had a conversation with God about the role of sin in man's life and at the end, it was him who killed his own brother, but on the other hand lived a long life full of children. This story is mainly about Cain, so is Steinbeck's East of Eden. In the first generation of the Trask family, Charles is considered as Cain representative. Charles is stronger, faster and more intelligent than his brother Adam. When growing up, he won all the contests he had with his Adam, so when he got bored with him, he found competition amongst others. At one time, when Adam and Charles... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Neither Charles nor Caleb is described as pure evil, since many times throughout the novel they show genuine signs of goodness. In the first generation of the Trasks, it is Charles, although younger, who protects his older brother against bullies and their own father (East of Eden 26). After Cyrus dies, when Adam comes back home and they first talk about their father, Adam says that he didn't love their father and that he hated him. Charles starts crying and he explains to Adam that Cyrus loved Adam more than anything in the world; also he mentions the gift they gave their father and how he loved the puppy Adam gave him and at the end, it was Charles who says that he loved him, even after the rejection (East of Eden 85). Caleb, although he considers himself responsible for the death of his brother Aron, loves both Aron and Adam; he even offers to work at the ranch to put Aron through college (East of Eden ... • 9. The Importance Of Mimes In The Roman Empire In the Roman Empire, in its early years there was a great confrontation between the Romans and the Christians. At this point in time Christianity was a new and growing religion. These Christians believed that their God was the only God. They didn't create idols of Him or build Him temples as the Romans did to their gods. These Christians also had another problem with the Romans and that was their theatre. They didn't have a problem with comedies or tragedies but with Mimes. According to the text it says that "Because some mimes included sex and violence as part of the performance and because many of them mocked Christianity, Christian writers and believers demanded – unsuccessfully– the outlawing of the theatre of their time, which is to say, mime and pantomime." They were unsuccessful in the outlawing of mimes and pantomimes but in 313 CE the Emperor Constantine issued the Edict of Milan and proclaimed religious tolerance to the Christians in the empire. The Christians were unable to hinder the mime movement and it became even bigger with other entertainment becoming just as excessive as mimes were considered to be. The plays of Hroswitha and the liturgical manual of Ethelwold are two events that mark the reentry of theatre and drama into Western Europe. Hroswitha was a religious leader and a noblewoman who wrote plays in Latin. Her plays celebrated "the laudable chastity of holy maidens." These plays were performed at the court and at the monastery. • 12. Essay about Lessons in Leadership in Demian Lessons in Leadership in Demian In Demian, Hesse uses a comparison to the Biblical story of Cain and Abel to convey his ideas about those who are different. The idea arises again and again, causing the reader to look at it from a very unique perspective. Through this comparison, the reader begins to see the mark of Cain as a positive symbol –– as the mark of those who would lead the world into the future of mankind, without fear. When Emil Sinclair first meets Max Demian, he sees that Demian is not like anyone he has ever known. Unconsciously, he views Demian as having a mark –– something that sets him apart from the others. This is important in explaining how both Demian and Sinclair are so separate from the others: they bear this metaphorical mark. This explains, also, the characters in the book toward which Sinclair is drawn –– Frau Eva, Pistorius, Beatrice; all people whom are different from the herd. This notion of superiority is supported constantly throughout the novel, but never quite so clearly as when Demian demonstrates his inherently stronger will. He somehow scares Kromer, Sinclair's childhood tormentor, away; he stares down the Confirmation class' teacher in order to sit wherever he likes. Being so much stronger and bolder than others, he is capable of exerting his will over theirs. They write novels such as Demian and The Fountainhead; they sculpt statues like the "Madonna della Pietá." They are wise, intelligent, and bold. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Subgenre Of The Genfield Genre The thriller genre has undergone many changes and phases throughout the past, which is evident in the changes within its subgenres, each of which has its own distinctions. Some subgenres of the thriller genre include the detective thriller and the suspense thriller. Alfred Hitchcock revolutionized the thriller genre during his lifetime. In fact, his work defined a whole subgenre of the thriller: the suspense thriller. The thriller genre has evolved and developed over the history of film and has changed throughout the postclassical and modernist periods. In the postclassical period, films would focus more on developing the character of the protagonist rather than the antagonist. The backstory and motives of the antagonist would not be a driving force in a film during that period. In the postclassical period, the elements of good and evil in the films are usually very distinct as well with little to no grey zone. However, as time passed, there was a transition from the postclassical period to the modernist period which also brought about changes in some of the aspects of cinema. During the modernist era, there was a greater emphasis on the antagonists of a film. Films would oftentimes give antagonists some more attention and backstory than they did before. There was also not as clear of a distinction between good and evil; there was oftentimes a grey zone which allows the audience to feel empathy for the antagonist. This newfound focus on the antagonists can be seen in Murder ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mabon : The Tale Of Lobeth, The Welsh God History/Mythology – Celtic/Welsh: The tale of Mabon ap Modron, the Welsh God, (the "great son of the great mother"), also known as the Son of Light, the Young Son, or Divine Youth, is celebrated. The Equinox is also the birth of Mabon, from his mother Modron, the Guardian of the Outerworld, the Healer, the Protector, the Earth. Mabon was taken after he is a mere three nights old (some variations of the legend say he is taken after three years). Through the wisdom of the living animals – the Stag, Blackbird, Owl, Eagle and Salmon – Mabon is freed from his mysterious captivity. All the while Mabon had rested within his mother's womb; a place of nurturing and challenge. With strength and lessons gained within the magickal Outerworld (Modron's womb), Mabon is soon reborn as his mother's Champion, the Son of Light, wielding the strength and wisdom acquired during his captivity. Also, (from a variation in legend) the Equinox is the day of the year when the god of light, Lugh, is defeated by the god of darkness, Lugh's twin and alter–ego, Tanist. The night conquers day. The tales state that the Equinox is the only day which Lugh is vulnerable and the possibility of his defeat exists. • 15. East Of Eden Character Analysis The novel, East of Eden, by John Steinbeck references to the bible quite a bit when describing some of the characters. Steinbeck refers to the story of Cain and Abel, two brothers who lived in peace until Cain slaughtered Abel. One day the two boys were to offer sacrifices to god; Abel offers his best lamb and Cain offers grain to god. God prefers Abel's gift over Cain's and in a jealous fit of anger Cain murders Abel. After this God comes to talk to Cain about what he had just done and in doing so he banishes Cain to "the land of Nod, east of Eden"(Genesis 4:16). Steinbeck uses a few Cain like characters throughout the novel to illustrate the reality of humanity; jealousy and favorability shapes our society and the way people act. There is no place to escape one's baser nature besides death's home; steinbeck shows this through Cal Trask, Charles Trask, and Tom Hamilton. Cal Trask is the most prominent Cain like figure because he has always been the twin who was looked down upon and he causes his brothers death with an act of jealousy exactly like Cain did to Abel. When Adam says,"You'll have to give it back" Cal is torn apart and in a state of jealousy and hatred towards his brother(Steinbeck 540). He knows that Aron is the preferred twin and this really makes him upset. This exact thing happens in the bible when Abel's gift is the one God likes more of the two. This builds up jealousy in Cain and pushes him to the point where he murders Abel. Also when Cal says,"Oh, it's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Cain And Abel In The Bible The story of Cain and Abel in the book of Genesis is a great illustration of frustration–induced criminality. According to Berkowitz, "delay or blockage may generate intense anger or even a violent response, if the frustrated individual believes that type of response will eliminate the interference" (Bartol & Bartol, 2016, p. 94). In Genesis 4:4–5, Cain's perception that Abel was blocking God's approval of him is illustrated, "and the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So, Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell" (New Revised Standard Version). Upon determining that Abel stood in the way of him being able to obtain approval in the eyes of God, Cain sought to eliminate him. Men, it seems, commit the Seven Deadly Sins far too regularly, and their only concern seems to be their own pleasure. Angered by this casual manner humans have adopted toward Him, God decides a reckoning is in order. He summons his "mighty messenger" Death, eerily and effectively personified for the audience members. God commands the dark figure to go forth to the Earth and take Everyman on a "pilgrimage" he will never escape. At the beginning of the play, there is no doubt that this pilgrimage is the road to hell and eternal damnation. The character of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By having Everyman interact with these conceptualized characters, the author externalizes his inner conflict. Perhaps this technique seems too obvious or almost condescending to our more literate age, but whatever the case, it effectively conveys the central message of the play. A consequence of this technique is a stage full of characters with whom we cannot identify. it is difficult for an audience member, medieval or otherwise, to identify with a character who is a concept without individuality. The uniqueness we associate with humans can not be found here, as the characters represented do not represent actual human beings. Even Everyman, the primary narrative agent, is problematic. Although we feel for him, we can only do so at a distance. He is not one of us, he is all of us. Obviously, the play is a product of the Christian religion. Most important among the ideas and recurring themes presented in this passage is God's statement: "Charity do they clean forget." Too concerned for their own worldly possessions, human beings have forgotten their duties to the less fortunate. This prompts God's call for a "reckoning," which Death readily carries out. God also states that "Every man liveth so after his own pleasure." In fact, later in the play, Everyman confronts Goods, the personification of all that he has owned during his life. • 19. The Mystery Of Detective Fiction Detective Fiction exists as one of the most popular fiction genres of all–time. Detective fiction uses facts and other details to solve a mystery which surrounds a perplexing murder in a novel. Many people gain excitement over a challenge or a test of knowledge when solving a puzzle. A puzzle may baffle or confuse the puzzler; therefore, the puzzler likes to solve the puzzle before the ending. People enjoy the experience of sheer satisfaction of solving a mystery before ending the literary work. Curiosity describes itself as "the desire to learn or know about anything; inquisitiveness" (Dictionary). Curiosity somehow leads people on the path to try to solve a mystery or a puzzle. It remains a question of why people desire to solve a puzzle. Maybe their inquisitive mind drives them to solve the puzzle or a mystery. Often after the reader finishes reading a detective novel and solving the mystery before the reveal of the murderer, they find this satisfying to their curiosity. Thus they begin to continue reading more mystery fictional novels. The birth of detective fiction surfaced around the "19th century" (Gaines). "The Moonstone" novel considered the first detective novel written (Sahni). The novel created by Wilkie Collins established the ground rules for detective novels. Before the detective fiction surfaced, many novels conveyed the murderer as the innocent one, instead of the victim as the innocent one. These works of fiction, unfortunately did not ... When Cain and Abel present gifts to God, God favors Abel's gift. Cain grows jealous and kills his brother out of jealousy. Though similar to Cain, John Steinbeck uses the choices Cal makes to contrast his character to Cain in the Bible and to demonstrate that, despite being evil, people can choose their course in life. Cal is similar to the Biblical character Cain in many ways. Both Cal and Cain are born to men named Adam and both have brothers who are favored. Suspense accumulates as the protagonist and reader alike must process the crimes and interpret all the evidence presented so an apt denouement can resolve who has committed the murder and what their motives are. As the investigation progresses, conflicts inevitably arise and pose adversity for the protagonist as they must determine if their inclinations are correct or their focus has been leading them astray in the process. Uncertainty plagues the mind of those who are emotionally and professionally invested with the case. This aspect has always been engaging because the internal conflicts the protagonist faces increases the drama of these investigations as no one seems to have any answers, yet they are all suspects. The point of stagnation for the investigator often forces them to reinterpret and validate all the evidence, while ruling out any implausible instances. After this state of confusion and reevaluation, a break in the case offers enough of a reprieve for the investigation to deviate from the path of circumlocution. Personally, the most profound component that peaks my interest in an investigative novel is the internal strife within the protagonist that incites further confusion and conflicting ideas. The ending is a lot of fun, but with that said, the overall humor could be elevated. It's not the type of play that has laugh–out–loud moments. The tone is a bit ambiguous. Prior to the death, the tone feels dramatic. However, as the play progresses, it feels more like a dark comedy, which is very fitting for this type of mystery. One wonders if he should tell the ... • 31. Analysis Of Trifles By Minnie Wright Have you ever wondered what people say about you behind your back or what they think of you what you're not there? This book strongly shows what other people think of Minnie Wright and their true opinions come through. Trifles is a play written by Susan Glaspell. It is a murder mystery about who killed John Wright. Towards the end of the story, we come to the conclusion that the murderer was Minnie Wright, John wrights wife. Minnie Wright took her own husband's life because he had killed the one thing that she had loved most, her bird. She thought as if she needed revenge on him for doing what he did, this being said she killed him in the same way that he had killed her beloved bird; a rope around the neck. Susan Glaspell decides to tell this story mainly through the eyes and minds of Mrs. Peters and Mrs. Hale. While the main plot of the story is about Minnie Wright and her actions, she never appears in the story because well, she doesn't have to. Susan Glaspell chiefly relies upon the characters in the story to give the readers and audience a sense of what type of person Minnie Wright is. Readers can sense her presence through the way she and her house are described. The characters say things like, "here is a nice mess (referring to her house)" (118.) or "she looked queer" (116.) These small statements can help us form an image of what Minnie Wright is like when she is not even present. Minnie Wright's absence also allows the women to sympathize with her and therefore makes the women feel obligated to keep her secret. Minnie Wright not being present in the plot allows the woman to solve the mystery on their own. It also allows them to connect with her more as well as connect with her state of mind. Mrs. Hale says "Not having children makes less work – but It makes for a quiet house, and Wright out to work all day, and no company when he did come in" (122.) This quote shows how Mrs. Hale is feeling, she is realizing that Minnie wright must have been very lonely sitting in her house all day with no one and nothing to do. A few pages later she says "Oh, I wish i'd come over here once in a while! That was a crime! That was a crime! Who's going to punish that?" (125) In this moment Mrs. Hale in strongly ... • 32. Boundaries, Symmetry and Continuity in Radcliffe's The... Below is a passage from I.2 of Radcliffe's The Mysteries of Udolpho concerning the concept of "precepts" in relation to the characters of St. Aubert and his daughter Emily: I have attempted to teach you from your earliest youth, the duty of self– command [...] not only as it preserves us from the various and dangerous temptations that call us from rectitude and virtue, but as it limits the indulgences which are termed virtuous, yet which, extended beyond a certain boundary are vicious...All excess is vicious; even that sorrow, which is amiable in its origin, becomes a selfish and unjust passion, if indulged at the expense of our duties. [...] The indulgence of excessive grief enervates the mind, and almost incapacitates it for again... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This logic of symmetry and deformity is located in the depiction of Nature–a landscaped variety–and the characters' relationships to their natural environment. The environs of La VallГ©e are characterized by the qualities of the picturesque landscape, and every angle of the house looks out on some prospect (2–4). In this landscape there is natural symmetry–the improvements that St. Aubert makes to the ground around the chateau are few and conform to a taste "for the beautiful" (6) that is formed by nature rather than learned (see how St. Aubert conceives of Valancourt [35]). During the tour through the Pyrenees, many "prospects" are remarked upon, but so too is the absence of a prospect (28–29). Prospects are what make a landscape–it is from a view large enough to incorporate diverse elements of a scene and a variety of distances that a landscape (comprised of foreground, middle ground, and a background) emerges. The idea of prospect is involved with the concept of perspective, and perspective (as it relates to the way one interacts with anything) brings us back to the ideas of taste and precept. But taste, precept, and prospect are in turn all linked to a consciousness of past, present, and future. Thus St. Aubert, when making "improvements" in his estate or in his daughter is always referencing them to his past experiences at La Vallee (2, 4), or to his hopes and fears for ... One example is, "Now the thrill is gone, got not patience, cause I'm not a doctor." There, he interprets patience as patients, stating he has no "patients" because he is not a doctor. He is also saying that he has no patience for the events that are going on in his life. In the next few lines he calls a girl "Mufasa" because she is lying. There, Gambino uses a metaphor to express how he feels about the girl; he calls her Mufasa, a lion. Lying can also be misheard as "lion"; so in essence, Gambino called her out for lying twice. In the next line, he uses a simile with a play on words with the Gaza strip. The line begins, "yeah, mi casa su casa, got it stripping like Gaza,"; the Gaza strip is a famous land area in the middle east. Gambino switches the order of the words and makes strip into a verb. The lines of the song mean that in essence, his home is her home and she basically makes herself comfortable by stripping down. The verse closes with the lines, "sorry, I'm just scared of the future. Till 3005, I got your back, we can do this, hold up." At this point, the audience can maybe interpret the lines as him maybe being afraid to be with the girl at that point, he says that he is scared of the future, and his future is with her. • 34. Essay On Roanoke There are a multitude of mysteries in life, some greater than others. Some mysteries are solvable, and some we can only create solutions for in both well made and sloppily built theories. America itself has had its fair share of mysteries, some bigger than others, but by far one of the oldest may be the mysterious conditions surrounding the lost colony of roanoke. In current day North Carolina resides a series of small island; and within this cluster of islands lives Roanoke. It's name comes from the very mystery that haunts the place, Roanoke Colony. Almost 500 years ago, 100 or so men, women, and children disappeared somewhere over the course of 3 years. Among these colonists were Eleanor Dare and her daughter, the first english child to be born in what would be modern day... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second colony fell under the same circumstances, though the hostility between the colonists and natives was more strained. When the third expedition finally came around, it was led not by Sir Walter Raleigh, but instead by english artist John White ( Ancient–Origins.net; Encyclopediavirginia.org ). It was at this point the tensions between the colonists and the natives relaxed enough for relatively friendly communications to begin. The hostility fell away when it was realized that White had brought along not only male colonists, but women and children, including his daughter Eleanor Dare and her husband, Annaise Dare. Her child, Virginia Dare, was the first english child born in the americas ( history.com ). With their relations greatly improving with local natives, it seemed as though the english colony of Roanoke was faring much better than its predecessors. Unfortunately, not unlike the previous colonies, they began to suffer from a severe lack of resources. In the year 1587, John White left Roanoke and sailed back to england in hopes of returning with more supplies. His departure, however, occurred during a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Cain's Weaknesses In The Story Of Cain ' Cain expresses various weaknesses and strengths throughout the story of himself and his brother. Within the story, his weaknesses seemed to overpower the significance of the strengths. The one attribute that stood out the most on each side of the spectrum was his love to please God and his jealousy created by not receiving the same love from God. I believe that it is significant that Cain's weaknesses are shown in the story. It proves a case where most humans can find relatable and tell of a similar experience, granted that they are not banished and have to live out a life of suffering. Out of all the characters from the Hebrew Bible, the noblest seemed to be Noah. This is because of his legendary actions of saving two of each animal species ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Mithraism Essay Mithraism Mithraism is the ancient Roman mystery cult of the god Mithras. Roman worship of Mithras began sometime during the early Roman empire, perhaps during the late first century of the Common Era (hereafter CE), and flourished from the second through the fourth centuries CE. While it is fairly certain that Romans encountered worship of the deity Mithras as part of Zoroastrianism in the eastern provinces of the empire, particularly in Asia Minor (now modern Turkey), the exact origins of cult practices in the Roman cult of Mithras remain controversial (see below). The evidence for this cult is mostly archaeological, consisting of the remains of mithraic temples, dedicatory inscriptions, and iconographic representations of the god and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theory that Roman Mithraism had its roots in Zoroastrianism was first put forward by Franz Cumont, a Belgian scholar, in his two–volume publication Textes et monuments figur&eacutes relatifs aux myst&egraveres de Mithra in 1896 and 1899. Cumont compiled a catalogue of every known mithraic temple, monument, inscription, and literary passage relating to Mithras and claimed on the basis of his study of this body of evidence that Roman Mithras was, ultimately, Zoroastrian Mithra. Cumont argued by extension that if Roman Mithras had Iranian roots, the cult of Mithraism must have originated in the eastern provinces of the Roman empire and spread westward with legionaries in the Roman army, merchants from eastern provinces (often lumped under the broad misnomer "Syrians"), freedmen in the imperial bureaucracy, and slaves. Cumont himself recognized possible flaws in his theory. The most obvious is that there is little evidence for a Zoroastrian cult of Mithra (Cumont 1956), and certainly none that suggests that Zoroastrian worship of Mithra used the liturgy or the well–devoloped iconography found in the Roman cult of Mithras. Moreover, few monuments from the Roman cult have been recovered from the very provinces which are thought to have inspired worship of Mithras (namely the provinces of Asia Minor). Finally, Cumont was aware that the earliest datable evidence for the cult of Mithras came from the military garrison at Carnuntum in the province of Upper Pannonia on the ... Our instinctive nature to crave unpredictability is often satisfied through crime films whether it is through fear, thrill, perplexity, mystification, disgust, horror, amazement, shock, or even offence. So what is it exactly that constitutes the quintessential crime film? People find themselves being transfixed by this popular medium, forming an addiction to the unfolding and prodigious plots, sharp protagonists and often the less anticipated outcome. As a crime film fanatic myself I can assure you that these elements are crucial in intensifying the overall impact it has on you as a viewer. I am aware that some claims have been made ... With evidence against her being too compelling she is convicted of her husband's murder and sent to jail – later making the discovery that the in fact her husband remains alive and framed her for his own murder. Enlightened of the term 'double jeopardy' by an inmate – 'nobody can be convicted twice for the same crime' her now determined and revenge driven character sets out on a pursuit to locate her husband, with the resort of killing him being available in order to retrieve her son back. The collaborative nature of film–making is especially highlighted in Beresford's production with his decisions in film techniques aiding the overall presentation as well as pace of the plot. In the initial scene where the first action takes place and Libby awakes to trails of blood we are provided with a long, fixed shot of the bed seen under deck with little lighting. These shots introduce the motif of unmotivated camera movement and with slow transitions of frame we begin to see close–ups which single out important details. • 38. The Cult Of Mithras And The Roman Empire We may think that that cult origin by the fact that was taken from relevant scholars, but the early development has remained consistently disputed. The Cult of Mithras began in the first century and it was invented by the Roman Empire. When we think about the first century AD, Christianity is almost very invisible during this time. The cult of Mithras' development is mysterious. This religion is invented by the Italians. Mithras provides members with sense of salvation if they proceed through the seven stages of initiation, because the important aspect of the cult is that they must be successful, and have spiritual bonding with their gods. If they do not success, they will face some consequences, but members who follow this path will be rewarded and be offered compensation. In addition, archaeological findings show that the Cult of Mithras does stay the same from the beginning of first century to the end of fourth century AD. Archaeological evidence of the cult only depends on the materials that existed duringRoman Empire. One of the most important types of evidence that the archaeological record shows is the nature and form of where these men worship, 'a Mithraeum'. Much of this worship buildings can be found in parts of Europe and they are mostly underground in a cave and are constructed below an existing building. The first Mithraea and written first appear at the same point in time, and clearly form part of the same cult even though they are found in geographically ... • 39. The Lake Of The Woods In the Lake of the Woods is about ghosts, personal and national, and about the impossibility of escaping them. Author Tim O'Brien poured much of his own likeness into protagonist John Wade. Wade grew up in Minnesota and like O'Brien, he served in Vietnam so he could maintain or get more love from his peers and family. Like O'Brien, he likely committed some wartime sins and like O'Brien, he cannot escape the past. However we see a key difference between the two mean as O'Brien confronts his personal demons through writing and admitting publicly his faults, while Wade prefers to suppress the past and at making all disagreeable memories disappear. The pervasive theme of disappearance is perhaps the most important motif of the novel. Wade, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example in Vietnam, Sorcerer made entire villages vanish with a few magic words into a walkie talkie and heavy explosives; after the graphic depictions of the My Lai slaughter Wade even manages to disappear his name from the official platoon roster. This attitude continues after the war when Sorcerer turns back into John Wade, where in the United States, Wade uses this magical trickery as a politician. He continues his manipulation and ambition until he is on the verge of winning a seat in the United States Senate when memories of the Vietnam secrets he's buried deep inside his mind surface years later. The discovery and news reports of his participation in the My Lai slaughter ended up being the root cause of his election loss. Through small glimpses O'Brien reveals Wade's past to the reader. The novel opens in its present timeframe (1986) to John and his wife Kathy, who have retreated to the Lake of the Woods in the northern Minnesota wilderness after the election defeat.
