Observation Of Court Observation
Maricopa County Superior Court Observation
Social Work is a complex and very diverse field with many options to work in. Many social workers
find themselves going to court to advocate for their clients. Others may consider working with the
court directly. As an observer of a court it is important to notice the individuals involved, the
accessibility of the court, the parties involved, and personal reflections that one perceives.
Description
Court
I attended the Maricopa County Superior Court located at 222 E Javelina Ave, Mesa, AZ 85210. I
went on Wednesday December 6, 2017 from 1pm to 5pm. I attended both the criminal court in room
202 and family court in room 301. In the criminal court, I observed 9 different cases and in the
family court only 1 case. In the criminal courtroom, the Judge was Judge Barth and the state
prosecutor was James Blair for all the cases. The public defenders (PD) were different for most all
the cases except some cases had the same PD in which none of them had more that 2 offenders
assigned to them at that day. The PD included, Resario Spaccaferro, Josephine Hallum, Kurt Harris,
Asario Backafera, Robert Duffy, and Brian Gardner. In the family court only the petitioner (the
mom) had an attorney Charles Brown, and the respondent (the dad) represented himself. All
attorneys and PD were dressed in suits and the judges of course were in their black robes. The state
prosecutor was also in a suit but had khaki pants and a dark navy blazer.
Ease of Access
Walking up I noticed there was a giant white tubing in the middle of the parking lot that was draped
over the wall and the court had orange cones blocking the handicap ramp. Coming out this obstacle
was no longer there. However, there is only one ramp and could have been a huge issue for someone
who needed ADA access to the courtroom. It looked as if it was a fire hose but no water or fire truck
was in sight. Additionally, there is a bus stop behind the court house in front of the juvenile court
house. This makes it very easy for someone to access the courthouse through public transportation.
The surrounding neighborhood is primarily businesses. The old department of Motor Vehicle is still
there along with Community Bridges

Also, phoenix have many industries, the industries will release many toxic gases to hurt human's
body and let the climate change.
When Phoenix continues business as usual it is bound to suffer some impacts in future. One effect is
that there will be the destruction of the ozone layer exposing the citizens to the dangerous rays of the
sun. This would later turn to causing the destruction of crops grown after being exposed too much
heat. This is what is commonly known as global warming caused by the emission of gas by the
industries. This large population if it will not control the transportation sector then the gas emitted
by the vehicles will increase leading to acidic rain which is not favorable for growing crops. If the
city does not come up with proper drainage system, then this means that waste will be lying
everywhere, and this will cause a climatic change. Failure to change business as usual in the city can
lead to extreme weather as well as climate change.
The city however can be built to increase resiliency. One strategy is by building awareness. Holding
a civic education would be one effective way to increasing resiliency. Tell the citizen they should
less drive the vehicles to the place what they can essay arrived. They should use the public transport
such as bus to help the city increase resiliency. Also, they can use bike or skateboard to go to the

Health Care Access in Arizona Recently the Untied States top priority has been to provide accessible
and affordable health care to every American. Those that lack access to coverage find it much more
difficult to seek proper treatment and when they do they maybe left with astronomical medical bills.
The CommanWealth Fund found that one–third or thirty three percent of Americans forgo health
care because of costs and one–fifth or twenty percent are thus left with medical bills that have
problems being able to pay. The federal government, through the Affordable Care Act (2010), has
mandated that every person have health coverage in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Governor Brewer also planned on taxing hospitals in order to receive funds for the program. Her
reasoning in doing so is because Arizona already charges a two percent insurance premium tax and a
provider tax on nursing homes (Roy, A. 2013). She also feels that by expanding Medicaid, hospitals
will start to receive payment for services that would have otherwise not been paid for by those who
are uninsured. For those adults with children that are not eligible for Medicaid but their income is
not enough for private insurance, KidsCare was an option until it froze in January 2010 due to a
cost–cutting effort. KidsCare is a state sponsored insurance program for low–income families that is
part of the federal Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Arizona is currently the only state
that does not have a CHIP program which forces families that were on the program to partake in the
health care exchange and pay for private insurance or forgo health coverage and be uninsured
(Whiteman, M., 2014). The number of children covered at the time of the program freeze went from
45,000 to about 2,000, which was a ninety–five percent drop (Whiteman, M., 2014). Governor Jan
Brewer proposed to restore coverage to thousand of children through KidsCare II, where Phoenix
Children's Hospital, Maricopa Integrated Health System, and the University of Arizona Health
Network would pull money together and receive extra federal funds. The federal funds that the

Arizona became the 48th state February 14, 1912. This state is very populated. It has over 5 million
people. Arizona has something that is known as the four corners. One person can be in four states at

copper production. The amount of copper on the roof of the capitol building is equivalent to
4,800,000 pennies. In 1953 after the copper mines closed there was as few as 50 people in Arizona.

Phoenix Arizona became Phoenix is 1866 because it supplied hay for camp McDowell.
The Grand Canyon Flaming Gorge got its name because the walls are red and orange and look likes
flames. The grand canyon was formed by mostly water, ice and wind. Nobody really knows because
the grand canyon is located in the desert. In the desert you don't find much water or ice. The plants
that grow in the Grand Canyon their roots are right below the soil because when it rains the roots
have to get as much water as possible to grow. When it rains the water comes down in torrents,
which also means violently rushing streams. It can move just about anything out of its way.
When this is happening it can take out cars, trucks, buses and sometimes–small houses. All this
water flows down to the Colorado River. This is more like a fast flowing concrete because after all
the raining and water flow the ground gets so hot that it just hardens into one block like concrete.
The second most destructive thing is ice. When it gets cold out especially towards the northern part
of the Grand Canyon the rain seeps in between the rock and freezes. Once the water freezes the
rocks split apart and causing the them to fall. The rocks fall down the mountainside hitting other
rocks and whatever gets in the way. When this happens it causes the rocks to hit other rocks and
have a wall of rocks come tumbling down. The rocks that are found here are

Summary #1 Aviation–History.com North American Aviation, a company that manufactures aircraft,
got an order from the British for Curtiss P–40 fighter planes; they needed planes for the inevitable
war ahead. However, the president of North American had an idea for a new fighter, called the P–51
Mustang, with an Allison V–1710–39 engine. Without the engine, and with the help of experienced
workers, a prototype was built in 117 days. It flew six weeks after the prototype was finished and
immediately outperformed the existing fighter planes. One of its most extraordinary features was its
improved wing design. It strayed from the regular wing measurements and thickness, resulting in a

Its first combat victory was on September 1st, 1943, when a squadron shot down the Japanese

were 22 pilots with 11+ kills.
Summary #3 Encyclopedia of Military Aircraft
There was a prototype order put in on June 30, 1941, even before the Pearl Harbor attack, for the
F6F Hellcat. When it was finished, changes were made so that it could counter the Japanese Zero
fighter plane. When finished, this naval fighter quickly replaced the Wildcat, it had a big role to play
in all U.S. naval ops. The Lend–Lease Act saw a number of Hellcats also get sent to Britain. In the
battle of the Philippine Sea the Japanese launched an enormous attack of 328 fighters on a much
smaller portion of our Hellcats. 220 Zeros were shot down and only 16 Hellcats met the same fate.
That battle was supposed to be a turkey shoot, if so, then the turkeys won. That battle goes to show
just how powerful the Hellcats were. Throughout the war they were one of the U.S.'s top naval

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funded "Living River" program, that was created by
the Sonoran Institute, has the goal to enhance the wetland ecosystems that are located in the lower
Santa Cruz River and enhance the comprehension of the wetland conditions as well as increase the
knowledge of the importance of the wetlands to the public (Pima County Arizona, 2017c). Along
with the EPA, the Regional Optimization Master Plan (ROMP) is also involved in this program.
ROMP is an important environmental factor because it is working towards better water quality,
clarity, and an enhanced environment for wildlife. It has done this by upgrading the two main
wastewater treatment plants that release to the Lower Santa Cruz River (Pima County Arizona,
2017c). ROMP has been successful with treating the wastewater and has been a very important
contribute to making this water better for the environment and the community. On average, Pima

The UV index being 6.5 is much higher than the average index in the United States which is 4.3

The corsair was introduced in World War II it was the most feared airplane in the sky's. Its known by

The corsair earned a fearsome name, not only as a fighter but also a bomber. At sea the Corsair shot

For it was made to be practically bullet proof. The hole airframe was a one of a kind structure. Many
engineers argued over how exactly you can put such a massive powerplant for the size of a plane it
was installed in. It was a almost impractical goal. Chance Vought team battled to figure out the best
possible design. It couldn't just work it had to be strong, reliable, and untouchable. Many
considerations were to take in when creating this aircraft. For one of the most challenging parts of
this build was the propeller of its time it was larger than any one before on that size of aircraft it had
a 13ft long propeller. Vought team had to find a way to clear such a massive propeller. So the
Engineers made many design trying to find perfection. Many failed some worked but with the
combination of all ideas the landing gear with bent wing was created. Its swept wings with high
angle bend made it look like a segal in flight, the Vought team came upon the idea so they could
raise the aircraft another 3ft giving it a total 16ft 1 inch in from floor level. The landing gear
underneath the swept wing was created to be sleek as possible. When the landing gear was designed
they look for the most aerodynamic design. Instead of a traditional gear where it folds inward
towards the fuselage or outward towards the wing tip. The landing gear would sweep straight back

The University Of Arizona, Arizona
University of Arizona is one of the greatest school not only in the state of Arizona but also in the
whole US nation. There were so many magnificent people who graduated from this amazing
University, and because of the magic of this college, some of them choose to live in this beautiful
city after they graduated. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to be a wild cat and interview one of the
senior wildcat: Anna Marie Mesa who attended the UA in the fall semester of 1964. Ms. Mesa is one
of my best friends' grandma, she was one of the eldest wildcat that I know. After she got in the
University of Arizona, in addition of excitement, she felt more honorable because she was the first
one went to college in her whole family. One of the things she remembered often even now was that
her full time tuition in 1964 was only $93 for fifteen units. I was so shocked because it was such an
unbelievable number! I personally could never imagine pay that less to go to a college without a
scholarship. She laughed after she saw my expression. It's only been five decades and the tuition
raised from less a hundred dollar to five figures, I couldn't even predict how much the tuition is
going to be after another fifty years.

Racial Profiling : Developing A Profile
Racism: Developing A Profile Racial profiling is a topic that dates back centuries. With it being one
of the major issues encountered today, racial profiling is a discriminatory conduct held by law
enforcement and the criminal justice system. In my eyes, racial profiling is the use of race, ethnicity,
gender, religion, or national origin by law enforcement as a factor in deciding whom to investigate,
arrest, or detain absent evidence of a specific crime or criminal behavior (Chanin). In today's world,
racial profiling has become a major issue. All too often, minorities are being hauled off to jail
because they "fit the profile". What exactly does it mean for one to "fit the profile"? These people
who "fit the profile" are being discriminated against, and many of these people have been targeted
out of ignorance. Bottom line is, while making assumptions and generalizing entire communities,
racial profiling is a violation of human rights and is outright racist. Have you ever been mistaken for
a criminal, being an illegal resident, just because you "fit the profile"? Racial profiling has become
such a norm that law enforcement officials are fully taking advantage of the fact that a certain
individual "fits the profile". Racial profiling forces individuals who have engaged in no wrongdoing
to endure the burdens of law enforcement in order to prove their innocence. For each criminal,
terrorist, or undocumented immigrant apprehended through racial profiling, many more law abiding

Certain models predict that drought activity is expected to increase toward the end of the 21st
century and particularly in the Colorado River Basin (MacDonald & Turner, 21260). When the dam
was built in the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre–feet) at Lees
Ferry, Arizona which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of the
Colorado River average to about 13.8–14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built in a
period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9 MAF.
(Bolin, Seetharam, & Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF
(MacDonald & Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5 to
4.5 MAF in the next 30–50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, & Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in the
Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts have been occurring throughout the 20th century with
droughts from 1900–1904, 1924–1936, 1953–1964, and 1988–1991. These droughts are associated
with warmer regional temperatures and the level of warming is deemed exceptional for the 21st
century (MacDonald & Turner, 21257). Recently the Colorado River has experienced the lowest 5
year mean flows on record (MacDonald & Turner, 21257). If river flow is low, so is Lake Powell's
water level. One study suggests that Lake Powell have a 50% chance of receding to inoperable
status by the 2020's

Summary Of Walker Percy'sThe Loss Of The Creature
Progression 1 Close Reading Walker Percy's essay, "The Loss of the Creature," points out a growing
problem with the state of humanity: People have lost their ability to evaluate worth on their own, in
what Percy refers to as their "sovereignty." Percy delivers his message without most of the technical
jargon one would expect. In doing so, the problem he points out seems like something that is
accessible to the average person, rather than a concept that is far from our understanding. To begin
his inquiry of life and sovereignty, Percy argues why a person can't see the Grand Canyon for what
it is. Percy tells the story of a famous explorer, Garcia Lopez de Cardenas, who was astonished by
his discovery of what is now known as the Grand Canyon. Percy briefly describes The Grand
Canyon, and then he asks a question that might confuse readers at first. Percy asks, "Does not one
see the same sight from the Bright Angel Lodge that Cárdenas saw" (Percy 1)? The anticipated
answer that most readers would say is yes, but as one reads on, Percy argues otherwise. In following
up on his question, he attempts to make his point clear by assigning the label "P" to Cardenas' Grand
Canyon experience. (Percy 1) He argues that when sharing the value of "P" with millions of
sightseers, each person doesn't receive the same experience of Cardenas, result in one–millionth of
its worth. By using values to demonstrate worth, Percy says that experiences can be added to and
taken from them. Next, Percy

Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon is in the northwest corner of Arizona, bordering Utah and Nevada. Did you
know that more than five million people visit Grand Canyon National Park per year? The Grand
Canyon is roughly 280 miles long, 18 miles wide, and in some places more than 1 mile deep! The

impressive! While the Colorado River carved this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, these rocks undergo erosion, which is the process of moving sediments from one place to
another. Then, these sediments are deposited all at one place and over time they start to converge
and cement as layers which are also known as strata. As time keeps going, new sediments deposit
and cement together over old ones forming new layers. This is a repetitive process that eventually
build up layers to make up a Sedimentary rock. Approximately 40 major sedimentary rock layers
exposed in the Grand Canyon National Park area range in age from about 200 million to nearly 2
billion years old. As you can see, sedimentary rock formation takes an excessive amount of time. So
you now know how sedimentary rocks are formed and how the Colorado River majorly eroded all
the rock creating canyons. But here comes the million dollar question: where did all the rocks come
from? The answer to that question is The Continental Drift. The Earth's continents are not fixed in
place, but rather float on a sea of molten rock, meaning that they move around quite a bit. Over 250
million years, that "quite a bit" can turn into land masses moving thousands of miles. Moreover, the
Earth is made up of 20 Tectonic plates. Seven of these plates are very large and consist of entire
continents or sea floors. The plate that the Grand Canyon is located on is called "The North
American Plate". At one time, this plate was considerably further south and consequently had a very

Mesa Verde National Park On The Colorado Plateau
Mesa Verde National Park on the Colorado Plateau contains many geological aspects of interest,
including its sedimentary rock layers, its canyons, its alcoves utilized by ancient people and how
these alcoves were formed. Mesa Verde National Park is located in the southwest corner of
Colorado, close to the Four Corners area, on top of a high mesa overlooking the Mancos River
(Harris et al. 2004). The park, covering 81 square miles, consists of several main sedimentary
formations that are characteristic to the park (Encyclopedia Britannica 2015). Canyons are carved
into the sedimentary rock, with the cave dwellings found high on their steep walls. These dwellings
are an especially unique aspect to the Mesa Verde National Park, and are built out of large alcoves.
The alcoves were produced by weathering and erosion of the sedimentary rock type. To better
understand how these alcoves formed, we must understand the geology of Mesa Verde National Park
and how it has developed over history.
First, we must examine the sedimentary formations; when they were formed, how they were formed,
and what materials they consist of. About ninety–three to one hundred million years ago, the
Western Interior Seaway rolled through the North American continent, eventually reaching the
geographical area of today's Mesa Verde National Park (National Park Service 2005). This sea
deposited a thick, hard sandstone base that is called Dakota Sandstone, although this layer is not
exposed in the park

City Of Tucson: A Narrative Analysis
Fondly known as the "Old Pueblo" to its people, the city of Tucson, Arizona offers a wide variety of
opportunities to explore the history, culture, and environment that makes this location distinctive
and invigorating for all who come to revel in its splendor. The city itself has been home to the
indigenous Hohokam people for over 4,000 years due to its arable land, rich resources, and ample
precipitation from the monsoon and winter rains. These traits encouraged Spanish settlers to move
into the area, who then built the iconic historic landmark Mission San Xavier del Bac–or "The
White Dove of the Desert"–to celebrate traditional and spiritual ceremonies. Centuries later after
being purchased by the United States in the Gadsden Purchase, famed outlaws and bandits such as
John Dillinger and William Whitney Brazelton rampaged the streets of Tucson, starting fires and
causing mayhem for Tucsonans, cementing the Wild West roots in the southwest. Today, the people

Recruitment would then turn to external candidates; postings can be made in local newspapers, job

background checks for any criminal activity that might preclude a candidate from employment with
CCC. Additionally a financial background check is covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which

Descriptive Essay On Monument Valley Discovery
A trip to visit Monument Valley took me through the mystifying canyons and desert flats of Utah
consecrated by the indigenous Navajo people for their natural beauty. I did not realize that my
journey on a winding road through the sovereign Navajo Nation would have such a profound effect
on me when I first arrived at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Amidst the towering auburn
stones and fine sands, the Valley began to perform a ballad of whispering winds and endless sky.
This performance detailed the relationship between man and nature in Monument Valley and even
the largest lens cannot capture the landscape. I began to interpret Monument Valley (see appendix
A) and its importance to me as an example of true nature that I encountered early in my childhood in
movies. It was naive to believe that my childhood recollections of grayscale Western films did it
justice, so I set out on a journey to discover the landscape in person. While my original memories
will endure, the enchanting effects of the Valley of the Rocks on my soul is only relivable amidst the
great stones of the Colorado Plateau.
Revered across the world for its unique physical features, the Colorado Plateau (see appendix B) has
become synonymous with natural wonder. I took up the task of visiting the expansive area in August
of 2017 to as an odyssey of discovery, and immediately noticed the uniqueness of the landscape.
Upon arrival, it became clear that the Navajo cared for their natural spaces in a meticulous

Whether an athlete goes on to be professional or not, they have been productive cash cows fro the
NCAA without compensation. The ending of these athletes does not affect the NCAA, so they can
continue the cycle of manipulation. Student athletes are gaining much athletically, so they should
take advantage of the second part of being a "student athlete" instead of wasting away the free
education they are receiving. The most important thing is for athletes to successfully leave college
with a degree that they can use to build upon for the rest of their lives. It is mind–blowing that some
athletes are active in a sport for four years and leave without a degree in hand.
In any event, athletes are amateurs. They must realize that they are privileged to attend college and
let alone for no cost to their pockets. Many students have to work jobs for extra money for clothes
and food, but athletes have those covered for the most part. Athletes oftentimes make connections

The Grand Canyon National Park
Grand Canyon National Park
Army Lieutenant Joseph Christmas Ives was the first American to ever lay eyes on the Grand
Canyon. He deemed it "altogether valueless", and he believed that "ours has been the first and will
undoubtedly be the last, party of whites to visit the locality. It seems intended by nature that the
Colorado River along the greater portion of its lonely and majestic way, shall be forever unvisited
and disturbed" (Powell, 3–4). Looking out at the vast beauty of the Grand Canyon, he was sure that
it would never have any importance, and nobody would want to see it. Today, Grand Canyon
National Park is one of the greatest and most well–known natural landmarks in all of the United
States.
The Grand Canyon is considered one of the 7 Wonders of the Natural World. Within its cracks and
bends, the Grand Canyon tells a story of the Native American people, and the roots and history of
our nation. The Grand Canyon is essentially surrounded by various Native American tribes and
reservations, including the Navajo Nation Reservation. The Navajo Nation Reservation, spans
27,000 square miles and spreads across three states: Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. Within its
borders lies monuments, national parks, and of course, Navajo people living traditional lifestyles.
This brings in modern day tourists into the reservations which are a different world within our own,
where they don't have electricity and they live closely kindred lives with nature.

Importance Of MU Activities And Events
MU Activities and Events
1. The Monmouth University event I decided to attend was a mens basketball game. Specifically,

4. Personally, the event was a good use of time, since my plans were to stay in bed on this particular
Saturday. I am proud of myself for putting myself out there and attending this event. Was I glad I
attended? Yes and No. I am glad I attended because I got to experience something that most students
cannot, seeing their team play at Madison Square Garden. I am not glad that I attended because the
traveling costs were quite above my margins. The days' worth of spending money totaled to around
forty dollars. Which for a college student such as myself is exorbitant. The train ride itself, round
trip, cost around $32.50. An after eating lunch in the city, my spending's were exceeding my limit. I
learned that it is okay to splurge once in a while on something special, and not to feel guilty when it
comes to those occasions in life.
5. Based on my experience, I would only recommend this activity to specific students.
Unfortunately, there will most likely not be another game of this stature since it was a special event,
but I would advise attending a regular season Monmouth University basketball game held at the
school. The reason why I find this event caters to a specific audience is because it is a sporting

Surprise is key in sports because teams need deception to trick the other team. If sports teams apply
deception as well as other doctrines of war they will most likely win. Furthermore, security is
important in obtaining surprise. Operation Mincemeat was successful in getting Hitler to split his

Arizona College And Career Ready Standards Policy Brief
To: Professor Stritch
From: Lexis Townsend
Date: November 14, 2014
Subject: Arizona College and Career Ready Standards Policy Brief
Policy and Background:
The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) were developed nationally in 2009 with the intent of
better preparing students for college, and their eventual careers. Faced with the option of whether to
adopt or reject CCSS, the state of Arizona chose the former. The Arizona College and Career Ready
Standards (AZCCRS) were officially adopted in 2010, with required implementation starting in the
2013 school year. The approved common core subjects are English and math, and place a heavy
focus on the development of real world, critical thinking skills. Common Core standards were
adopted by the state of Arizona because of the perceived need to enhance students' abilities to
transition from K–12 grade levels to college and the career world. The AZCCRS clearly dictate what
Arizona children should know at each grade level (Expect More Arizona, 2014) Aside from
updating everyday classroom standards, there has also been a push to replace the outdated Arizona's
Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) test. While there was debate over which standardize test to
administer, the state of Arizona has decided that Arizona's Measure of Educational Readiness to
Inform Teaching (AZMERIT) will be the best tool to measure the success of the new educational
standards. As with most new policies, there are strong opinions about the new standards.

Rocks In Colorado Essay
The Rocks in Colorado I believe that the rock cycle has an impact on Colorado because of the
sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock cycles that lead up to the formation of the Earth's
mountains, and terrains. These different steps lead up to the rock cycle. To turn igneous to
sedimentary, they are easily eroded, it breaks down to sediment. Sedimentary to metamorphic,
sedimentary rocks are subject to pressure so it produces a chemical reaction. Metamorphic to
igneous, when metamorphic rock gets hot, it melts turning it into igneous rock and this precedes the
rock cycle. In Colorado, we have marble, sandstone, and granite, being metamorphic, sedimentary

Convection currents may bring magma to the surface at diverging boundaries. Sedimentary rocks
from the ocean floor gets pushed down to the mantle at convergent boundaries. The crust soon melts
and rises to the surface creating igneous rock. Typically mountain ranges are metamorphic rock,
maybe our mountains are. Energy transfers in the rock cycle, solar energy for example, wind breaks
down the sediments, heat from the sun causes the rocks to crack, rain slowly dissolves rock. Next,
we have gravity, gravity moves around the rocks to its right place, some examples are waterfalls,
and mudslides. Chemical energy reacts within the Earth's crust changing rocks from one form to the
other. Heat energy causes the Earth's rocks to melt completely or partially. Extrusive rocks form
when magma reaches the Earth's surface. Basalt is the most common extrusive rock, though rock
that forms from the hardened magma is called intrusive. In the southwestern part of Colorado ash
tuffs cover thousands of square miles. The tuff is created from the volcanic landscape. The Garden
of the Gods for example, is made from extrusive rock. There are different types of rocks up there

There has been rumors that people would like to combine Tucson international airport and Phoenix
international airport. Residents from both cities would like the two airports to be combined
somewhere in the middle of the two fast growing cities. Tucson Airport is owned by the city of
tucson and it is a military/civilian airport located 8 miles south of downtown tucson in pima county.
Phoenix Sky harbor international airport is also a civil/military airport located 3 miles southeast of
of downtown Phoenix in Maricopa County Arizona. I would disagree with the combination of this
two airports because simply they are both in different cities and it would cost a great deal of money.
The land where Tucson international sits today was purchased in ... Show more content on

The pros for this airport being built is that it can help Casa Grande grow and help it economically. It
will help economically because since both of parts of the cities facing the each other is growing, the
airport will help people get there faster by not making them drive long hours and/or make different
stops at airports to get to a small airport that is in Casa Grande. Another pro for this airport being
built is that it can provide jobs for the people that move to that area that have no jobs. Which allows
people to bring more money to their families. That would be all of the pros that I think will come out
of building this new airport. The first con would be the employees of both airports. So many people
work in both airports, abandoning this airports will raise tucson's unemployment rate even higher
than what it is right now and will affect the economy of the city. Phoenix will still be affected by it
but it will not be as bad as tucsons. But closing this Phoenix alone that has a 79 million dollar
annual impact to the city will be disorganized. The airport is a key point for the economy of phoenix
because it receives so many domestic and international flights. Another con would be the major cost
for this new airport. The new airport will cost so much which can bring the government in debt,
which can result in the raise of taxes until it's paid off. In addition, this con is that all the renovations
being done to both airports for future passengers will be a complete waste. I would be a waste of
resource, labor, and money, so for future customers would not even see this new update done to this
airports. Finally, the last caon would be that some airlines that have hubs at one of the airports,
could affect them as well. Not only that some airlines could not be making enough money which
could result in airlines dropping this their routes to this new airport, on the

Movie Review : ' Unforgiven ' And Oscar Clint Eastwood And...
The Western Reenvisioned Two men meet alone in a dusty town, facing off in one final gunfight or
there is a line of cavalry men on horses waiting for the Indians to crest the hill that faces them.
These are two visions of the Western film that has long been a staple of this genre. There are those
that see the Western differently and their interpretation is just as intense or thought provoking, even
comical. Unforgiven directed and starring Clint Eastwood and Blazing Saddles directed by Mel
Brooks are two such films that took the Western to another level and envisioned the wild west in a
new light. Their versions still held onto the some of the true Western themes and revered the scenic
visions of the frontier and the mystery of the immense landscape while changing the view of how a
Western film should be filmed. Both directors reexamine the typical Western characters,
reenvisioned the role of violence, while still celebrating the beauty of Western frontier. Unforgiven
opens with what is typical from the Western, a conflict occurs, in this case it is a man trying to
disfigure a brothel woman. Eastwood departed from the typical female in distress role from the
schoolmarm or as John Cawelti put it, "the blond...represents genteel, pure femininity" (Cawelti 30),
to a blond prostitute being the woman whose virtue is at stake. The young woman Delilah, played
by Anna Levine although a prostitute, still is made to look innocent and naive as the pure women in

The University Of Arizona Vs. Utsa
Going to a university where football is taken as serious as it is here at Arizona is an affair of it's
own. Personally, I had only experienced various high school football games, until September 3rd,
2015 when I decided to attend The University of Arizona vs. UTSA here at our home stadium. The
school spirit, pride and student section, also known as the ZonaZoo, are all such huge contributions
to the experience itself. Although football games are only one part of the community here at the U of
A, they bring out the comradery in our student body as U of A students love to watch their school
succeed against opponents. The clock struck 3:30pm as I walked into my apartment on Thursday the
3rd after my MIS class. I proceeded to unlock my bedroom, put my bag down and get into my UA
Wildcat gear in preparation for the first game. My fraternity brothers and I were all meeting over at
our house shortly so we could all walk to the stadium together. I then proceeded down the elevator,
out to Park Avenue, and started my walk to the house. The minute I stepped outside I overheard a
group of girls talking about the football game. "I'm so excited to finally get back to the Zoo," one
said. "Football season is my favorite time of the year," another one said. I continued to walk down
Park Avenue where I observed various groups of students all getting excited for the first game of the
year. As I passed University Boulevard the madness continued with the bumper–to–bumper traffic,
mass amounts

Importance Of College Education
I would like to acknowledge my entire family for their help and for never giving up on me. I have to
thank my parents for tirelessly encouraging a son who didn't seem that interested in getting a degree
for a very long time. They also shouldered an enormous portion of the financial burden involved in
attending a university. I would also like to thank my younger brother. Ironically, he has been a role
model for me, and has been an example of how to be a better student as well as a better man. Both
of my grandmothers have been wonderful and patient with me, while making sure that I understood
that they were both expecting a graduation at some point. Lastly, I would like to acknowledge my
wife, who has supported and encouraged me during this last stretch of going back to school after a
long hiatus. Without her love and support on a daily basis, I am quite sure I would not be completing
my degree in December.
Introduction
My college education began in the fall of 2001. I graduated from Glenwood High School and
enrolled at Arizona State University. I arrived in late August and started getting acclimated in a new
state with all new people. I went from living in Springfield, a town of about 100,000 people at the
time, and being around people I had grown up with my whole life to living in the Phoenix
metropolitan area, with more than 6,000,000 people, and I didn't know anyone. It was exciting and
daunting at the same time, and I was completely unprepared, or

Observation Of Court Observation

  • 1. Observation Of Court Observation Maricopa County Superior Court Observation Social Work is a complex and very diverse field with many options to work in. Many social workers find themselves going to court to advocate for their clients. Others may consider working with the court directly. As an observer of a court it is important to notice the individuals involved, the accessibility of the court, the parties involved, and personal reflections that one perceives. Description Court I attended the Maricopa County Superior Court located at 222 E Javelina Ave, Mesa, AZ 85210. I went on Wednesday December 6, 2017 from 1pm to 5pm. I attended both the criminal court in room 202 and family court in room 301. In the criminal court, I observed 9 different cases and in the family court only 1 case. In the criminal courtroom, the Judge was Judge Barth and the state prosecutor was James Blair for all the cases. The public defenders (PD) were different for most all the cases except some cases had the same PD in which none of them had more that 2 offenders assigned to them at that day. The PD included, Resario Spaccaferro, Josephine Hallum, Kurt Harris, Asario Backafera, Robert Duffy, and Brian Gardner. In the family court only the petitioner (the mom) had an attorney Charles Brown, and the respondent (the dad) represented himself. All attorneys and PD were dressed in suits and the judges of course were in their black robes. The state prosecutor was also in a suit but had khaki pants and a dark navy blazer. Ease of Access Walking up I noticed there was a giant white tubing in the middle of the parking lot that was draped over the wall and the court had orange cones blocking the handicap ramp. Coming out this obstacle was no longer there. However, there is only one ramp and could have been a huge issue for someone who needed ADA access to the courtroom. It looked as if it was a fire hose but no water or fire truck was in sight. Additionally, there is a bus stop behind the court house in front of the juvenile court house. This makes it very easy for someone to access the courthouse through public transportation. The surrounding neighborhood is primarily businesses. The old department of Motor Vehicle is still there along with Community Bridges ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When Phoenix continues business as usual it is bound to suffer some impacts in future. One effect is that there will be the destruction of the ozone layer exposing the citizens to the dangerous rays of the sun. This would later turn to causing the destruction of crops grown after being exposed too much heat. This is what is commonly known as global warming caused by the emission of gas by the industries. This large population if it will not control the transportation sector then the gas emitted by the vehicles will increase leading to acidic rain which is not favorable for growing crops. Failure to change business as usual in the city can lead to extreme weather as well as climate change. The city however can be built to increase resiliency. One strategy is by building awareness. • 4. HCA255 Health Care Access Health Care Access in Arizona Heidi Haugen Grand Canyon University: HCA 255 February 1, 2015 Health Care Access in Arizona Recently the Untied States top priority has been to provide accessible and affordable health care to every American. Those that lack access to coverage find it much more difficult to seek proper treatment and when they do they maybe left with astronomical medical bills. The CommanWealth Fund found that one–third or thirty three percent of Americans forgo health care because of costs and one–fifth or twenty percent are thus left with medical bills that have problems being able to pay. The federal government, through the Affordable Care Act (2010), has mandated that every person have health coverage in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Governor Brewer also planned on taxing hospitals in order to receive funds for the program. Her reasoning in doing so is because Arizona already charges a two percent insurance premium tax and a provider tax on nursing homes (Roy, A. 2013). She also feels that by expanding Medicaid, hospitals will start to receive payment for services that would have otherwise not been paid for by those who are uninsured. For those adults with children that are not eligible for Medicaid but their income is not enough for private insurance, KidsCare was an option until it froze in January 2010 due to a cost–cutting effort. KidsCare is a state sponsored insurance program for low–income families that is part of the federal Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). Arizona is currently the only state that does not have a CHIP program which forces families that were on the program to partake in the health care exchange and pay for private insurance or forgo health coverage and be uninsured (Whiteman, M., 2014). The number of children covered at the time of the program freeze went from 45,000 to about 2,000, which was a ninety–five percent drop (Whiteman, M., 2014). Governor Jan Brewer proposed to restore coverage to thousand of children through KidsCare II, where Phoenix Children's Hospital, Maricopa Integrated Health System, and the University of Arizona Health Network would pull money together and receive extra federal funds. The plants that grow in the Grand Canyon their roots are right below the soil because when it rains the roots have to get as much water as possible to grow. When it rains the water comes down in torrents, which also means violently rushing streams. It can move just about anything out of its way. When this is happening it can take out cars, trucks, buses and sometimes–small houses. All this water flows down to the Colorado River. This is more like a fast flowing concrete because after all the raining and water flow the ground gets so hot that it just hardens into one block like concrete. The second most destructive thing is ice. When it gets cold out especially towards the northern part of the Grand Canyon the rain seeps in between the rock and freezes. Once the water freezes the rocks split apart and causing the them to fall. The rocks fall down the mountainside hitting other rocks and whatever gets in the way. • 14. Racial Profiling : Developing A Profile Racism: Developing A Profile Racial profiling is a topic that dates back centuries. With it being one of the major issues encountered today, racial profiling is a discriminatory conduct held by law enforcement and the criminal justice system. In my eyes, racial profiling is the use of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or national origin by law enforcement as a factor in deciding whom to investigate, arrest, or detain absent evidence of a specific crime or criminal behavior (Chanin). In today's world, racial profiling has become a major issue. All too often, minorities are being hauled off to jail because they "fit the profile". What exactly does it mean for one to "fit the profile"? These people who "fit the profile" are being discriminated against, and many of these people have been targeted out of ignorance. Bottom line is, while making assumptions and generalizing entire communities, racial profiling is a violation of human rights and is outright racist. Have you ever been mistaken for a criminal, being an illegal resident, just because you "fit the profile"? Racial profiling has become such a norm that law enforcement officials are fully taking advantage of the fact that a certain individual "fits the profile". Racial profiling forces individuals who have engaged in no wrongdoing to endure the burdens of law enforcement in order to prove their innocence. When the dam was built in the early 20th century, annual flow was about 17.0 MAF (million acre–feet) at Lees Ferry, Arizona which is a few miles below the dam. Estimates calculating the past MAF of the Colorado River average to about 13.8–14.6 over the last 450 years. Thus, the dam was built in a period with an unexpectedly high MAF. Alarmingly in 2000 the river averaged less than 9 MAF. (Bolin, Seetharam, & Pompeii, 263). In 2002, the river reached a low of about 6.2 MAF (MacDonald & Turner, 21256). Some models estimate that the river could reach the range of 1.5 to 4.5 MAF in the next 30–50 years. (Bolin, Seetharam, & Pompeii, 271). The reduction of MAF in the Colorado River is due to drought. Droughts have been occurring throughout the 20th century with droughts from 1900–1904, 1924–1936, 1953–1964, and 1988–1991. • 16. Summary Of Walker Percy'sThe Loss Of The Creature Progression 1 Close Reading Walker Percy's essay, "The Loss of the Creature," points out a growing problem with the state of humanity: People have lost their ability to evaluate worth on their own, in what Percy refers to as their "sovereignty." Percy delivers his message without most of the technical jargon one would expect. In doing so, the problem he points out seems like something that is accessible to the average person, rather than a concept that is far from our understanding. To begin his inquiry of life and sovereignty, Percy argues why a person can't see the Grand Canyon for what it is. Percy tells the story of a famous explorer, Garcia Lopez de Cardenas, who was astonished by his discovery of what is now known as the Grand Canyon. Percy briefly describes The Grand Canyon, and then he asks a question that might confuse readers at first. Percy asks, "Does not one see the same sight from the Bright Angel Lodge that Cárdenas saw" (Percy 1)? The anticipated answer that most readers would say is yes, but as one reads on, Percy argues otherwise. In following up on his question, he attempts to make his point clear by assigning the label "P" to Cardenas' Grand Canyon experience. (Percy 1) He argues that when sharing the value of "P" with millions of sightseers, each person doesn't receive the same experience of Cardenas, result in one–millionth of its worth. By using values to demonstrate worth, Percy says that experiences can be added to and taken from them. Next, Percy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Next, these rocks undergo erosion, which is the process of moving sediments from one place to another. Then, these sediments are deposited all at one place and over time they start to converge and cement as layers which are also known as strata. As time keeps going, new sediments deposit and cement together over old ones forming new layers. This is a repetitive process that eventually build up layers to make up a Sedimentary rock. Approximately 40 major sedimentary rock layers exposed in the Grand Canyon National Park area range in age from about 200 million to nearly 2 billion years old. As you can see, sedimentary rock formation takes an excessive amount of time. So you now know how sedimentary rocks are formed and how the Colorado River majorly eroded all the rock creating canyons. But here comes the million dollar question: where did all the rocks come from? The answer to that question is The Continental Drift. The Earth's continents are not fixed in place, but rather float on a sea of molten rock, meaning that they move around quite a bit. Over 250 million years, that "quite a bit" can turn into land masses moving thousands of miles. Moreover, the Earth is made up of 20 Tectonic plates. Mesa Verde National Park On The Colorado Plateau Mesa Verde National Park on the Colorado Plateau contains many geological aspects of interest, including its sedimentary rock layers, its canyons, its alcoves utilized by ancient people and how these alcoves were formed. Mesa Verde National Park is located in the southwest corner of Colorado, close to the Four Corners area, on top of a high mesa overlooking the Mancos River (Harris et al. 2004). The park, covering 81 square miles, consists of several main sedimentary formations that are characteristic to the park (Encyclopedia Britannica 2015). Canyons are carved into the sedimentary rock, with the cave dwellings found high on their steep walls. These dwellings are an especially unique aspect to the Mesa Verde National Park, and are built out of large alcoves. The alcoves were produced by weathering and erosion of the sedimentary rock type. To better understand how these alcoves formed, we must understand the geology of Mesa Verde National Park and how it has developed over history. First, we must examine the sedimentary formations; when they were formed, how they were formed, and what materials they consist of. About ninety–three to one hundred million years ago, the Western Interior Seaway rolled through the North American continent, eventually reaching the geographical area of today's Mesa Verde National Park (National Park Service 2005). Descriptive Essay On Monument Valley Discovery A trip to visit Monument Valley took me through the mystifying canyons and desert flats of Utah consecrated by the indigenous Navajo people for their natural beauty. I did not realize that my journey on a winding road through the sovereign Navajo Nation would have such a profound effect on me when I first arrived at Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Amidst the towering auburn stones and fine sands, the Valley began to perform a ballad of whispering winds and endless sky. This performance detailed the relationship between man and nature in Monument Valley and even the largest lens cannot capture the landscape. I began to interpret Monument Valley (see appendix A) and its importance to me as an example of true nature that I encountered early in my childhood in movies. It was naive to believe that my childhood recollections of grayscale Western films did it justice, so I set out on a journey to discover the landscape in person. While my original memories will endure, the enchanting effects of the Valley of the Rocks on my soul is only relivable amidst the great stones of the Colorado Plateau. Revered across the world for its unique physical features, the Colorado Plateau (see appendix B) has become synonymous with natural wonder. I took up the task of visiting the expansive area in August of 2017 to as an odyssey of discovery, and immediately noticed the uniqueness of the landscape. The most important thing is for athletes to successfully leave college with a degree that they can use to build upon for the rest of their lives. It is mind–blowing that some athletes are active in a sport for four years and leave without a degree in hand. In any event, athletes are amateurs. He deemed it "altogether valueless", and he believed that "ours has been the first and will undoubtedly be the last, party of whites to visit the locality. It seems intended by nature that the Colorado River along the greater portion of its lonely and majestic way, shall be forever unvisited and disturbed" (Powell, 3–4). Looking out at the vast beauty of the Grand Canyon, he was sure that it would never have any importance, and nobody would want to see it. Faced with the option of whether to adopt or reject CCSS, the state of Arizona chose the former. The Arizona College and Career Ready Standards (AZCCRS) were officially adopted in 2010, with required implementation starting in the 2013 school year. The approved common core subjects are English and math, and place a heavy focus on the development of real world, critical thinking skills. Common Core standards were adopted by the state of Arizona because of the perceived need to enhance students' abilities to transition from K–12 grade levels to college and the career world. The AZCCRS clearly dictate what Arizona children should know at each grade level (Expect More Arizona, 2014) Aside from updating everyday classroom standards, there has also been a push to replace the outdated Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) test. While there was debate over which standardize test to administer, the state of Arizona has decided that Arizona's Measure of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching (AZMERIT) will be the best tool to measure the success of the new educational standards. Rocks In Colorado Essay The Rocks in Colorado I believe that the rock cycle has an impact on Colorado because of the sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic rock cycles that lead up to the formation of the Earth's mountains, and terrains. These different steps lead up to the rock cycle. To turn igneous to sedimentary, they are easily eroded, it breaks down to sediment. Sedimentary to metamorphic, sedimentary rocks are subject to pressure so it produces a chemical reaction. Metamorphic to igneous, when metamorphic rock gets hot, it melts turning it into igneous rock and this precedes the rock cycle. Convection currents may bring magma to the surface at diverging boundaries. Sedimentary rocks from the ocean floor gets pushed down to the mantle at convergent boundaries. The crust soon melts and rises to the surface creating igneous rock. Typically mountain ranges are metamorphic rock, maybe our mountains are. Another pro for this airport being built is that it can provide jobs for the people that move to that area that have no jobs. Which allows people to bring more money to their families. In addition, this con is that all the renovations being done to both airports for future passengers will be a complete waste. The Western Reenvisioned Two men meet alone in a dusty town, facing off in one final gunfight or there is a line of cavalry men on horses waiting for the Indians to crest the hill that faces them. These are two visions of the Western film that has long been a staple of this genre. There are those that see the Western differently and their interpretation is just as intense or thought provoking, even comical. Unforgiven directed and starring Clint Eastwood and Blazing Saddles directed by Mel Brooks are two such films that took the Western to another level and envisioned the wild west in a new light. Their versions still held onto the some of the true Western themes and revered the scenic visions of the frontier and the mystery of the immense landscape while changing the view of how a Western film should be filmed. Both directors reexamine the typical Western characters, reenvisioned the role of violence, while still celebrating the beauty of Western frontier. Unforgiven opens with what is typical from the Western, a conflict occurs, in this case it is a man trying to disfigure a brothel woman. Eastwood departed from the typical female in distress role from the schoolmarm or as John Cawelti put it, "the blond...represents genteel, pure femininity" (Cawelti 30), to a blond prostitute being the woman whose virtue is at stake.
