1. February Newsletter 2019
February has arrived, and we have many fun activities this month! Our hearing screens are being rescheduled for
February 25, as the doctor thought we were closed last week. We will also be celebrating the friendships in our
school family during February. Fourth graders from Open Door are coming on February 14th from 10-11:30am to
read with our students, and we would love some parent volunteers to help with this event if you are free. We
also welcomed last month Lynea Mitchell to our staff team; she will be here to assist while Robin is in Florida and
to help prepare for our NAEYC renewal visit. Stay warm: Just seven weeks until Spring comes!
Have a great month! Jeni Hoover, KELC Director

Hello Awesome Parents! Welcome to February! This month’s commitment is, “I commit to raise my quiet hand when I
have something to say.” Please feel free to work on this at home, too, with your child.
Hopefully the weather is warming up, so we will be able to go outside every day. Please make sure to send appropriate
outside clothing options for your children. We go outside every day that the temperature is above “feels like 25F.” As we are
getting into the middle of winter, most kids are becoming pros at getting their winter gear on and off by themselves, but it
never hurts to practice this at home. It is important that the children strive for independence in doing this.
This month we have some fun events planned:
We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day a couple different ways!
• Tuesday, February 12, we are having a party with our grandfriends in the auditorium.
• Wednesday, February 13, will be our class party.
• Thursday, February 14, we have students from Open Door coming to read and play with us and our grandfriends.
• Saturday, February 16, is our first Nature Club of the year. We are all heading to the Zoo!
• Swimming days are February 6 and February 20.
Please keep an eye out for the emails detailing these awesome events!
Have a great month! Mary, Val, Karen, Emily, Lynea
Request from Val Albenze: I would love some parents to join my Parent Leadership Group. We get to hang out and plan fun
and exciting things to do with the children. We plan ways for families to interact and get to know each other, and we also
organize fundraisers but that’s not all. Please respond to my email regarding the Parent Leadership Group if you are
interested!
