TECHNOLOGY: BOON OR BANE?
Technology is very popular nowadays. It is useful in our studies and even in our daily lives.
Technology is “boon”. It helps us to make our works easier and no hassle. It gives us also more
ideas. Imagine in just one click we can learn more things. Because of it we become more
updated in what’s happening in our surrounding. It makes us become aware, especially if there
has a disaster that will come.

Systematic approach to Teaching
• A plan that emphasizes the parts may pay the cost of failing to consider the whole, and a plan
that emphasizes the whole must pay the cost of failing to get down to the real depth with
respect to the parts.
• It is a network of elements or parts different from each other but each one is special in
the sense that each performs a unique function for the life and effectiveness of the
instructional system.
Systematic approach to Teaching
• The systems approach views the entire educational program as a system of closely
interrelated parts. It is an orchestrated learning pattern with all parts harmoniously
integrated into the whole: the school, the teacher, the students, the objectives, the
media, the materials, and assessment tools and procedures. Such an approach
integrates the older, more familiar methods and tools of instruction with the new ones
such as the computer

Conceptual Model of Learning
• When it comes to classroom teaching, it is like the use of activity by which the students
can act like in a real world situation, Sounds like a training ground. A teacher can give a
problems in real world then the student will find a way to solve it like they are being
involve in a certain situation. It is also the use of a toy, or object which is easy to made
and can act like a real one, a toy gadgets like cellphone which learners can act like they
were having a conversation trough the use of a cellphone. In that way, students will find
out the importance and benefits of having a cellphone even if they had not used it
already. A conceptual model for learning is good to use when the available material is
limited, all we need is to do is to be creative.
Conceptual Model of Learning
• It is use to accelerate the learning objectives by a representation of a thing, situation or
a system that helps people to understand the subject of what the model represents.
Usually it is an object model which maybe made to work like the object it represents.

2. UNDERSTANDING- mental or emotional process of comprehension,
assimilation of knowledge and grasping the full meaning of knowledge.
New Bloom’s Taxonomy of Thinking Skills
3. APPLYING- laying or placing what the students learn into real life situations.
4. ANALYZING- separating constituent parts of information so that the learners
can easily grasp the concept of their lessons.
New Bloom’s Taxonomy of Thinking Skills
5. EVALUATING- assessing or drawing conclusions if the learners have learned
or not.
6. CREATING- making, doing and bringing what the students learned and put

The Cone of Experience
Dale’s Cone of Experience is a visual
model that is composed of eleven (11)
stages starting from concrete experiences
at the bottom of the cone then it becomes
more and more abstract as it reach the peak
of the cone. Also, according to Dale, the
arrangement in the cone is not based on its
difficulty but rather based on abstraction
and on the number of senses involved. The
experiences in each stages can be mixed
and are interrelated that fosters more
meaningful learning.

The Roles of Educational Technology in Learning
•TECHNOLOGY can play a traditional role, as delivery vehicles for instructional lessons
or in a constructivist way as partners in the learning process.
In the TRADITIONAL WAY:
•The learner learns from the technology and the technology serves as a teacher.
•In other words, the learner learns the CONTENT presented by the TECHNOLOGY in the
same way that the learner learns knowledge presented by the teacher.
The Roles of Educational Technology in Learning
In the CONSTRUCTIVIST WAY:
•TECHNOLOGY helps the learner build more meaningful personal interpretations of life and
his/her world.
•Technology is a learning TOOL to learn with, not from.
•It makes the learner gather, think, analyse, synthesize information and construct meaning with
what technology presents. Technology serves as a medium in representing what the learner
knows and what he/she is learning.
- The role of educational technology serves to increase engagement in the classroom and make
learning easier. For teacher to become knowledgeable in terms of using technology.

The Roles of Technology in Learning
• Technology plays an important role in learning. Technology products such as books and
internet serve as sources of information and those information become knowledge and those
knowledge become learning.
• Learning through Educational Technology has been started from the basic to the complex.
While I took this course, I learned that technology has important roles in building ones
knowledge. I also learned those things that I didn’t knew how to do before like making or
using G-mail account, and others.
The Roles of Technology in Learning
• In addition, technology can help us to explore something new and the things we didn’t knew
before. Our thinking skills became expansive because if we are curious about something, we
can read some books and search to the internet or just visit Mr. Google and information is in
our hands then grasp them. Then, they will serve as foundation of our learning.

any social media site. I really enjoyed the class. I learned a lot thing about
computer, social media and how to be a productive citizen in our country. I

LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
- “ICT 1 had helped me to build my first ladder of learning about
technology. It was followed by Educational Technology 1 which helped me to
build my second ladder. Then, it was followed by Educational Technology II
which helps me to proceed on the third ladder of my learning about
technology.”
- Janilyn Jatuhan
LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
- “I really learned a lot from Educational Technology 2, it helps me to
become more familiar, more aware and become knowledgeable on how to use
technology. I learned through the computer on how to surf and scan anything I
want. Technology shouldn't be abused by human, we should be contented for
what we have in our generation and I do really appreciate the help of it in my
studies. I also realized that there's a big difference between old generation and
new generation, there's also different technologies that we have earlier, it's just
become improvised nowadays. Since I am belong to the new generation I can’t
easily adapt for what we have in old generation. I know that Ed - Tech has a
wide role in our life and in our studies which is become our reference.”
- Judy Ann Valdez
LEARNING THROUGH EDTECH 2
- “ Satisfaction learning is what I had taking ED – TECH II. Actually,
I’m already a graduate of a Computer Course but still, this subject impart me a
lot most specially on the correct discipline about new technologies and
gadgets.”

career. I know now how to used computers in a convenient way. They also
become a computer literate. I am much aware about the happenings in our
society. I improved my knowledge in using computer just like in other countries.
I am not ignorant to used computer at all. And now I can totally say that I can
get along with others.”

technology to my future teaching profession and I can teach my future students
about technology. In addition, I can apply and share my knowledge into
others.”
- Janilyn Jatuhan
Student after ED – TECH II
- “After taking up the course of educational technology 2, I became
more knowledgeable when it comes to signing up on different social networking

send. In making PowerPoint presentation, I know if what font or font size I'm
going to use and it makes more creative not only in PowerPoint but also in
other offices. As a future teacher, I know that it will help me to become more
effective teacher if I'm going to apply my learning with regards educational
technology. I want to impart my knowledge with my students and for the
following generations. I became more aware if what environment I have and
that's we surrounded by modern technology where we should be responsible to
use it wisely.”
- Judy Ann Valdez
Student after ED – TECH II

A teacher can give a problems in real world then the student will find a way to solve it like they are being involve in a certain situation. It is also the use of a toy, or object which is easy to made and can act like a real one, a toy gadgets like cellphone which learners can act like they were having a conversation trough the use of a cellphone. In that way, students will find out the importance and benefits of having a cellphone even if they had not used it already. A conceptual model for learning is good to use when the available material is limited, all we need is to do is to be creative.

  • 27. The Roles of Educational Technology in Learning •TECHNOLOGY can play a traditional role, as delivery vehicles for instructional lessons or in a constructivist way as partners in the learning process. In the TRADITIONAL WAY: •The learner learns from the technology and the technology serves as a teacher. •In other words, the learner learns the CONTENT presented by the TECHNOLOGY in the same way that the learner learns knowledge presented by the teacher.
  • 28. The Roles of Educational Technology in Learning In the CONSTRUCTIVIST WAY: •TECHNOLOGY helps the learner build more meaningful personal interpretations of life and his/her world. •Technology is a learning TOOL to learn with, not from. •It makes the learner gather, think, analyse, synthesize information and construct meaning with what technology presents. Technology serves as a medium in representing what the learner knows and what he/she is learning. - The role of educational technology serves to increase engagement in the classroom and make learning easier. For teacher to become knowledgeable in terms of using technology. Back to Contents
