1. Evaluation - Advertising (700-800 words)
This is an evaluation on my advertisement that I made and how I worked on it. I
worked very hard on it as it is one part of my GCSE coursework for Media Studies.
The aims of the production were met by me working hard on it, making it achieve the
aims that I wrote about in my product analysis, making it look beautiful and making
sure I included all the important bits in to my advert for my product. The product
represents people, places or events by being colourful nail varnish for women and
being suitable for being in all places and at any event. The product would be
exhibited in beauty stores such as Superdrug, Boots and other professional make-up
stores and it would be sold all year round. The regulations and controls that would be
applied to the product are safety, colour, beauty, and cuteness; and would not be
able to be used by small children. I took these things into consideration by thinking
about people’s safety, but also the look of the product. The strengths of the product
in terms of the needs of its audience are that it’s brilliant for make-up lovers; it’s
amazing for teenagers, it’s cheap for the middle class buyers, it would make people
feel amazing and to look more beautiful, it includes a lot of female qualities, people
would like it and its good for European and American women. The weaknesses of the
product in terms of the needs of its audience are that it’s small, so it might get lost,
there doesn’t look like there are many colours of the product available, it would stain
unless you used a base coat and some people might not even like the product. The
product applies appropriate codes and conventions and uses appropriate media
language by being like all other adverts with having a slogan, a logo, an image of the
product and a story/message.
My advert is about nail varnish. It’s colourful, beautiful, cute, stylish, playful, lovable,
friendly, is aimed at female teenagers plus young women and is used and loved by
celebrities and make-up artists. My product and advert represents love, beauty,
friendship, art, romance, playfulness, softness, popularity and music. People would
buy my product because it’s interesting, it promotes beauty and love and it would
make women feel more beautiful and to have more believe in themselves. People
would also buy my product because it would help them in becoming a bit more
popular and incredibly lovable. I called my product Swift Nails because I wanted my
product and advert to be interesting and cool whilst one of my favourite musicians is
singer/songwriter Taylor Swift. I used a colourful rainbow background in my advert
because I knew that nail varnish comes in lots of different colours, so I decided that a
colourful background would create a bright but also interesting vibe to my advert. I
decided to use Script MT Bold as my font and purple as the colour for my writing on
my advert because I wanted to make my advert creative but also to make sure it was
aimed at my target audience. I also decided to show how my product would look on
someone because I wanted people to realise that it might look different or brighter on
the nails than it does in the bottles. My product is for women who are jealous and see
other women as better than themselves and women who are confused about what to
wear or how to wear it. My product would solve these problems by offering advice,
beauty, attention and love in just one bottle of nail varnish. My target audience want
to look and feel beautiful or/and amazing, become a little bit more popular and be
creative with what they wear. My product gives all of these things. Another thing
about my product is that it could be sold not just in the United Kingdom but also in the
rest of Europe and North America. I think Europeans and Americans would buy my
product because it’s interesting, cute and every women wears nail varnish sometime
in their life, so lots of people would buy it. In conclusion, I think that my advert will
help me get a good GCSE grade and that I have included all the information that I
need to include in my advert.
