1. Manypeople canmodifythe media to get anaudience to perceive their work in anywaytheywant. The concept of my
video was toomake people see how myths have affectedare societyin modern times, and I thinkthis is shown, even
though it Is veryshort andsnappywhichmakesit easier for the viewer too watchphysically andnot growboredom when
watching, it is shownwhenat the end when somebodyelse talks about myths andhow theyhave changed us. The reason
whyI chose somebodyelse was because it made it seem less biasedandit wasnot all myopinionI outsourcedit andgot it
from elsewhere. Thiswas made obviouslyinthe present times talking about the change in movies andreligion soit is
obviouslytruthful because it references modernsociety andas anaudience the changes can be seendue to facts and
documentedstudies. Eventhough myths are not real because theyare made upwe stillhave allthese facts about them so
because of thiswhenmakingmyvideo I hadto researchup numerous different sources and get different opinions on each
subject andtell the wayI perceive it meaning it verywell maybe biased insome viewers eyes (as theythink I just them to
look at these myths the same wayas I do). Because of all the research that was placedinto this documentaryI believe it
can be considered as objective because I looked at manyarguments. With the video, it is perceived as being veryfactual
and that is whyit sounds a little more on the monotone side but it is a little upbeat to get aninterest in the project because
if I didn’t soundinteresting talking about it thanhow will the audience feel about it. I wantedpeople to see the benefits of
myths andtalk about a wide variety of changes such as religionandmediasoto mix it upandmake it seemmore personal
towards me the creator I decided to add inmyown artworkandthis allowedthe audience to see myinterest inthe topic
meaningI was engagedmakingthem so. All movies/documentarieshave different shots, songs andobjects placedinthem
for a reason, the entire reason whyfilm makers do thisis soas anpeople canperceive a character as being more
dangerous/dominant or timidbut myvideois consideredmore neutral andthis is because I don’t use anycharacters it is all
spokenandimagessoI don’t seemlike I’mleaning one wayor another on how I see myths.
My comparison
To compare mydocumentaryto an existing one I looked at Kapedia documentaryon AmyWinehouse andher life from
beginning to end. Kapedia doesa prettygreat jobof making us feel sadtowards the endof the film, to do this he first uses
the funeral shots at the end and this makesus feel realsympathetic towards Amyas a person eventhough there are times
when she seems not to be throughout the course ofthe documentary, this is the wayhe makes us the audience perceive
this in his documentary. The storyis told inchronological order with a beginning, middle andend, thisis a great structure
to go with whentellinga life storyfrom beginningto end sowe canrelate to the character andfeel sympathetic towards
them as we watch themgrow andchange through their lives however mydocumentarywas about myths so thiscould not
be shownwith a storybut the structure I went withworks because it has an intro a little debate andthen a conclusion
which in the endis what a basic piece of filmneeds to actual work for the audience.
To make sure that this storyis alltrue and not made up we actuallycan’t be sure but due to the fact it is editedtogether
using somanydifferent clips andsources then some aspects of it will be true which is what I didresearching upmany
different sources. An example of a part that might not be true will be the footage handedinbyindividualsthat were in
Amy’s life, to make her or themis seenin a different wayshowing their biasedopinions whichis whyinmyvideoI showed
someone other thanme talking about myths.
The editor uses music well to conveyacross feelings, music canbe usedrather well at times to place feelings inthe shots
without words sothe audience feels more open, anexample of this would be the area when showing Amyat reallylow
points inher life with drugs and such, the soft andhighmusic just makes us feel sadandsympathetic making us feel sorry
which sometimescontrasts as we canfeel at times one reasonfor Amy’s deathis herself. Mydocumentaryalso uses music
throughout andit uses rather fast and upbeat music due to the fact it is talking about a subject which is rather “out their”
and heart racing.
