3. Introduction
Produces mainly B and C grade plywood
as well as doors and boards
Established in B.S 2068 as a private
company
Owned by Anuj Var Shrestha
Managed by Sagar ghimire
Employs 70 workers
Ability 150 workers
Covers an area of 13 ropani
Daily production is 10 lakh
4. Manufacturing Process – Log
selection
•The first process is selecting the logs for
plywood production
•The logs must be straight and free from defects
such as knots, splits, and cracks.
•A timber should be 3-4 m long
•“Utis” tree is especially used in the factory
5. Manufacturing Process - Log
Peeling
•The source material is peeled using a log
peeling machine
•Two materials are obtained- core and fali
6. Manufacturing Process - Drying and
Seasoning
•Both drying and seasoning are crucial steps in
the plywood manufacturing process as they
ensure the quality and durability of the final
product.
•Core is dried in a drying machine at 125°C
•Fali is made into planks and seasoned in a
steamer for two days.
7. Manufacturing Process - Cutting
•Planks are cut into long vertical
shapes and then into pieces of half
and one foot
8. Manufacturing Process - Gluing
•Glue is applied to both sides of the core
veneers and the face veneers to create a
strong bond.
•The glue used in plywood manufacturing
is usually a mixture of synthetic resins and
flour.
•The amount of glue used and the quality
of the glue are important factors in
9. Manufacturing Process - Pressing
•Once the veneers are glued together, they are
placed in a hot press machine for about15-20 min
•Core and face are pressed to make a complete
plywood
•Hot press supplies 125Kg/N force
10. Manufacturing Process –
Finishing and packaging
• Finished plywood panels are trimmed to size
and sanded to smooth finish
•Depending on the intended use of the plywood,
it may also be coated with a finish or preservative
• Planks are used to make door and boards
• Plywood sheets are inspected for defects and
packaged for shipping to customers.
11. Quality control
The factory uses high-quality raw materials, such
as logs and glues, which are carefully selected to
ensure that the final product is of high quality.
The factory regularly conducts tests to check the
moisture content, strength, and durability of the
plywood.
The factory regularly monitors the quality of the
plywood to ensure that it meets customer
expectations and industry standards.
12. Conclusion
Overall, the field visit was a valuable learning
experience, allowing us to witness the manufacturing
process of plywood
The factory has implemented various quality control
measures to ensure the final product is of high quality
The efficiency and productivity of the manufacturing
process were impressive, indicating the factory's
potential for growth and expansion.
The Ambika Plywood Factory plays a significant role in
the local economy by providing job opportunities and
contributing to the growth of the community.
