• Male leaning as the main gender that choose to
partake in my survey were white males.
• 60% of my audience were 17 or younger suggesting
Rock/Indie magazines are on trend and modern in
appealing to their audiences.
• magazine needs to contain a lot of informative
interviews of up to date artists and focus on
upcoming artist in order to engage the reader and
keep the magazine interesting and light reading.

5. • In there free time my audience enjoyed ‘listening
to music’, ‘exercise’ and ‘playing video games’
(stereotypically male associated than female).
• the most popular source of music was the
internet with 46.67%.
• They enjoy reading Kerrang and NME.
• The audience generally only buy a magazine
every few months. This suggests that the
magazines provide a good quantity of
information that enables the reader to stay up to
date with music.

6. • The style of music is a large aspect in deciding whether or not a
person will choose to listen to the band/artist.
• information needs to be relevant to the context (indie/rock
genre) and it also needs to be from reliable sources.

7. Focus group interviews
• young, well-educated, and familiar with
technology and enjoyed the rock/indie genre.
• Enjoyed listening to ‘The Pixies’, ‘Tokyo police
club’, ‘Dismemberment plan’ and ‘Radiohead’.
• the bands in the magazines, the article and
interviews and the use of colours, image and
visual features are most appealing elements.
