1. How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research planning and
evaluation stages?
2. During the construction purposes of the media trailer and
ancillary tasks, we used an Iphone5/5s in order to film but
also in order to capture pictures. We chose this device as
the pictures are of excellent quality making the editing
process a lot better once the photo were uploaded. The
pictures also captured could possibly be edited on the
Iphone, as apps from the app store could have been
purchased if needed, which would have been useful. Yet
also, the use of the iphone 5s especially has a slow motion
camera feature which enables less editing to be done on
the other software such as Adobe, which came in hand
when filming in the moment as it was easier to adjust our
movements to the slow motion camera and capture video
on the spot instead of having to keep relocating to film if
the filming we had captured was not up to standards. In
addition to this, we also found it convenient to store the
pictures and videos on the Iphone for upload onto
computers, as email sending and easy USB connection were
optional.
3. Although similar to the Iphone, the ipad came
in use when the pictures taken needed to be
seen more closely and in more detail due to the
bigger screen. The bigger screen allowed
noticeable flaws to be picked out quicker
without uploading onto the computer first and
then relocating back to the place of filming.
In addition to this, the Icloud feature allowed
the Iphone 5 contents to be copied onto the
ipad, this was effective in construction as the
videos and pictures could be backed up if
anything happened to the original copies,
preventing loss of work.
4. We used a computer in order to construct,
research and evaluate the media trailer and
ancillary tasks. When I was researching, I used
the computer in order to make Microsoft Word
documents on film trailers and other ancillary
texts to make comparisons and make sure that
my conventions matched other social realism
conventions. For the development in
construction, I used the computer mainly to edit
my blog, trailer on the Adobe software and also
Photoshop when making the amendments to
photos that were taken for ancillary tasks. In my
evaluation, I used the computer in order to
construct my answers and also to create power
point presentations and use the internet to
upload my answers through different medias.
5. Adobe Premier Pro is a software used for editing audio
and video. We chose to use this especially for the
transformation of the editing for the trailer, as this was
helpful with putting the clips together and also adding
fades in-between to make the effects look more like a
real film trailer from researched conventions. In
addition to this, the software allowed us to add music
in the background and also put blank cuts into the
trailer and include text to make sure that the trailer has
the name and release date in the trailer.
Singularly, during my evaluation, I used Adobe to also
edit my voice notes for my answer to the second
question as I could play my voice notes above
annotated images of the ancillary tasks and of the
movie trailer. If I could improve one aspect of using this
programme, I would have ensured that I had more
knowledge yet I feel I adapted my knowledge as I was
editing.
6. Photoshop is a software that allows the editing of
images. For our ancillary task, it was safe to say that
this was the main software used in order to edit the
images that we had taken of the main character as
this was the most sufficient source, allowing colour
change, brightness, cutting other characters from the
photos taken and also shaping the photo or cutting
objects out and pasting them into another photo. We
used Photoshop to mainly construct the magazine
front cover as the it allowed us to put the text over
the image and also make the image stand out and
blend in well with the background scenery which was
dull and graffiti looking. I find that I found this
software rather easier to use for this ancillary task as
my skills of this have adapted, enabling the
construction to run smoothly.
7. Google Blogger is a Google site that allows posts
of text, pictures or other documents to be posted
for others to view publically. As part of the A2
media, it was compulsory that we present out
findings especially when researching through the
blog. This helped as a group we could label to
differentiate who’s was who’s which makes it
easier for people to view. In addition to this, this
media site allows other people to view out blog,
which from the amount of views received
throughout construction, gave us as a group a
positive attitude to the work that we had created.
For my evaluation, I used Google Blogger to post
my evaluation responses to the public including
links to YouTube and a video of my voice
response to a question.
8. During my evaluation, I used YouTube in
order to answer the first question. I did this
by uploading the film trailer to my account.
By doing this i will able to use YouTube
directly to add annotations that would
appear at certain parts of the trailer to
highlight where and when different
conventions appear. It also allowed me to
put my evaluation question in full
underneath the trailer itself to read
separately incase the annotations are to
broken down. I felt that this was effective as
it enabled me to show my trailer as the
annotations run, pointing out directly my
answers and putting my point across
clearer.
9. I have used slide share in order to
present my evaluation questions 3 and
4. i felt that this was the best media to
use as i was able to use the computer to
create a PowerPoint presentation and
then upload the whole PowerPoint
without changing any aspect directly to
the site. This enables other people to
view my answers and also for me to
view other peoples slides as well for
advice or knowledge on anything that
has been posted.
