Jack Edwads created a magazine cover in Photoshop using an A4 document size. He added an image of Wayne Rooney to represent the football theme. Rooney's image took up a large portion of the cover. Text was added throughout in boxes for clarity. Stickers and promotions for free posters and a competition were included to attract buyers. Standard magazine elements like a barcode and price tag were also added.
2. Process
Firstly I created an a4 Photoshop document to then
start creating my magazine. To do this I selected the
international paper and then pressed on A4. I started
this on Photoshop because this software has lots of
useful tools such as the magic wand which is used to
cut out the background of a picture and also the
stroke tool which makes your titles stand out more ,
which is important for a magazine. We did it on an A4
document as this is because most magazines are this
size.
3. Process
• Secondly I added a well known football icon
(Rooney) this is so that people instantly
recognize that the magazine is football
related. I also made him take up a large
portion of the A4 paper so that people could
see him from a distance. I chose Rooney as
he is probably England's most well known
footballer. This also creates a secondary
target audience of Wayne Rooney fans as
well as football fans.
• I then selected on filter and pressed on filter
gallery and gave the main image a cartoon
effect this is because this magazine is aimed
at kids and kids like cartoons.
4. Process
• I then added a masthead called HALF TIME.
This was because it links to the football
genre and it quite short. I also chose this
font as it sticks out due to it being bold. The
masthead also appeals to the audience as it
is football related as there is a half time in
football. The masthead also stands out on
the white background.
• I then added boxes all over the page so that
hen the text would stand out on the page . I
chose the same colour as the main image as
this follows the conventions of magazines.
This also creates a clear colour scheme for
the magazine which then makes the
magazine look more professional.
5. Process
I then added numerous other pugs on the screen
such as a sticker like shape. This is so that these
things automatically stand out to the audience
and these will also show them what they are
getting in this weeks edition then included a free
posters included on the cover so that people will
think that they are getting more for there money.
I also then included a competition on the bottom
of the page , this is so that people think and
believe that they may win an copy of FIFA and a
camera for under £5.
6. Process
Finally I then added a barcode and price tag as this
follows the magazine conventions. The barcode
and price tag are also vital to a magazine as then
the audience can and knows how much it is to
purchase. I then added some text under Wayne
Rooney so that people that may not be familiar
with him now no who he is. Finally I then added a
story at the top which engages the reader and
makes them want to buy it.
