1. FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT (3 -12-2017)
NOTICES FOR THE WEEK
1. From today we begin the season ofAdvent, the new liturgical year. The Advent‘campaign againsthunger
and decease’ envelopes are available near the church entrance gate. You may drop them in the
community fund box or box near the altar or handoverin the parish office with your complete addressand
other details.
2. There will be a meeting ofthe Parents of the First Holy Communicants and Confirmands today/tomorrow
3rd December in the A V Hall after the 8.15 am mass. This meeting is compulsory.
3. The DecemberPPC meeting will be held today/tomorrow. The firstpartof the meeting will be a one hour
combinedmeeting with SCC animators and heads ofcells and associations to formulate a vision-mission
statementfor our parish family cell. This will be followed by a shortrefreshmentbreak. The scheduledPPC
meeting will begin at about11.30. Further details are already posted in the parish WhatsApp group.
4. The Diocesan Youth Centre is organizing Youthsav 2017today/tomorrow, 3rd December2017, 3.30 pm
onwards at St John the EvangelistChurch, Marol. For more details, seethe notice board or banner in the
church compound.
5. There will be a meeting ofthe Steering Committee ofthe SCC's on coming Friday, 8th December2017 at
7.30 pm in the A V Hall. Requesting SCC coordinators from every community to make ita pointto attend
the same.
6. The nextMade in heavenprogramme for eligibles lookingoutfor marriageproposals will be held on
coming Sunday, 10th December. As eligibles from differentparishes will be attending the programme, itis a
good opportunity for the eligible boys and girls ofour parish to attend this programme andtry their luck. For
further details see notice board or eventsection in the church website.
7. The Decemberprojectfor ECO KIDS will be sarees to cloth bags projectin collaboration with our Suraksha
community centre run by sister ofHelpers ofMary. Thosewho have gotwith you unused sarees in good
condition, you can donate them to ECO KIDS when they come to visit you on coming Sunday, 10th

8. The PYAT and PYC will conductTaize Prayer Service as partofthe monthly prayer service for the month
of Decemberon Saturday 16th December in the church after the evening mass. Requesting you all to
attend this prayer service where we shall pray as one family.
9. The Bible Quest27 will be held on the following Sunday 17th Dec. Portion is - book ofProverbs chs 1 to 10.
10. The PYC will be organizing 'Carols by Starlight', a carol-singingcompetition on the following Sunday 17th
Decemberafter the evening mass in the Church. This eventis a community-wise event. Entry forms and
rules will be explained today/tomorrow’s PPC meeting. Details are also posted in the GEM parish
WhatsApp group.
11. Suraksha community centre will be organising one anda halfmonth govt certificate courses for girls and
women on tailoring, beautician, paperbag making, candle andagarbatti making. Forfurther details contact
Sr Smruti or Sr Vibha.
12. Mostof our neighbouringparishes havestarted the GREEN FUNERAL, also called Shroud burial or burial
without coffin. This is not only good for environmentas itsaves the trees used for coffin, but also
economically beneficial as they save coffin expenses. TheBombay dioceseencouragesthis kind ofburial
as it is in keeping with the teaching ofPope Francis to save environment. Therefore, itis proposed to start
shroud burials in our parish starting from coming year, January 2018onwards. Ifyou have any
suggestions, you may speak to any ofthe parish fathers.
13. The mass bookings for masses can be donefor the next6 months till June 30th from tomorrow, Monday
onwards in the parish office.
14. Last Sunday collections amounted to Rs _____________. Thank you for your generosity.
15. Priests and sisters family visitation on coming Wednesday, 6th December is SCC 2. Your PPC members
will give you further details.
