4. DEFINITION OF ECOPARK
It is a closed and controlled Selective Waste
installation, where citizens can deposit waste
that it’s generated at home and there are no
specific containers in our towns.
8. WHAT IS EMTRE?
- It is a local company whose objetive is to reuse,
recycle and eliminate the unusable urban waste
products generated in the municipalities of the
Metropolitan Area of Valencia.
- It provides services to 45 municipalities,
including Paiporta.
12. WHAT IS IT DONE WITH WASTE?
Recyclable materials are recycled into new raw
materials, which achieves a significant saving in
energy and natural resources, and we avoid they
end up in a landfill.
Examples:
- Tyres, wooden and ceramic floors
- Debris roadfilling
- Oil soap, biodiesel
- Special hazard toxic products which are treated
previously to their recovery or disposal in order to
avoid environmental problems and health concerns.
- Only materials that are not recycled are taken to the
landfill.

14. SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
It has three stages:
1. Deposit and collection.
2. Transportation.
3. Treatment.
1. Deposit and collection.
The collection of waste consist in collecting and transferring them to
the treatment plants.
Basically there are two main types of collection:
- Undifferentiated collection: mixed waste is deposited in the
containers, without any separation
- Selective collection: waste is separated and put it in the appropriate
containers:
- Green for glass container.
- Blue bin for paper and cardboard.
- Yellow container for plastic packaging.
- Grey or brown container for organic waste.
15. 2. Transportation.
This stage involves the transport of waste to the transfer stations,
sorting out plants, recycling, energy recovery or landfill.
3. Treatment.
It is the final stage and the most important. If residues are already
sorted out from the origin such as paper or glass go straight to
the recycling plant. If they come together as it is the case of the
bottles, tins, cans, must be sorted out.
Once the waste is separated the treatment must be performed:
Recycling.
Energy recovery.
Landfilling controlled.
