ISBA - "Digital decision making and predicting spend"
There are clearly more questions than answers but responsibility is essential.
✔️ We have touched on some of these subjects before with Mark Steed

ISBA "Digital decision making and predicting spend"
1. Developing Digital
✔️ 2018 - ISBA Survey – 66% not getting value from investment or able
to guarantee the safety of data or children
✔️ 2018 - ISBA conference - results and initial recommendations
✔️ 2019 - ISBA conference - crowd sourced recommendations – 6 Pack
✔️ 2020 - ISCDigital & ISBA launch – Developing Digital – Schools guide
❓ 2021 - ISBA conference – Digital decision making & predicting spend
2. Developing Digital
2022 - Will all schools have consistent, reliable and safe use of
technology with plans in place for non-disruptive
development and predictable spend for the use of
technology?

13. Strategy and
Vision Workshop -
Agenda
1. Where does your School want to get
to?
2. Challenges and barriers – don't focus
on IT at this stage
3. Cloud and remote working
4. Service models
5. Change management – teachers and
support staff
6. Action plan

14. Avoid spending ‘too much’
• Large IT teams with many people managing complex, expensive and
over provisioned IT systems. Is this staffing cost sustainable?
Your IT
department
• These are no longer needed and the appeal of industry standardised
systems connecting to one cloud eco-system has never been more
prominent
Lots of proprietary
systems
• Large replication back-up systems are no longer needed with cloud
back-up
Data and storage
• Old style conventional teaching and discrete ICT are a thing of the
past – now is the time to review, challenge and change curriculum
delivery. More specialist subject lessons delivered remotely could
become a reality

Editor's Notes
Delighted too have such a great panel today to tell their stories and answer your questions about decision making
I do implore you to get involved with the decision making one of the reasons I have asked Maria to come along for thsis reason and sarah because of the work she has done working in schools but also prior to that and Rm because I don’t think it makes good economic sense for schools to go it alone.
I did a session with Mark Steed tin 2019 on Digital governance whichtalked about this I will post a link to
Partnerships / relationships
No school, can go it alone.
By clearly defining a digital strategy across these areas you can start to build a clear plan for what transformation needs to look like.
Only at that point can you truly assess whether the technology and data setup you have supports your strategy.
What do we need to do
How do we achieve that
What do we need in place to support it
By knowing where you are across all of these areas you are able focus in on specific improvements in the right order. This helps with
Return on investment (what you buy gets used)
Embedding of digital strategy (what you buy has measurable improvement outcomes)
Build in a culture of innovation and efficiency
Reduce change fatigue through continuous improvement (small regular incremental changes rather than wholesale changes every few years)
Increase wellbeing through all of the above.
