It is identifiable as to what category the trailer can
come under. For example horror, romantic comedy
etc.
The trailer provides information as to what genre
it is categorised into by following certain codes
and conventions to adhere to them.

A trailer can educate the consumer as to what the film is
about, giving them the information to decide freely
about being something that they would want to watch.
5. Entertain/ Escapism
A teaser trailer can also be used as a sense of
entertainment/ escapism which provides the
audience with the means of wanting to watch the
film giving them the sense of encouragement based
on the identification of the trailer which can
provide the audience with the knowledge of the
genre, once again providing them with the
information required for encouragement.

The audience watch trailers as a way of communicating to
others about new releases and discuss the highlights of the
trailer and even decide upon whether or not they would
want to watch the actual film giving them the social criteria
needed.
