How did you use new media technologies

  1. 1. How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?<br />
  2. 2. New Media Technologies<br />
  3. 3. Photoshop CS5<br />We used desktop publishing software such as Photoshop to create the ancillary task and also to edit the still photos which were included in the intro to the music video. <br />Photoshop allowed us to create a professional product using a rage of different tools from magic wand to colour burn. <br />
  4. 4. Changing background<br />Changing a background is important with making a cd cover. I used layer styles as I found it better than using the bucket. This is was because in the layer styles menu there are much more options. I also used the gradient option using only two colours.<br />
  5. 5. Resizing/cropping<br />I used the crop tool to resize my canvas as I prefer to use this tool. The reason being is that I can visually see how big or small it is instead of typing in numbers. <br />
  6. 6. Video camera <br />video cameras was used to record the footage for the music video using a variety of different shots. Without the use of a video camera the video could not have been made. Although the camera wasn’t HD it had a higher resolution in comparison to mobile phones.<br />One problem that we faced was that when zooming in the image became quite dark n pixelated. <br />
  7. 7. Still camera <br />Still camerawas used<br />to take photos of the main artist and background used for the all the ancillary tasks.<br />Images taken by the still camera was also used in the introduction to the music video paying homage to le Jetee. <br />For research and planning this was also used to take picture of us in the process of producing our media products.<br />

Final cut pro <br />Final cut pro was one <br />of the software I used to edit the music video.<br />This software enabled me to create professional transitions and video effects. <br />I also used this software to sync the actual track with the edited video. I also used this software to edit the green screen also using chroma key. Playing around with this software for a couple of hours allowed me to understand how it worked as I became final cut literate.<br />
  9. 9. iMovie <br />I also used iMovie as well as I found it more user friendly with the use of video thumbnails.<br />I also used this software for the animated subtitles that were included in the video as there was a variety of different effects.<br />The zoom tool was excellent as it allowed me to zoom in to areas without using the zoom tool on the camera. <br />
  10. 10. Blogger<br /><br />Is the site where I uploaded all my work. It was good as it allowed me to upload videos, images and also embedded html codes. Bloggers work as a internet storage site this is useful as I could access my work from anywhere and also upload work.<br />It also has a draft option for unfinished work which was useful as I could save and edit at a later time.<br />
  11. 11. YouTube / Slideshare<br />YouTube was used to upload the draft and the final music video. Also was copied to the blog using embed code.<br />We also used YouTube to search existing music videos and also to copy and paste the codes. <br />Slideshare was used to upload all the PowerPoint presentations and word documents on to the blog similar to YouTube as it used html codes.<br />

Research and planning <br />The first part of my research and planning was to use Microsoft Word to create a questionnaire used as audience research.<br />The vox pox was also used as part of the audience research which was shot by a video camera and edited using final cut pro.<br />Google images – to find examples of existing media texts.<br />YouTube- to analyse existing music videos <br />
  13. 13. Evaluation<br />For the evaluation I used:<br />Paint software for the screen grabs<br />Blogger to upload my evaluation<br />Powerpoint to create slideshows for my evaluation<br />Mobile phone to record my voice answering a question<br />
