According to the Chief of Staff of the Army, GEN Ray Odierno our country's most recent set of conflicts have made it clear the Army needs to expand

Retention control points are directly linked to the manning needs of the United States Army. Military members that have served for twenty years or
more have witnessed the cycles and fluctuations in strength. There are several issues that build or reduce the manning strength in the military. Building
or reducing a large military force should be a slow process, but that is usually not the case. When the decision is made to grow the size of the United

The Arkansas Army National Guard offered as much as $20,000 bonuses for enlistments and re–enlistments. Large re–enlistments bonuses paid to
members regardless of Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) or type of unit they were assigned to. Before the build–up years, the bonuses were mostly
combat MOS and members assigned to Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTOE) units.
When the demands for a large military decrease there are several ways to reduce the strength. The bonuses decrease, or go away entirely depending on
how aggressive the reduction is. The new recruitment standards get tightened back to pre–buildup times. The retention boards crank back up. There are
always members of the military that are not meeting the common standards, such as height and weight or the APFT. Members failing to meet the
standards are the first to get sent home during board cycles.
The Boards
The Army National Guard has numerous boards depending on the guard member's status. Traditional Army National Guard enlisted members that have
reached 20 total years, will be processed through the Quality Retention Board (QRB). Commissioned officers in the traditional role that have reached
20 qualifying years go must go through the Selective Retention Board (SRB). The QRBs and SRBs are conducted annually, but are designed so each

at 0500 to get yourself ready for the day ahead of you. That means you are up and ready for your morning PT (Physical Training) before anyone else on
your campus is awake. The path you choose is one of success and one that will have a great impact on your life. You are a cadet in the best military in
the world. You are in Army ROTC. Army ROTC is the Reserve Officer Training Core for theUnited States Army. The focus of Army ROTC is to
teach and instill the Army Values on the Officers of tomorrow while providing them with an education that will benefit them through their entire life.
I have conducted an interview of three cadets of the University of Dayton's Army ROTC program to try and better explain what Army ROTC is.
They all elected to keep their anonymity so for the purposes of this profile I will give these cadets the names "CDT Smith" "CDT Doe" and "CDT
Jones".
The only way to accurately profile the United States Army ROTC program, is to give details and history on the ROTC program and the United States

Women During World War II
During World War II, women in the United States were seeing societal transitions that created a pathway for equality between the sexes. Women
during the Second World War were given considerable opportunities in the workforce and armed services and restrictions previously set on women
were breaking at the seams. Before World War II, women were seen as only house wives and mothers to their partners child. These societal roles for
women also oppressed them and only at this time could men be the bread winners and the ones to fight for their country. Women were restricted from
combat and from many occupations, and if the woman was pregnant or with children she would be restricted from holding a job period. Effortlessly
men could apply for work anywhere and could be drafted into the US Armed Forces, just because they were men. Eventually a major turning point
occurred during the war and the relationship between women and the United States military. During the Second World War women were nurses on the
frontlines, women also enlisted as Yeomen (F), and women were finally allowed to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. Womens societal roles changed
during World War II and gave way to the beginning of gender equality in the workforce and the armed forces to fight for our country.
The common thought of all men during the World Wars were that women and war were not compatible, for the two of them did not mix in any way.
