There are five
conventions of a music
magazine:
• The front cover
• The contents page
• The editor’s letter
• Two-page spreads
• The advertisements
What does the front
cover have to include?
• The magazine’s title
• The fonts and colour
used
• The main image
• The cover lines
• Others ( the price, the
bar code, etc.)
The magazine’s title is
Amuzine
The date of Amuzine published.
I decided to make Amuzine be
published monthly.

A free gift is a way to attract the
audience. It can also be said
this is a way to encourage
teenagers to buy our products. I
used a free poster as a gift to
them. This poster is used the
most girl’s band in Asian
therefore teenagers may buy
because they want to support
their favourite band.

This is the main image I used for
my cover. I used a medium shot.
She is my friend. I asked her to
help me because she is a pretty
girl by Asian people’s aesthetic
standards. Most female
teenagers’ outlooks is looked
similar to her. And most Asian
boys likes this kind of girls. So I
believe she can be my cover’s
model to attract my target
audience.

I will sell my magazines as
£2. This price is set up by
the comments which I got
from teenagers from my
questionnaire.

Those are the cover lines.
The cover lines are used to
show the audience the
interesting contents inside
the magazine. If there is
any topics inside the
magazine which they are
interested in, they would
buy and read it.

Every magazine covers
contain a bar code. It’s
used to scan the price in
the shops, such as 711. it’s
necessary to have a bar
code on my cover.
What is a typical contents
page like?
• The magazine’s title
• The page numbers
• The titles of each
contents
• The subtitles of each
contents
• The advertisements
• The published date

It’s used to show my
audience this is the
contents page.

A main image I used as the
background on the
contents page. I used a
long shot to take this
picture. However, I think a
long shot picture doesn’t
look good with other things
together therefore I cut this
picture and change into a
medium long shot picture.
She is also my friend. I
asked her for help because
she is also a fashion, pretty
girl. Asian teenagers like
her outlook.
This content I placed
individually because I wanted to
show it relates to the picture.

There are three sections, which
are interview, features and plus.
The stars around every page
numbers are used to ornament
this page.

My teacher advised me
to add it onto my
double pages spread. I
decided to add in the
end because it looks
suitable on the double
pages.

There are four pictures
which took on my
friend, Yaho Lee. This
page is showing I had a
interview with her. So
everything is about her.
It’s reasonable that I
used her pictures on
this page because they
are related to the
contents.

This is a special text
box which I only used
to ornament this double
pages.

The page numbers

This is the text which I wrote by myself. This is a interview with
Yaho Lee. On the left side I wrote some introductions. And on
the right side, I wrote some questions which are showing I was
interviewing her, asking her questions for her fans and she was
answering.
The front cover:
The conventions on the sample cover
are all included on my front cover.

The contents page:
To compare with the sample, my
proper page doesn’t include any
advertisements and the editor’s letter.
Except these two conventions, my
contents page included very other
conventions.

The double pages
spread:
My teacher advised me to add the
magazine’s title-Amuzine onto my
double pages spread. So this is the
only difference between the sample
and my proper one.
Before I started to create my pages, I
did some researches about the
boundaries of music magazines. I
have to read some examples and
decide what my music magazine will
look like. And also I saved the drafts
every time when I thought I finished.
And I asked feedbacks from my
teachers and test buddies.
