History Class XII Ch. 3 Kinship, Caste and Class (1).pptx
Evaluation, 1
1.
2. My front cover follows the conventions of a real music magazine front cover. I wanted to make the
conventions similar to those used in real magazines rather than challenge them. I have used
conventions such as image, puff, colour, subheadings, masthead, sell line, pug… there are usually
found on a front cover in order to attract the audience and the readers eye. It must look good and
look like a professional magazine in order for people to look and it and buy it. As my magazine is a
pop magazine, I have used a puff on the front cover. The most popular pop magazines, Top Of
The Pops and We Love Pop both use them due to being eye catching and having interesting
information inside. Not all magazines include them on their front page as they use different
conventions which attract their target audience. I have attempted to make my magazine front
cover similar to the those of Top Of The Pops and We Love Pop due to them being very
successful pop music magazines. The use of the colours and fonts on their front covers makes it
appealing towards the audience as it stands out and due to them being targeted at girls, they use
colours which appeal more to girls. They do not use dark colour for the font cover page for fonts
due to the idea that pop music is fun, bright, bold and energetic. I have used similar conventions
that are used in a real pop music magazine.
3. Masthead is in a bubble
writing font form. This is
common amongst pop
magazines as it stands out. I
have used bright colours as
well which allows it to stand
out more. The masthead
spreads across most of the
top of the magazine allowing
interest of the audience.
This is the main headline for
the magazine, the main sell
line. The audience will know
that this is the main feature
due to it being the biggest
headline on the page.
The use of posters on the
front page allows the
reader to know what else
is included inside.
This is the main image of my front
cover. This is shown by it being in
the middle of the page and it is
big. I have used this image as my
double page spread is based on
this band. They are wearing
casual, bold clothes which shows
that they are a pop ground.
This is a puff which is commonly
used in pop magazines in order to
promote a key word in a graphic
style. In this case “Gossip” is the
key word which is made to attract
the audience.
This is the pug. This is where I have
included the barcode and the price of
the magazine so that the reader is
able to see how much it costs to buy.
4. This is an example of a front cover page of We Love Pop.
This is one of the most well known pop music magazines
which is very popular due to the colour and the layout of
the page. I have tried to do a similar design and type of
this magazine as I am basing my own magazine on pop
music.
I have used conventions which are used here, masthead,
banner, posters, barcode, images around the page as well
as there being the main image…
I have also followed the style of the colours which are
used for this front cover. There are only three/four colours
which are used which I have also done. As there are only
a few colours used, it allows the magazine to look more
professional and more eye catching.
5. My contents page follows the conventions of a real music magazine contents page. I have used
a few conventions such as; image, sub heading, bullet points, puff… I ensured that the contents
page was connected to the front cover in order for the magazine to flow. I did this by using the
title “Inside Pop-It” which allows the reader to know that it is the same magazine and that it all
flows together when reading it. I have used the same colours as I did for the front cover which
also allows the magazine to flow more. I added images onto the contents page as it looks more
visually attractive towards the reader. The images also links to what else is included inside the
magazine without them having to look through the whole magazine before hand. They are able
to see what topics and stories are covered throughout the magazine just from looking at the
contents page. This is saving them time which will appeal to the reader more as they won’t have
to look through it all and they are able to get to the page they want to faster due to the page
number next to the subject. Due to this, the reader is more likely going to enjoy reading the
magazine.
6. This is the title for the
contents page. I have used
the name of my magazine as
well so that the magazine
flows more. I have used the
same font and the same
colours which also allows it to
flow more.
I have used images in
my contents page of
topics and artists that will
also be shown inside the
magazine. This allows
the reader to see what
else is going to be inside
and it makes the
contents page more
attractive.
This is the symbol which was
featured on to front cover of my
magazine as well. This allows
shows that the magazine flows from
one page to another.This enables
the magazine to look better and to
be read easily.
I have used this as a puff in order for
the words inside it to stand out. I
decided to put it in a heart shape rather
than a classic circle as I think the
reader will like this more and it is
visually more attractive.
I have displayed the numbers of the
pages clearly and largely so that the
reader does not have difficulty seeing it.
This allows the reader to know what
page to go to. I have also used the
same colours for the text as I did for the
headings.
7. This is an example of a contents page of We Love Pop
magazine. I have also tried to do a similar design of this
contents page in my magazine. This contents page also
uses conventions which I have also used in my own page. I
have also used the name of my magazine in the title page
which allows my magazine to flow.
They have used images of artists and topics which will also
be included within the magazine which I have done as well.
This allows the reader to know what is going to be inside the
magazine without having to go through the whole magazine.
They have clearly stated the number of the page with each
topic or story on it. This also allows the audience to clearly
get to the page that they want to by reading it on the
contents page.
8. My double page spread allows follows the same conventions as real music magazine double page
spreads. I have set it in a very similar style to those which are in other pop music magazines. I
have placed a photo of my band in the middle of the two pages so that my reader can get a clear
view of them and that they know that they are the main topic of the page. The interview of the
band is around the image which is in the middle. This allows the text to be broken up a bit so it is
more attractive. I have also added a little paragraph after the heading in order to let the reader
know what the information below is about. This allows the reader to have an insight of what they
will be reading. I have made the questions a different colour to the answers so that the reader is
clear on what the question is and what the band has said as a response. Most double page
spreads are based on one artist which is the highlight of the magazine and which is the main
story. It may be a story of the artist or artists or it may be an interview. I decided to do an interview
as I made up this band so I decided that doing an interview will give more information about them.
They are a new band so having the information about them allows the reader to find out more
about them and the kind of band they are.
9. This is the name of my
band. I have put the
name BASS in capitals in
order to let the reader
know that this page is
about them, it is the
masthead. I have used
the same colours as my
front cover and my
contents page in order to
allow my magazine to
flow.
This is the information, the
questions and the answers.
Both of them in different
colours in order for the reader
to know what the question is
and what the answer is. I have
again kept to the scheme of the
colours.
This is the headline which is
also in the same font and
colours as the headings and
the mastheads on the other
pages. I have included a little
paragraph explaining what
the information below is
about. In this paragraph I
have included a pull quote
which is a quote from the
article below. This draws the
reader in more.
This is my main image of
the double page spread. I
chose this one as the band
looks like a band. I have
placed it in the middle of the
page as it is the main photo
and it draws more attention
to them.
10. This is an example of a double page spread
from We Love Pop. I have tried to do a
similar style to this as this is a clear, detailed
double page spread about Joe Jonas.
The main artist is on the right side of the
double page. I decided to put my band in the
middle as I thought it would divide the writing
up and as my main artists was a band, there
was more writing to fit around.
On this double page spread they have also
included a paragraph underneath the
heading explaining what the information
below is about. They have used a few
colours but kept it quick simple in order for
the reader to be able to read it clearly.
