1. Mrs. Roussell’s Classroom Newsletter
Jan. 18th – Jan. 22nd
This Week’s Assignments
Reading – We will be working on Main Idea this week. Students should be
reading at home nightly. I am noticing that many students are struggling with
reading fluently and practice will help!
Writing – Students will work on a story of their choice this week. Our mini-
lessons will focus around character development and how to develop characters in
our writing.
Spelling – Students will be given Unit 18 Spelling words for this week. They will
be tested over their words on Friday.
Math – This week we will continue with division. We will be working on dividing 3
digit numbers. I have placed a video on the blog under math that explains the new
method of dividing we have been using in class. Students will have a quiz on
Tuesday and Friday. It is so important that they know their multiplication facts. I
am still seeing many students counting on their fingers and it is slowing them
down with their division.
Social Studies – We will be talking about the early people and settlements of
Missouri as well as the Louisiana Purchase and how it changed our country.
Reminders to Parents
1. Remember to check the blog for new pictures and updates.
2. Check your child’s assignment book nightly and ask them about their day at
