1. WELCOMING EVENT How about a “Welcoming Event” organized by the United Way and facilitated by student volunteers on college campuses at either at orientations or during the first week of school to incoming freshmen?

3. This would inform them about the community they are now living in and give them a chance to make it a better place to learn and grow.

5. Facebook event invitations could be sent to all incoming freshmen. An award could be given to the school with the highest percentage of confirmed guests and participating students.

7. This will create a personal experience between potential volunteers and those in need in their community. This firsthand experience may make the students feel more compelled to get involved.

8. All interested members of the community would also be encouraged to contribute to the Facebook page. This social media link would further encourage connections and communication between students and their surrounding community.
