FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 15, 2016
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.—Lafayette Urban Ministry, a local non-profit organization, is hosting a special event to
promote its Campaign for Hoosier Families (CHF) program. CHF will host “ CHF Jams with Fams” on Nov. 20 from 1:00
p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Purdue Honors Hall located in the Honors College of Purdue University.
The campaign’s advocacy efforts include marketing tactics that welcome and encourage the community to take part in its
mission to serve and volunteer for the benefit of Hoosier families.
This event is organized and executed by Boiler Communication, a student run PR firm, within the Brian Lamb School of
Communication.
The students have strategically planned this event to encourage community participation with CHF. Some highlights to
look forward to include CHF’s Director Susan Brouillette who will speak about the campaign, light refreshments, CHF
pins, CHF pens and the a musical performance.
Alejandra Durán, the Boiler Communication account executive of this campaign, speaks about the event saying, “As
students this project allows us to use our class knowledge in public relations to execute a real life campaign that will have
impacting results on the community. CHF will benefit families in need and push Indiana State legislature to make changes
for these people that feel they have no voice.”
CHF will promote its mission to increase awareness of its campaign through its special event, social media outlets
including Facebook and Twitter, and traditional promotional tactics seen in church bulletins, posters around Lafayette and
brochures.
