I Want To Be A Large Animal Veterinarian
I would like to be a large animal veterinarian when I grow up. I have picked this career because it has everything I want and desire to do. I would
get to work with animals and the people in my community to make life better for all. As animals are a part of the family. I feel that I would be
successful as a Vet due to my fondness of animals and my interactions with people. There is nothing better the wet kisses of a puppy and the smell
of puppy breath. I currently volunteer at a local veterinarian office and love. I have seen and learned a lot of valuable lessons. While there are a
number of different specialties such as small animal, exotic animal I would like to be a large animal vet and specialize in equine medicine.

Vet Clinic Research Paper
Veterinarians and their support staff are a vital part of the family when your family includes companion animals. This relationship flourishes with a
mutual love for your pets and devotion to their care. An urgent care vet clinic has a heavier set of tasks, then a regular vet clinic. What makes UPC
different from your normal vet? This is an important question that is best answered before your pet is in need of urgent care.
When your pet has an emergency need, our staff need to establish an instant and loving relationship with your animal. In a life–threatening emergency,
this relationship must happen within seconds of your arrival at the clinic. When you and your pet enter the hospital in distress, you hand your beloved
animal over to specialized

Vets Are Doctors For Animals
I've always been the type of person that is great with animals, and people. Vets are doctors for animals. They give the owners advice on the health
care of their animal and the breeding process. They treat all types of animals depending on their specialization. Most work with small animals, such as
dogs, cats, or birds, humans companions in other words. They may treat illnesses, perform surgery, or board animals if family vacation. Large animal
vets can take care of both big and small animals. Unlike small animal vets, they make farm calls to examine cattle, horses, or sheep. Some specialize
in water animals, such as fish. In small countries vets may go a long distance in order to see those in need of help. Some vets work as food inspectors ...

Employment for big animal vets is more common, however small animal vets are more competitive. The majority of states allow a person to apply for
licensure upon receiving the D.V.M. degree without a residency and without completing a set number of hours of practice. Some States issue licenses
without further examination to veterinarians already licensed by another state. For research and teaching jobs, a master's or Ph.D. degree usually is
required. Veterinarians who seek specialty certification in a profession like ophthalmology, pathology, surgery, radiology, or laboratory animal medicine
must complete 3–year residency program, and pass an examination. The D.V.M. degree requires a minimum of 6 years of college consisting of at least
2 years of pre–veterinary study that emphasizes the physical and biological sciences and a 4 year veterinary program. In 1992, all 27 colleges of
veterinary medicine were accredited by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Admission is really
competitive. Applicants usually have grades of B or better, especially in sciences. Applicants must take the Veterinary Aptitude Test, Medical College
Admission Test, or the Graduate Record Examination and submit evidence they have experience working with animals. Colleges usually give
preference to in–State applicants, because most are State supported.

I Want To Be A Veterinarian Essay
I want to be a veterinarian because I want to help sick animals become better. A Veterinarian is a type of doctor that treats sick and diseased animals

schools in the United state". That is a good amount of schools to look at because you know you have choices. The best Veterinarian school is the
University of California. While you are in school Stephanie Lanoue said " The first two years of college emphasize physical and biological science"."

Cornell University: A Personal Statement Of Purpose
As a young child I had always been fascinated with animals and taking care of their special needs. My love for animals has carried with me
throughout my childhood and into my high school years. Veterinarians are one of many types of doctors that save lives every day. As a vet or
ASPCA member, you care for many different types of animals and their needs. Many animals have special needs, life altering needs, and restrictions. I
will be dealing with many different animals and situations and am in need of a degree in pre–veterinary or animal behavior courses. Since I would like
to stay considerably close to my hometown, I am considering Cornell University, Bucknell University, and Akron University. Cornell University is my
first choice for veterinary school. Cornell has an exceptional veterinary program. Also, it is part of the Ivy League and includes a Division 1
softball program. This university is located three and a half hours away in Ithaca, New York. It is a considerably great distance away from home for
me. As for tuition, there is a nonrefundable application fee of $95. The approximate cost of tuition and fees for attending Cornell is about $50,000,
however, with additional fees for dining and supplies the total comes near to $70,000. While the price for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Journey To Become A Veterinarian
If anything is for certain it is that animals will always be a vital part in maintaining human life, by providing food, companionship, and even helping
keep a constant ecosystem. Animals will probably be here long after civilization has disappeared. So it is very important to study and maintain the
well being of animals and how they benefit us and our world. Veterinarians help provide for the well fare and on going studies between animals and
humans. Although the journey to becoming a veterinarian is time consuming and cost a lot, it is very important that people keep choosing to follow
this career path. The benefits are numerous when you consider how much you are helping not just animals, but their owners as well.

The Benefits Of Becoming A Veterinarian
From a very young, becoming a veterinarian has been a dream of mine. The love of animals coupled with the thought of helping those animals through
suffering and having the opportunity to actually save one's life has been a motivator for the future. A veterinarian changes an animal's life in more
ways than one. They care for the health of animals. Veterinarians are also able to diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of not
just pets but also livestock and wildlife ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). It goes beyond the annual vaccinations. Veterinarians examine
animals to diagnose their health problems. These problems can include anything from arthritis to cancer. Once they are able to diagnose the animals' ...

A lot of their time is spent at farms and ranches treating the illnesses and injuries of the animal. They also test for and vaccinate against diseases. A
food animal veterinarian, like a companion veterinarian and equine veterinarian, have to advise the animal owner or manager about the feeding,
housing, and general health practices of their animals ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).
A food safety and inspection veterinarian designs and administers animal health programs to prevent and control diseases that can happen between
animals and people. In order to do so, they inspect livestock and animal products for major animal diseases. These veterinarians also conduct research
to improve animal health and can work for the government in order to enforce food safety regulations ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).
There are research veterinarians who work in laboratories. They lead clinical research on human and animals health problems. Food safety and
inspection veterinarians also conduct tests to identify the effects of drug therapies on animals. These veterinarians also test new techniques for
surgeries ("Summary" U.S. Bureau of Labor

Choosing a career I would spend the rest of my life doing is something extremely easy for me to figure out. I would want to be a veterinarian,
otherwise known as an animal doctor. I would like to be veterinarian because I enjoy helping animals, which makes it easier to become a veterinarian.
You'd need to have a passion for animals and a good interpersonal and decision making skill. You'll also need good education too.
Something to help you get into a veterinary school is by getting good grades in school. Veterinary schools look for people with a lot of background
experience, so there is a lot of competition. To be able to become a veterinarian, you'll need a doctor of Medicine Degree and 6 years of schooling. (2

The Veterinary Science Class At Belen High School
The Veterinary Science class at Belen High School is one of the classes that I am taking. I have this class once every other day, and only on the
weekdays. All the students that are in my agriculture class can access it. The class is offered during 4th period. I have two Agriculture classes, but I
will only be reviewing my veterinary science class. I have had an Agriculture class since Freshman year, and I am enrolled in FFA through this class.
My genre for my subject is a high school classroom. My agriculture class teaches lessons students can carry on for life in a hands on classroom setting
and has a teacher who is willing to teach students so they can learn to the best of their abilities.
Students need lessons that they can carry on for the rest of their life. In this class I learn many of those types of lessons. I learn many things about the
vet science world. I do not want to be a vet, but I want to be a doctor. In this class I learn many things about the anatomy of animals, a lot of which
applies to what I will need to know when I am a doctor. I also learn everyday life lessons. No teacher understands that they teach their students more
from what is not in the lesson. They teach students so much about themselves that the students could not understand without these teachers. An article I
read by Huffpost Education stated "it is vital that students learn how to connect what occurs in the class with their lives and the world outside of the
classroom." I agreed

Assisting the World: One Animal at a Time
In today's world it seems as though helping one another has gone out of style. One would think since helping was the big thing 30 years ago that it
would still be the big thing today. It seems as if the littlest things in life doesn't really matter, such as science. Science has helped this world evolve
tremendously. From its research, science has helped find diseases and prevent them too. There are many other things and people that also helped out
this world. More specifically veterinarians. Veterinarians spend their life's work by earning money, preparing, and by impacting people and society on
a day to day basis.

College is about the same except for a few. In college you should strive to "take a pre–vet or comparable curriculum, maintain high GPA, gain as much
broad exposure to veterinary medicine, join pre–vet club, and meet requirements by the vet school." It 's a good thing that there are websites out
there available to help students who want to be a vet. As the world keeps slowly expanding there is going to be a need for more people in multiple
areas of work.
Like it was mentioned in the first paragraph, veterinarians impact the world. Some vets don't just impact the world but they also impact the ones living
in the world. Most find it rewarding when they've just assisted mammals of all kind. Dr. Roger Mahr, "My actions may save and extend the
human–animal relationship, which means so much to both." There are many ways veterinarians impact people. Have you ever thought about the food
you eat, like what type of animal it came from? Chances are you haven't, but you probably would be sick after eating it if the animal was sick.
Veterinarians have a job to obtain, and it is to make sure the animals that we eat are healthy enough for us to eat.
When someone thinks of a veterinarian, they don't usually think of them as being nothing more than just an animal doctor. Many people don't know
how important a vet is to society. According to ,"The Role of Veterinary Research in Human Society, "Veterinary scientist have a responsibility to

Animals get hurt and sick and since animals cannot tell their owners what is wrong, veterinarians are relied on to solve and treat the problems.
Without vets, animals and pets would not be able to be treated properly and may become too sick and die. They also play a role in public health,
keeping diseases from spreading from animals to humans. Veterinarians are important and for the safety and health of animals and humans.
Veterinarians care for, diagnose, treat, and research information about animals when they are sick or have an injury. Vets need to know how to

the competition for veterinary school admission is so competitive, it's a good idea to complete a full Bachelor of Science degree before applying.
Veterinary schools require you to have completed courses in specific subjects before they will consider your application. Since these subjects vary

Personal Narrative: A Career As A Veterinarian
My plan for my future self is to be successful in any type of way possible and just make a good creative career the best way I can. Ever since I was
a kid, I was in love with animals and hoped to make the animal environment a positive thing in the world and possibly become a Veterinarian. As I
grew older, I started to think about how much time and effort I would have to put into what I wanted to become, but my mind was focusing on
mainly helping people as I do today. I've never really been a straight "A" student and it is probably time to start focusing on how reality is and get my
head in the game we call life!
As a kid, becoming a Veterinarian was my goal. I would always watch how actual Veterinarians helped dogs and cats dosurgery with the proper
equipment needed to do precise care and help the animal needed. These Veterinarians just would go and give whatthe animals need and problem solved
like magic. I know it's not magic, it's experience, so I know that I will have to be an Intern and do a certain amount of training at a Veterinarian hospital

I Want To Be A Veterinarian
The career I chose to do when I get older is to be a Veterinarian. The job title is a "Vet". This career is about helping animals stay healthy. I chose this
career because I've always had an interest in learning all about animals, more importantly my love for them. Also, I want to be able to help save
them and find new ways to keep them healthy. My parents and some other family members have always said I have a special bond with animals.
Veterinarian services are held in either a clinic, hospital, or even sometimes mobile. When working in a hospital they do more severe surgeries and/or
treatments. For example, if a dog got hit by a car causing a life threatening injury more than likely it would need immediate care. When working in a
clinic, they mainly do check ups and minor surgeries. For example, a dog getting spayed or neutered. "Work can be emotionally stressful." says
(BLS). Veterinarians work full time "40 hours a week" says (Veterinarian), but if I was to work in a hospital, I would be on call for the most part,
because "emergencies can happen at anytime." says (Mckay, Rosenburg). "May have to respond to emergencies outside of scheduled hours." says
(BLS). Veterinarian clinics and hospitals are all over the country. In order to be a successful veterinarian, they must find respite. The work of a
veterinarian is stressful and in order to be one they have to have a lot of dedication. I need to have a lot of fortitude. There is a lot of talking and

would be around $30,000, and as time goes on the highest can vary from $82,000 and higher. In addition, there are many factors that help determine a
veterinarian's salary. For example, a year of experience is a factor. Firstly, When you are first starting out you're new and don't have much experience,
when about a year rolls around you can see a rise in your pay. Secondly, the amount of education in your career can be an advantage; the higher you are
qualified the higher your pay seems to be (OCO). Also, a big benefactor can be location, depending on where you live the pay changes. Kansas isn't one

The Process Of Becoming A Veterinarian
Veterinarians do everything in their power to help animals and keep them healthy. When becoming a veterinarian, one of the most important steps is to
take appropriate courses in high school. Mathematics, biology, physics, social sciences, chemistry and at least one computer class will come in handy
with future studies.
Communication is a very important tool in the veterinary world. It allows the Vet to convey what is going on with a patient to the owner, and allows
the owner to make an informed decision on what steps to take next regarding the health of their pet. Another important tool is workplace skills. In
this field, observation is the first sense used to asses an animals' health, if there is anything visibly wrong, their mood, and where the pain (if any) is
located as well as being sensitive and careful not to agitate the animal further. Terminology is a device used for communication as well as classifying
illnesses and injuries from the symptoms, and to let employees know how to prepare and treat the patient. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Animal Clinic Research Paper
There are many categories of hospitals and walk in hospitals are among those categories. These veterinarian clinics provide quick and emergency
service to the clients. These are established by veterinarians who have just started their career and are passionate to gain a name for themselves. In
usual cases these are not led by major medical institutions and are a reliable way to get a quick check–up from the veterinarians. There are some
distinct advantages for such walk in animal hospitals like:
пЃ¶They are inexpensive.
пЃ¶A lot of time is saved.
пЃ¶Quick diagnostics.
пЃ¶Emergency medical facilities.
пЃ¶High accessibility to the clients.
What kind of treatment can be expected?
There is a lot of support from the veterinarians who work at these hospitals. They are with high desire and will take utmost care to prove themselves to
the world. In order to do so, they provide everything within their reach so that the client can feel satisfied about the treatment of their pets by the

Financial Challenges Of Becoming A Veterinarian
Section One:
Financial Challenges My father struggled his whole life in order to provide for himself and our family. He worked his way up from being the
destitute son of a ranch hand, to becoming a successful pilot and a supervising manager of production for Cessna. He provided a comfortable life for
me and my family in the suburbs of Wichita, all the while working sixty hour weeks in order to continue his climb up the socio–economic ladder.
However, despite his success and skills as a manager and pilot, my father was laid off in 2003, during Cessna's period of extensive lay–offs. As a
consequence, He was left with no employment and an increasingly dependent family. I was little more than a toddler myself, my brother was still

I have discovered that by choosing to not start a family during, or soon after vet school, unlike many veterinarian graduates, I will be able to pay a
larger amount of student loans off faster. Through careful financial planning, and strategic life goals, I will be able to pay off my student loans far
sooner than the average veterinarian and thus gain financial stability and independence. As previously mentioned, the average Veterinarian graduate
will face up to $200,000 in student loan debt. If the student were paid the national average for a beginning veterinarian, which is $65,000 annually,
(Bureau of Labor Statistics), the average veterinarian would still be paying off student loans, ten to twenty years after receiving their degree. In
addition to an enormous debt with and an extremely long pay off time, the interest rates of a veterinary student loan would double, if not triple the
gross payment of the student, adding on another $100,000 at a

the career center because i've been there so many times and with the dog place I wasn't there but only once. So pretty much I knew the teachers there in
the animal care class. But yes I did love spending time with the animals because dogs are cute and at the career center I love petting the animals
because some of them are really friendly. I really get along with the animals there at the career center because I basically know what to do there. All
they had at the dog kennel was dog's and they have so many pets at the career center from dogs to medium to small animals. They also even have

Personal Narrative: My Time In Veterinary School
Fortunately, during my time in undergrad I learned how to time manage well. I learned what I could ask of myself and what I could realistically
get done. During undergrad I balanced school, work, home, club involvement and social involvement. During that time, I learned how to say no to
things I couldn't take on and how to effectively plan my time by importance. So far that experience has helped me tremendously with the start of
veterinary school. I knew coming into veterinary school that it would take up a lot of my time and I was able to prioritize from that. I manage task
efficiently by looking ahead slightly and prioritizing what tasks need to be done first. My ultimate goal is to be prepared at least a day before a task is

When I talk about learning life lessons that is what I mean. I want lessons that are taught in the classroom but that I can use outside of class. A
hands on classroom is ideal. In this classroom we do have some hands on lessons. We do not have nearly enough though. There is usually not enough
funding for what we want to do. Rather than doing hands on things we take notes on the hands on things. We usually cannot do things hands on and
just end up doing work on the computer. I wish that we could have more situations where we get do the lessons with the animal instead of with a
picture of the animal. Another article I read stated that "It also encourages young pupils to do things for themselves, which will help them with
learning independently later on in life." This is why I wish we could have more hands on learning. Hands on learning can be very good for this
reason. Students will then learn stuff for themselves rather than someone to do it for them. Of course teachers are still directing the class but they now
get to do things for themselves. This article also stated that "Often demonstrations will give students the main idea of how something works, but place
less emphasis on detail." Which is also very true. Learning certain subjects by doing them is not necessarily easy, but

Animal Dissection In Veterinary Schools
The problem is that the vets are doing surgery on the animals and potentially hurting, and changing the way these animals are. I believe that the vet
schools are not acting ethically for using animals for educational programs. Studies suggest the exposing young people to animal dissection as
"science" can foster a callousness toward animals and nature. Each animal that's dissected represents not only a life lost but also a part of a trail of
animal abuse and environmental havoc. Therefore the Veterinary colleges should make changes to their policies. Approximately there are 10 million
animals used in crude classroom dissection exercise in the U.S., an estimated 20 million animals are included in cruel, archaic teaching exercises.

In contrast, in freshman year students learn to dissect animals such as dogs and cats, however junior year, students are required to operate neuter
surgeries on specially bought animals. In that case the students will be more prepared and more experienced when it comes to another surgery. In
addition, for people own pets such as dogs and cats, than the dissection must be done a cat or dog to determine the problem and find a solution. The
experience attained throughout the 3 years set a foundation for reliable vets. Although the program's efficiency and success are outgoing some think of
it as inhumane. The methods used comprise of animals that are auctioned, but then put down. These animals consist of dogs, cats, and horses. Students
operate on these beings without consent for their life. The students are inexperienced which can lead to many unintentional consequences. In
conclusion, the restricted policies should change. Putting an animal's life under the risk is not worth anything. Too many animals are used and too
many of people's feelings are being hurt. Instead of the use of animals, other invaluable items can be used. For this reason the policy on animal
dissection should not maintain its original standards and

  • 5. Vets Are Doctors For Animals I've always been the type of person that is great with animals, and people. Vets are doctors for animals. They give the owners advice on the health care of their animal and the breeding process. They treat all types of animals depending on their specialization. Most work with small animals, such as dogs, cats, or birds, humans companions in other words. They may treat illnesses, perform surgery, or board animals if family vacation. Large animal vets can take care of both big and small animals. Unlike small animal vets, they make farm calls to examine cattle, horses, or sheep. Some specialize in water animals, such as fish. In small countries vets may go a long distance in order to see those in need of help. Some vets work as food inspectors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Employment for big animal vets is more common, however small animal vets are more competitive. The majority of states allow a person to apply for licensure upon receiving the D.V.M. degree without a residency and without completing a set number of hours of practice. Some States issue licenses without further examination to veterinarians already licensed by another state. For research and teaching jobs, a master's or Ph.D. degree usually is required. Veterinarians who seek specialty certification in a profession like ophthalmology, pathology, surgery, radiology, or laboratory animal medicine must complete 3–year residency program, and pass an examination. The D.V.M. degree requires a minimum of 6 years of college consisting of at least 2 years of pre–veterinary study that emphasizes the physical and biological sciences and a 4 year veterinary program. In 1992, all 27 colleges of veterinary medicine were accredited by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Admission is really competitive. Applicants usually have grades of B or better, especially in sciences. Applicants must take the Veterinary Aptitude Test, Medical College Admission Test, or the Graduate Record Examination and submit evidence they have experience working with animals. Colleges usually give preference to in–State applicants, because most are State supported. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Cornell University: A Personal Statement Of Purpose As a young child I had always been fascinated with animals and taking care of their special needs. My love for animals has carried with me throughout my childhood and into my high school years. Veterinarians are one of many types of doctors that save lives every day. As a vet or ASPCA member, you care for many different types of animals and their needs. Many animals have special needs, life altering needs, and restrictions. I will be dealing with many different animals and situations and am in need of a degree in pre–veterinary or animal behavior courses. Since I would like to stay considerably close to my hometown, I am considering Cornell University, Bucknell University, and Akron University. Cornell University is my first choice for veterinary school. Cornell has an exceptional veterinary program. Also, it is part of the Ivy League and includes a Division 1 softball program. This university is located three and a half hours away in Ithaca, New York. It is a considerably great distance away from home for me. As for tuition, there is a nonrefundable application fee of $95. The approximate cost of tuition and fees for attending Cornell is about $50,000, however, with additional fees for dining and supplies the total comes near to $70,000. While the price for ... I have this class once every other day, and only on the weekdays. All the students that are in my agriculture class can access it. The class is offered during 4th period. I have two Agriculture classes, but I will only be reviewing my veterinary science class. I have had an Agriculture class since Freshman year, and I am enrolled in FFA through this class. My genre for my subject is a high school classroom. My agriculture class teaches lessons students can carry on for life in a hands on classroom setting and has a teacher who is willing to teach students so they can learn to the best of their abilities. Students need lessons that they can carry on for the rest of their life. In this class I learn many of those types of lessons. I learn many things about the vet science world. I do not want to be a vet, but I want to be a doctor. In this class I learn many things about the anatomy of animals, a lot of which applies to what I will need to know when I am a doctor. I also learn everyday life lessons. No teacher understands that they teach their students more from what is not in the lesson. They teach students so much about themselves that the students could not understand without these teachers. An article I read by Huffpost Education stated "it is vital that students learn how to connect what occurs in the class with their lives and the world outside of the classroom." I agreed ... As the world keeps slowly expanding there is going to be a need for more people in multiple areas of work. Like it was mentioned in the first paragraph, veterinarians impact the world. Some vets don't just impact the world but they also impact the ones living in the world. Most find it rewarding when they've just assisted mammals of all kind. Dr. Roger Mahr, "My actions may save and extend the human–animal relationship, which means so much to both." There are many ways veterinarians impact people. Veterinarians have a job to obtain, and it is to make sure the animals that we eat are healthy enough for us to eat. Without vets, animals and pets would not be able to be treated properly and may become too sick and die. They also play a role in public health, keeping diseases from spreading from animals to humans. Veterinarians are important and for the safety and health of animals and humans. Veterinarians care for, diagnose, treat, and research information about animals when they are sick or have an injury. Vets need to know how to properly examine wounds and the body of the animal in order to diagnose and treat the issue. Treating the injury involves knowing how to perform surgery, test and vaccinate, prescribe proper medication, and even euthanizing, or putting to death, the animal. However, working with animals can be very difficult and stressful if they do not cooperate properly. Many... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each animal that's dissected represents not only a life lost but also a part of a trail of animal abuse and environmental havoc.
