Creation of gameplay systems in games is a complex process. It requires a large amount of forethought and iteration. It is a process in which ambitions and ideals of creating something groundbreaking often clash with the reality of developing a finished, coherent product. This talk will discuss this process using the Procedural Encounter System of Horizon Forbidden West as an example.
