Editor's Notes
-
Choose a topic – Example: Abuse and Family Violence
Choose a sub-topic – Example: Peace bonds and restraining orders
Sub-topic pages provide legal definitions and feature related Common Questions and hundreds of resources that can be sorted further by language, format or producing organization
Each Common Question provides an answer and links to resources on the site for more information.
72 Common Questions on all of the legal topics of the site. Each written/reviewed by a lawyer at CLEO or in some cases, externally with a producing organization.
Each resource is reviewed, described in plain-language and links to more information on the producing org is provided – Example: CLEO
Each producing organization is described, contact information is provided and from this page related resources, news and training from this organization is featured (where applicable)
Services Map: While we have over 500 producing organization for our resources and news, our Services Map provides a searchable, interactive gateway to a much smaller set of organizations that provide direct services to individuals in Ontario. You can browse by region, legal topic and by type of organization
CLEO partners with producing orgs (like several clinics) to provide public legal education webinars for service providers. As of February, 2012 we have 59 of these webinars archived on the website. Over 800 people have participated in our live webinars and are archived versions have been viewed over 4000 times since we launched the site in November 2011.
On the bottom of every page on the site we offer a “Your Legal Rights at a glance menu”. From here you can browse all resources or browse by language specifically. This is also a gateway to a number of page on the site.
Facebook is our 4th highest “referral” source for traffic. We use our Facebook as an additional “channel” through which to reach people who can help us spread the word about PLEI, news, and referral opportunities for legal services. Through cross-promotion it also helps us work with other clinics and legal service provider organizations to help raise our profile. We have recently started using Facebook Ads to try to reach a broader audience by taking our information to “them” in a place where we know millions of Ontarians have a profile that they visit regularly.
