5 key differences between Hard skill and Soft skillsRuchiRathor2
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝:
𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐝 & 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 💯
In today's dynamic and competitive market, a well-rounded skillset is no longer a luxury - it's a necessity.
While technical expertise (hard skills) is crucial for getting your foot in the door, it's the combination of hard and soft skills that propels you towards long-term success and career advancement. ✨
Think of it like this: Imagine a highly skilled carpenter with a masterful understanding of woodworking (hard skills). But if they struggle to communicate effectively with clients, collaborate with builders, or adapt to project changes (soft skills), their true potential remains untapped. 😐
The synergy between hard and soft skills is what creates true value in the workplace. Strong communication allows you to clearly articulate your technical expertise, while problem-solving skills help you navigate complex challenges alongside your team. 💫
By actively developing both sets of skills, you position yourself as a well-rounded professional who can not only perform tasks efficiently but also contribute meaningfully to a collaborative and dynamic work environment.

In addition to this Virtual Information Session, the Job Center website links to three online tools.
Whether you are new to job search or if you have not been in a job search in a while, we recommend that you go through the “self-directed 5 Steps to Your Next Job”. We have broken down the process of making a career transition into five simple modules: PREPARE, RESEARCH, DOCUMENT, FIND, and LAND. The modules build upon each other, so we recommend that you go through these in order. It may take you 3 to 5 hours to go through this tool.
The Job Center partners also offer a robust menu of online workshops. You can see the entire schedule of workshops on the Job Center calendar. Some typical topics include “Your Personal Brand & Resumes”, “Job Search Resources in a Tough Job Market” and an “Industry Snapshot” workshop. Register for any of our online workshops, where you can meet our staff and network with other job seekers or employers.
The “Job Opportunities page” is a list of current job opportunities from employers who have been vetted by our Business Service Team. Employers are hiring right now, and you can even upload your resume (using the form at the top of the page) for consideration for a job referral or work experience.
All three of these resources are linked from the Jobseeker page on our website. Visit lakecountyjobcenter.com and click on word “Job Seekers”!
Another area of the Job Center website that we recommend you check out is the Resource Library. The Job Center Resource Library contains a wide range of helpful documents, handouts, and other resources to help you with your job search and employment needs. These include:
Job Center Flyers
Workforce Briefs

Video Library
The Lake County Careers Website is another premier destination for information on career resources, career pathways, and local hiring events. The website is located at https://www.lakecountycareers.com

Work, Earn, & Learn
Workforce Essential Skills Training
ConstructionWorks, powered by the Illinois Tollway
On the website, individuals also have the opportunity to explore the Career Paths section and learn about dozens of careers in Lake County. Some of the helpful information provided includes:
Industry outlook and growth

Information regarding hiring events is also available on the Lake County Careers Website, with the ability to register for upcoming hiring opportunities in your community!
Get Hired Illinois was launched in May 2020. This website is a portal designed to connect workers with hiring opportunities. The portal includes access to more than 60,000 jobs posted on the state’s job exchange. You can register for a virtual job fair on the website or access a link to free online training resources through Coursera.
A key part of our services are the federally-funded grant programs administered through the Job Center.
The first federal program is the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act, also known as WIOA. It was signed into law on July 22, 2014, and is designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.
The second federal program is Trade Adjust Assistance (TAA). TAA is a federal entitlement program that assists workers who have lost or may lose their jobs as a result of foreign trade including increased imports or a shift in operations to foreign countries.
WIOA Career Services are dependent upon a number of eligibility criteria. First and foremost, an individual must meet the General Eligibility criteria of being authorized to work in the United States, and must meet Selective Service compliance, which applies to all males born after December 31st of 1959. You can check your Selective Service registration and compliance at www.sss.gov
The rest of the items shown on this page are examples of the various other criteria and requirements that must be met or completed prior to receiving WIOA funded Career Services.
For the application process to pursue Career and Employment Services:
You will first need to complete the required online WIOA Pre-Screening Application, located further down on this web page, with the optional opportunity to upload your resume as part of your application
Once you have submitted your pre-screening application, a Job Center staff member will contact you within 2 business days regarding next steps
At that point, complete the items listed on the Requirements for WIOA Services handout (which is located in the Virtual Information Session Folder section below on this web page with other additional handouts)
