Steadily increasing responsibilities to advise business, policy and legislative executives of Fortune 50
company and support or lead negotiation to drive consensus on complex commercial transactions, public
policy, corporate strategy and tactics. Manage teams of internal and external legal resources.
• Internet backbone and data center lead counsel. IRUs, data centers, interconnection.
o Negotiate IRU (indefeasible right of use) fiber leases and related colocation, operations
and maintenance agreements for deals up to 250,000 fiber miles valued into 10 figures.
o Negotiate regional and national data center lease and license agreements.
o Support backbone-interconnect business including most of company’s domestic and
international transport, transit, CDNs (content distribution networks), livestreaming,
settlement free interconnect (SFI), and CNF (carrier-neutral facility) colocations with Tier
1 and other providers.
• Wi-Fi “general counsel”. Primary legal support to nation’s leading WiFi provider, since
inception, now with over 15MM hotspots and dozens of managed service and roaming
implementations worldwide. Coordinate Wi-Fi and Broadband Alliance (WBA) subcommittee on
roaming enhancement.
• Wholesale “general counsel”. Lead counsel / senior leadership team, developing and bringing to
market products and services that leverage infrastructure capacity and provide technologically
innovative solutions for advertisers, MVPDs, content owners and technology providers.
• Cybersecurity/Privacy. Enterprise and consumer. Direct report to CPO.
o Coordinate legal agreements with vendors, industry groups and government agencies;
provide legal, transactional and legislative/policy counsel to internal stakeholders including
CIISO and CPO on security and privacy matters as to SaaS, PaaS, cloud, CDN and Wi-Fi.
o Draft privacy policies; counsel business on compliance considerations for new products.
o CIP-T certification from IAPP (pending).
• Digital copyright compliance, policy. Responsible for digital copyright policy and compliance.
o Represented US cable industry on board of Center for Copyright Information with the nation’s
