Tracking global growth concerns, Indian indices plunged at open and continued the pessimistic trades. Feeble global
cues coupled with disappointing August IIP data weighed on the sentiments. During the later part of the session,
markets turned northwards to pare the early losses and added over 0.3% to settle near intraday high levels.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 26384.07, up 86.69 points or 0.33%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low of
26443.16 and 26092.69 respectively. 17 stocks advanced against 13 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The CNX Nifty gained 24.30 points or 0.31% to settle at 7884.25. The index touched high and low of 7901.15 and
7796.00 respectively. 29 stocks advanced against 20 declining ones on the index.
T h e market breadth on the BSE closed in negative. Advancing and declining stocks were 1537 and 1543
respectively, while 129 scrips remained unmoved.
S&P BSE Sensex CNX Nifty
The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 9489.76 and gained 0.48% while S&P BSE Small-cap index jumped up by
0.33% to 10646.47.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index increased to 10076.44 (up 0.36%) and CNX 500 index rose to 6352.40 (up 0.35%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX gained 1.19% at 14.50 from its previous close of 14.33 on Friday.
Among global peers, US markets tanked on account of global sell-off. Asian indices too traded mostly in red whereas
European indices were trading in green zone.
Sectors in action
On the BSE Sectorial front, Metals (up 1.37%), Banks (up 1.35%) and Information Technology (up 1.17%) were the
top gainers.
Real Estate (down 1.79%), Healthcare (down 1.04%) and FMCG (down 0.54%) were the top losers.
On stock-specific front, Essar Ports and Essar Shipping rallied 18.2% and 20% respectively on BSE as the Essar
Group is planning to delist the companies from bourses due to lack of investor appetite and to raise the flexibility for
promoters.
PVR gained 2.10% on BSE after Sundaram Mutual Fund (MF) acquired 576202 shares representing 1.4% stake in the
company at Rs 603 per share via open market.
Retail major, Future Retail spurted 1.36% on BSE after Future Group and Amazon India entered into a strategic
alliance that will provide the extensive brand portfolio and sourcing base of Future Group to the customer base of
Amazon.in.
Key Quarterly Results
IndusInd Bank jumped 1.9% to mark 52 week high at Rs 648 on BSE after company’s Q2 Net spurted 30.27% to Rs
430 crore as compared to Rs 330 crore in the same quarter of previous year.
Diamond Power Infrastructure rallied 8.8% on BSE after recording 29.23% growth in Q2 consolidated Net at Rs 40.32
crore as compared to Rs 31.20 crore in Q2 FY14.
The Angels and the Devils
Tata Power Company Ltd (up 2.90%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 2.14%), Coal India Ltd (up 1.91%), Axis Bank (up 1.90%) and
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (up 1.54%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (down 3.66%), Cipla Ltd (down 2.68%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (down 1.86%),
Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd (down 1.76%) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (down 1.29%) were the top losers on the
Sensex.

2. Benchmark Drivers
Infosys Ltd (30.59 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (27.84 points), Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (-25.66 points),
ICICI Bank (22.00 points) and HDFC Bank (20.77 points) were the major Sensex drivers today.
On the other end Infosys Ltd (7.63 points), Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (-6.49 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd
(6.48 points), ICICI Bank (6.35 points) and HDFC Bank (5.32 points) were the major Nifty movers today.
Pivot, Supports and Resistance Levels
CNX Nifty is now pivoted at 7860 for next session. The next support is at 7820 and on upside it has a resistance at
7925 levels.
