Weighed down by weak global cues and disappointing domestic factory output data, Indian indices traded in red
territory throughout the session. Headline Inflation number easing to 5 year low point could not resuscitate the
sentiments as Sensex succumbed 0.9% to close the day. On the positive side, IPO Index, Small-caps and Midcaps
bucked the trend and closed in green.
The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 1844 and 1360 respectively,
while 110 scrips remained unmoved.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 26816.56, down 244.48 points or 0.90%. The 30 share index touched a high and a
low of 26998.07 and 26790.91 respectively. 5 stocks advanced against 25 declining ones on the benchmark index.
T he CNX Nifty lost 63.50 points or 0.78% to settle at 8042.00. The index touched high and low of 8077.30 and
8030.00 respectively. 12 stocks advanced against 38 declining ones on the index.
S&P BSE Sensex CNX Nifty
The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 10000.86 and gained 0.18% while S&P BSE Small-cap index jumped up by
0.71% to 11245.52.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index decreased to 10378.28 (down 0.51%) and CNX 500 index declined to 6540.10 (down
0.50%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX gained 7.19% at 13.26 from its previous close of 12.37 on Friday.
On global front, US indices closed weak on Friday. Asian and European indices too are trading mostly in red.
Sectors in action
Back home, on the BSE Sectorial front, Healthcare (up 0.41%) and Real Estate (up 0.18%) were the top gainers.
Metals (down 1.69%), Information Technology (down 0.96%) and Oil & Gas (down 0.96%) were the top losers.
On stock specific front, Lupin Ltd zoomed 4% and hit a new 52 week high at Rs 1422 on BSE on reports of the
company entering into an agreement with Merck Serono to manufacture branded drugs at its facilities. The deal will
also grant Lupin the marketing rights for the drugs for emerging countries and European markets.
Mastek Ltd shot up 16.10% on BSE and hit a new 52 week at Rs 279.70 on plans to demerge its insurance business
into a separate listed entity.

Cipla Ltd (up 2.15%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd (up 1.56%), Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd (up 0.53%), HDFC Bank (up
0.51%) and Infosys Ltd (up 0.06%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 3.08%), Tata Steel Ltd (down 2.06%), Sesa Sterlite Ltd (down 1.86%), Oil and Natural
Gas Corporation Ltd (down 1.83%) and Coal India Ltd (down 1.66%) were the top losers on the Sensex.

Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (-28.33 points), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-27.13 points),
Reliance Industries Ltd (-23.92 points), ITC Ltd (-23.37 points) and ICICI Bank (-21.27 points) were the major Sensex
drivers today.
On the other end Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (-8.40 points), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (-6.99
points), Reliance Industries Ltd (-6.63 points), ITC Ltd (-6.38 points) and Larsen And Toubro Ltd (-4.39 points) were
the major Nifty movers today.
