1. Nifty scores a ton ahead of IIP and CPI data

Indian indices made a jubilant start to extend the yesterday’s gains with Sensex above 25700. Bulls accelerated their
pace on D-Street in noon trades amidst sustained buying activities by retail and fund investors on expectations of good
growth in IIP and CPI numbers. Both barometer gauges soared over 1.3% to settle near intraday highs. Sensex rallied
362 points to end at 25881 and Nifty cracked a ton to settle at 7727. On BSE sectorial front, Auto index was the top
gainer.
Among global peers, US markets stretched their northward journey on the back of gains in small cap companies
amidst easing geopolitical worries. On the other hand, Asian and European markets traded mixed.
Back home, on the currency turf, Rupee strengthened against Dollar amidst the jubilant trades in local equities.
Among major stock movements, Goa Carbon climbed 2.8% on BSE on reporting a stellar 6363 million tons of
Calcined Petroleum Coke production for the month of July 2014.
IRB Infrastructure spurted 2.57% on BSE after Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report for a murder
case of RTI activist who has exposed several land scam cases.
Indian Hotels tumbled 6.77% on BSE after JP Morgan slashed its target to Rs 107 from Rs 120 per share citing the
widening Net loss in June quarter.
State owned, Oil India ended marginally up after its June quarter Net surged 39.86% at Rs 851.87 crore as compared
to Rs 609.08 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2013.
Another OMC major, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL) plunged 1% on BSE despite recording a Net profit of
Rs 46.04 crore in Q1 as compared to a Net loss of Rs 1460.48 crore for corresponding quarter of previous year.
Wockhardt slumped 3.8% on BSE after its June quarter consolidated Net tanked 93.82% to Rs 19.95 crore as
compared to Rs 323.31 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.
Britannia Industries hit fresh 52 week high at 1186 on BSE on reporting 25% growth in Q1FY15 Net at Rs 107.81 crore
as compared to Rs 86.29 crore for the same period of previous year. The stock ended 1.9% down on BSE.
Eicher Motors rallied 7.8% to flag new 52 week high at Rs 9350 on BSE after its Q2FY15 Net jumped over two and a
half fold at Rs 133.24 crore as compared to Rs 52.62 crore for the same quarter in the previous year. On consolidated
basis, company’s Net witnessed a steep hike of 70.54% at Rs 157.44 crore for the quarter as compared to Rs 92.32
crore in Q2FY14.
The market breadth on the BSE closed in positive. Advancing and declining stocks were 1639 and 1419 respectively,
while 126 scrips remained unmoved.
The S&P BSE Sensex ended at 25880.77, up 361.53 points or 1.42%. The 30 share index touched a high and a low
of 25904.98 and 25645.79 respectively. 26 stocks advanced against 3 declining ones on the benchmark index.
The CNX Nifty gained 101.10 points or 1.33% to settle at 7727.05. The index touched high and low of 7735.75 and
7654.80 respectively. 45 stocks advanced against 5 declining ones on the index.
S&P BSE Sensex CNX Nifty
The S&P BSE Mid-cap index moved up to 9055.95 and gained 0.49% while S&P BSE Small-cap index jumped up by
0.45% to 9947.06.
The broader S&P BSE 500 index increased to 9814.14 (up 1.12%) and CNX 500 index rose to 6186.15 (up 1.12%).
The volatility as denoted by INDIA VIX lost 3.79% at 13.47 from its previous close of 14.00 on Monday.
Sectors in action
On the BSE Sectorial front, Automobile (up 1.79%), Oil & Gas (up 1.67%) and Banks (up 1.41%) were the top gainers.
There was no loser on BSE sectorial front.
2. The Angels and the Devils
GAIL (India) Ltd (up 6.02%), Tata Motors Ltd (up 5.92%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (up 5.39%),
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (up 3.21%) and NTPC Ltd (up 2.69%) were the top gainers on the Sensex.
Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 1.67%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd (down 0.30%) and ITC Ltd (down 0.14%) were the top losers on
the Sensex.
Benchmark Drivers
Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (97.66 points), Tata Motors Ltd (54.21 points), ICICI Bank (31.64
points), HDFC Bank (30.01 points) and Larsen And Toubro Ltd (25.11 points) were the major Sensex drivers today.
On the other end Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (22.97 points), Tata Motors Ltd (14.16 points), HDFC
Bank (7.96 points), ICICI Bank (7.51 points) and Larsen And Toubro Ltd (6.38 points) were the major Nifty movers
today.

CNX Nifty is now pivoted at 7706 for next session. The next support is at 7676 and on upside it has a resistance at
7757 levels.
